And in electing an African-American, we also profoundly renounce an ugliness and violence in our national character that have been further stroked by our president in these last eight years.

The similarities between John Kennedy and Barack Obama come to mind easily: the youth, the magnetism, the natural grace, the eloquence, the wit, the intelligence, the hope of a new generation.

But is might be more to the point to view Obama as Lincolnesque in his own origins, his sobriety and what history now demand. Like Abraham Lincoln, Barack Obama challenges America to rise up, to do what so many of us long to do: to summon “the better angels of our nature”.

Super delegates should use their own judgement and even vote for a candidate with fewer pledged delegates if they feel that the candidate in question is a really bad choice or completely contrary to the DNC idealogy. But that is not the case here, i.e. both Obama and Clinton are very capable candidates with very similar positions. So there is no reason for them to go against the popular choice.

I can SO relate to that!!! I'm working 70-80 hours a week and I'm no better off financially than I was a year ago. I know a lot of people are having to work a lot harder, and a lot longer, just to keep their heads above water. Yesterday, I spent 70.00 at the gas pump, then 100.00 at the grocery store. Now I get to cut out a check to pay my property taxes on a house that is not worth what it was last year... market values are going down as more foreclosures pop up, but my property taxes have not gone down because everything covered by those taxes has gone up.

Michelle is right on the mark!!

It was nice to finally hear her story.

I see that Dem voter registration is reaching a remarkable new high in Oregon as it has in PA and as it did in previous States as well as in those upcoming primary States. For one county in Oregon where Republican registrations normally exceeded democrtic registrations there is now a 4,000+ reversal of more demmocrtic registrations. There is one and only one reason for this. Obama. He has incited people like no other. It is truly amazing.

Now if people will maintain this exciterment and desire to particpate and will help Obama when necessary to make sure Congress enacts some decent legislation after he is elected we will be just fine.

Remember, Obama has stated he cannot do all this on his own. He can incite and provide a pathway but we have to take the right direction as a Nation and provide the energy. He is smart enough and not so egocentric like Hillary to know this is fact. He knows he will need the people to support and help him move this country forward on many important issues. Let's be sure after he is elected that we give him that support and energy when he calls on us.

all of you have been duped with the slight of hands of politics. thinking that Obama is the next savior of the United States of America. Why? because he comes out and says so, and you all nod you're heads and act like he must be telling the truth because he seems so nice. now don't get me wrong, the man is an incredible public speaker, one to go in the books with clinton, regan, and kennedy. but it's all candor my friends. to vote you don't only listen, because rhetoric is a politicians job, you also have to look at the voting record, and so far as i'm concerend obama isn't any different from any other politician, plain and simple. even in talking he's double spoke this election. and double speak isn't to be confused with the cliche phrase 'flip flopped'. no obama has stayed consistant in some of his views, but will contradict himself when it sounds good to the audience or moderator he's speaking too. i know, someone will say "prove this, prove these claims" and if you have an honest interest i will repost. but chances are you're either enamored or not at this point, and my post won't make the bit of difference. Obama will win in 2008 and then you'll all see what i mean by same old politics the same old way.

The future of our great nation is not in the hands of a couple of candidates running for president.If you believe all the BS they are spouting you are misguided. We should be more concerned with state senators and other members of the senate. They are the ones that change laws and manipulate the constitution.
I would bet that most voters don't even know who these people are!

I'm glad for a change that I no longer read calls for Hilary to quit the race.

Even Bill Maher an Obama supporter said he can't understand why the need for the call. She's not exactly in Huckabee's foot. She's won the dem's base states AND the all too important swing states of Ohio and Florida. She's as close to it as he is.

For those afraid that both will get blodied up before the nomination, well, this is politics - wait until they run against the Republicans. If anything, this is a good way of preparing Obama should he get the nomination. These are kid blows compared to what he'll get in November.

My preference is Hilary because of her expertise, wisdom, fortitude, resiliency and focus is truly what we need right now.

France voted for a Sarcozy who promised heaven and earth. Can't quite deliver. I'm afraid we can't afford another mistake.

Clinton desperation has sunk in. Hillary's bold faced lies about her Bosnia "experience" will cost her dearly in Pennsylvania, a state with blue collar workers and vets who don't take kindly to people faking military experience. They don't want another Toy Soldier in the White House.

Obama would not have mentioned Al Gore being a member of his cabinet unless Gore gave him prior approval. That means the end is near, probably after North Carolina where she will be drubbed.

The Clintons have been outwitted, outsmarted, and outplayed by a rookie, and the end is near. Obama will then overwhelm MCain with sheer numbers in the fall.
