We know what he means. If he wasn't running against Bill's wife, I think he would be building off of one of the best presidents ever. Instead he is dragging Bill through the mud, just like the Republicans did, just like the Republicans will try to do to every Democratic president elected subsequently. That's what they do- whatever it takes to get control. Too bad Obama is doing the same thing. Self righteous Obama is really the same old politics he denounces. Take off the Obama goggles people, we all knew Bill was good before this race. Has some new light been shed on his attrocious presidency? I don't get it. I still feel the same about Bill; he kicked ass- and another Democrat beating him down really pisses me off.

Is Bill exaggerating?

Bill who? Why is the standard being dropped so low for one of the most important jobs on the planet? Why is it okay to disregard a qualified woman and choose an unqualified man? Is it just because Obama is a man? I do not think that there would even be a contest if he were a black female and Hillary were a white male. A black female candidate with little or no experience would have been ridiculed to no end by now, for the mere thought of running against a more experienced white male. Does the river of sexism run deeper in American hearts than the river of racism? The person that is qualified for the job should be the person that is hired to do the job. No one should be passed over because of gender or race. Hillary should clearly be President for the next 8 years and Obama's presidency should come after hers. This way we would have 16 years of good Democratic government.

Is Bill exaggerating?

Obama was never criticizing the presidency of Bill Clinton, nor the results of certain parts of his policies. The problem Obama was referring to was the continuing polarization of the political parties and the contentious nature of Congress following 1996 especially. Bill Clinton, God bless his once decent name, is increasingly alienating the people that would have otherwise overlooked his shortfalls and thought him to be a good, clean politician.

Is Bill exaggerating?

If Obama is as ineffectual as a President as he is as a motivational preacher, than God help us all.

Obama has failed to reach his followers. He has been claiming to not to be using old Washington's tactics of slash and burn, tearing down people. His words are to paint himself as above it all....a see my halo attitude. YET ALL OF HIS SUPPORTERS ON THESE COMMENT PAGES ARE FULL OF HATRED, DISCUSTING, VENDICTIVE, UNEDUCATED, INAPPROPRIATE AND ALL THE OTHER ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT VERY DECENT IN THEIR TREATMENT OF OTHER HUMANS ON THIS EARTH. DO YOU PEOPLE SEE HOW THAT REFLECTS ON YOUR OBAMA....WHAT KIND OF A MOVEMENT ARE YOU SEEKING.
HE DOESN'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE OLD WASHINGTON POLITICS, JUST THE OLD WASHINGTON POLITICIANS TO ENDORSE HIM. A POLITICIAN IS A POLITICIAN IS A POLITICIAN.

WHY CAN'T YOU COMMENT ON ISSUES LIKE THE FACT THAT HE JUST ANSWERED TO AN ATTACK BY JOHN MCCAIN ABOUT GOING AFTER AL QAEDA IN AFGHINSTAN. Why not? FOX is bringing up negatives
now, and the other networks will have to address them. No more pass for Obama.

Is Bill exaggerating?

I don't know about everyone else, but I'll be glad when the primaries are over. No matter who you support, Obama or Clinton, it's not difficult to see that these back and forth jabs (and worse) are hurting the Democratic party. After all the unhappiness people have had with the government because of what has happened over the last seven years, the Democrats should have had an easy ride in the November election. That may not happen thanks to all these attacks - attacks that aren't really helping either candidate. They *are* certainly providing a lot of fodder for the GOP, leaving them in a position where they won't have to attack the Dem. candidate. They can simply sound bite or quote so many of the negative things said by the Dem. candidate campaigns without having to get their own hands dirty. It's a pity that the campaigns can't just stick to the issues.

Is Bill exaggerating?

Senator Obama wants to change the way Washington works. It is unfortunate that former President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton don't get it. I keep hoping they will see it, but this hope is apparently misplaced. So long as Senator Obama stays above the fray of mud-slinging, and only engages in advancing the causes he advocates on the campaign trail while seeking a mandate from us, the American People, we will stand with him as President and help him to achieve our goals. This is simple people. Together we can do. Divided we can only fight.

Yes we can! Obama '08.

Is Bill exaggerating?

Sounds to me like Bill is more interested in
defending his presidency than campaigning for
Hillary!!

Is Bill exaggerating?

Here's some info for you. Instead of criticizing Obama for his lack of experience and his "elegant but empty" rhetoric (their begrudging description) she ought to give him credit for restoring optimism and vitality and the vocabulary of hope back into American politics. And then she and her team should embrace the appetite for change in America with a vengeance and make the indisputable link between change and competence and experience. Any student of history and human affairs understands that talking about change is the easiest part of a change endeavor. Change - real, meaningful, socially impactful change - only comes through roll-up-your-sleeves hard work, long days at the side of a cadre of competent committed colleagues and, in almost every instance, huge sacrifices. In the end, in those rare instances when promises of change and hope can be delivered on, it has demanded extreme competence; steadfast execution; and thoughtful, intelligent, competent management over an always-longer-than-expected period of time. The list of people who've accomplished such change is telling enough, as far as the competence and commitment and cost that is required. Mandela. Rabin. Lennon. Sakharov. King. Gorbachev. Gandhi. Kennedy. And many others whose names we all recognize. Yes, talking about change and envisioning change is essential. It might even be the most important thing on Day 1. But starting on Day 2, and most definitely on Day 307, it'll be competence and know-how that'll matter that much more.
Is Bill exaggerating?

President Clinton has definitely exaggerated regularly... nothing new there. It won't go on much longer.

Obama/Edwards '08

Is Bill exaggerating?

Bill sure had a good time. I would bet he would pay some of his kazakh millions to have it that way again! It's kind of like how people used to say the sixties are over. The 90s are over also.

Is Bill exaggerating?

Poor Bill. His ego is so huge, he just can't see around himself during this primary. He's on the defense for every little thing Obama says. Bill, the country did enjoy some of the best of times economically when you were president, and I think anyone would be unhonest if they denied that. However, you mustn't forget that you were impeached during this time (the '90s), and Congress was up in arms about your moral behavior. Could it perhaps be that is what Se. One of the reasons things have been hard during the Bush years is that Clinton ignored national security and allowed Al Queda to grown unchecked. You made some
> comments on last evening's show that struck home. One
> was particularly frightening. You have said basically
> that Obama was a guy that nobody seems to know
> anything about. The idea that this country could
> elect a man as president and not know anything about
> his beliefs, his agenda, his values or his religion is
> unimaginable. This concerned me greatly and I did
> some research of my own on Mr. Obama. I found that he
> is not the Mr. Clean that he appears to be on the
> outside. I went to the web-site for his church which
> is Trinity United Church of Christ in south Chicago.
> The web-site is TUCC.org. Here is what I learned:
>
> 1. On the opening page they have listed a 10 point
> vision. One of the 10 points says that they are 'A < /FONT>
> congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO
> AFRICA' Maybe thats why he will not put his hand
> over his heart during the national anthem. It would
> be against his commitment to Africa and he would have
> to explain his actions to his fellow church members if
> he did. I personally want a president who is
> committed to all Americans and not to another country
> or people.
>
> 2. The church is located on the south side of
> Chicago. Louis Farrakan lives in the same basic
> neighborhood.
>
> 3. On the open ing page of the web-site, there is a
> side menu that has an item called 'TRUMPET MAGAZINE'.
> I opened Trumpet magazine to see what it was about and
> low and behold there was this picture of Louis Farrakan
> himself. As a matter of fact, the picture filled my
> whole computer screen. I almost hurled.
>
> 4. The magazine spoke about what an honorable and
> great man minister Farrakan is and how he is cut from
> the same cloth as the Malcom Xs and Elijah Mohammeds
> of this world.
>
> 5. As you know, Louis Farrakan is one of the biggest
> hate mongers of all time. Its no secret that he hates
> whites and the Jewish people with an unholy passion.
> He is the leader of the NATION OF ISLAM which are
> nothing more than a band of black militant muslims
> hellbent on the destruction of whites and jews.
> Farrakan was once referred to as the 'Black Hitler'
> ; when he was censored by the world for his viewpoints.
>
> 6. Why would a church that calls itself a church of
> Christ align itself with such an ungodly individual,
> and especially a person who is undoubtedly of the
> muslim faith. Trumpet magazine sings praises of
> Farrakan 's accomplishments and talks about him like a
> God.
>
> Personally, I don't think Obama wants anyone to know
> about his past because of his connection to Farrakan
> and the Islamic faith. I think that the guy is
> really deep down inside a muslim and that the Nation
> of Islam is trying to slide him into the Oval Office
> under the guise of a Christian and the so-called
> Church of Christ that he is a member of is the perfect
> cover up (The Trojan Horse).

Is Bill exaggerating?

Don't worry Bill... we remember your Presidental term very well.. that's why your wife is losing....

American have GREAT long and short term memory

Is Bill exaggerating?

Certainly Clinton has a right to defend the policies and accomplishments of his Presidency. Each one promised the world; however, not one was able to reorganize healthcare, FIX Social Security (your money that you will not receive if born after 1981 and rising), get parents to be more involved with their children at school and take an active roll in their education as opposed to parents being involved with drugs, alcohol, etc., eliminate all radical (Islam) extremist before they strike at the heart of America again, stop executives from embezzling corporation money, help to reduce poverty, - do I need to go on or have you had enough - which one would you choose OH, I AM TRULY SORRY I FORGOT TO INCLUDE A TAX CUT WITH THIS LIST. This is definitely a relative consideration much higher than social security, healthcare and poverty - please forgive me!

For those of you out there that are slightly slow in mind let me tell you so it will not be a big secret I was being sarcastic - shocking isn't it! The real shock is that YOU, YOU, and YOU keep believing this Donkey and Elephant dung. When are you actually going to wake up and not just smell the coffee but take an active roll in making this country a better place to live or would you rather put your faith, hopes and dreams in a person that has come up with a new way to smoke a cigar or should I say USE A CIGAR! The latter is easy, you just go to the ballot box darken in the circle and or let's not forget the almighty GORE PUNCH CARD! If your party and or president of choice does not perform like you want him or her to then again it appears to be real easy people just BASH THEM (TALK TRASH), CALL THEM NAMES, and LIE BY TELLING EVERYONE that they didn't vote for them! BUT WE REALLY NEED TO ASK HOLLYWOOD, BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM AND INTEGRITY TO DECIDE WHO IS POPULAR AND WHO'S NOT! Hooray, after four more years the American people will have the opportunity to bash (talk trash) another one when they get to be unpopular, of course they did not vote for. I really truly think that they need to make this a holiday OH; I AM TRULY SORRY THEY ALREADY HAVE IT IS CALLED THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. Don't worry you will have the opportunity to talk poorly about another president when they do not live up to YOUR expectations. Isn't this so much fun!!!

If I may I would like to ask YOU another curious intelligent question so that I may receive a definite flawless and completely correct answer, "What makes you so sure that Barack, and or any of these candidates, will follow through with all HIS promises? Because HE IS BARACK OBAMA he is going to follow through and save the American people! Because you see him on TV and commercials - surely that must be it! Because he says so? He has stated all his promises in public just like all republicans, democrats, federalists before him going back all the way to John Adams but they didn't complete all their promises - not even 25%! The same goes for Hilary, John and Mike!

PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION, I will reform healthcare, fix social security, and reorganize the education system - DON'T LET ME LOSE YOU, PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION - because I stated all this to the public then I will follow through with my campaign promises and save the world!

HEAR YE, HEAR YE, American people foreign and or domestic, all your cares and concerns are put to rest just vote for me and bliss, complete comfort, heaven and or world without incident, pain or death will be realized; basically, my job as president is easy all I have to do is snap my fingers and instantly without help it appears like magic before your very eyes without the need for committees, teams, and especially without the American People's input. Is this getting to be absurd?

STOP, STOP, I repeat STOP believing and or depending upon someone else to make your life easier! GET INVOLVED, reach out to people, help the poor, start working on solutions to these big problems we face, work on real problems social security, healthcare and education submit your ideas to your local congressman and or senator -your ideas are just as important if not more than the attorney's, governor’s, senator's and especially the president (he or she is a servant of the American people) take a stand on what really counts and stop complaining about the small stuff! If your local congressman and or senator ignores you find someone who will listen to you - it doesn't matter if they are democrat or republican - who cares, just find someone or a group of people that will take the ball and run it in for a touchdown!!! Remember, vote actions not words, anyone can get up and say they can do a good job - even me!

I encourage you to PRAY that GOD will help us with these problems and put the right man or woman in office that will work to find solutions not massage their popularity!!! GOD PLEASE HELP AND BLESS THIS NATION!

GOD BLESS
Is Bill exaggerating?

How about these mistakes Billary Clinton (co-Presidents)?:
1). Hollllllllllly give up already. All the "fights" back then were started by the Republicans, who never wanted and still don't want Universal Health Care and want tax cuts for the richest 1%(including media bosses). Bush's lie cost 100,000 lives across the world and billions of dollars to the US, compare that to Bill's lie, now who should have been impeached??I remeber the 90's and the 80's as well and we all know whats been going on for the last 8 years. The period between 94 and 2000 was probably the most prosperous and peaceful time in US history after the post war boom in the 50's.

Now, Obama is not running against Bill. He blames everything bad in the 90's on Hillary, while discredits anything good from Bill's presidency. Seriously, stating that Reagan's admin was better than Clinton's is absurd. Reagan ignored the AIDS crisis and let it spread, even blaming it on homosexuals. He certainly didn't preside over the best peroid in American economy either, competition from Asian nations especially Japan made our manufacturing meaningless, while Reagan was saying that the market will take care of itself. I'm sure Obama shares his view that its not a good time to discuss policy during elections. Just a few good speeches written by your speechwriters and a few photo-ops, play the victim and you're all set. The fights will still be there when Obama is elected, there is no utopia in politics. Once the election is over it will be politics as usual. Even Hillary has co-sponsored bills with republicans, but some day you have to stand up and fight for what is right both inside the government and out, that is what MLK and Lyndon Johnson did, because of them Obama has this chance today(also, times have changed and US demogarphics too). Parties are based on ideology that is why they oppose each other. Republicans and their hacks like Limbaugh and Ann coulter are more vicious thats all. Wait until they come after you Obama. Right now it seems that Obama can do or say anything to win.

Is Bill exaggerating?

Uh Kenn, you might want to wake up a bit. What Obama said was that he never agreed with the ideas and policies of Reagan, but that he noticed that Reagan definitely tapped into something that got him elected and energized a large portion of the electorate. That included the whole Reagan democrats movement. He obviously worked in the community and took a path that was in direct opposition to Reagan policies. This country again is ready for a new trajectory and at least Obama has better ideas for the PEOPLE to go with THAT ability to tap into the desire for change So, why don't you stop your shortcuts to thinking. Here's what he said:
Obama said, “I think Ronald Reagan changed the trajectory of America in a way that Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not. He put us on a fundamentally different path because the country was ready for it.

“I think they felt like with all the excesses of the 1960s and 1970s and government had grown and grown but there wasn't much sense of accountability in terms of how it was operating. I think people, he just tapped into what people were already feeling, which was we want clarity, we want optimism, we want a return to that sense of dynamism and entrepreneurship that had been missing.”
Is Bill exaggerating?

If Bill had an affair with a woman it is none of anyones business. That's between Bill and Hillary. Stay out of other peoples bedroom and instead fix what is happening in your own. In the 90's everyone ate with golden spoons, people could fill their gas tanks and we had a surplus when Bill left. Bush has lied and continues to lie to everyone and as a result of his indiscretions over 3900 soldiers have died and over 20000 people are wounded so far. When in our history has an ex-president repeatedly attacked a candidate from his own party? I understand that people may have issue with Obama and may disagree with him. Yet, why deny that he's changed the game and hasn't even won the primary?

Countries across the globe are talking about and taking interest in our PRIMARIES, that is amazing. Before his presidency, George Bush Sr. happened to be a World War II veteran, who flew into combat. He was the Vice President of the United States in the administration of Ronald Reagan (1980 -1988). He has also served as the member of the United States House of Representatives for the 7th district of Texas (1967–1971), the United States Ambassador to the United Nations (1971–1973), Chairman of the Republican National Committee (1973–1974), Chief of the United States Liaison Office in the People’s Republic of China (1974–1976), and Director of Central Intelligence (1976–1977).

Added to that, Bush Sr had just participated in a somewhat successful bombing campaign--he had a true coalition of the willing-- against Sadam in Iraq. Bill Clinton had no foreign policy experience, he ended up beating Bush Sr.

Fast forward
The coalition of the willing that helped George Bush(the lesser-current White House occupant) has shrunk down to maybe Costa Rica(snark). Spain/Italy/Poland/Australia/ even Great Britain have peeled away from Iraq.
We have John McCain sounding like the former Australian Prime Minister John Howard--right before he was booted out of office by the people who backed his opponent Kevin Rudd.
As a matter of fact, before being trounced by the voters, Howard did attack Barack Obama in a similar way. Howard basically parroted the McCain/neocon tired arguments. Here is a video of Kevin Rudd defending Barack. This video was prior to Rudd's victory over Howard---Kevin Rudd attacks Aussie Prime Minister John Howard
----Kevin Rudd attacks Aussie Prime Minister John Howard
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e7bhsziwJ4

Fast forward to 2007 Aussie election:
--excerpts:
Conservative Prime Minister John Howard suffered a humiliating defeat Saturday at the hands of the left-leaning opposition, whose leader has promised to immediately sign the Kyoto Protocol on global warming and withdraw Australia's combat troops from Iraq.
Labor Party head Kevin Rudd's pledges on global warming and Iraq move Australia sharply away from policies that had made Howard one of President Bush's staunchest allies.
-
It was an embarrassing end to the career of Howard, Australia's second-longest serving leader.
-
Howard took full blame for the drubbing handed to his center-right coalition.
-
"Today Australia has looked to the future," Rudd said in a nationally televised victory speech, to wild cheers from supporters. "Today the Australian people have decided that we as a nation will move forward ... to embrace the future, together to write a new page in our nation's history."
-
The change from Howard to Rudd also marks a generational shift for Australia.
-
Howard campaigned on his economic management, arguing that his government was mostly responsible for 17 years of unbroken growth, fueled by China's and India's hunger for Australia's coal and other minerals, and that Rudd could not be trusted to maintain prosperous times.
-
These excerpts from an article By ROHAN SULLIVAN, AP shows that embracing the future and moving this country forward is our best hope. The video (above) showed why Dems should not let neocon-followers get away with the 'soft on terror' BS that they(neocon candidates) seem to push at every election cycle. Rudd sums up why the Dems need to push back, and why he ended up beating Pres Bush's pal(Howard) last year.

John McCain is our 'Howard' in a way. McCain offers more of George Bush---maybe the 3.0 version(Bomb Iran--stay in Iraq 100 years). When(not if) Mc/Bush bombs Iran, Al Qaida will go there---when he bombs Syria, they will go there--when he bombs(pick your target), they will be there too. ----
john.he.is ----http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gwqEneBKUs&feature=related

John McCain's Lobbyist Friends (59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gEROVh8zK4

Yes, Barack Obama did spell out exactly what we are seeing now, in his 2002 speech opposing the Iraqi misadventure. His judgment about the region was on target.

The part of this article...Goodbye to All That: Why Obama Matters-----http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200712/obama
that discusses his personal uniqueness will, IMO, enhance our foreign policy. The picture of him wearing a nomad farmer's garb//his middle name(common in Africa and middle East)//his family ties to Kenya//his likability/etc.
Barack says we don't need more heat in Washington--we need more light. Well, I would apply some of that to our world affairs, as well. Scott Gration, who accompanied Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) on his trip to Kenya in 2006, on Monday defended Obama’s trying on local garb over his clothes during a visit to the rural Wajir region in the country, a picture of which is at the top right now of the Drudge Report.

Obama was merely being a “great guest,” Gration said.

The main story on the Drudge Report on Monday shows Obama fitted as a "Somali Elder” and Drudge’s story said “Clinton staffers” –who were not named--were circulating the picture.

The Obama campaign said release of this photo was “fear mongering” and “ divisive.” The Clinton campaign said the senator has been widely photographed wearing traditional dress, suggesting that there was nothing to raise a fuss about.

Gration was with Obama on every leg of the African visit, including Wajir, an area that often does not get the attention of foreign visitors. Obama, whose father was Kenyan, was treated as a head-of-state during the visit, part of a multi-nation trip of which Kenya was the highlight. Obama, his wife Michelle, their two daughters and friends accompanied them on the Kenya leg of the trip.

Gration is a Swahili-speaking retired Air Force major general, a native of St. Charles, Ill., who spent much of his youth in Africa. I asked him about the circumstances surrounding the photo during a conference call the Obama campaign organized as a prebuttal to a major foreign policy speech Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) will deliver today in Washington. The just completed call featured Obama foreign policy advisors Susan Rice, Gration and former Navy Secretary Richard Danzig.

“I was along on that picture,” Gration said. They were seeing a “community mobilization” in Wajir and witnessed the “live auction” of camels and other livestock..

During the course of this, Obama was given an outfit, and “as a great guest,” he tried it on, much in the way, Gration said, people “try on Christmas gifts” they may not want to keep.

Obama did “what any leader should do…accept the gift, accept the hospitality,” said Gration. Obama was “accepting a gift of friendship in a way we expect,” he said.

Rice, who served as an African expert in President Clinton’s White House, said release of the photo was designed “to be divisive.’’ But she also noted that President Clinton had himself dressed in kinte cloth as part of respecting local customs and cultures.

-----------
Major General Jonathan Scott Gration
http://www.eucom.mil/english/CommandStaff/gration.htm

Is Bill exaggerating?

The meaning of Obama's robes
A photo of US presidential candidate Barack Obama wearing Somali clothing is causing a storm after it got released to the Drudge Report website.
Yusuf Garaad Omar, head of the BBC's Somali Service, explains the meaning of the robes.

These are the normal clothes that nomadic people wear.

The head turban is especially used by elderly people as a suggestion of respect. It is something that has no meaning whatsoever in Somalia culture.

If you see someone dressed like that in Somalia, you think it is a nomadic person - that is all.

There is no religious significance to it whatsoever. It is mainly the nomadic people who use it. Some of them are religious, some are not.

It is simply a tradition of the place where they are from.

In this particular place, Wajir in north-east Kenya, the community is majority ethnic Somali.

They have a council for Peace and Development, and when they get delegates they dress them as a nomadic person.

I have been trying to track down the old man in the photo with Mr Obama, and I have been told he is Mohammed Hassan, the chair of the council itself. But he is not in town today, and we could not get hold of him.

This debate reminds me of people back home in Somalia, who say that women should not wear trousers, or other cultures who say men should not wear a tie. I just don't think it makes sense.

http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/mpapps/pagetools/print/news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7265115.stm
Is Bill exaggerating?

------------------
Picture of Bill Clinton with headgear
http://aycu07.webshots.com/image/47166/2006321771235899370_rs.jpg
-------------
When in Texas
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/photos/uncategorized/obama_3.jpg

--------
No Clue about this one
http://www.freakingnews.com/Barack-Obama-Pics-31141.asp
-------
Barack(in Hawaiian gear) and his sister Maya
http://www.hawaiiforobama.org/images/IMG_0245_f.jpg
Is Bill exaggerating?

Bill,

Just leave- Quit insulting our intelligence- go back to your hotel room and order some room service (Billary's donors are paying for that, right?) - I hear Monica is in the room next door.

Is Bill exaggerating?

FAITH
Chapter 6 of 'The Audacity of Hope

Obama speaks at Harvest Cathedral, Macon GA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myQx7JKM0ns&eurl=http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/samgrahamfelsen/CGj73

June of 2006---http://www.barackobama.com/issues/faith/
-
Barack Obama discusses what he prays for daily and why the Golden Rule applies on the campaign trail--http://www.beliefnet.com/story/228/story_22894_1.html.
--
Obama on CBN
http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/308216.aspx
--
Fact Check: Reverend Otis Moss on Obama's Faith
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY6qjeJ5mG8&eurl=http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/hqblog

---------------
Rabbi Sam Gordon Defends Barack Obama Against Smear Emails
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRZLgqGcIz8&eurl=http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/hqblog
-----------------
ADL Welcomes Obama's Statement Denouncing the Anti-Semitism Of Louis Farrakhan

New York, NY, January 15, 2008 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today welcomed Barack Obama's statement strongly condemning the anti-Semitism of Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan. The Senator's statement came in response to reports that his minister, Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., leader of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, had honored Farrakhan as one who "truly epitomized greatness."

Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, issued the following statement:

We welcome Barack Obama's condemnation of the anti-Semitic rhetoric of Minister Louis Farrakhan, and his making clear that he did not agree with his church's decision to honor Farrakhan with the Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award.

Issues of racism and anti-Semitism must be beyond the bounds of politics. When someone close to a political figure shows sympathy and support for an individual who makes his name espousing bigotry, that political figure needs to distance himself from that decision. Senator Obama has done just that.

For nearly 30 years as the leader of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan has repeatedly made hateful statements targeting Jews, whites and homosexuals. Farrakhan's bigoted and anti-Semitic rhetoric has included statements calling whites "blue eyed devils" and Jews "bloodsuckers" that controlled the slave trade, the government, the media and various Black individuals and organizations.

http://www.adl.org/PresRele/NatIsl_81/5208_81.htm

-------------
KNOW THE FACTS
http://factcheck.barackobama.com/
Is Bill exaggerating?

J. Next in line is Maggie Willaims. Also remember what Hillary said after defeat in every state. She suggested those people are not important for her campaign. Hillary says she is vetted but nobody saw her tax returns until now. When all goes well for them, they're positively beatific. When foul winds prevail, they're not only in the fray, they ARE it. By contrast, Hillary's emotions are genuine. They're driven by her passion to serve. They are what they are and they aren't unreasonable.

It's only a matter of time before Barack's passive-aggressiveness manifests itself fully in ways similar to Bill's. The reason that Bill's negatives didn't end his career is that he delivered. Will Barack do the same? Wondering does nothing to boost my morale.

Tangibles give me hope.

That's why I support Hillary. Not Bill and Hillary. Just Hillary. Were she president at this particular turning point in history, I'd be able to sleep at night.

That Barack could organize a successful grassroots movement is laudable, but it doesn't qualify him for the job in and of itself. Every campaign I ever undertook as a community activist was successful. I've been profiled on top of the fold of more than one newspaper. Make me president!

It would be only slightly more absurd to do so.

I understand that in supporting someone who has no substantive history in govt, people feel liberated, and thus hopeful. (Especially if they eschew close scrutiny of the facts.) But it won't be enough to repair the damage done by junior Bush. That's why the ticket should've been Clinton/Obama, as suggested by many, affording us 16 years of progressive democratic rule.(The reverse will afford us only 12 or maybe just 4.)

All the big Teflon personalities we've witnessed in our midst have always exhibited the downside of their star qualities. And without a solid body of work and experience to supplant their personal appeal, all we'll be left with is buyer's remorse.

I spent a happy chunk of years living in the Big Bend Region of Texas, and briefly in Austin, and it hurts to know that such a maverick people are about to be duped. (Except for Kinky Friedman, who appears to have his eyes wide open.) Voting for Barack on the Left is as foolish as voting for junior Bush on the right.

But back to Bill, who is the subject of the blog: I believe he has subconsciously sabotaged Hillary at every turn. He can't help it. He hasn't gained control of his ego. He should have been kept behind the scenes.

And as to the Bill-Barack similarity, we have yet to see how Barack's ego will do him--and us--in. And to my way of thinking, which usually pushes far past the surface, if Obama were a true agent of change, he'd have run independent of any party affiliation whatsoever. He's manipulating the machine as much as any other party member. How is that different?

Alas, I'm 52, and I doubt I'll ever see a woman president if Hillary doesn't make it or isn't offered the VP spot. And after Obama, I wonder if I'll ever see another black president before I die.
