The State parties there knew the consequences yet their choice was to continue. The Florida story about it was a republican legislature and governor is simply bogus. Both state parties wanted a larger say so they could benefit from it. It cost them but they knew the rules and now want to change them. Clinton's campaign was quiet until it became obvious that they were not going to steam roll to the nomination. They thought they would have it all wrapped up and then could offer to seat the delegates because it wouldn't matter. All in all just another way that her and Bill will do anything to win, even if it means disenfranchising millions of new voters to the party who will become disillusioned with the democratic party and therefore the party will lose a huge base upon which to build.
Bottom line for the Clinton's is win at all cost and explain what the meaning of the word 'is' later after destroying what could be a new beginning for the party. Worst however is the number of so called super delegates who refuse to take a stand against them because of fear. No wonder Congress has such a poor public approval rating the members won't even stand up against these type of tactics, that is why they can't stand up against Bush regardless of his pathetic record. At least he has a backbone unlike the democratic superdelegates.

Sharpton threatens lawsuit over FL, MI

to mary from boston..do you think we should all play by the same rules?if you do then how could you possibly think that counting two states that didn't count now should count..listen to your own spin.cheating is still cheating..play fair or get out of the sandbox

Sharpton threatens lawsuit over FL, MI

I've never been a fan of Sharpton, but I do agree with him on this. I live in Michigan and did not vote because we were told our delegates would not be seated. We were also told Obama's, Edward's etc. names would not be on the ticket. There was advertising for us to vote uncommitted, but that was to protest the process. Never was it said that a vote for uncommitted was a vote for Obama or Edwards. Some people didn't vote, candidates didn't campaign, DNC banned their delegates and a high percentage of voters were uncommitted. How can anyone in their right mind call it fair to accept Hillary's demands. She is basically trying to defranchise a section of the voters and also twisting the verdict of those who voted for her in the absence of a competing candidate. A re-do is the only option. Obama did not even stay on the ballot in the Michigan primary, and relatives of mine in Florida said they neither heard nor saw anything of or about him there before the primary was voted. The wisest way to straighten this whole mess out is one of four options. One, let the DNC's decision stand, and not count the Michigan and Florida delegates. The leaders in Michigan and Florida knew the rules for their Democratic primaries. The DNC told them that they could not hold a Democratic primary before 2-2--8. Two, Have the primaries in both states completely redone at the states' expense. This would be the most fair way overall, because bothe Hillary and Obama could present their case to the Michigan and Florida voters; then have the primary. Three, split the delegates 50-50. This might be fair also, because Hillary and Obama are basically running neck and neck. Four, make the Michigan and Florida delegates all superdelegates just for this election, and let them decide on their own. Fifth, apportion the Michigan and Florida delegates according to the current nationwide total popular vote in all primaries that have already been held. Hillary won big in Michigan because Obama took his name off the Michigan ballot. She won big in Florida because Obama did not make much contact in any way with the people there, according to my relatives who live there. I personally think Hillary will not want to do any of these five, and instead try to get the Michigan and Florida primary results as they stand as of now. She knows this is the only hope she has of possibly catching up with or getting ahead of Obama.

Sharpton threatens lawsuit over FL, MI

Mary, Boston MA.

I live in FL. I have news for you. The TV I receive is Cable. It is not a FL only station. So if Obama ads ran on TV it was from the national media

With regards to Hillary campaigning here in FL. Again you in Boston, and I am originally from that area, have it wrong again.

Hillary DID campaign here in FL on the Sunday prior to the primary at the Lucky Strike Lanes on South Beach.

She was in addition standing outside the lanes holding a sign that stated in part "We want a president that can keep a promise."

Please if you are going to report on campaigning here in FL get your facts straight.

I do not pretend to discuss campaign issues as pertains to MA as it has been a few years since I lived there.

However I do agree that Sharpton should stay out of it and the DNC should abide by the rules that were originally set down.

However I will say as an Independent I would have changed my affiliation and voted but that would have been an exercise in futility since our votes would not be counted. We did have a very important Amendment that was on the ballot. And yes I voted on that because it COUNTED.

Sharpton threatens lawsuit over FL, MI

Wow some one let that dog Al off his leash. You go for it Al it is a good big bone for you to chew!

Sharpton threatens lawsuit over FL, MI

Patrck C. Hillary is a monster fighter for americans, she is a bitch doer for the americans and she is the champion of change and most of all she is woman with iron fist. We don't need nice words and good speeches to fight the terrorist. We don't need someone inexpirience and need to be trained in the white house and to call a meeting first before he will answer the phone at 3:00 am. Hillary can handle the huge problems that she will inherits from the Bush failed administration.Only Hillary can turn around this country into a great country again. The votes and delegates must be awarded/seated as is. Both candidates were on the ballot and both obeyed the rules by not campaigning there. Therefore, both were on the playing field/ in the game under the same rules. Howard Dean (an Obama supporter) says this wouldn't be fair because it would be a disadvantage for Obama since Clinton had name recognition. Floridian's are not that politically inept as to not have known who Obama was. There had already been many televised Democratic debates and Obama had already won states prior to Florida's Primary. Florida's Primary must be awarded, as is, instead of costing millions to redo a Primary where both candidates were on the ballot and obeyed the rules. To appease DNC/Howard Dean's mind set, Michigan should revote as a caucus instead of a Primary because in caucuses, Clinton has the disadvantage as uncontestably proven by the Texas 2 step. Clinton's base of working middle class and seniors are limited by the two hour framework of a caucus. This solution would ensure all the voters' voices of both states be heard, wouldn't cost outrageous millions, and would be a fair balance for both candidates. If DNC/Dean still states this wouldn't be fair to Obama, then let's revote every prior caucus as a Primary to be fair to Clinton. The only other fair solution, would be to revote both states as Primaries--but no one wants to pick up the cost. Mail-in ballots is unacceptable, unfair, because seniors are vulnerable to the kind of fraud that can take place through the mail--which unfairly disadvantages Clinton since one of her core bases is seniors. The Florida democratic legislature failed us. The early voting bill was introduced not by a republican but a DEMOCRAT. The bill was tacked on by additional language to prevent voting fraud i.e. paper trail. I'm not sure how much fraud can be combatted by holding a primary on January 29th and not February 5th...seven calendar days. No one expected Obama to make it this far. Many of the democrats thought Hillary had the nomination wrapped up before a vote was cast in the primary season. Now that Obama has given her a run for her money, look at the mess the democratic party is in. Don't blame Al Sharpton for speaking logical truth. Florida and Michigan broke the rules so WE (I say we because I'm a Floridian and understand the facts before I post misinformed blogs) should suffer the consequences. The candidates all knew that Florida and Michigan would not count. Obama has not complained about this problem, only Hillary is voicing her complaint with the spin that she cares about our votes being counted. She's clearly losing and will do ANYTHING (as she stated in the last debate) to win. Don't be bamboozeled, Hillary doesn't care about the democrats, she cares about winning by any means necessary. Even if it means tearing the democratic party apart by staying in a race that she can not win legitimately. The people have spoken and they have clearly chosen Obama over Clinton. Would Hillary care about Florida and Michigan votes if she was winning? We all know the answer.

Sharpton threatens lawsuit over FL, MI

There is no argument here. However; the votes were cast and in a primary/caucas authorized and duely run by the governing authority and powers of the Great States of the Florida and Mighigan governments. Those said governments, which by my reckoning overrides the DNC and have the constitutional duty and responsiblity to properly govern the elections by the people of any type. The DNC should have went to court before declaring the votes don't count. Maybe someone here needs to go to jail for election tampering or something more serious along those lines. The DNC has no governing authority over the States of theses United States that I know of. The votes have to count as is regardless of those whom did not vote. The DNC is not the final governing autority of elections these States are. Al Sharpton needs to sue the DNC for tampering with the election process as controlled by the states because somehow those original votes are going to have to count as is. Sorry AL, the People need to vote according to their State governments and not the DNC or any other organization whom claims power over the government election laws and processes which can be changed at their will of government enacted powers and exercising them as they have chosen.

Sharpton threatens lawsuit over FL, MI

Al Sharpton has a dog in the fight.
