Or, it (the ad) will promise J. Merle Stanley from NY to become his running mate if elected.
All kidding, First Read. It isthe longest ad buy I have heard of, if anything. I wonder if he is making lots of bucks by the hour. All he needs to do in OH and TX is to stay close to remain a frontrunner, while Hillary must win both states.
I feel sorry for Hillary, but she has been a very divisive candidate. Writting off a whole bunch of red states Obama won and lumping together his supporters into a single stereotype. That is what a polarizing leader does, one who creates ever greater division in our nation and the world. And a candidate who portrays herself or himself as a 'fighter' shows us that she or he will do the job of the presidency by fighting arrogantly like Bush, not rallying support and reaching out to all Americans and creating consensus, because America is not all Democratic or all Republicans; this is a country with so much diversity that even a fighter cannot control.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Hey Charlie,

Quit your croaking!

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Hooray! They and we want a leader, not an administrator.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Remember Hitler one the Popular Vote and the rest is Hitory lets not repeat this with Obama

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

"Dee Dee Myers makes the most important point of all about Obama vs. Hillary: If a woman had the same amount of experience as Obama, she wouldn't even have been able to enter the primary race."

Well, that's a blanket statement if I've ever heard one. I would venture to say that most men (let alone black men) with Senator Obama's experience would not be able to mount a primary campaign. The fact of the matter is Barack Obama is a bit of an exception to the usual rules. Calling sexism here isn't very constructive.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

yes, let's bring back the jimmy carter era, with 30% inflation!

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

I'm really tired of people getting on here assuming that everyone who supports Obama is an idiot. Have you not seen the exit polls? Obama has a commanding lead among educated people. Hillary is the one who attracts baffoons. I have three degrees and an IQ of 140, so I am by no means anyone's fool. Maybe its the Hillary supporters resenting the fact that Obama's supporters actually have brains, in addition to very good memories (the dot com bubble bursting, Whitewater, Travelgate, Filegate, Jennifer Flowers, Monica Lewinsky, Paula Jones, "I did not have sexual relations with that money", the tax returns, her white house schedule as first lady, her initial feelings about NAFTA, etc...) I could go on, but you get my point.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Well, CHARLIE, anyone who types his messages in all caps and writes "SOME" when he means "sum" might be well advised to hesitate before demeaning others' intelligence.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Ron, TX - "Can't wait to see it! My gf and I cheer every time Obama comes on the TV!"

Good job, Pavlov. She has taken the critics for years and continues to fight for people. She was fighting for people's rights in college when Obama was 4 years old. I wonder how many of the people reading and commenting have ever fought for someone else in their life. If Obama doe win the nomination my prediction is that all his supporters will drop him like a bad habit the minute he makes an incorrect, inexperienced decision that costs lives or money.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

It is not about Hillary noty having enough experience in comparison to a male, Settle. Had she not been as polarizing as she is; had she not voted for the Iraq war and not allowed herself to surrender to the Republicans (Bush in particular); had she been more upfront and released her tax eturns and other essential documents; had she avoided using deceptive and divisive campaign tactics like politics of race, gender, tears, victim and so on; and had she better managed her campaign and cut on her strategist's undeserving high pay, Hillary Clinton would absolutely win the nomination and probably the presidency no matter what the hatemonging conservatives try to do in their quest to block democracy and equality.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Chuck Todd reminds me of Murray on Flight of the Chonchords.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

"I have three degrees and an IQ of 140 ..."
--Sounds like somebody needs to live life beyond the confines of the academic atmosphere.

[I'm really tired of people getting on here assuming that everyone who supports Obama is an idiot.
Carlo, Baton Rouge, Louisiana]
--Carlo, what a crazy name, I've never heard that before.
--Anyway, I don't think that people assume idiot, so much as blind follower. I would certainly not consider myself a blind follower (I do not get caught up in the flair of Mr. Obama's oratory, but rather his fresh, correct and well-thought-out ideas; political savvy and better politics), and I think that it is a misconception of Obama's supporters. To the contrary, as Carlo points out, I think many of Obama's supporters are well-reasoned, and there are an equal number of 'blind followers' for Obama as there are for other candidates.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Carlo: Anyone who supports Obama is a fool in the eyes of a majority of Clinton supporters. What if Barack sat down with John and said this:

"Between you and me, John, this is what I want to do. I want to make 2 minute ad buys the Monday night before the Texas and Ohio primaries, and I want you to be in them with me, John."

That would be awesome, but I don't want to hype myself too much. He could have a great career as Attorney General in an Obama Administration and we all know it. I'm convinced John has thought about this.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

This incredible young voter (Derrick) starts out with just one issue (Healthcare) and then explains the whole Obama movement better than all the experts.
Please listen to both of these videos (first one first).

http://thinkonthesethings.wordpress.com/2008/02/06/video-interviewer-picks-the-wrong-obama-supporter-to-try-to-railroad/

http://thinkonthesethings.wordpress.com/2008/02/12/video-obama-supporter-derrick-responds-to-his-video/

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

The high-hype candidate with his soft feminine brand and emotional rallies where people swoon/faint raises big bucks. America is in meltdown! This is obscene. :(

Texas and Ohio - don't vote for the cue-card kid. He can't do the job, and many Dems will vote for McCain if Barack is the nominee.

Hillary the HOPE of 08 or McCain :)

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Obama is dangerously inexperienced and unprepared. Carlo, you are not the only educated, above average IQ person voting. You're right that Obama has the votes of the more educated but that doesn't make it the right decision. They are looking at the election from a totally different viewpoint and can probably relate with him as he is closer to their age. But please, don't tell me that many of his votes are not coming from a pied piper effect and people are just following along without thinking. The pied piper had ulterior motives and I know Obama's messages are not altruistic. He is as ambitious as any politician. He hasn't voted enough to even get a real feel for his honest stand on issues. If you think that he will do all that he says then you're not using that education you have. Anyone can promise and talk but they certainly can't make things happen. He will flounder around and our country will suffer greatly for it. Why he is in such a rush is rather curious. In 2004 he said he didn't have enough experience and that he would barely have a year in as senator if he were to run. Well, something changed. His friend and co-speech writer, who admitted they shared speeches won his bid for governor. Guess what, his term has been a failed one. His promises of bringing people together and getting things done has turned out to be "just words".
I will not put the fate of my country in the hands of someone who is untested and unknown. I will not go along with the other little mice and fall in line for his candidacy. I am amazed that people don't look at his rhetoric and see that it is impossible to do all that he says. I'm sorry, but Obama as president will be a disaster not because he isn't capable but because he is not ready. Give himself a few terms in the Senate to really see how things are done and build this coalition he talks about. Then, maybe, he could be a good president. Why he wants to rush into it is rather disconcerting and causes me to wonder why.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

well its total Obama clean campaign. When a large ad is kept till last hour so no one can respond means it is prob filled with crap

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

I, for one, am happy that Obama has less "experience" than Hillary or McCain. Let's see what "experience did for Hillary's campaign. She had two successful campaigns prior to this one (her husband's) and most of his political friends. It was Obama's lack of experience that enabled him to break tradition, decide not to take money from lobbies and special interest groups (a huge step) and, low and behold. Who would have thought? That would be a disaster.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Will the ad be something like this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMpbpov-HcA

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Personally, I'd like to see the Yes We Can video in a 2-min edit .... The USA, Canada and Mexico !!! Obama ads imply that it is global.
Obviously not all Obama supporters have 140+ IQ's and some Hillary supporters are actually MENSA members.
Teri Minneapolis (Sent Thursday, February 28, 2008 6:08 PM)

Teri,

Before you go about insulting others, you might want to educate yourself to what is really happening out there. Motivated by cheap Mexican labor, little safety over-site and inspection, and weak environmental regulations in Mexico, shippers are sending goods from Asia to Mexican ports. They then ship those goods into Texas and then to anywhere in U.S. and Canada. NAFTA is what is allowing this. China and any other country can ship it's goods into Mexico, get around our port inspections, and ship the goods into the US by way of the NAFTA agreement. It's costing us jobs in US ports across the country, as well as allowing the flow of potentially dangerous items to be shipped into the US. The border agents can not come close to checking the millions of shipments coming across the Mexico/US border in the same way they could check those shipments as they went through customs in a US port.

Companies are most definately moving their operations overseas. They then ship the items to Mexico, pay less wages to dock workers, less port fees, etc. Then ship the stuff right up to the US by way of NAFTA.

Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Shane "Hussein" Anthony, here!

(BTW, Hussein means "Handsome" ... it's a pretty common moniker. She has tried and tried to raise her experience, yet she can't run a well put together campaign! They tried to squelch the nevada primaries with a lawsuit. They sent Chelsea out to campaign with no interviews, not even to a 10 yr old! When she lost Iowa, the voters were "peculiar". Every other primary she las lost, she ignored her supporters in that state, did not concede, pretended like it never happened. Which is viewed as incredibly rude and arrogant! Then, the media has been biased, and given Obama a free ride. Then, she "always gets the qustion FIRST!" WAHHHH... GIVE ME A BREAK! They said before the last debate, it was gonna be the kitchen sink debate! She has whined and complained about everyone and everything, and it's alway poor Hillary! Does that sound like an International leader? Has she sounded "Presidential", able to control a national catastrophe? She can't go one day without whining about something isn't fair???
Now we hear again and again the "gender" card. If Obama had used the same tactics as the Clinton campaign, being a MAN, would he be looked at as weak? Your darn right he would! So when Hillary complains about being treated differently b/c she is a woman, she has been given MANY breaks by the MEDIA b/c she is a WOMAN! No MAN on the campaign would get positive press by whining and crying....poor ME! So she has benefitted greatly by being a woman, and how the press covers her!!
She has not released her tax records, and has REFUSED to do so. Why? What is there to hide from the democractic voters?? All the MEN running in this election have done it, why hasn't she? Has she gotten a pass from the media on this? Sure she has. It would be in the headlines every day if it was Obama refusing to release his tax forms!
I'm tired of the Clinton campaign always crying foul, always whining about how unfair everything is, when it comes to her. Her campaign has been run terribly, she was out of money, they hop from one "slogan" to another, every day. She has shown inconsistancy, poor management of finances, lack of inner strength and good judgement, and that's just her campaign! How would she run the White House and OUR NATION????
Now, they are talking lawsuits about the delegates in fla. and mi. She signed a legal document. Now she is trying to get around that, in a desperate pitch to win at all costs!! It's the Clinton way! Even if it destroys MY party, and the Republicans win the white house, she doesn't care!
And as a woman, I am SOOO disgusted with her whining and complaining constantly,it is a pathetic scene to watch, day in and day out!
Obama buys 2-minute ads in OH, TX

Senator Obama is grounded in the constitution to restore the balance of power that our founding fathers intended. He has served our state, Illinois, well. He has our highest regards. Barack Obama is a fine, upstanding patriot who will lead this country with fairness and integrity. For our children and a better day, America. Yes We Can.
