After the speech he spoke....... He's always talking to people but notice, nNEVER taking questions like Hillary does all the time now. If Obama's so great, why is he afraid to debate Hillary? She's has two disasterous debates but is still willing to put up. He should too, or shut up. All Obama's done is hold star-studded rallies where he doesn't even take questions. And 3/4 of the states he's won weren't even primaries, but caucuses which are not at all representative of the population and totally undemocratic. How many of us have several hours to travel miles from home to be pressured in front of others to vote for a particular person instead of making up our minds in private as the founders intended?

jerry/corpus christi texas: let's be truthful here. The mayor of New Orleans dropped the ball in the days leading up to the hurricane, by not evacuating people by bus. I can't for the life of me understand why he was voted back into office.

Also, I believe New Orleans would have survived the hurricane am I right? Wasn't it the levees that destroyed the city?

President Bush showed no leadership to speak of. How can we have a president who has to be shown a CD of the devastation which the whole world was aware of?

Because there have already been 452 democratic debates in the last 6 months. The few differences between the two candidates are very distinct and well know and the only advantage to having a debate every week is to try to create "a moment" that you can then use to beat your opponent over the head with. Create "a moment" so you can distract the voters from the issues. The Clintons need to find something to slow Obama's movement.

When the race is clean and issue driven, Obama shines. When it's down and dirty, the Clintons are at there best. And if there isn't anything to get dirty with, then ya gotta make something.

It has nothing to do with being scared, it has to do with speaking to voters on the campaign trail face to face in order to make your case. It's good politics for Obama and the best direction for his campaign.

Second, I see Hillary's spin on the debate issue has taken hold. There have been more debates this cycle than ever before - if people don't know the candidates' policy positions by now, another 6 debates aren't going to help. The only reason Hillary supports this idea if because it's a chance to grab some free media that she desperately needs and that she doesn't have to write another check out of her bank account for.

Why should Obama take time away from his campaign to accomodate the needs of his opponent who is clearly running out of resources? Hillary is welcome to follow obama around and address her issues to the same people he's addressing his to. She has after all raised over 100 million dollars by the end of decemeber for this race. And added 18 Million with her efforts and loan in january alone.

Obviously, because he isn't falling for yet another of Clinton's dirty manipulative tricks to try and save her campaign. She wants more debates because she wants to keep him from meeting with voters since everywhere he gets the time to talk with voters he wins, often over coming twenty and thirty point margins that favored Clinton.
I've noticed that Clinton supports are becoming more and more bitter, cynical, and divisive as this campaign goes on. Some of the bile and vitriol they are levelling at Obama is simply astounding. It is almost as telling of the candidate they support as her campaign's attempts to spin barely surviving super tuesday into a victory. If Hillary had lost any of those big states where she won, everyone a place she held double digit leads until days before the election, she would be finished already. Now she gets to hang on through and keep trying to spin expectations and near defeats into "victories".
I hope democrats wise up and realize that they need independents to win in November, and most of us won't vote for Hillary, even if it does mean four more years of the republicans.

I know I'm tired of watching the candidates repeat the same talking points over and over again, as are many people I have spoken to. These debates are not really "debates" anyway; they are "question and answer" sessions... not very informative. I would rather have the candidates go out and actually spend their time meeting voters rather than on television.

Given her recent financial situation, Clinton wants debates not to "inform the electorate" but to essentially give herself free TV air time. Notice that when Clinton was running for re-election for her Senate seat that she repeatedly refused requests from her opponent to debate.

Ummm, I realize that most of you Hillary supporters aren't quite au fait with current news, but Senators Clinton and Obama have debated about every other week. Frankly, Clinton does not debate well.

As to how a caucus is run? If you haven't been to one, try not to sound ignorant. Our caucus site was right up the road from our house, 10 minutes away, no farther then if I had gone to vote. My daughter's was 1/2 a block from her house. You go there to cast your vote for your candidate. No pressure, and you don't have to stay for the business part.

As to Bush and Katrina? His aides had to make a dvd that they were fearful of showing him so he would realize that a major American City had been wiped out. And that is not to say that the mayor did much better.

I am getting turned off to the Obama campaign (originally I was happy with either Obama or Clinton) but I feel like blacks in general have forgotten everything the Clintons did to support race equality and have turned against the Clintons because Obama is black (many blacks are making this a contest about race instead of issues). If whites voted 80% plus majorities for Hillary over Obama every headline would read that this country has a long way to go but nothing is said when blacks vote 80% plus for a black leader. I actually made my first donation to Hillary today. She and Bill have proven they will work and they will change things. There are too many uncertainties for this country now to take people at their word when there is a proven choice.

Also, I live in Illinois and personally I couldn't tell you anything that Obama has done in the two years I've lived here other than talk about or run for President.

Kaine was one of the first to endorse Obama, last January or February - whenever it was he announced his candidacy. I mean it was like the next day, when Obama flew to Richmond to meet with Kaine and Mark Warner.

Regarding the debate line of attack by Clinton supporters, I think y'all might want to go back to the Manchurian Muslim thing. At least a few people seemed to believe that one.

People have seen a lifetime's worth of debates between these candidates. Wasn't it just a few cycles ago when we'd have only three? And Clinton calling for another one every week just sounds like a desperate, cash-strapped candidate grasping at free straws.

I couldn't agree with you more, "just asking."
Obama can't win closed primaries, or contests in which only Democrats vote. He wins caucuses and primaries that allow independents and Republicans to participate. So how could he represent himself to be the "Democratic" candidate? He would-be chosen to represent our party, by people who don't even belong to it.
Then too, there is the question of the kind of campaign he's run. Obama and his proxies have viciously attacked, and race-baited Mrs. Clinton constantly throughout the course of the last few months. Then they sit back with a..."who-me?"...look on their faces and claim that she attacked them first. It's called a 'box-manuver' in political circles. You go on the offense and then quickly accuse your victim of doing exactly what you, yourself, did. It is a filthy, dirty political trick which the G.O.P. has employed for years to perfection, and it's something that one Democrat should never do to another.
Also, this thing with him tacitly threatening super-delegates to vote for him should be unacceptable. What if the candidate who got the most delegates going into the convention was totally incompetant? That's exactly what super delegates are there for. The party itself should indeed have some input, some say as to who represents it in a national election. That's why super delegates are allowed to vote for whomever they want with no ties or restrictions, and that's the way it should be!
Furthermore, if Obama and his proxies are really that worried about the people's voices being heard at the convention, THEN HE SHOULD BE IN FAVOR OF SEATING DELEGATES FROM MICHIGAN & FLORIDA! Both of which Hillary won.
After all, the sanctions imposed by The DNC for moving up their primary dates punish only the voters. If I was from either state, and I had no representation at The Convention, I'd tell the party to go to hell and I'd vote for a Republican.
Finally, I'm sick of the slanted coverage that Obama is getting from the media. It's disgusting. Everything he says or does gets "spun" in a positive light, and everything Hillary does gets potrayed negatively.
I don't know about you...but, here's what I'm going to do about it; I'll vote Democrtatic ONLY, and mean ONLY if Hillary is the party's nominee for President.
If Obama somehow worms his way into the nomination, I will consider John McCain as an alternative to him. Now, I'm not going to sit here and sing McCains' praises because I am a lifelong Democrat.
But he would be a damn sight better than Obama, and it would make a point to few other people as well.
The independents need to be shown who's in charge of The Democratic party. They claim we can't win without them, and I say it's the other way around. If Obama were to become President it would feed into their power-trip.
But, if he were to lose the general election because of, say, "McCain Democrats" then they along with everyone else would know who decides elections in this country. I know the idea of another Republican in The White House is abhorant to some.
But, ANYTHING would be better than Obama, and we could get rid of McCain in four years if things went badly. As opposed to our party not wanting to "primary" Obama for the Presidency in 2012, and risking him being a one termer because of his cocky-incompetance.
And that only if he were to get elected, which I sincerley don't think he will. McCain would clean Obama's clock in a general election anyway. So we might as well show our displeasure and give Obama a rousing send-off by making it a landslide.
Like I said, all this could be avoided if Hillary gets the nomination.
But if she doesn't, then start getting used to the term "McCain Democrats' because you'll be hearing it for the next four years.

It has been explained to death, that Obama's "present" votes in Illinois, did not mean he was refusing to vote. He had a problem with a certain aspect of the vote, voted present so it would return to negotiations, and then voted for it afterwards. As far as the vote on Iran, he was there when it was originally scheduled to be voted on. Reid cancelled it without explanation. Reid called for the vote, and did not give Obama enough time to get back to Congress from where he was campaigning. It's no secret that the Clintons and Reid are friends. Quite frankly, there should be more debates because Obama never says what he's going to change or how he's going to change it. The real reason Obama is afraid to debate anymore is because he doesn't like answering questions.

Four out of the next seven are 'closed' primaries,...the kind Obama doesn't win.
And one last thing...Hillary isn't out of money. She lent her campaign $5 million, which is not an uncommon practice, and since Tuesday she's had her best 48 hours worth of fundraising to date. The reports of her campaign staff working for free are GREATLY exagerated. Every campaign, including Obama's, has volunteers who don't draw salary. Sensationalism, and yellow journalism abound these days.

Well voters, Hillary Clinton's life has been an open book, she has passed the test of standing up to the Republican dirty-trick attacks for years, we know her policies (she has spelled them out for months), she takes questions (some very inappropriate ones) and answers honestly and intellegently.

OBAMA CHANGED HIS MESSAGE ON MEETING WITH WORLD LEADERS (now he would take some time before meeting)
IN A CNN INTERVIEW. HE MADE A STATEMENT THAT HILLARY WOULD NOT MEET WITH WORLD LEADERS, AND SORRY FOLKS THAT IS NOT TRUE. SHE STATED THAT "FIRST" SHE WOULD MAKE SURE THE DIPLOMATIC MEETINGS WERE SINCERE AND NOT BEING USED AS A PROPAGANDA TOOL AGAINST A SITTING US PRSIDENT. BUT SHE DID INDEED PROMISE TO MEET. SHE IS THE PERSON WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF TRAVELING AROUND THE WORLD AS FIRST LADY AND KNOWS HOW TO TALK WITH THESE LEADERS. SHE HAS BEEN TO THE MIDDLE EAST FOR HANDS-ON-EXPERIENCE. Why is Obama distorting her statements?

We all have "HOPE", we all like "A MOMENT",
but we must have a better "FUTURE". I believe
Sen. Hillary Clinton has what it takes to make this happen.

NEWS FLASH: The Republican machine has been motivated from day one to stop Hillary Clinton from getting the nomination. The cast of characters in the media bashing her and the Republican crossover votes in Iowa and N.H. were Karl Rove's new job for the Republicans. They wanted this Obama movement because they think they can win in November.
Obama did answer one question about him being more vulnerable to their attacks than Hillary, he answered "...the notion that there's not a whole dump truck they can back up, is just not true.."
Not a very Presidential response. I thought that he is standing on a platform of no slash/burn politics.
He has made so many negative attacks on Sen. Clinton even after sitting on stage smiling his "I liked her before and I'll like her after" statement. I guess he was auditioning for Hollywood. Since then, he has shown his true colors..not keeping his word to run a clean campaign. Obama promises to get out of the past, yet his mentor Sen. Kennedy represents 25 years of the old Washington politics. Obama is a politician and that is that. He is using negative campaign tactics.

I am sorry Obama supporters, I think Obama needs more experience for the job of President. Come back in four years. Take some lessons from Colin Powell who was ready to run for President but Bush spoiled that for him, sorry to say. (He should be a Democrat)
I am not being cynical, I am being hopeful. If Obama
is truly a great candidate he must offer a great resume for this most important job of president.
He has admitted some "in retrospect it was a mistake" about his real estate deal, and that's great to admit it, but it does show a lack of good "judgment", which is one of his attacks against Hillary. They will go after Obama like pit-bulls.

I WOULD ASK THE CANDIDATES:

IS THERE ANYTHING IN YOUR PAST OR PRESENT THAT
THE REPUBLICAN ATTACK MACHINE CAN USE AGAINST YOU THAT YOU HAVE NOT DISCLOSED TO THE AMERICAN VOTER?
AND IS THERE ANYTHING COMING UP IN THE FUTURE THAT WOULD HARM YOUR CHANCES OF A WIN FOR THE DEMOCRAT
PARTY?

Debates are useless at this point. Anyone who would watch a new debate has already seen several between these players and the difference in their positions is negligible. The real question is who can WIN the general election and GOVERN effectively as president. That's Barack Obama by far in my opinion! Hillary Clinton is hated by close to half of this nation and many others will not support her under any circumstances. It's not her fault, but it's true! She is the only Democrat that could loose the general election, and even if she wins, those that oppose her will do so vehemently and she'll never get anything done. Maybe denying her the presidency plays right into the Republican’s hands, but gridlock is costly, wasteful and stupid. For the sake of the nation the next president must help Republicans to start thinking “independently” again. Unfortunately, Clinton can’t do that and I fear her presidency will result in extended, visceral battles that leave important issues like national health-care and immigration on the table for someone who can. Barack Obama has broad-based support, including Independents, new younger voters as well as some Republicans. I’ve convinced several Republicans to support Obama because they understand that the change in political discourse he’s talking about is what America needs at this critical juncture in her history. Many of us making a normal wage don't know this, so I'm going to simplify it. FICA taxes are 6.2% of every dollar you earn, but once you hit $100,000 income, you pay NO more FICA taxes. Earn $100, your taxes are $6.20. Earn $10,000, your taxes are $620. Earn $100,000 your taxes are $6,200. Earn $1,000,000 your taxes are ... $6,200. Um, wait. Yep. Earn $10,000,000, your FICA taxes come to, wait for it, $6,200.

How is THAT fair? If I make $100,000 I pay as much in FICA as a guy who makes a kajillion dollars?

You're right I was not going to get into name calling, and if you check my post I did not.

However, since you asked I am quite well educated, and have been to Chicago many times. Nice people, but sorry to disappoint you... no one ran any rings around me. My thoughts are my own, not from a campaign or candidate.

I am tired of having a President who can't verbalize a coherent thought, and I am the first to say that Obama is a good speaker (though better by far in a speach than a debate - which by the way is the real reason he won't agree to debate Clinton - as he is not ahead and she is not out of money).

I just (a) wish he said something a little more useful than hope for change, and (b) think he should be a little more worried about whether change is enacted than in whether he brings together Republicans and Independents to do it. The point is to enact laws to stop global warming, bring down the federal gov't deficit spending, get out of Iraq carefully and quickly, and enact universal health care to name a few. The Republican's are not going to sign on to this no matter how nicely he asks.

Sun Tzu believed (correctly) that if you can dictate the terms of where and when you fight your opponent then the battle can be won before it even starts. That's what Hillary's trying to do...dictate the terms of this campaign for Obama.

If she can bait him into debates once a week she can dictate the terms of where and when he campaigns and put him under some of the limitations that she may suffer from with dwindling funds.

Talk about avalanches here in Colorado, Barack Obama won an amazing 67% of the vote (a bigger percentage than his home state of Illinois at 64%). More Democrats voted for Obama than participated in the entire Republican caucus. Colorado, formerly a red state, is now very much leaning blue.

The media keeps emphasizing Hillary is ahead in the delegate count because of the backing of Super delegates and the cashing in of IOUs in the party establishment. However, it seems as though the “media’s” shameless, sleazy, “tabloid like" coverage of the Democratic and Republican primaries has had a PROFOUND impact on the outcome of these primaries. Thankfully, I’m not the only person who has noticed that the “media’s” coverage of the Democratic Primary is SEVERELY skewed and clearly favors Barak Obama.

To that end, I invite my fellow Americans to “cruise” through the blogs on CNN & MSNBC. Although some of the more controversial comments haven’t been posted, you’ll notice that many other American’s share my disgusted with CNN’s & MSNBC’s RAPTUROUS FASCINATION with the “Obama Phenomenon”. Moreover, it seems as though CNN & MSNBC have virtually coroneted Obama as the Democratic nominee . Heck, why should we even bother to vote??? The “media” has already made the decision for us…

Furthermore, I’m ABSOLUTELY FLABBERGASTED by the number of mindless “Obama GROUPIES” who are so lost in his flowery rhetoric, they’ve completely overlooked his glaringly sparse record of political achievements.

Therefore, I invite you “Obama JUNKIES” to explain why you believe that Obama is qualified for the Presidency. What are the major accomplishments can you list? Thus far, it seems as though is his only “claim to fame” is his opposition to the Iraq war.

Heck, I also opposed the Iraq war from the very beginning…Does that make me qualified to be President???? And although I’ll admit that Obama’s oratory skills are remarkable, poetic rhetoric DOES NOT make him qualified the be Commander & Chief…

Secondly, you “Obama GROUPIES” have FAILED TO NOTICE that his voting record is almost IDENTICAL to Hillary Clinton’s voting record. SO EXACTLY WHAT CHANGE IS OBAMA GOING TO ELIVER, GIVEN THAT HE SEEMS TO AGREE WITH EACH HILLARY’S LEGISLATIVE POSITIONS???

Hilary needs to release her tax records first!!! Why won't she release them or the sealed library documents about her time in the White House? What is she afraid of? What is there
to hide? How can she have transparency in her government, when she herself refuses to offer transparency? But she's ready and willing to garnish our wages for her mandated health care plans. That's just the beginning of the mandates, brothers and sisters. As for debates, while Barack is preparing and doing the debates, Bill is out campaigning, the former president, throwing his weight around all over the place.(the co-presidency; when Biden was asked if we would like to be vice-president, he said, "No, I don't want to compete with Bill, thank-you.") So much for the first woman president. Enough debates have happened. The public is sick of them, already and don't even watch anymore.

To all those saying Obama has no substance, do your duty as a voter, go to his website and read it for yourself. The candidates do what they do best when campaigning. If Hillary could speak to people like Obama does, what do you think she would be doing. Also, both candidates know that the only way to get Washington moving is to get the voters involved in the process. When Hillary can't get any of her bills passed, she'll just point the finger at the Republicans and hope you buy it. Do we want more of the same blame games or do we want them to get something done.
Anyone notice that suddenly the Clinton staffers were not going to be working for free after all. Nice ploy to get some more money. I can't take this any more. For those of you who complain that Obama has only won small states or states that aren't part of the democratic party, guess what. Those are the states that you need to win to be President. They are called swing states because the don't have a long history of going either Democratic or Republican. If you don't win those states you go home. The states Hillary has won are all strong dem states. Obama has won the swing states that usually decide the election. In short, he has a better chance to beat Republicans in those states. Look at Missouri and do a little math. Take out the independents who voted for Obama and give them to McCain. Hillary might win, she might not. Obama wins that state by a big margin. Anymore quesitons.
Don't think Hillary's money problems are going unnoticed either. Gee couldn't manage 100 million dollars, how are you going to manage the economy.
McCain's problem with conservative voters in the south, erased if Hillary is the nominee.

It is amazing to me that the only source of Hillary's confidence is in debating. I feel as if she needs to be consistently arguing to be credible. I feel sorry for Billy boy. In a time of national crisis, is she going to offer to debate the entire nation? Clearly, she does not have the gift of inspiration and the ability to motivate the masses.

On the topic of campaign funds - if she does not have the far sighted vision on how she is going to manage her campaign funds, how is she going to get us our of the national deficit? I am sure diping into her own funds will not be an option at a national level. All I see here is more of the same and an inability to understand the meaning of change. Obama is clearly showing better leadership and judgement yet again.

Until today, Obama has only been to New Orleans one time, and that was to get his picture taken holding a hammer. I liked and planned to vote for him until he started saying that Hillary's voters would vote for him, but his wouldn't vote for her. That is when I realized he's all for himself and if he can't win, he won't encourage his supporters to vote for Hillary so he cares more for his ego than the country. His wife also hedged on saying she would support Hillary when she was interviewed. I now will vote for and have made my first financial contribution to Hillary Clinton, who unlike Obama, actually says what she will DO when hope is not enough.

Because that's valuable time he could be spending getting his name out in more states - you see there's a trend, when people get to hear Obama's message, they vote for him. So why, waste your time debating Clinton and dealing with her spin on how her vote for the Iraq war was not for military action, when you can be winning primaries and caucuses? You can combat the Clinton machine's spin head on by interacting with the actual people who vote... if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Obama should win a clean sweep of primaries and caucuses in Feb leaving him the only viable candidate for Novemeber... certainly without those 48% general public disapproval rankings and 87% republican disapproval rankings.

My question is this; if Mrs. Clinton has a history of poorly managing her money in campaigns in the Senate and now in the Presidency, how can we trust her to run the country!!!! One of the big scandals out of her Senate campaign was her lax financial controls. Now it comes out she had $35 Mil. when she loaned her campaign $5 Mil; unfortunately $20 Mil. was earmarked for the general campaign and couldn’t be used. Furthermore her campaign strategy was similar to Kerry's in 2004, she spent all her money and time in the big states hoping for a knockout blow and thought her name recognition would carry her in smaller states that weren’t important enough for her to campaign in. Compared to Obama who campaigned in any state that would have him.

In other words her cash problem was caused by bad planning and counting her chickens before they hatched. How can I trust Clinton to be fiscally responsible in the White House and ready on day one when she can't even control her campaign? I mean they spent $800,000 on PARKING for goodness sakes.

Finally, can anyone explain to me why this: Nearly three years after the Clinton Library opened—and more than 21 months after its trove of records became subject to the Freedom of Information Act—barely one half of 1 percent of the 78 million pages of documents and 20 million e-mail messages at the federally funded facility are PUBLIC, according to the National Archives?

Question: How did Obama get a 30 second tv commercial for 250,000 dollars when the going rate was 2.7 million? As far as the debates go Obama is not scared just smart. One bad answer and it hurts him. Anyway does not matter because he will not and cannot win the general election. He will get run out of town by the GOP and as much as I support Clinton she will too. As far as change goes most people seem to forget the President is just a figure head. Congress hold all the cards for change. If they do not want to change then change does not happen. One thing I have noticed by reading these posts and others is I am scared if he does not win the nomination or become president. His supporters and media seem to think it is owed to him. The whole "It's my turn to be president" idea is arrogant and stupid. I don't care who's turn it is. I want the best leader, Mr. Obama.

I am a Michigan resident, who boycotted the Primary due to lack of choice. If the DNC, or specifically Clinton decides to attempt re-instating the MI delegates, she has lost any hope of my support. As it is now I will support her if she is the nominee. But if she tries to usurp the power of the DNC, or the rules that SHE agreed to in good faith. that will be it for me. I am tiring quickly of the Clinton accusations and attacks. ANOTHER DEBATE, J. C. in heaven we just had one last week. Why should he stop campainging to suit HER agenda.
