He is building quite an impressive list of Senatorial endorsements, too. John Kerry, Claire McCaskill, Pat Leahy, Kent Conrad, etc. And many governors too like Tim Kaine of Virginia and Janet Napolitano of Arizona.

Obama won more delegates yesterday than did Hillary. With this system they will both be competitive past Feb. 5. This will go on, and as it does, it will become more apparent to the Democratic voters and to the Party that we need a change from the Clintons. My husband predicts that very soon Bill will implode - he'll either do or say something really, really over-the-top.

Barack Obama is a once-in-a-generation chance for the Democratic Party. Let's not lose this opportunity to nominate this gifted man.

Please note that Hillary’s 6% represented LESS THAN 600 VOTES. That number is less than the number of people who live in a city block in any major American city.

This is the voting pattern. Hillary never wins by much and Obama always continues to show appeal to voters across all communities.

Hillary also won by very little in NH. They both got the same number of delegates: 9 each.

OBAMA was a formidable vote-getter in NV. There are 17 counties in NV and Obama won in 11 of them. In 7 of the 11 counties that Obama won, he won more than 50% of the NV county vote.

OBAMA demonstrated voting support all over the state of NV. THAT IS WHY OBAMA WON MORE DEM NV delegates.

While I am a young person in the U.S., and have been able to vote in the past,I have not for one simple reason--I didn't feel strongly enough about the vote. No one had reached out & touched me enough for me to want to make a decision like that, the lesser of 2 evils. This year, the first time I watched & really listened to Obama, I knew that this was someone I could respect, understand, and know he would understand out concerns. He is eloquent, to the point, & best of all, the doesn't throw temper tantrums when he loses. He doesn't attack his opponents for the sake of drawing attention away from the fact that it some instances, he isn't the best. His speech was touching.
Thank you Mama for raising your son to be the person he is, for once I want to be involved, have a voice, because Obama makes me feel like there is hope--hope that someone still has some common sense left, and doesn't take the easy way out of controversial issues.

Sounds like a powerful speech delivered at a powerful place. As the candidates head to South Carolina,they will find that the African American voters here in SC are very upset with Clinton. If Obama does not win, I for one will cross over in the general election and vote for the Republican candidate if indeed it is McCain or Huckabee.
Others here in SC feel the same way as I do. She will do and say anything to get elected. African Americans are not being respected by the Clinton Campaign. Listen to them carefully. They talk in coded language about Obama's campaign, Much like old line southerners do. Blacks who are supporting her cant even begin to envision something more meaningful for themselves.They are in Shock.They cant even begin to relate to someone like Obama. The preachers are a joke! This thing of going to the church and preachers played out long ago. We laugh about that down here. Politicians who do that are far out of touch.It is a sterotype. They need to stop it. The Clintons want to keep African Americans in a role that has long since passed. The struggle for equal and civil rights has produced a different breed of African Americans. The primary season is a race for delegates, and Obama won the delegate race in Nevada 13-12. So no concession speech necessary. He is leading the elected delegates 38 - 36. "Super Delegates" are not obligated to anyone...they can vote however they want, and more and more are coming away from Clinton and towards Obama.

Barack Obama has set the tone for the presidential campaign, which is why The Post endorses him in the Florida Democratic primary.

One irony is that Sen. Obama has influenced all his major challengers despite his youth (46) and the fact that he was little-known nationally until his riveting address at the 2004 national convention. Another irony is that Sen. Obama is downplaying the state primary because of a fight between the national and state Democratic parties. But all the candidates are on the Jan. 29 ballot, and we hope that voters ignore the sideshows and turn out.

Why vote for Sen. Obama? Because his opponents, Democratic and Republican, now tout the "hope" and "change" on which Sen. Obama has campaigned from the start. No candidate has more directly and correctly addressed the unease that pervades the country after seven years of a terrible presidency.

I was moved to tears. If anyone knows about Obama, they know that this speech is just what he is about. He calls people to arms. Not military arms but the arms that are necessary to fight the social battles demanded by this great society. To be an American is to seek one's image in that of perfection. I am a 57 year old white woman from Michigan, and I only wish I could have cast my vote for Barack Obama in the Michigan primary. I support him because I believe he is our best hope to unify and place our country on a positive trajectory both within our borders and abroad. Race and gender are part of who these candidates are, but they should not be the defining factors. I was upset that Hillary in the Las Vegas debate stated that she and Obama agree that race and gender should not be used as part of the campaign, then two sentences later described the importance of her possibly becoming the first woman president. She has been manipulative and it is offensive to see her husband running around making half-true accusations and yelling at reporters in her defense. It belittles her status and creates serious concern as to whether she has sent him to be her defender and attack dog or whether she can't control him which is almost worse. She has been called the most unifying force for the Republicans, which I believe is true, and we can't afford, for many reasons, to have another Republican in the White House. I also know a number of Democrats who can't stomach her and have said they will look for a third party candidate or not vote if she is nominated. This is not simply because she is a woman, but because of the baggage she and Bill bring to the table. I am also offended at the assumption that because I am a woman, I should automatically vote for her. I am glad when women rise to positions of importance, but being a woman alone does not make me a supporter. I have known women as well as men in power positions who have been overly controlling and treated others in demeaning ways, so the gender itself does not necessarily recommend itself.

According to the NYT Edwards had been invited to speak at the Zion Baptist Church today but for some strange reason both the Clinton & Obama campaigns complained because they weren't going to be there. This is a hidden anger and conflict within him that causes the emotions of the Americans to go up and down. Not good!

You know what worries me? Obama seemingly has given drugs up but the emotional conflicts of what caused him to take drugs is still there. It's a mentality of victim and co-dependancy. I would think you all would decide to vote for a person that has the vision, and ability to think beyond the collective archetypes. It would be nice to have a president that can chart new courses of emotion and feelings without having the need of the past to define the future!!! Kaye, you are one uninformed person but then many Obama supporters are the same. Have you heard about Favreau? He is Obama's speechwriter for last 2 years. And he has a team of 6-8 people guiding him.

Obama's speechwriter go thru different speeches/editorials in the history, pick up the right lines and piece them together. If you see today's speech, it has cuts from Bob Dole's speech in 96, it has cuts from NYTimes editorial, etc. They do a good job , no doubt about that.

And then Obama reads thru them. At times he modulates his voice nicely, so thats good.

MLK fought against huge opposition and terrible racism and strife, not to mention all the beatings,tear gas, jail time,etc.,etc.,...how can you even compare the two??? How you can you even consider putting our country in the hands of a NOVICE that nobody had even heard of until last year? His writers may have edited or looked it over, but Obama writes the majority of his speeches, especially one as personal and emotional as the one he delivered in Atlanta. Franklin Roosevelt was elected to office for 4 terms. He was admired by most Americans and it was he who felt that it was too much for a President to serve such long terms. To say that a Hillary Rodam Clinton is not capable of leading this nation because of her name is a silly arguement.

This is an arguement that is used by someone who simply doesn't want you to scrutinize a weak and frankly lacking record of public service. This is an argument of a person who has a questionable history and questionable personal ties to certain entities they may be beholding to.

Senator Barack Obama may point the finger at Hillary Clinton but when he doesn he has three or four pointing right back at him. Fingers that lead one to ask questions about just how poor his mother was really and how he landed in a private school in Hawaii that in today's dollars cost $16,000 per year? To me people in deep poverty can't afford these schools and when we were on food stamps this wasn't a consideration.

Of course today we accept that Obama is Christian, but this steadfast refusal to discuss that he converted from Islam to Christianity is disturbing to some individuals. Who cares if he was Muslim, what is disturbing is this need to hide parts of his past like this. For some they say well he is Christian, but to me it is disturbing he hides this part in deep shame.

There are other aspects. Barack Obama has just "shown up" on the scene and for whatever reason these are his credentials. It doesn't matter what his life has or has not been, what he did in his life or the influences he set, he thinks and believes ALL black Americans should follow him like sheep.

To me he is playing every black American as if they are ignorant and foolish. He has no plans, just a nicely modulated voice and thats great, but with the position the countries in we need a meat and potatoes leader who can make a meal and put it on the table not just stand around and tell you that it smells really delicious.

And this is who Barack Obama is the guy who stands around telling you dinner smells good while it is being made and put on the table. He's just not able to contribute substantively at this point in time.

Obama needs to answer Pres. Clinton's inaccurate and misleading attacks, but there is NO WAY Obama can win against the political genius of the former President. The way for Obama to succeed is to SHOW his considerable experience doing civil rights work and community organizing in a way that middle America can sink its teeth into. If Obama will take answer and question sessions as Bill did during his '92 campaign, giving real answers to real bread and butter concerns, he'll fare much better than the Clintons. He should also point out that Hillary isn't in charge of her own candidacy, Bill is. The only reason she's the "first viable woman candidate" is because of Bill's enormous popularity. Voters need to be reminded that Hillary is NOT Bill, and that the only person who can unite the Republican party is Hillary! She'll bring out GOP voters IN DROVES in November, and if Dems really want to win back the White House, they'd be wise to keep this in mind. I think in some ways, Barack is too in love with the historical nature of his candidacy. If he doesn't get over himself, he'll have to settle for being a senator from Illinois for at least another 4 years.

He has writers, as do all candidates, who help make suggestions and edit. But essentially Obama's speeches are his own work.

No one has attempted to compare Obama with Dr. King, except the Clinton spin machine that will lie, cheat, destroy and do anything else to win. Novice? Tell me what Hillary Clinton has done. She was a law clerkj for a REPUBLICAN congressman, a Goldwater supporter, then the wife of a governor and a president without even secirity clearance. She may have had an education of sort, and she might have influenced Bill in some ways, buut she had RESPONSIBLITY for Nothing until she rode her husband's name to a seat in the Senate. Obama worked in the streets of Chicago, gaining some real life experience, then sat in the Illinois legislature. He currently is a US Senator on the Foreign Affairs Committee and other places where he has access to information.

A "privileged" life? Cathy obvious knows nothing. He was born into poverty. HIs father ran awau before he was two years old. He had only his mother for support and she worked in various jobs. He got into Harvard on his intelligence and scholarship, became head of the law review, a singular honor. Privileged? Hardly. He wasn't even middle-class. Hillary grew up in a comfortbale home of upper class status. She had the privilege if anyone did. BUt Clinton supporters like Cathy don;t want the facts. They merely like to attack, just like the Clintons.

Regarding Obama's speeches, he is a writer himself so whether or not he has speechwriters, I'm sure he more than contributes to the content and no one is his equal on delivery. He has that rare ability to connect and draw you in. I'm sure Hillary can afford the best writers as well so why the difference? Obama has talent and charisma and she doesn't. Simple as that.

Unfortunately what Obama doesn't have is a spouse who is a former president. The press gives attention and undue weight to every whiny, complaining, and misleading thing he says. She is not succeeding on her own merit if she is dependent on Bill to take her opponents down.

Even more frightening is the perception by the country of this developing into a co-presidency. The only thing that would unite Republicans and Independents more is the prospect of taking down not only Hillary but getting another shot at Bill as well. If he continues to inject himself into her campaign this aggressively there is going to be a backlash. Maybe too late for Obama to gain the nomination but certainly not too late to derail a Democratic victory in the fall.
