This is a red herring by the campaign. If Senator Clinton wanted to do the job why did she not vote on the very important telecom Bill when she was in Washington DC a few weeks ago. This is the bill that was related to the wire tapping and not giving telecom compannies immunity for things they did that were illegal before the current bill passed. BOTH Senator Obama and McCain took the time to come and vote on this important legislation but Clinton had opther things to do.

You cannot tell me that something did or did not happen because there were no hearings as we have seen in recent weeks with the baseball steroid hearings just because you have hearings doesnt mean they are important or get anything done.

In addition, Senator Clinton says she is too busy to release her tax returns so please do not use the fact that Seantor is too busy running for president as a political line.

I am so disgusted with how we Americans go about electing our leaders. You read most of the posts here and you’d think that somehow, all of us were marched into a brainwashing chamber to suck out all of our thoughts. Clinton supporters absolutely refuse to fathom anybody else but her in the presidency. Nobody uses sentences like “I like her ideas better”. We resort to infantile nonsense like “Obama is an idiot; he is a Muslim trying to destroy America”. Come on people, with all these energy crawling out of our poop holes, we can use some of it to do some analysis of these candidates such as ask the question… What is in it for Hillary Rodham Clinton? Does she love us so much that she wants to become president just so we will live a very happy and exciting life filled with fortunes and healthy outcome? Try to ponder what it would be like if you were the person running for president. Do you honestly think that you will not utilize that position to feel powerful and influential? Don’t worry I am getting to Obama but lets deal with Clinton first. The way I look at it and this is my opinion of which I do not want to impose on others is that I see the Clintons as having been successful in their political careers. They managed to raise a wonderful girl who turned out from an awkward looking kid in 1992 to now a confident young woman making a six figure salary at a hedge company in NY. The Clintons went from a political star truck family to ascend to the presidency of the United States, now that is quite an accomplishment, so to me anything more is just plain greed. For recap, Bill Clinton became president, Hillary went on to become a senator and their only offspring went to ivy league school here and abroad and from every evidence will certainly have a good life from the values bestowed on her from her parents. In 1992, the Clintons were closer in image and desire to the average American family than they are now. I believe that desire was what propelled them to the success we experienced in the 90s. Unfortunately, they have now surpassed what we truly need in this country at this time. That brings me to Obama because I truly think that for all his rhetoric and hope speeches and all, he fits closer in image and desire to the average American family than any other candidate. I also ask the question…Why is he running? What is in it for him? Does he want to become president just so that we live a very happy and exciting life filled with fortunes and good health? He does not have the success story as the Clintons yet but he wants to also become a good American story. The Obamas have 2 adolescent kids who are not even in High School yet so I believe they want to see their daughters also go off to Ivy League schools and end up just as Chelsea making six figure salaries at a very reputable company. Who knows maybe Michelle may want to become a senator too. My point is where do we they voters fall into all of this? We need to evaluate with clarity what better choice is available to us. We need to make that choice with confidence because we used our brains. After thinking it through, I pick Obama because I like his ideas better and I think he will strive to create an America that will enable his young children to become successful. In all my analysis, I never looked at gender or race or experience or influence and endorsements. I never relied on the media to spin anything for me and I never went with the bandwagon of the day. I just intelligently looked at my choices and made what I think will benefit this country. Once again good luck in your thoughts.

What a joke, I wonder what Clinton has done since the election started? I do know she has voted only 25% of the time in the senate since announcing she was running for the Senate.

Also, People have argued that Obama won open primaries because Republican's voted for him that won't vote for him in the general election. Now answer me this; if Republican's hate Sen. Clinton so much that they would vote for Obama rather than vote for their own candidate, then do you really think she had a chance in the gen. election? In fact it actually showed how poorly Democrats would have done if she did win. In fact, I have seen the Republican Governors of Alaska & Louisiana point to Obama as a symbol of change, which shows he has crossover appeal. Furthermore, this argument is erroneous since Sen. Clinton's fall from grace started on Super Tuesday, before the Republican nominee was essentially decided. I would argue the fact that she had trouble in most closed primaries shows her lack of broad appeal. Her problem was she believed that American's might look past gender, but they would not look past race. She took solace in the fact that there was only one black Senator, but numerous female Senators and so she ignored Obama. Furthermore she took the gamble that appealing only to women with the belief this would win her the nomination. This might have actually worked if Sen. Edwards hadn't left early. As for Obama, she ignored him and tried to use the experience argument instead of spending the time to define him; which allowed him to define himself. And say what you will, but this Edwards supporter saw Obama speak for the first time and knew he had 'something'. It might show her lack of judgment that she couldn't see this herself earlier. That said Sen. Clinton is a wonderful woman who will be a great asset to the democratic party in the Senate.

During Senator Obama's first 8 eight months of elected service he sponsored over 820 bills.

He introduced 233 bills regarding healthcare reform,
125 bills on poverty and public assistance,
112 bills on crime fighting,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.
In his first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included:

I really don't think the Clinton campaign gets it. We really don't care about the small beans. We want to hear the words "unite", and a promise to try to end partisan politics, and gridlock.

Yes, we ALLLL know she has more marbles, ribbons, and checkmarks in her policy points, but those are easily accumulated over time. Given more time, Obama would surely have plenty of these things too.

No matter how many marbles she has saved, she can't unite anyone but hard-core democrats. This isn't leadership. She can't unite the country as well as Obama has demonstrated.

This is almost laughable, given that Senator Clinton missed 3 key votes for her own committees because of campaigning. As with the plagiarism comment, they are hoping that people won't discover that she has done the same. Stay informed Obama supporters and don't believe everything you read about him. Also, as you keep in mind the issue of character, which is very important to me. Notice who is hurling most of the insults and who is doing most of the reacting.

I feel for them because I believe they are political junkies. I think they care about people, but mostly, they care about being in charge. I hate to say that, because I do think they are true public servants, but that's just what I have observered. I sure hope I'm wrong. The Clintons will be around for a long time and I'm sure they will do a lot of good. Whether you support Obama or not, you can't help but feel bad for them. Having said that, I agree that the country needs to go in a new direction, and the Clintons are not the ones to get us there. Thanks for the 90's Bill. They weren't all good, but not all bad. Such is life. I hope Obama's vision takes us another step forward. Nobody sees Obama as the savior of the world. Just an agent of change, which will hopefully allow us to make progress as a nation. We need this to improve our foreign relations as well our domestic ones.

I was also shocked to learn that Barack Obama's
mentor and pastor, Dr. Jeremiah Wright Jr., awarded
Louis Farrakhan with a Trinity chuirch award. On the church's website, www.tucc.org/about.htm, it sounds as if it is exclusively for african-americans. I have never heard of a church that only allowed one race.
Richard Cohen of the Washington post wrote a very interesting article last month called "Obama's Farrakhan Test." I know there is a difference between pride and prejudice. Being associated with louis Farrakhan sounds more like the later.

As someone who worked on the Hill for a number of years, I can say with some authority that the import of Senate Subcom oversight hearings is vastly overstated in this memo. Some Senators love to have them, some don't, and it is usually shaped by how active the Committee is. Given that the Foreign Relations Committee is chaired by Biden and has lots of hearing, I'd be surprised if many of the the Subcoms had hearings this year.

How was that not "game changing"????? How is it we now hear he won because he wasn't knocked out?? If Tim had directed the question to Obama, he would have embarassed himself in front of millions.
