MY TAKE: The problem as it exists is that these primary elections have allowed Independent and Republican voters to skew our Democratic Party's selection process. No "undeclared' and No "undecided" and No "Independent" delegates are allowed at the Democratic National Convention. So why are they allowed to participate in our Democratic Primary? Let them become Democrats and then they can have a say in this Primary.

These PLEO delegates should vote their conscience, on behalf of the Democratic Party. The thinking was that these are the "Democrats Among Democrats." Those individuals that we, as Democrats, have already established as our leadership. They should possess the ability to discern what is truthful come to more balanced informed opinions and would be more likely to vote for the TRUE DEMOCRAT, rather than just hype, hyperbole, and hucksters.

I think these "caucus irregularities" actually speak to the general inexperience of most caucus-goers this election rather than some sort of Obama coup. My father in Austin called me from his caucus to say that where there were 7 people in attendance in 2004, tonight there were over 300. Let's really think about how many of the people out tonight are first timers. Furthermore, how many people out there didn't even know what the word caucus meant until this election? A certain amount of disorganization and/or misunderstandings is to be expected.

Sure, what happened doesn't sound like fair play. But I am willing to bet that those things came out of ignorance and a level of immaturity rather than serious disenfranchisement.

What I have not heard is any word about or inquiry into the missing votes in New York in 80 precincts in which no votes were recorded for Obama. Mayor Bloomberg at one time mentioned fraud, yet I am not aware of the Obama campaign bringing it up to the press nor of any mention by the press of possible fraud in the New York primary. Sen. Obama may actually deserve more NY delegates and no one seems interested in knowing what actually happened. Why?

I just got back from 2+ hours of caucusing in Harris County (precinct 039) and I can report that we were orderly and respectful of each other's groups. There was some confusion (as there always is) but there were no irregularities as far as I could tell. We wound up with 27 delegates for Obama, 19 for Clinton.
We were just all so proud of our fellow dems that we had such a huge turnout. Several people on both sides made stood to make comments about party unity and co-operation. All in all a fantastic experience.

The caucus that I attended in Texas was exactly the opposite of that. Clinton supporters DID get control of the leadership roles and made it very clear that they were Clinton supporters. They were heckling people as they signed the caucus sheet for Obama, and made comments about voting for the 'wrong person' and 'let me change that for you.' When I challenged them on their intimidation, and somewhat abusive language, they said 'it's all in good fun.' But then they whine that Obama supporters are doing shady things? NOT IN MY PRECINCT. We ended up having to flip a coin, SERIOUSLY, because we were exactly tied. I'm not speaking for all Clinton supporters, but at our precinct it was a very uncomfortable experience, and they were rude and abrasive to Obama supporters. Including the leadership.

The caucus system is flawed. I attended my first primary caucus Feb 5th in Minneapolis. I left feeling so alarmed that I wrote letters describing my concern to both of my state representatives. At my caucus (which was clearly operated by Obama supporters) there was no requirement to show proof of identification, no required proof of residence in the precint, and people were entering and exiting through multiple doors. Anyone could have entered to vote multiple times. There is no opportunity to submit absentee ballots.

This experience gave me an entirely new perspective on the relative value of winning a caucus state as opposed to winning a primary ballot state. Caucuses are run by political activists and do not truly reflect the population's opinions. This system should be changed.

This article is about Clinton alleging irregularities in the Texas caucuses... I just took part in one and I can tell you that it was odd... no show of hands, no separate rooms. They separated us into 2 lines but then kept shuffling back and forth so you could never tell how many were for Clinton or for Obama. We just all had to sign our names but they kept shuffling the people and the papers around so you couldn't tell anything. I thought that they usually either had a show of hands or put you in separate rooms so they'd know basically who was ahead. The way they did it in my precinct would make it very easy to tamper. I thought it was weird and everyone was confused as to why they were doing it that way.

After being screamed at and being told to shut up and sit down by Obama supporters at my Washington State caucus I have no doubt about the truth. Many of the older voters simply got up and left the caucuses. The Obama campaign is filled with young enthusiastic supporters, which is great, but they also lack the discipline and values needed to participate in civil discourse. Americans under 40 are, in my opinion, spoiled brats with a mean streak and little discipline... so there you have what I've seen.

Oh, by the way did anyone actually notice that the Obama momentum is now officially broken and that no matter what happens in Texas the race is still a virtual tie? What will the DNC do with those disenfrancised voters from Michigan and Florida (both Clinton states)? Also when one candidates momentum includes wins in such Democratic strongholds as the hugely populated Utah, Idaho, Maine and Alabama and the others wins are in California, New York and Ohio (and the uncounted Florida) where do you think this should go? Also check out results in primaries (the ballot box) vs. caucuses (public spectacles with no secrecy) and see what is happening. Thugs can win - ask any Obama brown shirt, I mean supporter.

I just left a caucus in the great city of Austin-it was evident that there were many more Obama supporters and guess what?! A well-known, former representative who is a VOCAL Hillary supporter, was APPOINTED temporary chair.

The only reason I feel ok about my vote is that there was an Obama supporter sitting at the table where I signed in for Obama.

Having just finished my caucus here in Texas, I can tell you that it was the most unexpected thing I have ever seen. There were hundreds of people lining up to the extent that it took more than 2 hours just to register everyone that showed up for the caucus. This coming from a precinct where in past years democrats were able to just walk up to the table and republicans waited in long lines. I am glad that there are two strong candidates still in the race to stir up the excitement that has not been in my precinct for several decades. I am proud to be a first time delegate to move on to the next stage of this year.

I was at the caucus tonight and an Obama supporter did walk off with the precient captians materials. Annoucements were made asking that the person bring the materials back, eventually the materials were returned.

This was the first time I ever participated in a caucus. It was interesting but didn't seem to be an accurate way to determine who a nominee should be. It was quite confusing, somewhat divisive and rather intimidating. Texas, just stick with regular primaries.

The Clinton campaign has been playing dirty tricks for 14 months; so what's new? The Clinton operatives have been scaring up votes by once again raising the Muslim thing, the Rezko thing, and all the other negative garbage about Obama, during this past week --- all the stuff that has been explained and explained and been put to bed. But with the Clintons, nothing gets put to bed if it can possibly scare up votes for her.

You know, I just love how it is said over and over that Obama has not been vetted. Obama has had to answer to charges and innuendos for a solid year, while Hillary got a pass on “not releasing the tax returns”, “not releasing any White House records to show she did anything in the White House”, shady campaign donations from shady characters, and on misstating contributions (and on 35 years of experience, which started when she was in her second year of law school).

Just last week, approximately 36 hours BEFORE the end of the month, Hillary reported her campaign had received 35 million during February. I thought: “Okay, there’s something wrong here, because why would she report total contributions for the month, when she still had 36 hours to collect contributions, and therefore she could report a larger number?” Sure enough, The Press reported the 35 million for about two days. Then, suddenly, website and newspaper articles starting saying: 32 million. But there was no explanation. How do you go from 35 million, during the last 36 hours of the month, to 32 million? Interesting!! Hillary is so sneaky and deceitful.

There are many examples of Hillary’s distorting reality, but take, for example: the first quarter of 2007 campaign contributions. It was always reported that Hillary had contributions of 27 million, and Obama had 25 million. Sound familiar? It should, because it was reported over and over that Hillary beat Obama by 2 million. However, if you check the FEC reports (and I always do, because I am a member of Obama’s “Awakened Electorate”), you will find that Obama had campaign contributions of 25.79 million, and Hillary had 26.05 (her published total of 36.05 includes 20 million she injected from her senatorial campaign). So, in other words, Hillary’s got rounded up to 27 million, and Obama got rounded down to 25 million. Since when does 50,000 get rounded to a million? Although it was reported that Hillary beat Obama by 2 million, she actually beat Obama by a mere $260,000.

This is the kind of favoritism and “Good Press” for Hillary that went on and on, during 2007, and continues to this day. She just gets a pass on it.

I encourage all of you to read a very profound article by David Brooks in the NY Times, dated March 4, 2008, titled “A Defining Moment”. This is the best way I know to express how I really feel, and how many people feel in this country.

Reading the comments posted here is a lesson in how ugly politics has become in the U.S. I'm no fan of Hillary or Bill, but growing up in IL has also given me a very clear picture of the underhandedness of the Chicago political machine. What I can't figure out is why many of you don't see the parallels: you find Obama "charismatic" "refreshing" "engaging" yada, yada, but that's exactly how Billy boy Clinton got elected in the first place, and he probably had more real experience than Obama does. We had some issues like these in Idaho, but it was the Clinton staffers who were passing out re-caucus ballots before they were allowed. They hurried around gathering signatures while the Edwards and Obama camps both waited until they had been given the OK. I thought that was very admirable considering both camps knew what the Clinton campaign was doing, but decided to play by the rules anyway. It didn't create a big stir here since Obama won with 79% of the vote, but it tells me that the Clinton's are the ones willing to win at all costs...whether they are cheating or accusing others of cheating them.

In my precinct, the chair was not elected by majority vote. He won by one vote in a 3 person race. The other individual in charge was a 17 year old Obama campaign worker. Vote tallies were being recording in an Obama hand out rather than on official democratic party forms. When I complained about it, they began to use the proper materials. The temporary chairman (who was elected chairman by one vote) did not know the proper procedures and gave conflicting information: Obama supporters were told to stay until the end of the caucus and a show of hand vote was conducted in addition to the official votes that were recorded on the forms. There were 8 pages of votes that were on a xeroxed copy of an official form rather that on the in triplicate form supplied by the party. Clinton supporters were told they could leave after they recorded their vote on the official sheet. Mis-information resulted in Obama being awarded at least one delegate more than the official tally.

I just attended at democratic precinct caucus in Dallas and it was as well run as it could be, seeing as we haven't had a voice in the nomination process for many years. Our precinct had 16 delegates for Clinton and 11 for Obama. The saddest part was that the Obama delegates left before we completed the precinct business and thus were left out of voicing their opinions on submissions to our party platform. All in all, though, this is so much more fun than any primary I've participated in since I was eligible to vote.

I love the political games and especially the armchair quarterbacks that from several states away are able to tell us what is actually happening here in Texas. It is now 11:11 pm and Hillary has 51% to Obama's 48% with 59% of the votes counted. So, I'm not crying when I report that upon showing up prior to the polls closing, for my precinct caucus, people where actually telling voters that they didn't need to come back for the caucus. After the polls closed, we were locked out and not allowed in for the caucus until a call was placed telling the election officials to open the doors and let us in. I don't know who was actually to blame for this and I don't have proof but, it does appear that someone was "messing around with the system a little".

I live in Texas. Tonight I attended the caucus for my precinct, #3363 in Haslet, Texas. The church where it was held was full of Clinton and Obama supporters.We had to wait an extra half-hour to begin caucusing because of high voter turnout. I never witnessed any contentious behavior from members of either camp.I want to hear from actual voters tnat participated in the precinct caucuses in question about what happened tonight. What did they see? I bet it was just as undramatic as my evening.

If the Texas Caucus vote doesn't agree with the popular vote then Texas will take a very black eye. The notion the caucus can contridict the popular vote is very unAmerican and goes against not only democracy but also fairness. Texas if it has signicficant differences between the popular vote and the caucus votes will be the but hole of jokes from Maine to California. There is no good reason there should be a caucas in Texas. It is unAmerican! It violates the one person one vote doctrine. The only reason seems to be to give some special persons a way to influence elections beyond there reperesentative protion of the general vote. Anyone argue otherwise please. The Caucus system seems very unfair and offers some more influence over the results that most of us don't get to unfluence. Now how can anyone call that American? Fair play is fair play. Those able to attend the caucus meetintg are given unfair, undemocratic, special chance to inflence the vote.

One man one vote should be the rule. Caucus serves no useful purpose towards serving the system. They should be abolished and the votes in the general popular vote should be the only votes. One day Texas will porportion more caucus votes to the loser in the general election. That will leave Texas the but of many jokes. Frankly it seems an unwelcome black eye to an otherwise fine states elections.

I love it that people who DON'T live in Texas and haven't been to any of our caucuses are so quick to say ANYthing. Until you are HERE going to the HELL that was the caucus shut up. As poorly as the caucuses were run down here it is no surprise that there WILL be irregularities. At the one I was at people were almost trampled and children yanked away from parents by alleged adults pushing them aside so they could get in sooner. They were "important" people you know.

I caucused tonight in Texas. There weren't any dirty tricks that I could see. I didn't see anyone locked out. There was a judge supervising vote counting. I'd say both sides were pretty polite and went out of their ways to be fair.

Several different suspicious events occurred at several voting polls here in Texas. I found out that several people were basically shut out and turned away, without voting...!!!!, I also heard that people that were to voted for Clinton, were kept waiting in line for up to 30 minutes.., several Obama reps or supports were basically given preferential treatment to Obama voters....., is this what democracy is about!!!

It's not a sour grapes, it is reality. for those Obama supports, you really need to wake up and smell the coffee..., we don't need inspirational speeches and words that will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside., we need action and experience and somebody taht will say "let's get to work!!!" and stop the blabbering!!!

The fact of the matter is, everything that they are accusing the Obama campaign of doing is in fact legal. That is the entire purpose behind caucases. It's well documented on how they should be run, and what should happen if there is no official at the location. It's the very thing that Barack is trying to change. Not only is he trying to win the Democrat nomination, he is single-handidly trying to change politics in America.

here's some more dirty tricks...i've actually been told by several republican work acquaintances in Texas that they are going to the polls in the open TX primary and voting across party lines for Clinton just because they think that McCain can beat her easily. That doesn't seem right. I just wonder when the Democrats are going to wake up and realize that by voting Clinton into the nomiation, they are all but putting McCain in the White House in November. Then again, the Democrats always do find a way to mess things up, and then wonder what hit them when the results roll in.
