I am still at a loss for how Hillary gets away with the ‘experience’ line. I also cannot understand why this hasn’t been blown out of the water by any opponent yet. Does anyone have a suggestion for the Obama campaign to use to combat this fallacy? Once and for all, I would like to see this line completely discredited. As for the 3:00 AM call, I think the effects of this have worn off, and the attacks back against it have worked effectively.

I heard a TV pundit the other night say he always knew Senator Obama could take a punch, but could he throw one? She’s making it hard for him to stay on the high road all this time; but wouldn’t you once love to see him go off on her and put her in her place once and for all? The longer this goes on, the more we want to see her completely rejected.

Has anyone sat down with her to go over an exit strategy? If all of this comes crashing down, either loss of nomination or the general election, what will she have left? She will be an outcast in the Senate, and her effectiveness will be diminished to the point of non-existence. I don’t know if she has thought out the rest of her life, but on her current path, it is not rosy. What say you?

Superdelegates, where are you? Are you just going to sit on the sidelines watching while your party self-destructs? You realize, don’t you, that the rest of the primary season is all for your benefit? Hillary can’t catch Barack now in delegates, although she still has a long shot at catching him in the popular vote total. But so what? Fine, say we spot her a ten point win in Pennsylvania and we redo Florida and Michigan and she wins big enough to edge Barack out in the popular vote total. What can you possibly gain in terms of additional information about the candidates and their supporters that would make it worth the cost to the party and our ultimate nominee?

The arguments from both sides will still be essentially the same. The only difference come August will be that we sent two strong gladiators into the arena for your edification and one badly wounded nominee came limping out. It’s time for you move. This is an internal party decision here. We are under no obligation whatsoever to go through with the rest of an increasingly divisive primary season with all the wasted resources it will entail. Not just wasted, but invested in attack politics that will surely come back to haunt us in November.

The argument that many voters have yet to be heard is specious, at best. This is not the general election. When the primary process goes smoothly we have no problem leaving all kinds of voters without a real say in the outcome. It’s only in the really difficult years that we have to go this deep. This is all about picking the best nominee for the race in November while trying to do as little damage as possible getting there. It’s time for you to move.

Convene your own mini-convention if you must, and have the two campaigns present their best arguments as to why each will be the best nominee for the party. Do whatever it takes to come as close to a consensus as you can, and then move in a block to make it clear to all parties that this phase of the contest is over. The last thing we want to do is listen to all the breathless media hype. They have a powerful vested interest in keeping this primary season going. Conflict is great for ratings, but it will send entirely the wrong message to the rest of the country about us and our candidates. Let’s try and do the smart thing for a change and keep our nominee in decent shape going into the campaign against John McCain. It’s all up to you now, supers. Move!

Why won’t Hillary make her tax returns public? How about the 2006 Tax Returns at least then? The answer is simple—the money is dirty. You will see Dubai and countless other unsavory contributions from some questionable foreign excursions by Fmr. Pres. Clinton. Clinton supporters, is that really ok? Do you really want the specter of foreign influences hanging over the presidency?

Hillary has the endorsements of a ton of flag officers (generals) and has claimed to have crossed some imaginary threshhold for Commander-in-Chief. For those who may not know, general or general equivalent (admiral) is the only rank that can only be achieved with the recommendation of the President and an act of Congress. Colonel is as high as you can go without the Commander-in-Chief’s endorsement. The President has to make the recommendation and then the 100 members of the Senate have to approve it in order to make general. Now use your brains and figure out under whose admistration that the majority of these generals were commissioned. Pres. Clinton called in a favor and of course these generals have no problem in standing behind the wife of the man who advanced their careers. Don’t take my word for it, look it up and see the truth for yourselves, Clinton supporters. Instead why don’t you look at the enlisted men and the retired enlisted men and ask them who they support to be the Commander-in-Chief? Barack wins that argument hands down. Go to your nearest military installation or follow the campaign contributions.

Why have Hillary’s Whitehouse records been sealed and buried? The answer here is very simple. Bill didn’t give her credit for many of the things that she is now falsely claiming and there was NO co-presidency. Sen. Clinton had NO security clearance and is misstating her record there. She has made claims of having something to do with the Irish peace process and other platitudes. Not true. Sure she has had dinner with Jerry Andrews and some of SEINFENN but her diplomatic role there is non-existent. Again, just do your research.
I welcome anyone to dispute these statements. Eventually the truth always comes to light.

I wrote a longer posting down below under Knife Fight which is posted. So I won't reiterate that.

Instead I find I am at a tipping point. I am perilously close to not voting for Clinton at all at this point. All of this is the straw breaking the camel's back for me. Yes, I'm just one voter but I have been a Democrat my whole life.

What does an American have to do to vote against nastiness, and negative campaigning, and machine politics, and a divisive campaign and a candidate who will stop at nothing to win (I specifically added more on that point below).

I have always voted but this is not what I want.

I am perilously close to leaving the Democratic party as long as the Clinton's are involved.

Yes, I'm one vote, but I'm a lifelong Dem who has certainly supported the Clintons in the past. I supported Hillary as late as late January.

I truly can't take it any more.

I am not sure whether (if Hillary is the nominee) I will vote Repub., I will write in Obama or Edwards (if one can write-in), or if I will just not vote (which I really don't want to do).

How best to send the message that I won't stand for it anymore?

Barack Obama likes to talk about good judgement at 3AM as a cornerstone of his campaign. Hillary Clinton has already fired a handful of top advisers for much less. And she didn't wait days to do it. When is Barack Obama going to fire this advisor? I wouldn't compare Barack Obama to Dubbya under any circumstances, but I have to confess his waffling on this brought up the image of Dubbya sitting in the classroom for 7 long minutes while the USA was under attack.

Why aren't we talking more about the Globe & Mail's story claiming that it was the Clinton Campaign that told Canadian officials to disregard the stance on NAFTA as just political positioning?

IF THIS STORY IS TRUE it will be one of the ultimate campaign dirty tricks...Clinton will have pulled a complete 180 on her position on NAFTA in the Cleveland debate and then pinned it falsely on her opponent and then allowed the voters in Texas and, more importantly, Ohio to reward her for the deception.

IF THIS STORY IS TRUE it will prove what many have held all along...Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Machine will do anything and say anything to win the presidency.

IF THIS STORY IS TRUE it will destroy her candidacy and make her persona non grata in the Senate.

Why is the Clinton campaign allowed to do whatever it wants, then Hillary cries or says one nice thing, and she is magically morphed into some type of victim?

The "strength and experience" candidate is the victim of:

-"the boys" ganging up on her

-the media

-the caucuses

-the commitments she makes (in Florida and Michigan especially, but Nafta comes to mind as well)

- the things she says (for/against DL for illegal immigrants, for/aganist NAFTA, for/against bombing Iran)

-the rules of the Democratic party (which she helped to create!)

-President Bush who "tricked" her into voting for
the war

-anybody who questions her inherent right to rule

Paying for the do-over. I heard on NPR this morning that a do-over in Michigan would cost roughly $10 million. Perhaps Obama could offer a solution - his campaign pays for 1/3, the Clinton campaign pays for 1/3 and the DNC (or Michagan Dem Party) pays for 1/3. (Alternatively the Clinton and Obama campaigns each pay for 1/2).

If a do-over in FL is needed (which, given that Obama's name was on the ballot - even though I'm sure some voters stayed home - is not as clear to me), perhaps the same formula could apply.

Michigan definitely needs some sort of do-over, esp since Obama's name wasn't on the ballot. Florida, not so much.

(BTW - Obama supporter who will (still) hold her nose and vote for Hillary in the general)

I think we should take into account the number of registered Democrats voting for either candidate. It is the super delegates' duty to vote in such a way as to preserve the integrity and pursue the goals of the Party.
I would be interested in seeing which candidate seems to have the support of the Democratic base prior to making any arguement as to how Super Delegates should vote. Neither candidate will win in 2008 without the support of the base.

This is an important question given the large number of wins Barach has received through the Caucus process. So few people actually participate in a caucus as compared to a primary it would be a big mistake to assume that a caucus win will equate to a large voter turnout for the candidate.

Florida had many ABSENTEE votes cast in December - well before Obama won in Iowa - in December it was Hillary who had the huge NAME REGOGNITION. And she has led in many states UNTIL Obama enters the state and campaigns. He did not do this in Florida as the candidates - ALL CANDIDATES - AGREED that Florida would NOT COUNT! And no one campaigned there. Has there been ANY state other than Arkansas where BOTH have campaigned and SHE has won by over 20 points? I don't think so! And the PEOPLE in Florida KNEW their VOTES WOULD NOT COUNT - so many people who WOULD. HAVE VOTED DID NOT! So, there is absolutely NO WAY that counting the January vote would be fair.

Just punish these states for going against the rules by splitting the delegates 50/50 between Hillary and Obama. (or maybe cut a % of the delegates as further punishment, as the GOP did) No harm, no foul. That way these states' State Legislatures will have to explain to their constituents why they broke the rules - but, the states can be somewhat placated by having their Delegations seated in Denver. No harm, no foul on the outcome - but the States will at least be able to attend the convention.

As a woman, I would really like to see a woman as President, just not this one...she is an embarrassment to us all, and I am sorry for those of you who are so blinded by the fact that she is a woman that you can not see that.

Dean's 50 state strategy is what has drained the accounts - anyone who was on the DNC email list from 3-4 years back may remember these emails about not ignoring the "red" states. I, for one, believe it could be a great strategy. It did Dems well in 2006, and hopefully will continue in 2008. I think we've seen some of the benefits of the 50 State Plan during this primary with the record turnout numbers. 1. It will get very ugly, and seeing as this benefits Clinton more than Obama, we'll all know who is responsible.

2. For all the whining from Clinton about how the media is unfair to her, it does allow to continually frame the debate. Pennsylvania is not the next important contest. Wyoming is, and Mississippi after that. The reason she is so far behind is because her campaign failed to recognize the smaller states count, too.

3. The Michigan "compromise" sounds workable, but I am concerned about the message this sends to other states. I'm in Virginia, and like 47 other states we followed the scheduling rules. Seeing as its looking more and more like Michigan and Florida will get do-overs, I'm wondering why we followed the rules. Perhaps in 2012, we'll go in December, just to create a little drama, and then whine about how our voices have been disenfranchised to the point of getting our own do-over.

Florida and Michigan should either Not count or hold caucuses. Here is why:

The contests were unfair to begin with - they voted early and Hillary has a "name brand" - hers is the default, the most recognizable name.

In addition, she was the ONLY name on the ballot in Michigan, if we count that result, we may as well call her Comrade Clinton.

Hillary is on and on about how Florida and Michigan should get a say - but she has dismissed out of hand the most fair, practical and economical solution - a caucus.

A primary would be prohibitively expensive, and the state would have to pay for it, taking millions away from what? children's healthcare? (the states still pay a portion of SCHIP) Elder care? education? WHERE is the money for the primary? Oh, and by the way, Michigan is beyond BROKE already - but hey, anything for Hillary.

Yes Hillary cares deeply for the voters, so much so that she will demand that the state spend WAY more money to vote HER WAY...

THE PARTY, not the state, should pay for caucuses, which would be cheaper. The DNC created this mess, if they want to fix it - this is how...or simply enforce the rules. Michigan, Florida, and HILLARY ALL knew and agreed to the rules.

SO - Does Hillary CARE about Florida and Michigan - Well, it turns out, only so far as they vote for her and it comes out her way.

I don't hear Obama demanding caucuses. He is letting the Florida and Michigan thing decide itself and I'm sure that if they decide to vote He will do fine.

For pete's sake look up a few things. Hillary's 8 years in the senate is a joke. She only sponsored 2 pieces of legislation that made it to the president's desk and that was to set up a historical site and name a fricken post office. By your standards any first lady who had a prior law career would qualify as president.

You want to know the type of president Hillary would be? Just look at how she has handled the Florida/Michigan issue. She agreed to the rules that DNC made concerning these states for moving their primaries. Now...after the fact, she wants the rules changed because it would benefit her. ANY fair minded person can see this is wrong. A revote? Absoloutly. But that is now what she wants. She wants the delegates seated as is. Even though Obama (nor any other democrat candidate) was not even on the Michigan ballot. Yea...real fair.

To contrast, Obama has agreed to abide by whatever rules are in place. With the super delegates, the rules hurt him, but you don't see him saying they should be changed. He has said that Hillary has every right to lobby the super delegates to switch to her...even though he thinks they should stick with the person with the most pledged delegates (him). Point being he is not trying to change the rules to say they MUST stay with the candidate with the most pledged delegates. You can bet if the roles were reversed Hillary would be threatening lawsuits if the delegates switched.

This is how she would rule the country. Right and wrong to her are whatever best suites her needs at the present time. I have voted democrat every year since 1976. If this bitch wins, I will vote for McCain.

Finally, someone is saying the same thing I've been saying all along. Hillary has "no experience" as President. She was the First Lady. If she wants to say that she has "experience," thus insinuating "presidential experience," then she can not run, according to the Constitution. For those who assume she's talking about her Senatorial experience, then let's not forget Senator Obama's tenure, not only in the Federal Government, but also his State Government. Wake up people. She's pulling the wool over your eyes!!! What type of government do you want: a monarchy or a Republic Democracy? And yes I know a monarchy has one family in charge, however, look at our past history. We've gone from Bush-Clinton-Clinton-Bush-Bush; do you really want to go another 8 with Clinton? I am not sure why the choice for Obama is too fight dirty like Clinton or be above it all. I think he can draw distinctions and still run the campaign we all believe in. From my point of view, the essential difference in this campaign is:

-- John McCain is an advocate for a third Bush term

-- Hillary Clinton is an advocate for a third Clinton term

-- While Barrack Obama is an advocate for change -- a new politics that seeks to go beyond the divisions of the 90s and address the critical challenges of the times.

I cant imagine the majority of the people in this country would opt to go back in time (after all the Clinton and Bush administrations did not solve the critical issues of our time) instead of going forward (even if there is some risk in that).

Chuck NY - CNN took on the issue of Hillary's experience last night - showing her talking about each issue and then having the people who were publicly involved responding. Guess what, to my surprise, CNN reported that YES - Hillary was intricatly involved - sitting down at meetings with both sides of the Irish conflict in negotiations, hitting China in China re Human Rights, especially the treatment of women, etc. etc. CNN is not especially a Hillary fan - and I was surprised they were unslanted on these issues. As for those bringing up Whitewater, and Travelgate, and on and on and on, (old old news)you must be republicans because you are the only ones who, after millions of dollars were spent in trying to bring Clinton down, could only come up with a blue dress from a trashy bimbo who was probably a plant by the Republicans - her mother told her to keep the dress????????????? and still can't get over it. As I say - Clinton lied and no one died - Bush lied and thousands died! As for Obama staying "above the fray" give me a break! Long ago he was complaining about the Clinton Machine - about The Clintons - (I suppose her family should not help her) about "remarks with code words"?!?!?!?!? Whiner. I like that idea...I will have to keep that in mind. It does seem to send the message that its HRC's tactics (well, the Clinton machinery) that I am really railing against and a Democratic legislature with McCain might not be so bad.

My one caveat would be the judicial branch (McCain appointing judges), that is a reason to keep hoping somehow someway the Dems can pull off the Presidential election.

I don't see how the Democratic Party could ever unite around Hillary Clinton. Her campaign will divide the party and it will lose the majority of African- American votes. I'm no political analyst, and far be it from me to tell anyone who to vote for (I'm registered independant). The only thing that stands out in my mind from the Clinton era is the less than misleading answers from then president Clinton in the whole Lewinsky scandal. I am not surprised the DNC is starving for money. I, for one has turned down those requests from the DNC for donations attaching my response that they will not get a penny from me until they stand up to the Clinton machine and show fairness and respect to Senator Obama. The DNC's response has been very soft to the divisive and disrespectful treatment of Obama by the Clintons in South Carolina, closing caucus doors on voters in Nevada and claiming they have won Michigan when there was nobody elses name on the ballot except hers. Now she is expressing her preference of McCain over Obama on national security which is the ultimate disrespect and very bad for the party. And Dean's response is 'it will make them stronger for the general election' which is baloney. I am mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore! Get me some professional commentators, Chet, David, Walter, Smith, guys that stuck with the facts, news reporters not makers. Can anyone question that the people who make money off of reporting the election has a vested interest in continuing the election.
What really ticks me off is the news people that ask questions that make statements, a question is a question, then follow-up the answer for a clear posiiton. That rarely happens. We need a change in reporters, with a neutral position to collect facts and positions so the people can decide. The media will make a big deal out a " monster"
quote and that dominates a news cycle when unemployement hits a high, the deficit is out of control, gas prices hit $4 and barrel prices are $105. I want the candidates answers to these problems, that's the news, the other stuff belongs on E- entertainment.
Todd, tell your fellow reporters to stop being pundits and present the facts, its our job to interpet the facts based upon your reporting, if the reporting is baised......
