1. EVERYONE in this country is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. I say again, until PROVEN guilty.

2. The New York Times has offered NO PROOF, none. If you have proof, then present it, and let the chips fall where they may. It you can’t present any actual verifiable proof, then you don’t have anything.

3. The information in the story comes from “Anonymous” sources “Off” the record, not “Named” sources “On” the record.

4. Both of the principles involved in this allegation by the Times, John McCain and Vicki Iseman have both vehemently denied the allegation.

5. This story has been floating around in the press since last Fall and the Times could have run the story months ago, but instead have waited until now. Why? The whole thing is suspect.

6. It is irresponsible of the Times or any organization that would exploit this story for political gain, especially since there is no proof that anything inappropriate has occurred.

Rush Limbaugh seems to have a very serious misconception about the role of the media.

He seems angry at the media for "turning on McCain" after McCain courted the media, gave them access, et. al.

A politician (or any source, really) should NEVER be able to alter the media's behavior in terms of covering stories negative to him or herself.

In other words, you shouldn't court reporters hoping they'll spare you if you do something stupid.

That being said, the NYT article is mostly unsubstantiated B.S. and the timing seems particularly targeted. But please Rush, criticize the NYT for running a story that is under-reported and has little substance.

Do NOT criticize the NYT or the media for stabbing a politician in the back after he "reached across the aisle" to them. If politicians could truly stave off negative press by buttering up reporters, this great republic of ours is in a pile of deep, fecal-colored trouble.

It looks like to me there is a smoke screen. Instead of looking at McCains background, you should look into his wife. If anyone can be accused of infidelity, I think she is the one. And this story is a cover up so know one looks into here background. Also has anyoney ever thought of this; McCain is 75 years old, has anyone given him an Alzheimer's test. He could be pretty close, and if so, who would run the country? Would the republicians do the same thing they did for Regan and cover it up? How dishonest can they get?

I'm not a republican, and no fan of Romney, but I do have to say if this story came out in December, Romney would be the Republican nominee. Somehow this soes seem strange to me that they sat on the story until now, where it couldn't hurt McCain.

Conservatives have a strong tradtion and I have never understood why they allign themselves with this self serving radio talk show host. This political movement deserves much more than "Rush" or his hatefull messages every morning.

Does Rush suggest that the media not report a story simply because it involves a candidate that they support? Whether or not the timing of the story was manipulated aside, the story itself is not that damning. I think John will be fine. These are the types of stories the media offers, because these are the types of stories the American public wants. Until America demands better reporting and less tabloid fodder from our news outlets we are going to be inundated with this kind of Page 3 material.

I happen to know for a fact that Bud Paxson who was the CEO of Paxson Communications was cutting checks out of his personal account to pay the lobbyist in this story. I know because I worked at Paxson and saw the checks with my own eyes. McCain took this money from Bud so he could buy the station in Pittsburg, which was taking forever to be approved by the FCC. Then McCain wrote the letters on Bud’s behalf to see the deal approved. It’s that simple and I’m laughing because everyone is bashing the NY Times when they are 100% correct. If McCain is so honest ask him to supply the media with the checks that were issued to him and the lobbyist. The real story here is taking money for legislative favors not an affair. The media needs to follow the money and ignore the affair. The money is where this story is!!!!

The NY Times reported this piece in a "boxed story" as part of their page 1 "Campaign '08".

VT,Ohio is right to a certain extent about media feeding frenzys and our "demands" to be fed as Americans. But, regardless as to when this story was released,(if it was released in Dec., prior to the NH primary, we'd all be crying foul... since it was released AFTER the NY Times endorsed McCain we have to assume that they will be following up)... this speaks to McCain's integrity NOW as he denies it! McCain today also gives (unsolicited) credibility to one NAMED source, John Weaver, who said he met with the lobbyist and told her to stay away from McCain! And where was McCain's usual easy and quick temper that he is famous for... he once asked a fellow Senator to support his campaign against GWBush, and told the Senator "FU" when that Senator said he was supporting Bush!

Poor McCain, I liked him in 2000 when Bush "swiftboated" him with the illegitimate Vietnam child lie! And, I liked him even better when another GWBush 527 said that he was a TRAITOR for talking to his N.Vietnam captors!

But since I have always doubted his intelligence AND his integrity for hugging & kissing Bush and begging for Conservative acceptance from the same peole who tried to destroy him...

He's now just an irrelevant idiot who probably deserves everything they throw at him... who cares anymore?

Interesting conspiracy theory. The media set up McCain to be the leading Republican candidate because they knew they would knock him down late. Rush is a genius. I think all the dittoheads should start promulgating it far and wide. It will be the perfect excuse as to why they lost come November. The same way they use the excuse that we "lost" Vietnam because of the media and the way we will have "lost" Iraq because of the media. No personal responsibility -- it is the American conservative way.
