You're right, Johnny Gun. The Republicant Party was looking at the chance to realign the entire nation after the 2000 election, and especially after 9/11. Bush, Cheney and Rove blew it so badly that it's almost hard to believe it. If it were a novel we were reading, we'd toss it in the trash for being beyond the realm of possibility. Now, thanks to that dynamic trio, the Republicants are heading toward well-deserved political oblivion for the next election cycle. None too soon. None too soon.

None of the Republicans really get me all warmed up. Romney has the hair of Reed Richards (of the Fantastic Four) and the flip floppy (and stretch to meet the audience) ability as well, but not the brains. Rudy doesn't have the support being so not conservative (pro-gun control and homosexual rights); McCain supports amnesty and didn't vote for Bush's tax cuts despite supporting them now. Huckabee isn't conservative enough on some of the fiscal issues for many since he was in favor of raising some taxes. That leaves Ron Paul who would eliminate just about everything that keeps people safe except the military; I guess he thinks states can maintain the interstate highway system with no federal money among other problems with his thinking.
