Every time you call states that voted for Senator Obama "meaningless," demographic groups that voted for Senator Obama "fringe," and supporters of Senator Obama "delusional," it is YOU who demonstrate your striking disconnect with America. First, anyone that still thinks Bill Kristol has any kind of credibility is already a delusional authoritarian. No serious person believes what the man writes, because he clearly is making so much of it up. It would hurt an honest person to write the things he does.

Secondly, the "empty rhetoric" line has gotten old, hasn't it? Obama has given plenty of speeches with policy proposals (college tuition assistance, what he'll do with al-Qaeda, trade, etc.), yet we keep hearing the "empty rhetoric" refrain. Do any of these columnists listen to what Obama actually says, or has on his website? He's not devoid of policy proposals. Perhaps all these columnists just plagiarize off of Bill Kristol...?

One of the many reasons I find it hard to support Obama. He's a member of the Congress, hasn't he figured out that they have a say so too? What's he smoking?

He doesn't mention that when he finally went to a Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting he wrote his staff member a note saying "shoot me now".

He distanced himself from his family because they are Muslim. He distanced himself from his beloved "spiritual leader and mentor" because he is divisive and racist and an anti-semitic. He even distances himself from his own words written by him in books.

The Press are so afraid of being called racist if they ask a negative or controversial question of him. They have created a "Savior" the Obamessiah. They have created hype and hysteria and are loving it. What DID happen to journalistic integrity?

Has Obama really wooed the Republicans? I highly doubt it. They want him as nominee because of his past which they will exploit and because he has no experience. I am sooooooo tired of the past 7 years with a mean-spirited administration, and I don't want another one headed by Hillary. When the primary season began I knew I would vote for Obama. But I thought if Hillary ended up the nominee I would vote for her in the general election.

Hillary Clinton has been running for president since at least 1998, when her husband lied under oath about his relationship with an intern. Bill Clinton was impeached, not because of the relationship, but because he blatanty lied about it UNDER OATH! He is only the 2nd president in our country's history to do something disgracful and illegal enough to be impeached. At the time, I thought, "Why doesn't he resign?" Purgery, it would seem to me, is a serious crime that cuts at the very essence of the rule of law and the idea of justice, the foundation on which this country stands. How can a president get away with this? Well, he got away with it because the people let it slide. To them, it was not about purgery, it was about sex, which most people agree should be a private matter. Also, the Senate voted along party lines not to remove him from office. Bill Clinton and the Senate Democrats disgraced this nation by disregarding the rule of law and the Constitution. I thought, Bill Clinton could resign with less than 2 years remaining in his 2nd term, giving Al Gore the opportunity to go into the 2000 election as the incumbant with the possibility that he could serve another 2 full terms (maximum of 10 years). We all know how close that election was. So why didn't he resign for the good of the Democratic Party in America? In my opinion, he didn't resign because that would have hampered his wife's chances to run for president sometime in the future, maybe 2004 or 2008. This issue became a great opportunity for the popular first lady to gain an enourmous vote of sympathy, and, sure enough, she moved to NY and began her run for the white house. Am I the only one who saw this coming back then, and just how egomaniacal and deliberate this strategy was? People like to blame Ralph Nader or Catherine Harris or Jeb Bush or the FL state legislature or the US Supreme Court. But, in my view, if you want to blame the Bush presidency on anyone, blame it on the Clintion's.

Clinton supporters, in my opinion, tend to be a bit short-sighted. They assume, quite unreasonably, that this election will be exactly the same as the last 3 or 4 or 5 elections before it. They don't seem to remember Reagan winning tons of Democrats in '80 or '84--obviously a Democrat will always vote for a Democrat in November, and a Republican will always vote for a Republican. If Republicans are expressing interest in an Obama candidacy, it HAS to be all chicanery and scheming master plans to defeat the Democrats in the fall.

This blogger seems to have an affinity for history. Well, look at the two '80's elections I just mentioned--Reagan was about as far right as you could get and he managed to win in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Why? Communication skills and a transformational message. And experience? Well, look at 1860, if you really want to talk about history. Lincoln was the most inexperienced candidate ever elected to the Presidency, but he sure was better than the more experienced Douglas would have been, or frankly than the massively experienced President Buchanan was. I will pick a smart, reflective, honest candidate over a programmed, inauthentic, slightly more experienced one every time.

McCain used to be against tax cuts for the rich but now he's for them. He used to be for what the wingers call "amnesty" for illegal immigrants, but now he says he wouldn't vote for his _own_ immigration bill which he co-sponsored with Ted Kennedy to please the xenophobes. And worst of all, he used to be against torture before he was for it, as he demonstrated in voting to block the bill banning water boarding, which he himself called torture.

But the Washington Post sees fit to focus on the relatively modest changes in positions of the Democrats and ignore McCain's sudden conversion to the fascist agenda of the far right.

@mrunpc: What an amazingly intolerant and bigoted post. For one thing, Islam is a religion, not a race -- to suggest that Barack Obama is a Muslim simply because his father was is rather ignorant. Obama has been vetted pretty thoroughly on this, and the fact is that he is not Muslim.

EVEN IF HE WERE, I don't understand why it would matter? Are you suggesting that all Muslims are bloodthirsty loons bent on destroying the United States? If so, that couldn't be farther from the truth. The views undertaken by Islamic terrorists are no more Muslim than the views espoused by Rev. Fred Phelps and his church (those who picket at the funerals of our fallen soldiers with signs reading "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" and worse) are Christian. Terrorists are an extremist fringe of the religion, and calling Obama a terrorist is both ignorant and libelous.

You might also do well to beef up on your theological knowledge, during which you might be surprised to discover that -- although very noteworthy doctrinal differences abound -- Muslims and Christians (and Jews, for that matter) worship the same God...the God of Abraham. Muslims believe that their religion "builds upon" and supersedes the Christian and Jewish religions, and often their beliefs are in conflict with Christian beliefs, but to declare that the religions do not worship the same God is fundamentally incorrect.

Sorry, but his supporters ARE bubble heads. What he opines about in his speeches is NOT going to happen. HRC is right. Republicans are going to fight tooth and nail to prevent universal health care. They're going to fight tooth and nail to keep their tax cuts. They're going to fight tooth and nail to get their guy in the White House. BO is inspirational and he does make you feel good about yourself and good about the country. But this just isn't the time for that. We need someone with some real operating skill and experience in the White House. I think he's very sneaky as well. When HRC brings up any criticisms, she's "going negative, using the same ol' Washington politics". Anything she says or does he accuses her of "being emotional" (pretty sexist, btw) or "being tactical", as if nothing she does or feels is genuine, as if he's the only genuine one. I don't think you do what HRC has done with her life simply because you want to get elected. You have to be driven to serve. She could easily be the head of some huge corporation or law firm. On Hillary -- one of the lessons from Al Gore was that he had entirely too many handlers in charge of his campaign. I get the feeling Barack is more in charge of what happens with his campaign and his message. In Marketing, from letters to phone calls....sometimes LESS really is better.

Here is a wake up call to all the Democrats and Independants. Those in white America who support McCain and Clinton will not support Obama in the general election.
