Reportedly the Clinton campaign did hear this story from someone in Ohio. They just never checked it out to see what the real facts were.

Not as bad as lying, but then we also have seen a pattern of laziness throughout. They never figured out the delegate counts before Feb 5. They never looked at varying caucus rules until just before the event, when it was too late to organize for it. They never planned for anything less than a knockout on Feb 5. They seemingly got caught by surprise with a spend plan (or lack of a plan) that exceeded their fundraising, though they've raised incredible amounts.

All in all, can the Clinton campaign be characterized as anything but lazy? Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., attempted to change the measure by which anyone might assess who criticized the Iraq war first, her or Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., by saying those keeping records should start in January 2005, when Obama joined the Senate. (A measure that conveniently avoids her October 2002 vote to authorize use of force against Iraq at a time that Obama was speaking out against the war.)
