Okay, I'm convinced. McCain has no idea what he's talking about with respect to Iran and Iraq.

The Bush view reflects this moronic us versus them thing - the good guys versus the terrorists. McCain seems to be in this overly simplistic and wrong-headed camp.

The reality in Iraq is a web of groups and agendas, dominated primarily by the dynamic of majority Shi'ites coming to terms with power over the largest minority Sunnis. Its not the only dynamic but from half a world away, it seems to be the primary one.

Iran of course is reveling in the prospect of a Shi'ite dominated Iraq.

For McCain seemingly not to understand this also over-simplified but at least closer to correct concept is, well, just stunning.

Its as stunning as Hillary Clinton's seeming ignorance of the U.S. policy of intentional ambiguity with respect to mainland China and Taiwan.

McCain: Whoops

Its a long way to November, that's honestly all of have to say at this point...any gains by McCain now have plenty of time to fall by the way side. He has some strengths, certainly, but he has some major downside too.

Obama 08

McCain: Whoops

This is a guy who really wants to tout his foreign policy expertise???? He better study harder before he tangles with Obama.

McCain: Whoops

The deomcrats are raising the issue because this is a serious blunder. It wasn't a senior moment, it wasn't a gaffe --- he simply believes things that are not true, even after people have corrected him. It is very similar to Ronald Reagun's modus operandi when he repeatedly told those untrue anecdotes. For many people a good story is better than the truth. You just have to look at your email inbox of urban legends from your friends and family to know many people operate that way.

He will be dangerous because just like Bush and Reagan he will ignore the facts and believe whatever supports his preconceived notions and ideology in making decisions and people WILL DIE in vain in large numbers as a result.

McCain: Whoops

Hi twocanpete, I visited your blogspot. (It's going to take a long time). Soon there will be no jobs and living as we know it will become desperate... what then? Revolution! Let's not take that chance and begin to change now with Barack.

Obama O-Eight

McCain: Whoops

I have a question.....why did Michigan and Florida move up their primaries? Must have been a pretty good reason if they chose to do it even knowing the DNC would strip them of their delegates.

McCain: Whoops

In a biographic documentary I saw on CNN recently I learned more of John McCain's impressive service and horrific struggles as a POW in Vietnam. This service makes me--the son of a grievously injured former Green Beret who was briefly held as a POW, also, in Vietnam--very proud of his service to our country.

Unfortunately I also learned in the same biography that McCain finished 5th to bottom in his class at the Naval Academy and that, furthermore, he recounted how at his graduation commencement he wistfully hoped at the time that he could have screwed around more as he watched the young man who, being last in the class, was called to the stage to shake the hand of President Eisenhower as a sort of perverse honor. McCain, in reminiscing for the interview, seemed to think it amusing; I do not.

This cavalier attitude regarding personal learning, irrespective of brave military service to our country, is alarming to me and should be to all those who have watched another poor student and cut-up, George W. Bush, run our country into the ground. It is likely, in my opinion, that both men's lack of studiousness and diligence is dangerous in a leader elected to manage a complex government in a complex world. McCain most recently has demonstrated his lack of due diligence when he spoke of how little he knew about the economy. Even if, as is apparent, McCain the Senator focused on national security issues (and even then, did he study them, or does he just rely on his "gut"?), how does one spend decades in the Senate without learning economics inside out?

Now, one could loosely make this same argument about Obama, I think, but unlike Bush and McCain, Obama recovered from a lack of seriousness in his teenage years, going on to be a top student and Editor of the Harvard Law Review, which, while not the definitive measure of seriousness, certainly takes an extraordinary commitment to serious study regardless of innate ability.

Both Hillary and Obama are exceptional students of life, history and government. As such, and in light of the tragedies which befall America when we elect a student cut-up, we Americans will be better off to elect a President who is consummately serious about studying and understanding the highly complex world around them.

Obama '08!

McCain: Whoops

It will be interesting to see the end result of this election. Hillary loves to throw the rock and hide her hands.

She is the one along with Geraldine Farraro that knew exactly what to do to finally bring out the race issue in this contest. This is something that they have been trying to do all along, to make people see Obama as a black candidate.

It is awful and sad. I really hope that those people in the next few primaries give the Clintons what they deserve, failure!

The saddest thing about this whole thing with Wright is that Obama was right in that this is the generation of blacks that do not trust whites because of what they have experienced. And church is where most of it comes out, however, what white people have seen as the meanness in the message, is customary in the black church. I am not necessarily speaking about the choice of words, but the moving and the style of preaching.

Most Black ministers regardless of the message always get dramatic, forceful, and loud during their sermons, so if you were to take away the words and put others in its place, you would still get the dramatization in the pulpit.

Although many of Wright's comments seemed radical to many, they were based on many truths and were not exactly anti-American as many would perceive from those sound bites. They were truths, in many ways.

People not affected soon forget that the government actually did give syphilis to black men in an experiment, this is documented and true. So to think that the government would spread HIV is not so far fetched as many would like to believe.

It is also true that our foreign policies, many of them are the cause for the hate and the desire to kill Americans, which too has been documented many times.

So many of the things Wright has said, along with biblical teachings, are not untrue. However, because of the tensions between white and black, and because of our inability or unwillingness to admit that America does need to rethink some of her positions inside our borders as well as outside our borders.

The real problem is that many people take the news for what is written or stated and go no further to investigate or research a topic, we tend to believe everything we hear on the news until that news in a part of our personal lives and it is our family that has their own story distorted. It is at that time that we want the world to know that the news media is unfair and biased.

It is my prayer that Whites, Hispanics, Asians, and Blacks would take the time out to actually learn about what our leaders do behind closed doors that put our lives in jeopardy.

This man, Wright is also an ex-Navy man, there are things that he knows about what our leaders have done behind closed doors militarily, which is also demonstrated in his message.

We as Americans need to stop, take out a moment to investigate the truth and then make our decisions. However, without an open mind, a clear view of entire scope of a thing, or we lose as a people.

When all the dust settles, we will come to terms within ourselves that we have been tricked many times by our government. The problem is when someone speaks out about it, they are unpatriotic. Does this mean that it does not matter what our country does but just because we live in it, we should agree?

Absolutely not, we are Americans and that means we have the right to speak our hearts, and research our government moves and plots, and make informed decision, as to if we have treated others fairly.

Great example: Bush, weapons of mass destruction, instill fear in the people on this one opportunity (911) and get the revenge you want for your father's attempted assassination. Forget Afghanistan, only put a few there, the place that the real killer resides and go to war in Iraq.

Five years later, no weapons of mass destruction! But an invasion that has killed thousands of Americans and thousands of our allies. Our government lied to us, defrauded us, and you still cannot see Wright's point, be they good or bad?

It is a sad state in America. We are willing to sacrifice a great leader that can help us get on the right track because of behind the scene tricks again. This time from Clinton, who in fact, helped Bush destroy our children's lives, the economy (war cost), and families all across America. Just because she is a Clinton with name recognition, we are once again willing to put power in the hands of someone not smart enough to read a report, which would have given her a different view, or perhaps not!

I will not vote for this woman, period. She is now trying to steal the nomination, put women against men, and divide us even further. Is this what you really want for America?
McCain: Whoops

S.B.
