I'm SICK & TIRED listening to Senator Clinton saying that she has this 35 years of experience and READY ON DAY ONE.

Well SHE CAN'T EVEN TAKE CHARGE OF HER OWN CAMPAIGN NOW WITH all that experience, plus having been thru 2 presidential elections of former president Clinton, and this is all she got? If you can't even get your primary (no less) presidential campaign together how do you expect to run a country? Talking about how Senator Obama is not ready, Obviously so far he's ready enough to go against the CLINTON MACHINE….

With all the good that comes from Senator Clinton experience also come a lot of bad ones. That 35 years of experience also give us the war in Iraq, No Child Left Behind, Bankruptcy Law, NAFTA, not to mention secrecy conduct that would rival President Bush. You would've known what you know now Senator Clinton if you bothered to read the NIE report, obviously those 35 years experience didn't lead you to that judgment. I don't know what kind of your own research that you did, what kind of advice that you got, those 35 years of experiences still DIDN'T LEAD YOU TO THE CORRECT ANSWER.

AND LET'S TALK ABOUT THIS HEALTHCARE STUFF, with all HER EXPERIENCES, I watched when she came out with her healthcare plans after John Edwards & Barack Obama came out with theirs almost a year ago, HER PLANS were basically IDENTICAL WITH JOHN EDWARDS'. So, now she has the nerve to say Barack Obama plagiarized Deval Patrick, WELL SENATOR CLINTON PLAGIARIZED JOHN EDWARDS' HEALTHCARE PLAN. This is from somebody who says she’s in the solution business? She just copied his plan and changed his name to hers. WTG Clinton, no wonder you’re the loudest crying plagiarism, YOU KNOW IT SO WELL.

I mean is this the person who supposed to be the inevitable candidate? The person who has been collecting money from donors for more than 2 decades now, and THIS IS THE BEST CAMPAIGN & MESSAGE she can deliver FROM THOSE 35 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE?

No, Senator Obama refused to say Latinos were taking African American jobs. Please check out the debate between Senator Obama and Senator Clinton in Los Angeles before Super Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Senator Obama was asked a question designed to get him to say that Latinos were negatively impacting African Americans. Instead, Senator Obama said that the politics of pitting one group against another group had to end. Senator Obama called for all groups to unite, arguing that by uniting we could make a better system for all groups, but by dividing we would be stuck in the same old system.

Senator Clinton, on the other hand, DID say during the debate in Los Angeles that Latinos were taking jobs away from African Americans.

Personally, I agree with Senator Obama's stance on the issue and this is yet another reason why I support him.

I don't understand why we still in this country feel the need to cater to particular groups/races/genders etc... specifically - that is the very action that continues to harbor division.

The hispanic culture is definately a growing and important part of our country now and will be increasingly important in the future. I get frustrated seeing the candidates change the face of their message depending on whom they are trying to please. The issues that are important to the twenty-something hispanics are also important to the twenty-something african-americans, caucations, orientals etc...we are all looking for a leader to provide a safe and prosperous future and give us opportunity to attain the American dream and provide the best possible future for the next generation. That is the universal appeal to ALL of us who are PROUD TO BE AMERICAN! I am happy to say that I have been proud to be an American since I was old enough to learn what that means. Although I am not proud of all that we do (heck, I'm not proud of all the decisions I make, much less all the decisions made by the many, many people who have lead and continue to lead this nation), I am proud of what we stand for and of the sacrifice made by millions of men and women for the advancement of my freedom and the opportunity to give that to others. 1. Bloomberg reports "Yet Clinton, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense, placed $2.2 billion worth of earmarks in spending bills from 2002-2006."
(and to think about her slamming Barack on earmarks last night..I was LOL to her hypocrisy.)
2. The biggest blunder of our generation is the illegal war in Iraq. And Hillary voted for it. This issue is not limited to different views on foreign policy positions. It has been and will have a ripple effect on social and economic wellbeing. Think about more than 2 trillion dollars or even more we will be spending by the time we get out of Iraq. Not to mention thousands of lives we lost there, and tens of thousands who got maimed physically and psychologically. I ask you "was it worth it?"

Young Americans , I am excited that you are taking interest in this election, but please, think , research, then vote with a clean heart, not a regret that you’ve hurt your country. Young Americans are not aware of a lot of thing that took place prior to their births . They need to set back and research the facts prior to voting. If Americans are in a recession and many out of work, then where is all this money that Obama camp is raising coming from? Are all his voters well to do, not according to people I meant at one of his rally’s today . I was told that he has money coming into Muslim Americans accounts and then shifted to his campaign. That could explain how is able to raise millions of dollars during a recession. Does America want a to elect a President or a motivational speaker, a speaker that may be out to hurt our way of life. Every politician has his/her own beliefs, even Bush has them. The larger and more important question we should ask ourselves is this - " Do we want another 4 years of Bush mentality?" I am not so much concerned about Hillary's vote for Iraq. The mind boggling thing is though she refuses to admit that her vote was a "mistake," whatever her reasons may be - political or personal. Bush even in the face of reality to this day refuses to admit the war in Iraq is a mistake. In our President, I want to see a leader not only of sound judgment and vision, but also of character and of willingness that when a mistake is made, he is willing to listen to reason & other views to correct the mistake. The President of the USA has the most influence not only on our lives in the States, but also on every individual on earth. If we choose a wise President, the people will be the most benifited. It is incredible to me that we "young Americans" have only been given credit by one poster on this entire message board. We understand that we need to read up on the past. We understand that we have to take that into consideration. We also understand that the past is the reason we are here right now. As far as "reading up" is concerned we, as a generation, have more at our fingertips than any generation has ever had. And, believe it or not, we do use this information revolution to our advantage.

Please understand that I get that the two candidates policies are very similar. I also have looked at their voting record and campaign budgets quite exstensively. What I, and probably most of my age group, have come to is that Obama offers a different path to what is essentially the same goal. I am not saying it is the best path, what I am saying is that it is one that has not been traveled yet. I have looked at past candidates, I understand what has been done in the past, and I look at Clinton and see no difference. I am tired of partisan issues. I am tired of red tape. I am tired of favors that overrule constituency loyalty. I am looking for a new route. If it doesn't work, fine. Let's find a different route. But to walk down the same road that has already not worked seems silly.

One more time -- NO, it was NOT Senator Obama who said that Latinos were taking African American jobs. It was Senator Clinton who said we had to "face facts" that it was true. Senator Obama refused to scapegoat any population. I watched (and taped) that debate, just watched it again to verify my memory and I am correct. Anyone who has a site (or EVEN a reference) to something different exiting Senator Obama's mouth provide that cite or reference or please refrain from Senator Obama said something that actually and definitely came out of Senator Clinton's mouth.

As for this inneundo about who is giving Senator Obama donations -- I hope this isn't coming from Senator Clinton's supporters b/c that argument is likely to backfire with a vengeance. Senator Clinton has taken more money from big donors, special interest PACS and lobbyists than anybody in primary history. On the otherhand, 80% of Senator Obama's entire campaign funds come from small donors who have given under $200. No, the facts show we really are not trust-fund babies, despite arguments to the contrary.

It is basic debate 101 that ad hominem is the last desperate act of a person who has no legitimate argument left. Senator Clinton is a qualified candidate, folks. I personally believe that Senator Obama is a much better candidate b/c he is the only one who thinks differently and could actually get us out of the box in which we find ourselves.

Nevertheless, those of you who support Senator Clinton -- try to find a reason why you support her, rather than just attempting to tear Senator Obama down with falsehoods, inneundo and bigoted commentary. Have you not noticed yet that your negativity is not working? Why don't you try out a new tact. You would be much better advocates of the candidate you claim to support, Senator Clinton, if you told us why to join you rather than telling us why we are dumb.

It probably will not work, but you could at least leave Senator Clinton, the candidate you claim to support, with some dignity.

One of the reasons that Hispanics respect both Clintons is federal appointments and their championing of diversity.

During his 8 years in office Bill Clinton had 366 federal judicial appointments including 104 women, 23 Hispanics, 5 Asian Americans, 1 Indian American, and 61 African Americans.

Clinton famously stated in 1992 that his cabinet would look like America, and he followed through with real diversity in his appointments including cabinet positions for the following Hispanics, Frederico Peña, Bill Richardson, Aida Alvarez.

Overall Bill Clinton appointed more women to his cabinet that any other president in history with 11 total appointments including:
Madeleine Albright, Laura D'Andrea Tyson, Janet Reno, Donna Shalala, Alexis Herman, etc.
Bill Clinton had 2,160 total senate confirmed appointments of which 592 were women. Both Hillary and Bill have promoted diversity…real diversity and they have delivered.

Hillary is not a stranger to the Hispanic community. Her long-term fight for healthcare for children and for universal healthcare resonates with Hispanic communities. She has consistently promoted the interests of Hispanic communities. And she certainly is not a stranger to areas like south Texas.

Obama has no track record with Hispanics at the federal level and a very limited record in Illinois.
Everyone accuses Hillary Clinton and her husband of being divisive. Well, isn't that exactly what Michelle Obama is when she says she will not vote for anyone BUT her husband! What arrogance and hubris!!

Everyone criticizes Hillary because they feel Bill will influence how she will run the country. Well at least he has experience - and things were better while he was in power than they have been at anytime during the last 7!! If Obama wins, it appears clear that Michelle will want to have her say as to how the White House will be run. Well, two people with no experience do not equal one with experience.

I notice in this thread that there seems to be a division between young and old (boomers vs gen-xrs and younger). Remember, JFK couldn't stop the involvement in Vietnam (nor could Johnson). Obama says he will withdraw the troops from Iraq but has also said that the military has to be increased. For what? He (and some supporters here) have applauded the recent CIA attack in Pakistan. He has made consistent statements that the efforts in Afghanistan should be increased. Do not be surprised in couple of years that we have replaced Iraq with a low-grade war in the Afghanistan/Pakistan border...and this also helped bring about the end of the Soviet Union.

No, I understand your larger point. And I do agree with you about how uniquely great this country is, one thing I find frustrating is the division of peoples on the macro and micro levels--it is the micro (as far down to groups of friends) that really disappoints me. I wish I had a solution.

The catering of Democrats might make more sense if one looks at the Republican and Democratic party compositions. The Republican party has economic, religious and warrior conservatives. These three major constituencies each desire something, but their ideologies are not in contrast or competition. The Democrats, on the other hand, consist of innumerable groups that want the same thing and thus compete with each other. The groups are not as well melded as with Republicans; therefore, the Democrats must pander for the vote. It's not fair, it's not right, but it is part of being a Democrat.

I don't hate Hillary, I think she has an exceptional mind. She is very well informed and understands the dynamics of politics and international affairs. Her problem is her approach and self interested hunger for power, for the sake of power.

Barack Obama’s delivery was not only substantive and stylistic, it was noticeably empowering!

Anyone fully Cicero-cognizant knows full well that polished persuasion requires a combination of substance and style. It’s the balanced collaboration of logos, ethos, and pathos. No Patty, you are mistaken, it was Hillary who made the reference to latinos taking jobs from African Americans. If you're going to sling mud, at least get your facts straight. Here's a reference to the Hillary quote from the L.A. debate on January 31st.

"Diving into the muck, Clinton said we have to be honest about the fact that, in many parts of the country, there have been job losses attributable to “employers who exploit undocumented workers and drive down wages.” She said she meets “people who have been pushed out of jobs and factories and meat processing plants, and all kinds of settings.” Clinton even talked about a man that she’d met - an African-American - who told her that he used to have a lot of construction jobs and that now “it seems like the only people who get them anymore are people who are here without documentation.”

Here's the reference to what Obama said at that same debate:

"The Illinois senator was asked to respond to a question from a viewer about the “negative economic impact of immigration on the African-American community” - most notably high unemployment rates and declining wages. As an undecided Hispanic voter I have been receiving calls from both parts of the democratic party , telling me why I should Support their candidate. It has been a hard choice for me. Do I go for the one candidate who has a proven record or do I go for the one with the fresh ideas. I respect both candidates and I know both of them would make a much better president that George bush, However by looking at the way things are and the bad shape in which our economy, international relations and the social lack of equality I think that Experience plays a very important role on my decision. I admire Mr. Obama and respect his candor and his desire. I think he is the type of politician we love to hear from, He speaks from his heart and passionately about issues that he fully is dedicated to. Sadly I think his decision to run for president is a rushed one. I wish he would have stayed in the senate a bit longer deal with the Washington political machine and gain the experience he need to have to be a commander that demands respect and offers solutions from day one. Hillary has the experience and the desire. I have made my decision to support senator Clinton based on what this country really needs. I am sad to turn my back on the one candidate I like the most but I will not elect one candidate based on his candor and his desire Just like any other job we need someone who can do the job and requires very little training. In my eyes Obama represents that great student just coming out of a wonderful school and who has the potential to be a magnificent employee. unfortunately he is running at a time where our issues are serious, the irresponsibility of this president has costs us Americans a lot and we are facing a dark, dark future ahead. i don't agree with the experience argument. Did Bill Gates have experience? Did George Washington have experience? It is about being capable, not experienced. I will take honest mistakes over misguided motives anyday of the week.

Hillary has experience because she shared a house with the president, but she is not capable because she is a political animal who has burned too many people. Politics is a touch game. All those people whom she burned or snubbed smell blood and are going in for the kill. It's cold but true, and noone should feel sorry for her. How many people has she burned or thrown under the bus on her rise to power. Every dog has their day...ruff, ruff!!

The military is casting doubt on Barack Obama’s claim during a debate Thursday night that for U.S. troops in Afghanistan, it was “easier to get Taliban weapons” than it was to be properly equipped by their own country.

Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said Friday he found the claim “hard to believe.”

“Despite the degree of skill and finesse that it takes to manage a large force with the number of deployments we have going on — and despite the stress that we have readily acknowledged on the force, one of the things we do is make sure that all of our servicemen that are going into harm’s way are properly trained and equipped with the leadership they need to be successful,” he said.

Obama’s campaign stands by his remarks, which he made during a debate with Hillary Clinton in Austin, Texas, while explaining why he feels he is prepared to be commander-in-chief and why the decision to enter Iraq demonstrated poor judgment.

During the debate, he said he was told by an Army captain heading a rifle platoon that he was sent to Afghanistan with 15 fewer soldiers than he was supposed to have because the other troops were sent to Iraq.

“And as a consequence, they didn’t have enough ammunition; they didn’t have enough Humvees,” Obama said. “They were actually capturing Taliban weapons, because it was easier to get Taliban weapons than it was for them to get properly equipped by our current commander-in-chief.”

Army spokesman John P. Boyce Jr. issued a statement saying: “Without a unit designation or time frame of deployment, it’s difficult for us to verify the validity of what was told to the senator. Our soldiers deploy as complete units — either as companies, battalions or brigades, and they do so with every soldier armed with his or her individual weapon. … Army units and individual replacements arrive in country fully capable to conduct combat operations.”

One interesting thing I've learned today from my friend: She didn't like Obama and still doesn't, but she would vote for him if she were given another chance. One of the reasons: if Obama gets to be the president, it would pave the way for other people of color to run for president in the future (so it would be easier for people to accept it). She was just convinced by her friend and said enough of white presidents, time to change the color to lift the spirit of minorities. She seems to have her point, and probably 30% of Chinese vote for him because of this very reason, but I have too many reasons to vote for Hillary at this point.

I find it funny that Clinton is saying she has this great health care plan. When her husband was in office, she tried to get one passed then too and FAILED MISERABLY. Although I'm sure none of the many intelligent posters on this thread are taking you seriously, I would just like to alert you to the facts behind Senator Obama's tremendous fundraising success. A cursory look at the Senator's website or any number of news stories will show you that the Obama campaign is closing in on a total of one million individual donors. Almost all of these donors are giving in the $25 to $100 range, which means that we (yes, I'm one!) can keep giving on a regular basis, because we are nowhere near the $2300 maximum. Unlike Senator Clinton's campaign, which targeted a smaller number of big money givers, Senator Obama has worked hard to build an enormous and nationwide organization of small givers who can give again and again. There is no need to construct entertaining but clearly false conspiracy theories to explain the facts: Obama inspires so many people that his ability to fundraise is something heretofore unimagined. :)

During the Feb 19th debates in Ohio Senator Obama who also serves as Chair of the subcommittee that has oversight over NATO admitted he has not held one single substantive hearing to figure out what the U.S can do to have a stronger presence with Nato in Afghanistan.

Obama admitted it was true stating it was because his responsibilities as chair started at the same time he began running for President.

So while hundreds of thousands of our young men and women are at great risk and being killed in Afghanistan he's too busy running for president to hold a single hearing- UNBELIEVABLE.

Even more unbelievable were the comments that followed the debate reflecting mostly on how cool, calm, collected and presidential he "LOOKED."

Obama’s admission should be a huge wake up call for Obama and the rest of the country that he is not only not ready to be president - he's not ready to be a senator either.

The day after Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee noted that Senator Clinton has introduced more legislation to address the problems facing wounded service members than any other Senator, including The Dignified Treatment of Wounded Warriors Act (accomplished while running her presidential race).
