Suppose you had to choose between two Presidential candidates, one of whom had spent 20 years in Congress plus had considerable other relevant experience and the other of whom had about half a dozen years in the Illinois state legislature and 2 years in Congress. Which one do you think would make a better President? If you chose #1, congratulations, you picked James Buchanan over Abraham Lincoln. Your pick disagrees with that of most historians, who see Lincoln as the greatest President ever and Buchanan as the second worst ever, better only than Warren "Teapot Dome" Harding. Both served in what was probably the most difficult period in American history, where slavery and secession tore the nation asunder.

Obama 08

Hillary on the attack in PA

Clinton better be careful, NAFTAgate's not done and in spite of denials she's still implicated.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/reportsfromabroad/macdonald/20080310.html

Hillary on the attack in PA

Great, another 6 weeks of attacks from a candidate who has no chance of winning the Democratic primary. The conversation turned to the pledges to renegotiate the North American free-trade agreement made by the two Democratic contenders, Mr. Obama and New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

“Mr. Brodie, apparently seeking to play down the potential impact on Canada, told the reporters the threat was not serious, and that someone from Ms. Clinton's campaign had even contacted Canadian diplomats to tell them not to worry because the NAFTA threats were mostly political posturing. The Canadian Press cited an unnamed source last night as saying that several people overheard the remark.

“The news agency quoted that source as saying that Mr. Brodie said that someone from Ms. Clinton's campaign called and was ‘telling the embassy to take it with a grain of salt.’
Hillary on the attack in PA

"That's going to require, first and foremost, a new president in the White House"

Uhhh, that is a given --- as far as I know.

Hillary on the attack in PA

You know, the sad thing is that someone had to resign over stating the completely obvious fact that Hillary Rodham Clinton is a monster.

Way to take one for the team Powers!

Hillary on the attack in PA

NO YOU CAN'T!! Hillary Clinton was not a senator for that much longer than Obama. What major decisions did you make for the country while sleeping in the white house? What major cabinet meetings did you attend? I dont know about you but I dont wasnt some cry baby.....that thinks having to answer questions first in a debate is unfair and too much pressure.....give me a break the president is the first to answer the biggest questions facing our nation and if you cant handle a debate what makes you think you can handle that....Hillary says give Obama a pillow....I say give Clinton a pacifier.

Hillary on the attack in PA

Tim in Albany NY: Neither will have the 2025...that is why this continues an in the end the Super-delegates will have a chance to cast their votes...it is then...and only then that this will be settled. And by both sides I mean the polled supporters of each candidate.

By doing that myself, I see a couple of things. People believe that Hillary is more experienced and has more detailed ideas about how to get us back on track as a nation. Barack scores higher on reaching across the aisle and bringing people together. Which sounds to me like Hilary should be in the lead setting policy and Barack should be the Vice President who goes out using all that natural charm to try and win support for Hillary's policies. Hillary is certainly not suited to winning people over. Barack has no policy ideas.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

Hillary on the attack in PA

Oh by the way, the Clinton Campaign did do the ol' wink, wink as Hillary put it. Your pick disagrees with that of most historians, who see Lincoln as the greatest President ever and Buchanan as the second worst ever, better only than Warren "Teapot Dome" Harding. CNN was making some proyections of the primaries left and it looks that both candidates will no have the 2025 pledge delegates locked in before the convention in Denver. And because the margin of difference will be very narrow the rug could be pull under Senator Obama in favor of Senator Clinton. But since Senator Obama has been able to bring independent voters, new generation of voters, and counts with a massive chunck of the populus vote, then I advance the premise that Senator Obama could well run as an independent candidate with the right VP as a running mate...but of course, NO Hillary on the ticket. The thought of women in power is bringing out the worse in the media – they are making up the news instead of reporting what is really going on. That Patty and John Doe must be grossly misinformed. Time is on Obama's side. If he stays no worse than 10 points behind or even less in Pennsylvania if he loses there, and in any other primary that is left which he loses, he will suffer little ior no loss of his lead. Evan a 55% to 45% Clinton win in Pennsylvania means that Obama will pick up about 71 delegates to Hillary getting 87, or an 11 delegate reduction in his lead; and North Carolina, with its large African American population looms. If Florida and Michigan get some kind of redos, now, there is no assurance that Hillary can win them in a big way or even at all if Obama campaigns in both, and is on the ballot in both. Michigan too has a large African-American population. Hillary needs to keep quiet about making Obama her VP. He's still winning, and no matter how much Clinton argues, he will have the lead in total delegates and the popular vote when the convention comes.

Hillary on the attack in PA

How can people say that Obama has acheieved things in the Senate when only ONE, that's right ONE bill that he sponsored or co-sposored actually made it into law. While in the same time Hillary was able to get 20 of her bills passed into law.

Now THAT is getting things done. There is more to politics than getting people to like you. There is getting things done.

I want someone who will get things done!!

Hillary on the attack in PA

PLEASE! Say what you think people want to hear to get into office and then you can do what you like. I have weighed Hillary against Obama, and being a "white" American from South Carolina that voted for him, I can assure you that he is not only getting as you so ugly put it, "the black" vote. He is getting the intelligent votes of people that remember the Clinton's and who they really are. How dare anyone insult any race of voter in any state. This is still suppose to be America isn't it? Leave it to the Clinton's to play the race card. I would vote for Obama over Hillary if he was white, black, American Indian, female or male. Years in Washington doesn't give Hillary more understanding of the people, only a more understanding of how politics works to get what you want, not what is best for the country and what the people want. I believe Obama's record on issues can be trusted more with regards to what we have seen from Hillary as first lady, which I do not honor in capitizing, when it concerns her.

Hillary on the attack in PA

Hmm Obamas insite and rational and what the heck are all you people talking about... I can't remember another race that has created such a stir. I would probably vote for Obama because I think he honestly presents the best chance for change. Although he apparently has less experience (which I don't get since he's been a senator longer than Clinton) this is really not an issure since he will have advisors to help him. It may actually be better since he will be more likely to quetions the way things are done and not just go with the flow. As for Clinton, I actually find her a little arrogant. Why would someone in second place offer the vice presidency to the candidate running in first? Apparently she has already won but the rest of us just don't know it yet. I'll vote for Obama if he wins but Hillary is my first choice. However, I would like both the candidates and the fans that back them to start this final part of the campaign by getting into other areas of concern. Why not more education plans? Why not a plan to help Americans except that they are the reason and the problem in the waste of money and human lives in the drug issues. We are near the point of no return when it comes to the number of numbed Americans at all educational and financial worth. Why is that? And why is it so few Americans can admit it and change it? What about the issues of a crumbling infrastructure that are never addressed except in a flash report following another bridge failure. Why do we Americans need to waste money on so many individual pleasures and can't even pay for national health care, or public parks, or decent streets? Why can we afford all we have yet can't afford to help countries who are looking to Venezuela for help and we have nearly lost any influence in South American because of our neglect? Do we only face more of the same speeches and the same negative comments from fans about the each of the candidates who both could serve the country well? Why not spend our energy calling them to task for not sticking to issues that will matter for generations to come? That is what the Democratic voters should be doing instead of so much negative and useless rejection of each other's obviously strong support for one or the other candidate. How about attacking John McCain?

Hillary on the attack in PA

Old people like Fererro is the number one reason why their is hate in this world. Well, it fits the mentality of some of them. Strange that he, a man who I respect and am drawn to for his message, has attracted so many people who are very far from his message. If he looses it will not mean that someone did him in. And if he wins and looses the presidential race, who's fault is that? Get a grip! That is very refreshing. I'm for Hillary. I don't support all she says or does. I couldn't say that about any candidate in my 43 voting years. I really question the type of rabid reactions I read in these blogs. You know, these candidates are people, they are flawed and weak and just as wrong on some issues as anyone. Have that many people really lost perspective on all this? I won't vote for John McCain and can't understand why any Democrat would ever do so. I also can't underestand how any Democrat could just give up because their choice is not the one that wins. None of that makes sense. We are voting for leadership and party influence in the future of the country, not for King or Queen, and not for American Idol. Vote Democrat and cool down the passion a few notches.

Hillary on the attack in PA

John Doe,

Go to sleep!! Old tired rhetoric is getting the best of you..

Sleep child, sleep!!!

Hillary on the attack in PA

3/11/08...If Hillary keeps taking aim at Obama's friend, Tony Rezko, then Obama needs to bring up Hillary's relationship with scam/con-artist Norman Hsu, the one who donated close to a million dollars to her campaign

Hillary on the attack in PA

J. I will elaborate using specific quotes. Clinton supporters use facts; e.g
"Both the Clinton campaign and the Canadian government, deny that a representative from the Clinton campaign met with any representative from Canada."
Obama supporters use derogatory terms: e.g
"embittered women" (?!!!!) or "biaaaaatch. Fire me." (?!?!?!?!?!?!)
Should I assume that Obama supporters have the intellectual maturity of 10th graders? For the record, I'm 18, and black.

Clinton's message seems pretty reasonable to me. Do not waste years and energy trying to change the system, because 8 years are not enough to do it. Instead, use the time available wisely to make necessary changes by using power through the system. It's time to stop the anarchist slogans and actually use our system to correct problems. It worked in the Civil Rights Era, did it not.

Hillary on the attack in PA

Tracy . To think that a former first lady could stoop this low; finding nothing, but faults in her opponent of same party goes to prove the point that she is more interested in making name as the first female american president than the solution she seems to be talking about. If you are Hillary's supporter, pause to think how much you have become a negative person in your speech. Well, don't be fooled, all that glitter is not gold-Only God has the solution to man's problem and not experience. Hillary is only human, who seems to have confidence in her abilties than in the ability of a divine power summed up in the word "HOPE"

Hillary on the attack in PA

I've read, re-read and re-read some more and I have yet to see this "experience" Senator Clinton so cheerfully alludes to? Actually, now that I think about it a little more indepth, perhaps she does have some experience:

*She has experience supporting NAFTA. Which appears to have done more harm than good...for the US anyway (check)

*She has experience in dealing with and being a part of political turmoil and scandal (check)

*She has experience on basically giving G.W. Bush the same authorization to lay the foundation for pre-emptive military tactics against Iran that he did with Iraq (check)

*She has experience in being DIVISE (just for the heck of it sometimes) towards those who she now has to HOPE will work with her, so that she will have an EFFECTIVE presidency, IF she is to one day become President (a.k.a. the Republicans) (check)

*She has experience in initiating a piece of legistlation (a.k.a. the bankruptcy bill), that she HOPED would not pass. Which, in itself is bizarre! WHO DOES THAT? Who becomes a part of something intially, that they would like to see fail, eventually??? Anyway... (check)

*She has experience in mismanaging her own campaign and it's finances, so she had to contribute $5 million to said campaign because she assumed, "this would all be over by Feb 5th" (check)....

*...Which brings me to another point...she has experience in arrogance and making hasty and naive assumptions (check)...

*...Which also brings me to another point, she has experience in NOT being able to use her experience as a tool to show QUALITY JUDGEMENT when it matters most. Which is what the purpose of having experience should afford anyone possessing it or claiming to possess it.

*She has experience in helping to send our fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters off to fight a war that was based on a COMPLETE LIE, has been mishandled, has cost thousands of lives (and counting...), has cost BILLIONS of dollars (and counting) (DOUBLE CHECK)

So, wow, how foolish of me (or anyone for that matter) to "overlook" her experience and be willing to vote for someone that SUPPOSEDLY has less! What was I thinking?

*Ok people, sarcasm aside (however those things are TRUE), we all have to keep in mind that there must be something to SHOW for the experience one possess. Having just YEARS of experience behind you is nothing and means nothing. There is such thing/person as an "old fool". A person's (or this case a candidates) JUDGEMENT is what is important. No President, unless he or she was Vice President previously, has had "experience" being the President until they BECAME THE PRESIDENT. No one is "groomed" to be President one day. There are more people on the other side of all these computer screens that know just as much as "Congressman/woman so-and-so" about what goes on in Washington, the economy, foreign policy, etc...than some of those currently in office! But a very, very slim portion of them/us hold any type of government office. So please people, think "judgement" not just "experience". When that phone rings at 3 a.m. that Senator Clinton claims she will be prepared to answer, I want to know that her JUDGEMENT is sound about what to with the information surrounding that call. I know she has the experience to "answer it"! Well all can "answer it"! We all have "experience" doing that, but how many of us would have the sound judgement to know what to do next regarding that call? I, for one, am not too impressed with her past judgement. If you don't agree, please re-read the above bullets.

Good Night all -
Obama 08'

Hillary on the attack in PA

I think Hillary is still in the race because there is some hoodwinking going on behind the scene. Especially when they keep getting brought up such as this excerpt here by The New York Times the other day.

"Determined to be viewed as substantive, Mr. Obama kept his head down, declining Sunday talk show invitations for his first year, and consulted Senate elders for advice. He was cautious — even on the Iraq war, which he had opposed as a Senate candidate, he voted against the withdrawal of troops. He proposed a drawdown only after he was running for president and polls showed voters favoring it."

I suppose all these comments may be coming from people who may be completely unaware of the amount of money Obama has been taking from the Big Pharmaceutical co's as well.

See, really, we know almost absolutely nothing about Obama yet. Hilary may have faults as well but at least we know what they are. If Hillary loses the election the republicans will get the win and their 100 year war continuted..Is that what u really want people? The people that voted for Hillary are not going to vote for Obama...enough said!!! If they don't combine this election somehow-someway the democrats are doomed.. If Obama can't see "that" he's got blinders on. He hasn't got enough votes to take the election, and neither does Hillary. That is exactly what the GOP is hoping for, they're elated to see this split in the DEM party. Wake up everyone this primary needs 2 great people running together and we definitely need to get back to the balanced budget and we can't handle another 4 years of NAFTA. The GOP is elated to have NAFTA stay as it is, because Bill Clinton put it into action and they can use it against the DEM's forever unchecked. Hillary and Bill have a plan to fix it the way it was supposed to be, or correct it. Let them fix our budget back(it may be impossible) the way it was before BUSHIE wrecked it. They (and I do mean the team of Hillary and Bill) and Obama will accomplish many things in the next 8 years, let's give them the privilage and let's give it to ourselves.
Do you realize what Bill Clintion (and Hillary) accomplished in those 8 years? Given the continuous attacks on them personally, and still they made this country better for the average working person. Bush has had none of the personal attacks, even though there are numerous things that could be attacked. Everything is squashed immediately. For we realize that attacking our own only hurts American pride and our perception abroad. We need to make a law that forbids attacking the President while in office, unless it is of National concern. The Law can be implemented if need be after his or her term has come to an end. Think about what you're doing America.

Hillary on the attack in PA

Given that Hillary already is running a Rovian campaign and she's barely made a dent in Obama on issues on which she's far more vulnerable and on which Obama maturely has kept the gloves on, how is it that some people think that McCain will somehow land more serious punches when Obama has no party restraints on his ability to hit back? And besides, Clinton already has thrown in the towel on the experience issue, so she can't really fight back on it. Obama can -- if by nothing else pointing out that he has more international and foreign policy experience than Bush did coming in.

Hillary on the attack in PA
Hillary's experience: Six years on the Wal-Mart board of directors while her husband was governor; omitted from her biography. First lady during genocide in Bosnia, 250,000 dead. First lady during genocide in Rwanda, 1,000,000 dead. First lady during Bin-Laden attacks in Middle east and Africa- inaction and inertia. First lady during Iraq sanctions debacle. First lady during Somalia invasion/humiliation. Obama abruptly stormed out of the room, saying on his way out "Come on guys, I answered like 8 questions already!"

This is a cool race, if it had been 2 different elections they would have both had my vote. But since they're running against each other, the better candidate wins: Clinton.

I liked reading about her years in college; she was a mature student who didn't riot on the streets against the Vietnam War but instead tried to find a solution within the system implemented by the Founding Fathers.
Even in her youth, she was grounded, mature and level-headed. This is what we need. We do NOT need a president who cannot bear pressure and does cocaine.

So what if he was young? Hillary was young and didn't do it. I'm young and I've never touched weed, forget about cocaine.
It's an insult to the young to excuse Obama's behavior on the pretext that "he was young."

Hillary on the attack in PA

JAPAN IS FOR OBAMA, UK IS FOR OBAMA, CHINA IS FOR OBAMA, EUROPE IS FOR OBAMA, GUESS WHO AFRICA IS SUPPORTING, OBAMA OF CAUSE, THE ARAB WORLD IS ALSO FOR OBAMA.. Barack is a very intelligent and respectable Senator and deserves to be treated as such, if you have scruples concerning the issues and/or his platforms then by all means let er rip! But to attempt to get that personal is below even a 3rd grade vernacular. Keep in mind he is still a DEM and he is also still one of best of few great minds in Washington. What we all need to do is look at (Each) candidate and determine which will do the best job. Hillary doesn't know what the truth looks like. Obama lacks much needed experience. And McCain seems to be more of the same old politics. so what we have to do is choose from these three.
I have ruled out Hillary simply because all she has really said is what she has determined the people want to hear. Obama is little sir echo simply coping what hillary says, but says his plan is different. McCain is a copy of Bush, or seems to be.
Yes there isn't much positive about those running. So I guess the real question we should be asking is which is the less of the three Evils, instead of who would be best. I will admit I have switched away from the DNC because of who is running. There is no way I could honestly vote for the Billary Team (8 years was enough) and I don't think Obama has what it takes ecause he hasn't explained what he will do (details) And that only leaves McCain. At least he has been known to work with both sides of the isle. With that comittment to work with both sides I feel he is the less of the three. I will be voting for the GOP this time around. Sorry to break the bad news but so will a lot more Dems. Because nobody realy wants more of the Billary team. And Obama can't decide what details to give on any of his positions.

Hillary on the attack in PA

How come my message never get on this site but does on CNN's site. The Senator needs to concentrate on his message and policy differences with Clinton and at the same time shows the public that Clinton still represents the past and will only serve the interest of lobbyists in Washington as usual.

Through SURROGATES, he needs to force Hillary to take a position as A NY state Senator on Spitzer scandal since he is one of Hillary's best superdelegates. If she wants him to hold on as governor, hit them as hyprocrites who has no repect for the rule of laws. If she asks for him to resign, connect the story to the Monica Lowensky scandal and hit them with double talk. She did wanted Bill to stay in office, right...

" While Hillary takes aim at Obama's buddy, Tony Rezko, the Obama people need to explore the dimensions of Hillary's relationship with con artist Norman Hsu, who donated almost a million dollars to her campaign, money he'd scammed from gullible investors. Obama needs to enlist the likes of Ted Kennedy and his other supporters in making the case against Hillary."

Surrogates should continue to ask a series of questions like : her taxes returns, where is the 5,000,000 come from, how is he likes Ken Starr, and what really happened to Vince foster.

" Negatives about her matter. A full frontal assault on her integrity and on Bill's conflicts of interest (remember they have joint finances) will work and will stop the bleeding in the Obama campaign.

The Clintons would like nothing better than for Obama to remain passive. " He needs not to focus on Gereldine Ferraro but remind voters how the Clintons wanted him to dismiss the adviser calling Hillary " a monster ."

He will win the nomination but he has to do the work.
By the way, Tom Daschle will be a better vice-president that Hillary.

Hillary on the attack in PA

It is unfortunate that attempting to be positive, as the Obama campaign is doing, has been disparaged as all talk. At least Hillary had the first hand exposure to the machine actually working for the people! Dont forget President Clinton took a 7 Trillion USD Deficit "which he inherited from the Republicants!" and turned it into a surplus- which made the American Dollar worth more than it was in decades.
