Charlie Rangle got a $2 million dollar earmark so he could put his name on a building at NYU. How many African American Children will not have a college education thanks to Congressman Rangle?

I don't know why First Read hasn't posted the issue of the Clinton Campaign sending out a picture of Obama dressed in Kenyan garb during a 2006 trip there. Clinton's top cop, Maggie Williams said it shouldn't be divisive; but too many in America are fueled by fear of anything Muslim and they knew that this picture would be a rallying call for their delusions. First her campaign demanded the resignations of 2 staffers caught sending out the lies about him being a Muslim and now this. It is disgusting that they are using some American's ignorance against them.....first by egging on hate against anything Muslim and second because they KNOW that Obama isn't a Muslim yet continue to try to meld the two into peoples minds. If people fall for this nasty trick then shame on them for being so gullible. But even more important for a person who wants to be President of the United States to try to use fear and hate against her opponent is just pathetic. SHAME ON YOU HILLARY CLINTON and SHAME on any of you that fall for this mess. If you support her on issues fine, but to vote for her because she is using your fear against you......shame on you.

It was a figure of speech for saying we'll be there as long as we need to be because if we leave too hastily there will be cataclysmic results!

Whether it was right to invade Iraq is NOT the issue anymore. What to do now that we're up to our eyes balls in it is the issue now. The only problem, our eyes are COVERED so people aren't seeing that the 4k soldiers who have died so far will be nothing compared to the tens or hundreds of thousands who will die if we don't take the time to PLAN our withdrawal.

Believe it or not, democrats, Americans aren't the only humans who deserve human rights. You talk a big game about taking care of the human condition, but you're willing to jump out of the Middle East and watch a structure collapse that wasn't up to code in the first place.

And as for protecting America, since 2001, Americans have killed more Americans at home in terrorist attacks than Islamic extremists have.

Why? Because there haven't been any radical attacks from those extremists.

Why? Because as morbid as it might sound, as long as there are Marines and Soldiers in Iraq, al-Qaeda's not going to travel halfway around the world - they're going to look in their own backyard.

Bringing soldiers home does NOT make America safe. It allows extremists to REFOCUS ON THE AMERICAN NATION.

9/11 was NOT the first anti-American terrorist attack, so choose: American servicemen and servicewomen in Iraq or civilian targets here at home.

Choose. Because it's ONE OR THE OTHER. And no amount of soldiers at home is going to prevent a suicide bomber from walking in the front door of a school or mall, just as our home-grown shooters demonstrate.

It has been a huge surprise to me that the Republican candidates did not try to distance themselves from Bush's policies. They all seemed to commit to "staying the course" except for Ron Paul of course. The Repulicans are determined to stay on that bus going over the cliff and McCains seems to be the new bus driver. There seems to be a certain psychology among Republicans to never admit you are wrong, never admit a mistake, it is always someone else's fault. Someday someone will get a PhD studying this phenonmenon.

It is a good advertisement, especially since the usual Republican response is to compare a long-term American military commitment in Iraq to our commitment in Japan or Germany.

This comparison is ridiculous of course. I urge anyone who believes we could ever have troops stationed in Iraq like we do in Japan and Germany to check out the history of the British occupation in Iraq. The British troops were never safe or accepted. The problem is this folks -- the people of Iraq have been occupied before (by the Ottoman Turks, and the British to name two) and they didn't like it. Really, come to think of it, America didn't much like having the British troops occupying us either.

While many Iraqis will accept our help in stabilizing the situation we helped create, I don't think it is remotely possible that the Iraqis would accept long-term American bases in their country. I don't think it is wise for us to even express such an option. The Iraqis may not be able to unify to create a country, but they will have no problem unifying to kick us out if we start acting like permanent bases and permanent military occupation are our ultimate goals.

Again, I urge anyone who is curious about the past to check out what happened to the British occupation in Iraq-- not what is happening now, but what happened in the past.

One of the definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over again expecting a different result.

Do the people of MoveOn.org and the others listed recall that Obama has voted to fund the War ever since he joined the U.S. Senate. Obama said he didn't know how he would have voted while he was speaking for John Kerry and John Edwards at the national convention so he didn't make them look bad for their war vote...with that said we are supposed to believe him that with the evidence the senate received and the majority vote to go to war that Barack wouldn't have followed with a vote himself....Barack is running his campaign on the assumption he wouldn't have voted for the war if he was in the same position as the whole US Senate.

S.Ruff I don't think it is a problem. The American people are smart enough to differentiate Obama from muslims or Farrakan. And the press will make sure to ask him about it and he will clear the record. The difference between him and Kerry is that, Kerry would reject an accusation but always leave room for doubt or he would not do so strongly enough. Obama has already proven to be capable of clearing the record on more than one occassion, and he isn't affraid to do so publicly. It's a typical trick to take an unassociated person's comments and attatch it to a candidate but the benefit of that tactic is that it's easily disproven and can be turned to make the perpertrator of such rumors look petty.

On Iraq, you act like, "Oh, Bush did it. He can fix it." -- and you blame Republicans for not wanting to admit who's wrong?

Look at Bill Clinton's decision to not let America help Rwanda after we left Mogadishu in Somalia. Because they knew there would be no interference from peacekeepers, most notably American forces, they initiated a genocide. How many innocent people were killed for that, Nuanced? In case you don't have it off the top of your head:

800,000. Or More.

And anyone who supported that decision to stay out of it has that blood on their hands.

Nuanced, you want to show everyone how to take responsibility? Then vote for Obama. Get our troops out on day 1, and watch an enitre region explode with violence like we've never seen there. Then take responsibility for choosing to leave. Because far more will die than have died so far, and that'll be on you.
