The hour long interview with Hillary turned out to be nothing more than a "Hillary" commercial for her campaign for President. Since when does a guest tell Tim "Wait a minute I am not going to let you get away with that". Tim allowed Hillary (on several occassions) to cut him off in mid sentence. The first twenty minutes were nothing more a campaign appearance by Hillary discussing all the reasons to vote for her and against Obama. I am unbeliveably disappointed. The only recourse (seems to me) would be to have Obama back on the show as soon as possible. I am sooo very disappointed in Tim Russert. What happened Tim, did you handle her with kid gloves because she is a woman and you didn't want women (of which I am one and have been a faithful viewer for many years) to offend women? Very disappointed in you!!!

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

If Clinton really didn't think her vote was to allow military force...for a WAR...then she is just too damn stupid to be President.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

First of all, it was very impressive. For leadership, experience is the best teacher! We had economic prosperity and the world respected us during the Clinton administration. Ever since Bush took the office, we have lost millions of jobs, respect in the world, the economy is in danger of overheating amid rising inflationary pressure, and we are facing a record trade and budget deficit. Most folks hate Americans -- I don't know if you guys noticed that, but I visit foreign countries.

I like Obama's personality, but I don't think he will win the nomination. It's just too hard for him to win other states. He is still unknown to most Americans and too new to trust. On the other hand, may be Obama doesn't practice Islam, but there sure is a lot of talk about him being Muslim, which could hurt him in the general election.

We need to regain what we have lost. Among other presidential candidates, I really like Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney, but I wish they had some experience, especially in foreign affairs and economy. I believe that Clinton is the best and most experienced candidate among both Republican & Democrat fields. Experience does count in this troubling economy

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Hillary made a mistake appearing on this show. She came back each time with intelligent answers. She never faltered once. She was even gracious toward Obama.

She is wonderful and really showed that once again today on Russert's program. He did not show those experience polls from N.H. that showed her winning 71% to Obama's mere 5%.
One thing though that is very worrisome to me is a story that is now today being confirmed about Obama's Muslim religion. Here is the link to at least one of the websites that it came out on today. http://news.newsmax.com/?yM.mDK2a1cvzjauo0KIShBRKzQy Here is a quote from the article And he adds: “All this matters, for if Obama once was a Muslim, he is now what Islamic law calls a murtadd (apostate), an ex-Muslim converted to another religion who must be executed. Were he elected president of the Untied States, this status, clearly, would have large potential implications for his relationship with the Muslim world.”
Americans you saw Senator Clinton on Tim Russert's show today and the worse thing he could drag up on her was the Lewinsky affair which as she said, everyone knows about that and that she accepted that and did the best she could when going through it.
Obama will soon be forced to come clean. Search and research his record and you will Vote for Hillary in 2008.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Once again the media is working against Hillary. The Clinton's comments are more than shocking…

Clinton Attacks Obama
It's shocking to see how Clinton is attacking Obama rather than defending her records: The Clinton have been in Washington for 8 years - not much have been done by them- no change has been seen - But during the last dems debate in NH- Clinton said that she has been doing changes for 35 years… Could she show one of the great changes that she has done for this country? What Clinton have really done to unite the country and its people, what did they do for education, health care, etc. We should judge people on their results, for now I don't see any tangible results from the Clintons. During their mandate, a genocide has been committed in Rwanda and injustice in America did not decrease…
I hope they have memory of having done no thing to stop the genocide in Rwanda, etc.
Obama
Obama is new in Washington and can't be held accountable for the past but he has to be judged on his record: He did oppose Irak war in 2002 and he is still opposed to it but as he explained one day, as America went to war in Irak he took his responsibilities when he voted for budget to help men and women in US Uniforms there and Obama said that he won't be in Washington to reduce America's force but to increase it by moral means as well as force if needed. Obama is the best choice for this time for America to show to the World how America is modern and smart state...
Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

If it wasn't a vote for war... why did it take her two or three years to criticize the war? Why didn't she stand up in March of 2002 when the first bombs were dropped and ACTUALLY SAY "This isn't what I voted for!!"

If you can't admit your mistakes, how do we know you won't make them again?
Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

What we want are the candidates to speak to the issues and how to solve our present and future problems we have been left with from the Bush team. Clinton does just that and she showed this again today when she stood up to Tim Russert and his "got you" comments.
Judy S, Dayton, Ohio (Sent Sunday, January 13, 2008 10:56 AM)
________________________________

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't be serious
Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

I can't wait for the Daily Show on Monday.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

I feel like we are debating the meaning of "IS" again!!

Not good.

Is this what Americans want?

Can't wait to see.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

I'm a professional woman of Hillary CLinton's generaion and would like nothing better than to see a woman president. But she should not count on the support of women, just because of gender. She appeared to use the Meet the Press time as an opportunity to bash Obama at every turn, esp. when she felt cornered. And of course much of this time was as state and national first lady.

What is the quality of this experience? Its a discussion that we haven't had. We've had shrill responses from both sides, with very little discussion. In a less shrill environment, I think we'd all agree her time in private law practice doesn't translate well to presidential-like experience. At least its nothing extraordinary - lawyers are a dime a dozen. So what are we to make of her time in Arkansas and the White House as the spouse?

Its an interesting discussion. She claims, and certainly can point to indicators, that she wasn't just the first lady in Washington. I don't know anything about her in Arkansas. She was given health care to run with as a project. That in itself was unusual. But after that projects failure, she seemingly took a less visible role. We also know she was reported to be running the 'war room' during the impeachment.

I'm guessing to get a better feel for the right answer here would entail looking back at the Clinton Administration in greater detail, and then trying to discern more about what she actually did there.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Sen. Clinton's interview shows her knowledge of the issues. It seems that if her views do not agree with your views, then she must be lying. That is an immature way of looking at things. I think Mr. Russert should not compare a vote in the Senate with information given only to members of the Senate, to a statement (at an anti-war rally) that was part of a speech that Sen. Obama gave in Chicago in 2002. Sen. Obama, as a US Senator, has consistently voted with the majority of the senators to continue funding the war, which have always been put as supporting our troops. Sen. Clinton has made dificult decisions, she has worked her entire adult life for children (Childrens Defense Fund), for the uninsured (coverage for children). She was beat up very badly when she worked for universal coverage as First Lady, and was critised for having the nerve to work on something when she was only First Lady. Please at least acknowledge that she does have experience, and she gets things done. This is why I am supporting Sen. Now since the war has already been waged, 150,000 young americans are risking their lives in a war zone, it's his obligtation to support the troops until Iraq stabilizes. He has been consistent: against this war but committed to the troops. So what's the fairy tale here, Mr Clinton?

Clinton's campaign has been caught to spread e-mail that he is a muslim plant, trying to take over this country. Her NH co-chair implied he could be a drug dealer in the past. With MLK, Senator said MLK'ss dreams were dream and would not have realized without a president (LBJ). So where this come from? What does it mean? A black man can only be a civil rights activist or can dream or talk about equality and fairness. That's all Obama can do as well as she implies. But ultimately we need a white President (LBJ and future Clinton) to make sure right things happen. The fact is again, Obama is not running as a Black candidate to promote black issue at national level. He recognizes the problems the country faces are color blind. It hurts some demographic little more than others but these are issues of all americans. Poor economy, lack of healthcare, a wrong war, global warming have nothing to do with black or white or hispanic or asian. These are american problems.

It's unfortunate, Clintons look down on people. They insult people. Remember Bill Clinton's remark of voting for Obama is the "roll of a dice" or "this kid". ONLY Clintons have monopoly in wisdom and judgment and qualification to run this country for decades. Clintons are making insensitive, disrespectful comment on TV, people are seeing them for what they are. Some people among Black community are voicing concerns. And somehow, without evidence, she is blaming Obama's campaign.

So they make offenses, they apologize and spin for those offense but again they call foul on the other side. Look at Clintons in NV. The democratic party decided about having a few large precints in Las Vegas to make sure casino/hotel workers can vote without taking off from work. 10 months ago. The people who were part of making that decision are the same people filing law suit to take these precints away just because union of those workers supported Obama. If this is how Clintons will run next 8 years, better think twice before electing Clinton.
Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Hillary says Obama doesn't have a track record for getting things done. There are many studies in academia that men are more likely to get hired based on their future promise, whereas women are expected to already have a strong record. In other words, men with weak record are easily forgiven because they can sell the "visionary" thing. Women do not make believable "visionaries" or "leaders;" they have to rely on what they have already done because they do not receive the benefit of the doubt. If you don't believe me just imagine Obama as a woman (reagrdles sof race)? Would anyone believe that a female Obama is qualified for being president? It's a pity that even women buy the sexist bias--they prefer to follow a man than ask the tough questions.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Hillary did incredibly well with Tim. For those of you who did not think Hillary answered the tough questions, just how ignorant can you be? She answered EVERY question in detail, but you're so blinded by hatred you would rather sing the praises of your rock star candidate rather than actually address any real issues. Obama is the "New Elvis" and you people are lining up to scream, cry, and faint over your new Messiah, but what does he actually represent? Why is he playing the "race card" if he's such a strong candidate on the merits alone? It is completely dishonest to claim that your campaign is NOT about your race, but use it to your advantage at every turn, and then when things don't appear to be going your way or you need votes in SC, you pull out the racism and dicrimination tactics that have clearly been up your sleeve all along. How can the Obama cult not see this? Hypocrisy is alive and well in the Obama camp, along with dirty tricks and using racism to get votes, even though he's really a half white elitist who has NOTHING in common with real hardworking people in the black community. But if this is what we will get by electing an African American president...then no thanks.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Hillary explained her positions vry well and had Tim Russert Backing down, now as we go after Chris Matthews, MSNBC will begin losing viewers if he doesn't apoloize on the air to Hillary, and admit his hatred and bias of the Clintons

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

American politics needs to grow up. Interesting. But it is, unfortunately, a typical misleading post hoc self-justification. Let us recall that 23 Senators (including nearly half the Democrats then in the Senate) and 133 Representatives who voted AGAINST the resolution were not misled. Is this the kind of vision we need in our President? Let us also recall that HRC didn't bother to read the National Intelligence Estimate which Bush used as a justification to authorize military action. Is this the kind of attention to detail relating to vitally important decisions that we must demand in our President? Finally, her unwillingness to acknowledge, even in retrospect, that her vote was a mistake is frighteningly reminiscent of the arrogance of the current President. Is this what we are looking for in our next President? I don't think so.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

The response to this mornings Meet The Press clearly illustrates by the e mails the diversity and different interpertations of the interview. If you are a student of body language then you witnessed a sincere and heart felt interview in which HRC showed true emotion and enormous range of facts and articulation. I was duly impressed with the way HRC handled the onslaught of attacks by Russert, (who I felt was unduly critical). I do feel a Presidential candidate has every right to interject, hold on there, lets get the facts right. As so often, a small snipet out of context was put up on the screen. HRS got it right and illustrated more than ever why she is qualified to be President. Do Americans really want to place the fate of our Country, Our Economy and our future in a well spoken but untested and inexperienced young man, who really has no real qualifications except rock star status-to run this troubled country.Every four years we hear the word change, this is nothing new. What we do not hear are politicians who are really willing to tackle the tough issues a President faces. HRC this morning impressed me as a passionate, compassionate well versed candidate who deserves the opportunity to identify her alternatives to the complex issues facing this country. This morning we were exposed to a real look at HRC. A bright, sensitive and electable candidate, who appears to have studied the issues and who also has at least taken a position. Right or Wrong she does have an actionable history from which to measure her skills. This was a truly outstanding morning for an outstanding candidate.
Ron Unger-Sarasota-Florida

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Mr. Russert should have asked about her 35 years of experience that she touts because we all know that Wolf Blitzer won't dare to ask her that when CNN has their Dem debate in SC. They do not want him on the ticket. They know how to deal with Clinton's but Obama throws them off their game because he doesn't react to their distorted attacks, and he speaks above the partisan bickering that has worked so well for them (and the Clintons recently). They can divide America over Hillary, but that won't work with Obama's message of a working coalition of Americans rather than bitter partisan politics.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

America seems to have a death wish that it is carrying out by making sure the only honest candidate, John Edwards, is off-loaded. How predictably sad. Two years ago when Don Imus asked out loud why more than 50% of America still believed Saddam Hussein and Iraq had a connection to 9/11, a sidekick blurted out, "Because we're a nation of morons."

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Me??? I'm an OBAMA MAMA!!!!

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

It seems as if this blog & its users serve no purpose other than to find a way to demean themselves. The comments posted on the site are insulting & belittling to Senator Clinton. They have no merits in supporting any of the claims against Senator Clinton. So these bloggers only mean is to make stupid comments when they disagree with the senator & can't seem to find any ways to counter.

If the Republicans & the pundits truly want change, they only have themselves to blame for crowning Bush in 2000. The Clintons have left this nation w/ surplus & record economic growth. In 2000, it was also the Republicans who voted for changes & now we ends up in a dung hole. Obviously, bloggers here don't seem to learn. Here is an advice, try voting for someone with a proven experience of positive change for this nation. Voting for a candidate with no experience (such as Senator Obama) is in essence making the same fatal mistake as in voting for Bush in 2000 as an agent of change.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Oh come on people give me a break....when Obama was on Meet the Press Tim asked soft questions...When Hillary is on he goes for the throat and she fought back....She isn't going to take Tim's crap or anyone elses that try their best to distort her positions...YOU GO HILLARY YOU DID GREAT!!!!!!!!

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Jesuitical?

Defined, according to the Oxford English Dictionary as, "Having the character ascribed to the Jesuits; deceitful, dissembling; practising equivocation, prevarication, or mental reservation of truth. Hillary is a very talented politician. I am not sure her resume is that accomplished except by marriage. It was difficult at times to appreciate her attempts at spinning her campaigns comments. This is goodness though. The republicans will attack Obama and are thrilled to see Hillary's attempts to tear him down. Then she voted to give him a blank check on Iran. They are still ramping up to go to war with Iran,(Watch the video tape released by the IRA today)and it is my belief Bush will have us at war with Iran soon! This is the judgment she would show as president.
Hillary touts and spews about her 35 years of experience and refuses to release her experience with Bill Clinton in the White House. She says how she cares about the working class people while the Clintons started NAFTA which has brought this country to it's knees and must be stopped. On this subject all she can say is that it didn't go as they thought it would. This is the kind of judgment she would bring as President. Hillary was on the Board of Directors for one of the biggest corporations destroying the middle class - WALMART. There she could have used her experience to improve pay, HEALTH INSURANCE, EQUALITY for WOMEN in the workplace but chose the BIG CORPORATE way of life! She couldn't help thousands of working class people in one corporation and wants us to believe she will do something for the whole country! This is the kind of judgment she will bring as President! Obama spent years actually working to change life in Chicago - then Illinois - then the United States.
Hillary says she wants to bring transparency to our government - What a JOKE! It was Senator Obama who got the internet website to post where our money is being spent(WASTED) in this government. Who has gotten some legislation passed to reform this government! She says it will not be done quickly but he HAS STARTED in that direction. It amazes me how she tries to sound more like Barack everyday. Sorry Hillary you will never be an OBAMA. He has good JUDGMENT, is one of the PEOPLE, is not a LIAR, is a THINKER, a UNITER and SHOULD BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES.
For those of you who keep throwing this MUSLIM religion crap out there you should really check out his religion and listen to him speak on his religion.
Most intelligent people know that you don't name yourself! Furthermore, I could give a rats a-- for her not apologizing on the war authorization vote - it is what is, it was yesterday, in the past, why do people FAIL to accept that we were OUTRIGHT LIED too, by the current administration on the basis for the illegal war and wasted taxpayer dollars - WHEN will the american taxpayer get their refund for this lie? NEVER. HRC is my choice for the democratic nomination. However should BHO recieve the nomination - I will support him - PERIOD. Should Edwards get it - I will support him - PERIOD. I just want to see the neocons gone - PERIOD. I read these postings and find it amazing that so many people state that if there choice candidate does not get the democratic nomination then they will vote on the other party's ticket. I'd glady accept a democrat in the WH after these "dicey" eight years of neocons, their lies, deceptions, and condscending everthing is beneath them attitudes. Most of the time you have been on the mark. This time you are wrong. I know that you can't see it but all of your views come from your world not ours. You both come across as if you know what it is to be Black in America. You seam to think that only you can speak for Blacks. That a Black man can't speak unless he has been beaten, gassed, arrested or treated like crap by whites. You are off the mark.
Want to know what its like to be Black in America try this.
Pick any Black male, put him in a $2500.00 suite in downtown New York (your turf), then you or Bill stand 10 yards past him with jeans and shirt on. Both signal for a cab. See who gets one. You can also try this in any city in America and get the same results.
If I'm wrong I will go back to supporting you. Thats the other thing until the past week I was for you 100% but after seeing what you both have had to say of late not now or ever.
You can think you know us and feel our pain but you don't and never can. I'm not changing because of race but because both of you come across as if Blacks owe you something, we don't.
Obama may be only half Black, may have been raised under in a different environment than most Blacks but he still has a better understanding of what Blacks and all minorities (by color or class) have to go through each day in this country.
That cab would pass him by 9 out of 10 times. Not so for you or Bill.
As for me I'm retired from the US Navy and I have always been a Dem. I'm now and have always been involved with politics. The Clintons and the party should see what Obama brings to the party. That being people all over this country who would nrver, ever vote again for a Clinton. Let focus on the main issue of why these candidates are running for PRESIDENCY….and earn our votes our fore father’s fought for and not to give it away just because your black….
Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Hillary did an outstanding job today. She never let tim Russert get by with anything he tried, including showing only clips of what he wanted us to see. She is a strong person & has plans already in place when she is elected. Personally, I think that is not much of a change.

I also used to think that he opposed the war from the get go and has been consistent since then. There were many posts on OTHER threads during this time. Hard to believe that there were not many posts attempted on this thread during this large window of time - from 11:54am through 5:09pm - especially when you see how fast and furious they were coming in up until 11:54am. Very strange, to say the least.

There is a pattern here. This is the fourth time in a week that I have seen this happen, where if there are a large number of ANTI-HILLARY posts, you suddenly, and effectively, shut down the thread by stopping the posting for hours at a time. This is what I tried to post here at 2:30pm today after my 1pm post never showed up. What's going on?? Creative editing?? Very unprofessional. If someone takes the time to post, they don't want to think their thoughts will be censored.

What I wanted to say on this thread was that I thought Tim Russert did a fantastic job of drawing out the real Hillary. He cleverly showed how she is incapable of admitting mistakes. She blames everyone else - and never accepts responsibility herself. Tim was very polite and let Hillary give long answers. But he was able to very effectively demonstrate her and her campaign's misstatements and falsehoods. Bravo to Tim!! Hillary came across as extremely unappealing and shrill. Not a good performance.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Did anyone notice that to almost EVERY question that was asked, Hillary replied "It's not fair" and "we need to put it into context" or It was taken out of context" ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Will this woman EVER fess up to anything that her or her husband say or do? She must really be living in a "Fairytail" if she thinks the good people of America are going to take her seriously. More LIES! I'm not even sure that she should be allowed to go back to the Senate after all of this! Perhaps when the lights go ouit he is somebody else. How would you know? I certainly do not. Thats why I will vote for whomever the canadate is. I have listened to Barak, but i do not buy the hope speech. I need to see his work and just as Clinton's past recoed is looked at I want to see his as well. I remeber during the last election many bloggers were furious if you talked about Bush. Well, it turned out to be a mess. I read one bog that says he does everthing Barak tells him to do. That is scary. To all of youi who despice her even more I ask what do you think the Republicans will do with him, should he become the nominee; join hands and sing. All I am saying is look at Obama's past record and compare it to what he is saying, not just what you want to hear. But what you don't, because the Republicans sure will. I am a young Black man that is supporting Hillary. Not becuse like many she is a great orator or she can do no wrong, but because she has been hated talked about and did not fall. I want to see Barak not just hear him. People said that aboyut George Bush and look what happened. Perhaps Hillary is correct, Obama needs to be looked at closely as she has. And regarding Matin Luther King, I believe masny of you as I believe that their words were taken out of context. I read where Jessie Jackson's son who is with Obama's camp made a remark comparing O. Simpson and a black man and white woman in a senereo and none of you said one thing? Why. I for one will look at Obama past more closley. Like I said I will vote for whomever the democratic nominee is. But they all have to be looked at. UI still can't believe someone would say I'll do whatever Obama tells me. See a doctor, quick. Scary.

Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

OK, First Read - I see you are slowly backtracking with your posting of people's comments. Had she lost there, I think it would’ve been nearly impossible for her to stop Obama’s momentum. As it is, a huge battle lies ahead.
It is crucial that voters in Nevada, S. Carolina, and the Super Tuesday states do not repeat New Hampshire’s mistake. Obama is far more electable than Clinton, and a far more inspiring choice to move the country past the divisiveness of the Bush-Clinton years.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I think that the frothing-at-the-mouth hatred that Hillary inspires in so many Republicans borders on the insane (and it’s certainly idiotic), but Democrats ignore that antipathy at their own peril. If Democrats want to do the most powerful thing they can to turn out the *right-wing* base in November, the choice is simple: nominate Hillary Clinton.
Obama, on the other hand, is the one candidate that Americans across the political spectrum can get behind. How do we know? Because they did it in Iowa. He trounced Hillary among independents, brought out unprecedented numbers of young people, and even defeated her by a percentage point among women there. Even in New Hampshire, he beat her handily amongst independents and young voters. He is a *true* uniter, something that Bush and Mrs. Clinton, unfortunately, can never be.
Imagine a contest between Obama and McCain. Barack would destroy the old guy in a general election. Clinton? I’m not so sure. Certainly, after seven years of the Bush fiasco, any Dem nominee *should* be able to beat any Republican, but given the way Hillary infuriates and riles up Republicans, it would be a huge risk to give her that responsibility. And really, do voters – even those who appreciate Bill Clinton’s presidency – really want to hear all those same old attacks and innuendoes and slanders repeated for another four or eight years? It’s time to turn the page, finally, and only Obama can do that.
Lastly, we should adress this silly “experience” issue: JFK only served a single full term in the Senate before becoming one of our most beloved presidents, and Lincoln, probably the greatest president ever, had served only *one* term in the House before his election. And of course, Bush was a two-term governor when he was elected, and we know how that worked out…There are other, *better*, metrics than mere time-in-office, and Obama’s obvious intelligence and good judgement – remember, he was right about Iraq from the beginning – are ample evidence of the strong leadership he would bring to the White House.
Democrats have a choice, a choice between unity and division, between the future and the past. Do we want to risk another Republican president, or four more years of Bush-Clinton bickering? Or do we want to turn the page to a new chapter in American life? Get out and *vote* in your primaries, and vote for Barack Obama.
Clinton justifies war vote, hits Obama

Is Hillary a bad liar? Maybe it's a bunch of the same fools that believed Bush would be a good president. Obama is a likeable guy but is full of more hot air than anything else. He has never run anything, even the smallest business and has gotten where he is on all talk and very little in the way of results. He may be a nice guy but is sure not ready to run the country. He is little more than a likeable used car salesman running for president. I wonder how many idiots will vote for who they like rather than the person that will do the best job.
