Barack Obama, for calling Sen. Hillary Clinton a “monster,” the Clinton team may also have tripped themselves up.

During a conference call with reporters, Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson tried to explain his Thursday accusation that Obama’s campaign was using Ken Starr-like tactics against the New York senator was not comparable to Powers’ comments.

“Ours was a reaction to the Obama campaign’s attacks on Sen. Clinton post their losses in Ohio and Texas,” Wolfson said. “I did not refer, I did not say, that Sen. Obama was like Ken Starr and I think there is a difference between engaging in the kind of ad hominem personal attack on someone’s character that Samantha Power did and talking about the kind of campaign that Team Obama has been running since Ohio and Texas.”

But here is what Wolfson told reporters on the conference call yesterday:

"I for one do not believe that imitating Ken Starr is the way to win a Democratic primary election for president," Wolfson said

Wolfson’s comments have revealed an interesting strategy by the Clinton campaign to try to use him to criticize Obama without the candidate having to accept any responsibility for his words. For example, when Clinton was asked yesterday about Wolfson’s use of Starr to characterize her rival’s campaign, she succinctly said: “I’m not going to respond to that.”

Those FL and MI superdelegates

This First Read post isn't clear. Are the supers only relevant if the FL/MI elected delegates are seated? Are you operating on the assumption that a do over would have some affect on these supers support?

Clarify, please!

Those FL and MI superdelegates

Boy is Larry David hitting the right note or what? Makes me wonder-if Obama cannot even win support from so called liberals how is going to win the general election? He failed to win a single big state bar his home state of IL. Its true that he has energized a large (very liberal and visible especially on internet) democratic base but is that enough to win the gen election-guess not. And so far I have only factored in his backgound as a criteria for his viability.many more questions are yet to asked. If you have watched any of the debates,I dont think you needed Saturday Night live to tell us that media has given Obama a soft gloved treatment so far compared to what Clinton had to go through. And I am not even talking about the obviously biased MSNBC here. Real scrutiny is inevitable and looks like he is having a hard time handling it. If you think Clintons 3 AM ad is negative “you havent seen nothing yet" and wait till he get the nomination and see what republicans will do to him.
Even I hope that America has changed enough to see him in the white house but the answer so far has been NO NOT YET. We need Florida and Michigan to save us from our mistake.

Those FL and MI superdelegates

i think there should be a re-do in FL and MI as well. From what I hear, Gov. Crist of FL would not accept a bill that would have kept the FL primary on or after Super Tuesday. So in other words, he would veto any bill that didnt push the FL Primary before Super Tuesday, thus breaking DNC rules. I do no think the voters of these two states should be ignored especially considering they will be high on the Democrats list for winning the election in November. Re-do the primaries and see what happens then.

Those FL and MI superdelegates

So - Obama "won" Texas because of the undemocratic caucus that disenfranchises young parents, the elderly, shift workers, etc.
Caucuses accommodate college students quite well.

Hillary won the popular vote.
So - apparently, Obama is focusing on delegates won.
Florida 2000 - all over again.

Those FL and MI superdelegates

I tried to post this before, but apparently it didn't work. I copied and pasted this from the Burnt Orange Report out of Texas. It shows that Senator Obama has a real chance of winning Texas in November. Senator Clinton also has an outside possibility. If we can keep this race halfway civil, Senator Obama could win an overwhelming mandate. Texas!!!

Here is the story from the Burnt Orange Report:

Democrats Can Win Texas: 34 Electoral Votes in Play
by: Karl-Thomas Musselman
Thu Mar 06, 2008 at 07:24 PM CST

Survey USA has just completed massive nationwide, state-by-state polling of match-ups in the presidential race. But, to accuse the Clinton's of trying to change the game mid-way is unfair seeing as Obama made a national ad buy and ran ads for more than a week in Florida before the Primary. Start with the DNC, they made the decision to not allow Florida to set their own date. The state legislature is solid red state republican. THe Democrats tried to amend the legislation, it was voted dowm, they pleaded to have it rejected, but the solid red state republicans refused and passed the legislation. THe RNC punished them by reducing their delegates 50% of their total. The Democrats of Florida, who had no control over the election date, lost all their delegates. The DNC has no right to punish the Florida voters. The Obama supporters should be ashamed, this is America, not Kenya, Florida votes should count, even if we have to have a new election. Michigan did not have this proplem and did disregard the rules, but if we Democrats really want to lose the election in the fall, we will not seat any delegates from Michigan and give the state to McCain. Obama supporters constantly harp that Hillary will destroy the Democratic party if we fail to elect her, but they would give the general election to the Republians just to have Obama the nominee. That is sad!

Those FL and MI superdelegates

MSNBC has odviously made a deal with the Clinton campaign for White House access in a Clinton win. MSNBC is George Bushe's FOX. Shuters and Mathews were used as tools to support a Hillary victim campaign.

For once just be honest...Let the people know GE has already been paid for allowing Obama supporter to tune into CNN for real coverage!

Keith, you are with the wrong network!

Those FL and MI superdelegates

Kim in Pasadena,

Your first post brought a tear to my eye. That's the spirit! Keep on fighting for what's right, people! We'll win with our faith, hope, and passion, by taking the high road, and by playing smart and fair.

Thanks for such a lovely, well-articulated post, Kim. I really appreciated reading that!

Those FL and MI superdelegates

Camps are talking of not dis-enfranchising Florida and Michigan voters. But in the same note when the math doesn't add up to total delegates required for nomination - these camps are trying to forget the pledged delegates and court super-delegates. Is this not dis-enfranchinsing the entire law-abiding country. In each case, the candidate with the most pledged delegates going into the convention won the nomination. Each then went on to lose the general election. Clinton backers point to the Reagan model. Governor Reagan stayed in the fight all the way to the convention. He had a hundred delegates fewer than Ford, roughly the same deficit Clinton has today.
