The RULES state that the superdelegates get to vote based upon their own determination of who would be the best nominee, NOT that they should be bound by the popular vote, or any other criteria. If Obamians want to FOLLOW THE RULES, then they should FOLLOW THE RULES, and not attempt to change them at this point in the process. Again, the RULES give the superdelegates total freedom to vote their will.

By the way, Mark Penn, her chief strategist, represents Countrywide along with his union busting activities. And as we know through james carville, we know how the Clinton's are about loyalty.

Senator Clinton appears intent on destroying the chances of Senator Obama to win the General Election if she isn't the nominee. If Senator Obama were to be elected in November it would be highly unlikely that she would mount a challenge to the incumbent President and by the time 2016 rolls around there would be questions of her age at that time (she'd be 69 years old at the time of her election if she were running in 2016).

Besides, what better way to strong-arm your way to the nomination in 2012 by scuttling the candidacy of Senator Obama in 2008 and then showing up 4 years from now crowing, "See, I *TOLD YOU* you should have given me the nomination!"

This is from the Library of Congress... - but it can also be found in "Dictionary of Politics" ---

The purpose of the "Hunt Commission" formed in 1980 -which created today's superdelegate system...was and I quote,

"to streamline the delegate selection process to party conventions and to DEMOCRATIZE the party itself, broadening the base of political participation by increasing input into the process of selecting presidential candidates, to strengthen ACCOUNTABILITY of public officials and strengthen the party itself whose base was weakened by the vigorous activities of the the Republican Party."

Speaker Pelosi's situation is entirely correct... the purpose of changes made to the selection process including superdelegates were in the direct goal of "democratizing the party" and holding public officials "Accountable" (and it references "to the members of the party" later in the section)to the party and therefore it's members/voters.

so legally I think this is almost done.

If the Democratic Party were smart enough to award delegates on a "winner take all" basis, exactly as is done in the general election (with electoral votes) and in the Republican Party, then Clinton would now be the nominee, just as John McCain is. This nonsense about Obama winning states like South Carolina is absurd!!! He is NOT going to carry such DARK RED states in November, and awarding him the nomination thinking he will is a pipe dream. Stop fantasizing, folks, and wake up. The Republicans are going to crucify him for having said nothing during 20 years of anti-American sermons by his pastor. It may mean nothing to a lot of us, but the GOP is going to destroy him on this issue alone. As a Party, we'd be suicidal to nominate him. But we probably will, because we're very good at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
