Now McCain is using Obama's lines? Too funny. Somehow it doesn't seem to fit him as well as Obama.

All joking aside, assuming for a moment these two will face off against one another, it will be a fun campaign. My guess is there will be a lot of good natured shots back and forth, as opposed to a mean, nasty knock-down, drag-out. Both will obviously try to win, and will seek to differentiate himself from the opponent, but I think there's a chance it could actually be a mature and respectful contest.

Wow does this guy look worn out. He needs for Huck to lay off him so he can catch up on his sleep. It was scary seeing his "victory speech" last night--no enthusiasm from him or his crowd. It was really embarassing vs. Obama's envigorating speech to a viabrant crowd. McC needs to take his vitamins. Looks like he's eight years too late (and the country would have been far better served.)

Mc Cain vs Clinton-a real dog fight in the making if it happens. Obama vs McCain-let's hope the primary enthusiasm shows up at the polls in November for Obama otherwise the Republican "smear and fear" machine will make mincemeat of the "skinny kid with a funny name". Glad to see the 'racism' element abating somewhat, but there are still too many uneducated white racist gun nuts on the loose out there to make life precarious for any president whose blood is 'tainted' . It is still disappointing to see the level of mysogynist attitudes among our male population, however the future looks encouraging.I could live with McCain, but his loyalties rest primarily with his political party above all other persuasions. Despite his proven patiotism, that's scary.

From what we saw last night, “fired up and ready to go” aptly describes one of the two front-running candidates, but it’s not Senator McCain. Viewed only from the standpoint of effective rhetorical techniques, it is fair to say that Senator Obama will take Senator McCain apart in any debate. Contrary to what most republicans may think, on national security issues, Senator Obama’s task is extremely easy. He is “pure” on the war in Iraq, while Senator McCain has joined himself at the hip with George W. Bush, and now faces the consequences of his own choice. He will have to defend his statement that we may need to stay in Iraq for 100 years and explain (a) how we will pay for it; (b) how we will manage to maintain our current troop concentration in light of the growing pressures caused by the surge; and (c) what on earth we might possibly accomplish by it. He needs to defend our failed strategies in Pakistan and Afghanistan and to articulate how we can confront the greatly renewed terrorist threat from those countries, while maintaining a large presence in Iraq. He needs to explain how he thinks he can get our allies in Europe and Australia to help us when they won’t answer a call from Mr. Bush. He needs to articulate a policy for Iran that’s more than “bomb, bomb, bomb,” and finally, he needs to confront the failure of the Bush administration to close any kind of deal between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Make no mistake, Senator, this is a very difficult task. Just saying you are fired up and ready to go will not be enough -- not this year.

"Biggest landslide in history"?!? God its February.. and Obama's lead is around 5 or 6 points; FDR defeated Landon by Nearly 20. Most of Obama's current separation is based on the fact that McCain is taking on a lot of bad press right now because of the sore losers on the right of my party. The polls will tighten significantly as McCain will bludgeon Obama on foreign policy (in the same way that he did Romney) and call into question Obama's rhetoric of 'hope' with no substance. You can also be sure that McCain's campaign will do a great job making sure that America draws the sharp distinction between the draft-dodging polarizer GWB, and a true American hero with a history of the bipartisanship that the nation so sorely yearns for right now. But please cast McCain in the role of underdog.. in fact, just leave him for dead. If history has taught us anything, that's just the way he likes it.

Doug, I'm rather indifferent about the FairTax, but if you think that Huckabee is any more committed to securing our borders than McCain, you should realize that shortly before this campaign, Huckabee also was against immigration enforcement and was pro-amnesty. Don't believe me? Do some research on the LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) convention in Littlerock in June 2005 when Huck was the keynote speaker...

His speech advocated for open borders and amnesty. He also called immigration enforcement efforts within the U.S. as “un-Christian, un-American, irresponsible and anti-life.”

Mccain was a war hero and deserves the utmost respect for the price he paid 6 yrs of his youth lost to torture as a pow. fuck Rush ,Shawn,Mark laVinn and any other of these talk show hosts who attack Mccain just for having a mind of his own and not following 100% of the far right nuts who have done more in the past 7yrs to attack free speech whichich they ironically accuse john mccain of simply for trying to prevent elections from being bought by huge special interests that crush the voice of the average American Citizen. He at least helped to limit some of that and return some ability of the average citizen to way in. while imperfect at least he proved to me that hes not a robot. since when does not being a george bush, limbaugh, hannity,lavinn ditto head ur a great american blah,blah,blah,blah,blah make him a so called maverick. He s right in the center where 85% of american are. whats more hes willing to compromise we might actually get something done thats benificial to our country in the capital if thi so called maverick becomes president. Terrence -- agreed. He's not my candidate, but Huckabee would have a far better chance of standing up to either Obama or Clinton in a debate. McCain will struggle, both on defense (more so if it's Obama) and on domestic issues (after all, he hasn't read Greenspan's book and, like the Wizard of Oz, doesn't know how it works). On domestic issues, Huckabee even sounds a little like Clinton with regard to the public works stimulus idea. Clinton would have problems with both republicans on the war and national security because, like John Kerry, she was for the war until she was against it, but unlike Kerry, she can't admit that voting for the war was a mistake. Is that because she doesn't really believe it was?

Bush,while visiting the region late last year took the extraordinary step of blaming both sides in the conflict even as Israeli PM Olmert was standing next to him. No other president in modern history has done this either.
Pass to Obama,and it was he who defended a military invasion of Pakistan. What he would ''solve''with such a tactic is beyond me as the quite fluid al Qaeda would merely seek another hole,while engaging the US against Pak forces in another general war in another ME nation.
Obama was out to lunch on the FISA reform bill now passed by the Senate. This will severely damage his anti-terror credentials,as it places him within the ranks of the Kossacks in his leftwards lurch.[21 Democrats,all moderates,joined the GOP[including McCains ''yea''vote], in passing this bill,as it is foolhardy in the extreme to kneecap the surveillance of electronic methods depended upon by the jihadi in order to allow him the means to launch further attacks against not merely the US,but Europe and Canada as well]. Obama is not the one. If elected,these threats will not disappear with platitudes or weak threat. They will increase.
