Once and for all, I would like to see this line completely discredited. As for the 3:00 AM call, I think the effects of this have worn off, and the attacks back against it have worked effectively.

I heard a TV pundit the other night say he always knew Senator Obama could take a punch, but could he throw one? She’s making it hard for him to stay on the high road all this time; but wouldn’t you once love to see him go off on her and put her in her place once and for all? The longer this goes on, the more we want to see her completely rejected.

Has anyone sat down with her to go over an exit strategy? If all of this comes crashing down, either loss of nomination or the general election, what will she have left? She will be an outcast in the Senate, and her effectiveness will be diminished to the point of non-existence. I don’t know if she has thought out the rest of her life, but on her current path, it is not rosy. What say you?

Have a nice weekend everyone.
First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

Superdelegates, where are you? Are you just going to sit on the sidelines watching while your party self-destructs? You realize, don’t you, that the rest of the primary season is all for your benefit? Hillary can’t catch Barack now in delegates, although she still has a long shot at catching him in the popular vote total. But so what? Fine, say we spot her a ten point win in Pennsylvania and we redo Florida and Michigan and she wins big enough to edge Barack out in the popular vote total. What can you possibly gain in terms of additional information about the candidates and their supporters that would make it worth the cost to the party and our ultimate nominee?

The arguments from both sides will still be essentially the same. The only difference come August will be that we sent two strong gladiators into the arena for your edification and one badly wounded nominee came limping out. It’s time for you move. This is an internal party decision here. We are under no obligation whatsoever to go through with the rest of an increasingly divisive primary season with all the wasted resources it will entail. Not just wasted, but invested in attack politics that will surely come back to haunt us in November.

The argument that many voters have yet to be heard is specious, at best. This is not the general election. When the primary process goes smoothly we have no problem leaving all kinds of voters without a real say in the outcome. It’s only in the really difficult years that we have to go this deep. This is all about picking the best nominee for the race in November while trying to do as little damage as possible getting there. It’s time for you to move.

Convene your own mini-convention if you must, and have the two campaigns present their best arguments as to why each will be the best nominee for the party. Do whatever it takes to come as close to a consensus as you can, and then move in a block to make it clear to all parties that this phase of the contest is over. The last thing we want to do is listen to all the breathless media hype. They have a powerful vested interest in keeping this primary season going. Conflict is great for ratings, but it will send entirely the wrong message to the rest of the country about us and our candidates. Let’s try and do the smart thing for a change and keep our nominee in decent shape going into the campaign against John McCain. It’s all up to you now, supers. Move!
First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

What do Rhode Island, Vermont, Democrats Abroad, Hawaii, District of Columbia, Nebraska, Minnesota, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Delaware, North Dakota, Idaho and Alaska have in common with Florida?

Answer Sen. Steele Fort Lauderdale, FL

Why won’t Hillary make her tax returns public? How about the 2006 Tax Returns at least then? The answer is simple—the money is dirty. You will see Dubai and countless other unsavory contributions from some questionable foreign excursions by Fmr. Pres. Clinton. Clinton supporters, is that really ok? Do you really want the specter of foreign influences hanging over the presidency?

Hillary has the endorsements of a ton of flag officers (generals) and has claimed to have crossed some imaginary threshhold for Commander-in-Chief. For those who may not know, general or general equivalent (admiral) is the only rank that can only be achieved with the recommendation of the President and an act of Congress. Colonel is as high as you can go without the Commander-in-Chief’s endorsement. The President has to make the recommendation and then the 100 members of the Senate have to approve it in order to make general. Now use your brains and figure out under whose admistration that the majority of these generals were commissioned. Pres. Clinton called in a favor and of course these generals have no problem in standing behind the wife of the man who advanced their careers. Don’t take my word for it, look it up and see the truth for yourselves, Clinton supporters. Instead why don’t you look at the enlisted men and the retired enlisted men and ask them who they support to be the Commander-in-Chief? Barack wins that argument hands down. Go to your nearest military installation or follow the campaign contributions.

Why have Hillary’s Whitehouse records been sealed and buried? The answer here is very simple. Bill didn’t give her credit for many of the things that she is now falsely claiming and there was NO co-presidency. Sen. Clinton had NO security clearance and is misstating her record there. She has made claims of having something to do with the Irish peace process and other platitudes. Not true. Sure she has had dinner with Jerry Andrews and some of SEINFENN but her diplomatic role there is non-existent. Again, just do your research.
I welcome anyone to dispute these statements. Eventually the truth always comes to light.
First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

I wrote a longer posting down below under Knife Fight which is posted. So I won't reiterate that.

Instead I find I am at a tipping point. I am perilously close to not voting for Clinton at all at this point. All of this is the straw breaking the camel's back for me. Yes, I'm just one voter but I have been a Democrat my whole life.

What does an American have to do to vote against nastiness, and negative campaigning, and machine politics, and a divisive campaign and a candidate who will stop at nothing to win (I specifically added more on that point below).

I have always voted but this is not what I want.

I am perilously close to leaving the Democratic party as long as the Clinton's are involved.

Yes, I'm one vote, but I'm a lifelong Dem who has certainly supported the Clintons in the past. I supported Hillary as late as late January.

I truly can't take it any more.

I am not sure whether (if Hillary is the nominee) I will vote Repub., I will write in Obama or Edwards (if one can write-in), or if I will just not vote (which I really don't want to do).

How best to send the message that I won't stand for it anymore?

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

First, comparing someone to Ken Starr is insulting only to the Clintons who were his target. Calling someone a monster is, or should be, insulting to everyone. Barack Obama likes to talk about good judgement at 3AM as a cornerstone of his campaign. Hillary Clinton has already fired a handful of top advisers for much less. Their kind just throw big shadows, that's all. You didn't just have faith in Hillary or any other living man. You had faith in something bigger than that. You had plain, decent, every day, common rightness. And this country could use some of that. Yeah - so could the whole cock-eyed world. A lot of it. Remember the first day you got here? Remember what you said about Mr. Lincoln? You said he was sitting up there waiting for someone to come along. You were right! He was waiting for a man who could see his job and sail into it. That's what he was waiting for. A man who could tear into the Bush's and root 'em out into the open. I think he was waiting for you Barack. He knows you can do it. And she has led in many states UNTIL Obama enters the state and campaigns. He did not do this in Florida as the candidates - ALL CANDIDATES - AGREED that Florida would NOT COUNT! And no one campaigned there. Has there been ANY state other than Arkansas where BOTH have campaigned and SHE has won by over 20 points? I don't think so! And the PEOPLE in Florida KNEW their VOTES WOULD NOT COUNT - so many people who WOULD. HAVE VOTED DID NOT! So, there is absolutely NO WAY that counting the January vote would be fair.

Just punish these states for going against the rules by splitting the delegates 50/50 between Hillary and Obama. (or maybe cut a % of the delegates as further punishment, as the GOP did) No harm, no foul. That way these states' State Legislatures will have to explain to their constituents why they broke the rules - but, the states can be somewhat placated by having their Delegations seated in Denver. No harm, no foul on the outcome - but the States will at least be able to attend the convention.

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

If Obama has more to lose if this gets ugly, doesn't he have more to gain if it stays positive?

OH, that's right, there's no chance of this campaigning staying COMPLETELY postive because HRC was losing the whole time it was positive. What exactly does that say?

So instead she gets to get nasty but Obama has to stay above the fray...oh no, he can't stay above the fray because then he's accused of not engaging or not appearing tough.

Well, I feel that it takes both good judgment and a certain brand of political toughness to attempt to keep it positive and stay on the issues. But will that fly everywhere in America? Will it fly in enough of America?

Hillary wins by being nasty and we as a Country think that's a good thing?? That explains a lot.

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

Clinton can NOT win on her Merits, it takes more than HER "experience" (i.e. having tea with foreign leaders) to win. I, for one, believe it could be a great strategy. It did Dems well in 2006, and hopefully will continue in 2008. I think we've seen some of the benefits of the 50 State Plan during this primary with the record turnout numbers. It will get very ugly, and seeing as this benefits Clinton more than Obama, we'll all know who is responsible.

2. For all the whining from Clinton about how the media is unfair to her, it does allow to continually frame the debate. Pennsylvania is not the next important contest. Wyoming is, and Mississippi after that. The reason she is so far behind is because her campaign failed to recognize the smaller states count, too.

3. The Michigan "compromise" sounds workable, but I am concerned about the message this sends to other states. I'm in Virginia, and like 47 other states we followed the scheduling rules. Seeing as its looking more and more like Michigan and Florida will get do-overs, I'm wondering why we followed the rules. Perhaps in 2012, we'll go in December, just to create a little drama, and then whine about how our voices have been disenfranchised to the point of getting our own do-over.

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

Axelrod who took advice from the show westwing…tried to get a formula for a winning personality that was not Obamas real personality of a smoker, short-temper, arrogrant, do-anything to win attitude that is his real personality

——————————————————————————————–
"One thing I can say is, I never heard him launch into the preacher-man voice he now employs during speeches. "

read the rest at:

http://houstonpress.com/2008-02-28/news/barack-obama-screamed-at-me/1

PLEASE DO RESEARCH ON OBAMA….THE WORLD MUST KNOW THE DECIEVING PERSON HE IS!!!

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

IF YOU STAND BY YOUR IDEA THAT NORTH CAROLINA COUNTS AS MUCH AS PENNSYLVANIA, THEN IT SHOULD BE ON YOUR COUNT DOWN OF DATES

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

Florida and Michigan should either Not count or hold caucuses. Here is why:

The contests were unfair to begin with - they voted early and Hillary has a "name brand" - hers is the default, the most recognizable name.

In addition, she was the ONLY name on the ballot in Michigan, if we count that result, we may as well call her Comrade Clinton.

Hillary is on and on about how Florida and Michigan should get a say - but she has dismissed out of hand the most fair, practical and economical solution - a caucus.

A primary would be prohibitively expensive, and the state would have to pay for it, taking millions away from what? children's healthcare? (the states still pay a portion of SCHIP) Elder care? education? WHERE is the money for the primary? Oh, and by the way, Michigan is beyond BROKE already - but hey, anything for Hillary.

Yes Hillary cares deeply for the voters, so much so that she will demand that the state spend WAY more money to vote HER WAY...

THE PARTY, not the state, should pay for caucuses, which would be cheaper. The DNC created this mess, if they want to fix it - this is how...or simply enforce the rules. Michigan, Florida, and HILLARY ALL knew and agreed to the rules.

SO - Does Hillary CARE about Florida and Michigan - Well, it turns out, only so far as they vote for her and it comes out her way.

I don't hear Obama demanding caucuses. He is letting the Florida and Michigan thing decide itself and I'm sure that if they decide to vote He will do fine.

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

Feedback from Germany: Once the Clintons stood for progressive America. Clinton continues to lie like a rug, and no one in the party calls her on her lies - talks with Canada and NAFTA being the latest. The news is not that Hillary lies, it's about what is she trying to get away with this week. Then there's Obama, who is starting to get testy and mean towards Hillary. Who can blame him, she is a monster. One of these days the press is actually going to ask Obama a hard question, and that will be the end of him too. Then there's Howard "I make the rules" Dean who's rules he made up for Florida and Michigan are now being ignored, even by him. We all knew he was a spineless little twit and he goes out and proves it every day.

It's an endless soap opera for the Democrats that will be in a total meltdown by November. Tea and crumpets with half the world leaders, while his administration did the hard work? That qualifies her to be on the Oprah show, not the president. Except she admits she can't cook. Hillary Clinton, fresh off crucial wins in Tuesday's primaries, has been playing the experience card heavily, particularly in regard to her role in foreign policy.
Clinton said it's her 35 years of experience that make her the best candidate to take on presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain in November.
After losing primaries in Ohio and Texas, Sen. Barack Obama argued the media has not held Clinton's feet to the fire on foreign policy.
"Was she negotiating treaties or agreements, or was she handling crises during this period of time? My sense is the answer is no," Obama said Wednesday.
So how do Clinton's claims stack up?
In some cases, CNN found a lack of clarity on her real involvement in foreign policy affairs. But in other cases, her claims do seem to check out fairly well.
Northern Ireland
"I helped to bring peace to Northern Ireland," Clinton said on CNN's American Morning on Wednesday. Watch more of Clinton's comments on the race »
A Washington Post blogger accused Clinton in January of exaggerating her involvement in Northern Ireland.
But former Democratic Senate majority leader George Mitchell, who was a U.S. special envoy to Northern Ireland, told CNN that while Clinton was not directly involved in negotiations, she did play a helpful role in bringing in women's groups that made a difference.
Mitchell is a Democratic superdelegate and has not publicly endorsed Clinton or Obama.
Rep. Peter King, a Republican from New York, was also involved in the process. He recalls one late-night meeting with former President Bill Clinton, Sen. Clinton and Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams.
"There was a discussion of how the IRA would decommission its weapons. And I know that Sen. Clinton was part of that meeting," King said.
Kosovo
"I negotiated open borders to let fleeing refugees into safety from Kosovo," she said on CNN's American Morning.
In May of 1999, she was in Macedonia visiting refugee camps near the Kosovo border and meeting with Macedonia's president and prime minister.
Sources with knowledge of her visit say she discussed the refugees' plight with those leaders. It's not clear how much she helped since CNN reported at the time that Macedonia reopened its border to Kosovar refugees before Clinton's visit.
China
"I've been standing up against, you know, the Chinese government over women's rights and standing up for human rights in many different places," she said on CNN's American Morning.
During a 1995 visit to Beijing, at a time when her husband's administration was trying to press China on human rights, Sen. Clinton made a speech condemning abuses.
"No one should be forced to remain silent for fear of religious or political persecution, arrest, abuse or torture," she said.
But a former National Security Council official in the Clinton administration says Clinton didn't attend NSC meetings. So while her experience is extensive, she rarely carried an official portfolio.

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

If it comes to getting down and getting dirty in a trench war, Barach Obama is a definite at disadvantage. Is Hillary that important to you?

For pete's sake look up a few things. Hillary's 8 years in the senate is a joke. She only sponsored 2 pieces of legislation that made it to the president's desk and that was to set up a historical site and name a fricken post office. By your standards any first lady who had a prior law career would qualify as president.

The one thing she does have is experience at manipulating and intimidating the media and we all know the electorate is basically controlled by the media. I'm pretty frustrated that as a culture we have devolved to this level: choosing presidents based on whether or not you like their middle name.

If we take a pass on Obama and go with Hillary I will get the pleasure of posting "I told you so" here every day for the next 4 years.

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

Hillary is more than willing to drag Obama into the mud. The Clinton Slime machine started all this crap because she was getting beat. The only defense she has is false statements that some will believe. If she had any character at all she would not have stooped so low as to start the kitchen sink crap. Obama did come back at her, he had to, and it was planned that way by the Clinton Slime machine because she can't stand side by side with him as a person, she has no credibility as a person, her time in the whitehouse as a "first something" proved that. When this race started she pranced around like she was the only person on this earth that had experience, well that proved false as she is behind as she should be. So she went nasty with Obama, not realizing that many votes FOR Obama were really votes AGAINST her. Ergo, even if Obama wasn't running, lots of Americans don't like Hillary, and if she tricks her way into the nomination, they may even end up voting FOR McCain as a protest vote AGAINST Hillary. I still can't imagine a nasty Hillary versus a nasty McCain in the fall season, but with her baggage, this nasty Obama-Clinton tussle could pale in comparison to a McCain-Clinton tussle.

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

Barack is asking legitimate questions of Hillary's experience and financial dealings, and the best comeback she has is calling him Ken Starr? Really, Hillary, that's pathetic.
First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

I'll send Howard Dean and the DNC some money tonight. I didn't know they were down with the bucks. Fighting back isn't the same as standing there and taking in the mistaken hope that it will go away. One can hope she stops, but realistically, fighting back is as American as it gets. When we came here, it was hope that founded a new country. Isn't that what we're doing now? Trying to make a 'new country'? To throw off the tyranny of a controlling yoke of oppression? Isn't 7 years + of this administration cause enough to hope? The fact is, if you go into a fight expecting to walk away unscathed, you're probably going to lose. Take the hits, and return them ten fold. Bullies tend to run when they start taking hits. And there is no doubt about who the bully is.

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

I don't see how the Democratic Party could ever unite around Hillary Clinton. Her campaign will divide the party and it will lose the majority of African- American votes. I am just sick over how negative her campaign has become. Why is that politics have to be so damn negative? I just don't like it nor do I understand it. And the media just loves it. They will run a story all day long and beat it until there is new story to run with. Hillary Clinton IS a monster and I hope she wins so the world will see that she IS NOT qualified to be president. The only thing she is qualified for is being the most dishonest, fake, and polarizing politician I have ever seen. And one last thing...when the founder of BET made those negative remarks about Obama, Hillary never apoligized and seperated herself from those remarks. She just sat there and took it all in, because she was trying to brand Obama as just another black guy trying to become the president. When the conservative radio talk show host made negative remarks about Obama, McCain wasted no time in seperating himself from such lies. McCain has my vote if Hillary wins the nomination!

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

With all this money being spent on these primaries not to mention the general election. You guys are better than most but why can't it be told on air? Like Bush's cocaine use quickly passed over and swept under the carpet in '00, why are all the legal scandals still surrounding the Clintons not given airtime without Obama having to point them out? He's trying to talk about a bright new future - listening to the Kennedy endorsement almost brought me to tears - a united country, a country solving its problems, a country rejoining the global community. Why does he have to waste time "responding" to Clinton's distortions, lies, and underhanded attempts to smear with innuendo? I, for one has turned down those requests from the DNC for donations attaching my response that they will not get a penny from me until they stand up to the Clinton machine and show fairness and respect to Senator Obama. The DNC's response has been very soft to the divisive and disrespectful treatment of Obama by the Clintons in South Carolina, closing caucus doors on voters in Nevada and claiming they have won Michigan when there was nobody elses name on the ballot except hers. Now she is expressing her preference of McCain over Obama on national security which is the ultimate disrespect and very bad for the party. And Dean's response is 'it will make them stronger for the general election' which is baloney. There are many people like me who are witholding their support for the DNC and will not vote for Hillary under no circumstance after the inept response of the DNC to Clinton's diregard to the proper conduct of campaigning.

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

This is all so rediculously pathetic. When the campaigning first started, I thought it wouldn't matter to me who won the nomination. I would vote for either. Now, after seeing the depts that Clinton will stoop to, there is no way I would vote for her and I would not vote for a ticket with her as vp. I can't vote republican but I can write in a vote for Obama or vote for Nader if clinton gets the nomination. I'm sick of all of the lies and down right filthy tactics of the clintons. There is no way I would trust someone of her unscrupulous nature. Until recently, I really didn't know how much of a snake she really is. With all of the things she has been involved in. pending trials, other folks going to jail but she gets off scot free, etc. etc. etc. And a word to the MSM, do your freaking job. For once report the truth not what you think will sell.

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

I am mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore! Get me some professional commentators, Chet, David, Walter, Smith, guys that stuck with the facts, news reporters not makers. Can anyone question that the people who make money off of reporting the election has a vested interest in continuing the election.
What really ticks me off is the news people that ask questions that make statements, a question is a question, then follow-up the answer for a clear posiiton. That rarely happens. We need a change in reporters, with a neutral position to collect facts and positions so the people can decide. The media will make a big deal out a " monster"
quote and that dominates a news cycle when unemployement hits a high, the deficit is out of control, gas prices hit $4 and barrel prices are $105. I want the candidates answers to these problems, that's the news, the other stuff belongs on E- entertainment.
Todd, tell your fellow reporters to stop being pundits and present the facts, its our job to interpet the facts based upon your reporting, if the reporting is baised......
First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

Senator Clinton is now hinting at a Clinton/Obama ticket in Mississippi - does she actually think the voters who live there will buy her disingenuous political talk?

She is hoping to get their votes by selling the idea that somehow they can vote for both of them by voting for her, even though she has absolutely no intention of having him as a VP if she is awarded the nomination.

Mississippians, take note - she is speaking kindly of Obama because she knows she is on Obama-friendly turf. Goodness knows, she hasn't done that anywhere else this week. Don't fall for her lies. I know you won't!

First thoughts: How ugly can it get?

Hillary is all about 'just' Hillary and she continues to show her true colors every day now with her ugliness, rants, propagating misinformation and her staffers unprofessionalism. Is Wolfsen taking lessons from Rove? I don't believe anything goes out the door without Hillary's stamp of approval. She is behind these comments such as the Ken Starr and Canadian NAFTA issue, her statements about McCain and her readiness, etc. and the list continues. Barack needs to fire back but in the professional, educated and factual way that he has become known for. Don't let her bring you down into the bowels where she resides.

Obama O-Eight
