Huckabee is probably a good guy, and obviously a Christian leader, but he scares the heck out of me running the country. He's in over his head, both on economic and foreign policy, and it's showed. A completely unrealistic tax plan and little to no knowledge about Pakistan and Guantanomo already.

We'd have GW II in the White House. A "good guy" that spends like a Democrat and doesn't quite no what he's doing around the world.

We're voting for a president here, not a pastor, people! Wake up and stop going with this sheep mentality just because he speaks well and is a "good" guy.

Don't forget, folks, Fred's an actor both on and off the stage. All the Republicans seem capable of doing is dragging out the ghost of Ronald Reagan to justify their shop worn ideas, attaching God and religion to every domestic and international problem, and illiciting "family values" as some sort of litmus test for the presidency. Once in office, however, their actions never match their rhetoric. Thompson increasingly represents the far right wing of the party. Does he ever mention the Constitution or the necessity of equality among the three branches of government? No, he likes to make smart alec, tough guy remarks about going to war with Iran over a skirmish near the straits of Hormuz. Anyone remember the Gulf of Tonkin incident? Tough and falacious talk that resulted in an extended and costly war in Vietnam. And if Fred's so conservative, what about his lobbying efforts for Libya etc. etc.? He acts like Mr. Gravitas, but he's an actor.
He's not suited for the role of president.

None of this will ever happen by passing new laws or trying to force people to comply with someone else's wishes. You familiar with the concept of supply and demand? Repealing abortion isn't going to stop them from happening - it's just going to move them into the alleys and backhouses of America. You want to stop these things? You must change peoples minds about it - laws won't do it. How many laws do we have on the books against murder and yet how often does it happen?

Huckabee is NOT TRUST WORTHY.

Huckabee had 14 ethnical violations brought against him relating to finances as governor. Shortly before announcing his candidacy for President, Huckabee ordered 83 computer hard drives and 4 servers be destroyed during his transition phase in leaving office. That's what a crooked CEO would do when he leaves a company. Remember Enron!

He raised taxes 21 times and granted clemency to 1033
convicted felons, 12 murderers and numerous rapists. Try to improve his tough on crime image with Chuck Norris. (Give me a break! If they were selling weight lose machine it would be more convincing!)

Huckabee wants to eliminate the IRS and have a national sales tax. Exactly how ignorant is this man? Then you find out the only higher education he has after high school was a 2 1/2 year of religion degree. He work as a baptist preacher selling religion for a living with people's donation for 12 years. How could anyone think this man can revive our economy?

I agree, but realistically, not many of the candidates in either party have much experience in foreign policy. Gov Huckabee is a likeable individual but I think he would be in over his head if he were elected President. After GWB, I think we need more in a President than a good Christian all around nice guy to be around.

I know this sounds like a conspiracy theory but I think it is true. Stranger things have happened in politics.I beleive Thompson is just doing a favor for McCain by even running. It would explain why Thompson took so long to even act like a candidate at all. He and McCain are very good friends. Thompson supported McCain in 2000. McCain lost in South Carolina against a conservative candidate in 2000. Thompson is doing just enough to draw some votes away from Huckabee, or it could have been Romney if things went differently, to allow McCain to win via moderate Republicans and independents. He's serving as McCain's firewall in South Carolina against social conservatives. I bet Thompson is McCain's VP as pay back if he gets the GOP's nomination and if McCain wins South Carolina he most likely will be the nominee.

There's only ONE true conservative in this race. Congressman Ron Paul, a strict Constitutionalist for small government, less taxes, non-intervention, immigration reform, ending the Iraq occupation, and repealing the anti-American "Patriot Act".
