From NBC/NJ's Aswini AnburajanCould the burst of negative campaigning in the last three days before yesterday's primaries have made a difference to voters in Ohio or Texas?

Although I have wondered how he would be able to fight the establishment with so much money, lobbyists, corporate influence, and compromised politicians. I'm less optimistic now than I was on Super Tuesday. I love what Obama stands for, but I don't see how he can fight against the combined power of the establishment.

Jeesh . . . the Clinton camp and Rush Limbaugh are now united in urging Republicans to vote for Hillary to help stop Obama??? Now I've heard of everything!!! They're going to find a way to drag this honorable man down and I just don't know that there is anything we normal people can do to stop it.

The fact of the matter is that I NEVER was going to vote for Hillary. She and Bill represent everything that I have always hated in American politcs. And her systematic dirty politcs in dragging down Obama only make me loathe her more. Seriously . . . she is attacking him over questionable real estate deals??? *cough*Whitewater*cough* simply unbelievable!

So I'll vote for Obama if he can find a way to fight through, but if Clinton steals the nomination, my vote will go to McCain . . . It's a shame when merica votes out of fear and nasty rheteric. They are the same ones who voted for Bush twice(Bush carried this state in the general election.) There is no harder thing then losing your employment....but look at who or what is the problem. Bill Clinton carried Ohio and he introduced NAFTA...and look what happened. Now the Ohioans have voted for someone who used dirty tactics...to scare up votes...who all the while claimed at one time that NAFTA was good..but now implies to nasty tactics that Obama was talking out the both sides of his mouth. The Canadian Goverment even said that this was not the case. Wake up people...no matter what you can not rely on goverment to somehow waive a magic wand and have a good job fall out of the sky for you. Clinton knows this, but she campaigned to the ignorant to get votes for her own personal ambition. I have concluded that Washington needs a change in culture and mindset...and if Hillary wins..this African American will vote for McCain. At least I feel he is genuine...he wants the job because he does feel he can make a difference. Hillary wants the job..because simply she only wants to be President. To be honest I have a great job..and I found it under the Bush Administration..because I not the goverment but I found tools to better prepare me for the future. I supported Obama because he reminds me of another President who did inspire Americans to do the same thing...John F. Kennedy. Until the American public realizes that the catalyst of success begins with THEMSELVES..then we will always be going around the Mulberry Bush of saying" Gov't please do something so I won't stuck in the situation I'm in" I know I have been there. I think the young voters like myself...identify to that...so you can't say we don't know any better....YOU RAISED US. So blame yourselves for raising us that way. I have had a real awakening over the last few days...and I for one will do what I can to add my purpose for change for this country I love. By voting for John McCain if he faces Hillary..not to spite her...or the party. I will vote for him because I a proud African American has identified that Goverment role is to protect, enforce the constitution. Not to hold my hand...something Hillary promises to do. I hope this get printed on this blog and not censored! Obama keep up the fight, but continue to do it honorably. Don't stoop the level of stink for the highest honor of the land...if Hillary wins it..she will carry mud with her when she sits in the chair!and stains take a long time to wash out.

A long seven weeks...

well i think they should have a real debate just them no reporters runing it one on one and both should say in plan english what there plans for the economy is and what they are going to do about it and also there health plans in detail what it is and how it will work and the war also of course i think that would give everyone a chance to decide for themselfs who would be right for the job a little late for that but better late than never i do not want another 4 or 8 years of bush and macaine we cant aford that and they should leave there sink throwing and there pretty speaches at home

A long seven weeks...

As a devout independent, I can't say that I really have a dog in this fight. I have, however, wondered, how scrutiny of some of the Clintons' past dealings has failed to show up in the discourse of the Democratic primaries. Certainly, the Republicans will not pass on the opportunity to bring up with much vigor the Whitewater deal, Travelgate, Filegate, and any number of odd dealings. I'm sure they will also point out that several of the Clintons' associates have spent some time as wards of the state. Mr. Axelrod's comments lead me to believe that, despite Mr. Obama's remarkable restraint of late in leaving such attacks to the Republicans this fall, the Democratic contest may go nuclear. Perhaps the hardcore supporters and the party wisepersons should consider this before they really tear the party in half instead of merely threaten to do so. Like I said, it doesn't matter much to me; although, I would like to have a viable candidate to consider in the fall now that the other guys have settled on the status quo. Perhaps the unsolicited musings of a relatively disinterested party may be of value to someone in this highly partisan intra-party debate. Good night, and good luck.

A long seven weeks...

What happened to the politics of hope? His ability to face adversity with the same grace and vison that he has when celebrating a victory is one of the reasons I know that he is the man to lead America into the future.

Senator Obama has proven that a positive campaign can be successful, just as his positve vision for America will be.

While I congratulate Senator Clinton and her supporters on their victories tonight (something they never do when the shoe is on the other foot), I am comforted by the fact that I support a candidate who can take the good with the bad, can say he's sorry when he makes a mistake, and still stay focused on what is really important - laying the groundwork to make REAL CHANGE in the way America is governed, not just changing the drapes in the Oval Office and the name on the office door.

That is why last night's results reaffirmed my belief that I am supporting the right candidate.

A candidate who wants to lead Americans in all 50 states, not just the ones he wins.

A candidate who draws distinctions based on substantive matters like healthcare, Social Security, and immigration, not rumors, innuendo, and lies.

I believe now more than ever that America needs Barack Obama. No matter what the polls or pundits say, Senator Barrack Obama has had the same message from "Day 1" of his campaign that he has today - it's time to turn the page on old divisions and join together to tackle some of our biggest problems.

We have come too far to turn back now . . .

Obama '08

A long seven weeks...

I'll start by stating that I am an Obama supporter. The Obama campaign is now learning that speaking eloquently and inspirationally, even when drawing distinctions and debating, isn't going to get enough attention. As much as I hate to say it, you have to hit people with the proverbial "ball bat" just to get their attention and then use (again, unfortunately) not more than 1 to 2 syllable words to make your point. In addition, (and it really pains me to say this) but in Ohio, even in the 21st century, there are still a lot of whites that will not vote for a black candidate.

A long seven weeks...

Obama's supporters are so in love with themselves that if Obama doesn't get the nomination or win the general election, they are all gonna cry fowl.

Obama's supporters will insist that someone stole something, or that race had everything to do with it.

Give me a break.

There are people (plenty of people) that don't like Obama despite what his supporters think and they don't think that he is qualified to be the next President of the United States.

Stop whining and crying about stealing elections and race, it's really pathetic.

By the way, the only candidate so far (Democrat or Republican) that has gone LEGAL, is Obama with his lawsuit stunt last night in Ohio.

Everyone knew the weather was going to be bad all day in Ohio and yet Obama waited until the numbers started being reported in Ohio with him 18 points behind Clinton and he filled a lawsuit to reopen and keep open 15 polls in Cuyahoga County. One of the larger African American populated counties and one of the counties that Obama was expected to win big.

The lawsuit claimed that there was a shortage of ballots, but the Obama camp said it was also due to the weather.

The bottom line is Obama was the first and only candidate thus far to file a lawsuit and it still didn't help him win.

And Obama and his supporters claim that he it the “Change” candidate and he doesn’t do things the way the establishment does.

Really?

Change my a**.
A long seven weeks...

It never ceases to amaze me that American voters respond to scare tactics; particularly after the failed Bush administration.

I agree with DaDane in Baltimore and NY Dem (see above). If it goes "tit for tat" as Axelrod said, a Pandora's box of the Obamas may not contain all good things.

A long seven weeks...

Wow, it is truly amazing to read all the "sour grapes" comments being posted by Obama supporters. Face it, this is going to be a tight race to the convention. The pledged delegate count is going to be fairly close, maybe Obama by 100-150. Clearly no real winner based on pledged delegates. The decision will ride on resolution of Florida/Michigan and whether super delegates truly cast their votes by exercising independent judgement as to who the best candidate is to win the general election.

A long seven weeks...

What I'm afraid of is this will be just another episode of people talking good about the nice guy when he loses. I would imagine Gary Hart, McGovern, and others such as them got the same treatment. In the end, the nastiness prevails. People will blame it on the bad politicians then move on. People like Joe Bagadonitz, up there, should be doing more than complaining. You must understand that you can do more than the less educated ones who can be played like fools and in whom racism is probably much rooted. You who can must be proactive in order to take your government back from the corrupted politicians. Otherwise, it will just be another year of bickering and disappointment then everyone moves on to complaint and grieve for another four or eight years.

A long seven weeks...

Obama can not attack her he has ran his campaign on change not being like the insiders. Wade. Since the nomination battle continues, as well it should, we will all continue making our arguments for our chosen candidates. For those whose arguments are venomous, the minority that keeps post the same vile racist or sexist rants, there is little hope to change their minds let alone their souls. For the rest I would ask everyone to consider carefully the argument that Hillary Clinton is more electable because she has already been vetted by the Republicans. Obama has done a disservice to his campaign and the nation by taking the high road and not exposing Hillary's weaknesses that will come out in the general election. Rezko is nothing compared to Norman Hsu (Clinton contributor now in federal custody after fleeing fraud convictions)or the Charles Keating (McCain's really bone-headed mistake). Obama was right not to say "Monica" or "Whitewater" or "Travelgate" or etc. That is demeaning and lowers the level of discussion. However, it is reasonable to argue that Hillary Clinton has hidden a good deal from the public. Does anyone think that workers in Ohio would have responded positively to the fact that since leaving office Bill Clinton has profited enormously from helping his partners to outsource jobs to India. There is a reason that the Clinton tax returns are not available. It is telling that early in the campaign someone in the Obama camp referred to Hillary Clinton as the "Senator from the Punjab" since she has gotten significant funds by virtue of Bill's corporate ties to the Indian subcontinent. Obama quickly fired that campaign worker and did not pursue the basis of the allegation. Certainly this type of characterization is wrong, just as using the term pimp in the same sentence as Chelsea Clinton. The difference here is that Clinton's ties to the world of international business and lobbyists are relevant to her ability to be an effective leader. I don't think the Clintons are selling their lovely daughter, but I hesitate tio think about Bill selling influence from the White House. Don't be afraid, think about it.

A long seven weeks...

I told my daughter before I left for work this morning that Hillary can't win for the losing. Some people will die before they say something positive about her.
She didn't win because of 'dirty tricks' or 'vote manipulation', any more than Obama lost because of Resko or his unexpectedly poor handling of the Canada flub. She won because she won and he lost because he lost. It's a divided electorate and will most likely result in a split ticket. Let everyone else vote and move on.
It's really funny that the people who hate her with the most (usually baseless) vitriol are actually doing her the most good.
Like McCain, she performs best when she's the underdog. Obama not so much. In fact, he looked downright surly last night.
Guess being out of all that rarified air and down w/ the rest of us common people isn't so much to his liking.
He'd better get used to it tho as it appears it's not even close to over.

A long seven weeks...

Clinton is being supported by the Pennsylvania political machine, including Governor Rendell. Obama'a religion, patriotism or so-called anti-american stance and guilt by association. Allow me to enlighten you about thes things and what I feel will or should be Sen. Obama's responce to them.
Sen. Obama is a Christian and he was sworn in on a Bible not a Qua'ran as you all seem to believe, Hillary knows this because SHE HAS ATTENDED PRAYER BREAKFAST WITH HIM!
On the fact that he doesn't wear a flag pin on his lapel. His stated reason is he doesn't is because it is being used as a FASHION STATEMENT and that is not a true barameter of ones commitment to the USA. What makes matters worse is that if she really believes that he does then despite ALL HER EXPERIENCE SHE DOESN'T KNOW HOW THE SENAE WORKS!!!!
I for one am SADDENED that the elections last night shows that the way to get ahead is not by being better that someone but by pulling that person lower than you are now.

A long seven weeks...

I applaud the voters for exercising their right to vote for the person that they want to. However, I am wondering if those votes were for the person that we Americans really need to lead our country back to where it should be or whether it was "AGANIST" the person who is different in the way they look, present themselves, or because of their culture. I will probably get negative responses to my comments but I will take that chance. It appears, from most of the comments and even from some of the media and analyst and their guests, that most of America is still not ready to look past differences in race and culture. We seem to lean more toward negativity and dirty politics rather than wanting to come together as a nation of people that will stand for what our forefathers envisioned for this great nation. I don't believe that we will return to the status of "A Great Nation" until we decide that what is best for all is best for one and vice versa. When politicians and individuals get what they want at any cost it goes against what is good for all. Change is what America now needs more than anything and it is apparent in the way that we are responding to each other. It has been said words don't mean anything! If that is the case, why are we letting words guide our thinking? If that is the case, why do we speak them, why not just use sign language. Words cause us to think, thinking causes us to come up with ideas, ideas result in goals, goals turn into solutions.

A long seven weeks...

Hillary won last night-Obama lost.Watched Obama a couple of times ---surly and whining just like the obamanoids on this site.Yes he should bring out the clinton foibles -----but do not forget he and Michelle have a lot of skeletons in their closets that can be brought out.Do you think the republicans have been sitting on their hands since Obama became into their sites?By the way ---why did Obama go to court in Ohio and have voting extended for 2 more hours?Did ithelp----also why were Hillary Clintons yard signs being trashed?

A long seven weeks...

To all of the closet Hillary supporters who say that's politics with the dirty ads and inuendo, are you proud that your candidate has insulted you and the intelligence of other Americans by saying this is what the people want. Is that what she thinks of the American public that they are stupid enough to buy anything. I am an independent who has not completely made up my mind on who I will vote for, but I know that I will not vote for Hillary because she clearly has no respect for the American people with her tactics. PS she actually has 37 years experience, she forgot to claim 2 years as a girl scout.

A long seven weeks...

How can any thoughtful voter think HRC & her machine stand for anything but business as usual, along with a daily increase in divisiveness.
