Lieberman has just become a non-factor in CT. Its not that people don't like him, he still seems to be a likable guy of good character. Its just that he hasn't been working for us anymore. I voted for him against Lamont but probably wouldn't make the same decision now.

I don't think his name with McCain would help him here or hurt him. CT is solidly blue so McCain isn't going to get a lot of votes here anyway.

At the same time, I have no idea what the rest of the country thinks of him. He has a lot of good qualities but he just has to find the best place to be...

Are you surprised? He was the Democratic VP nominee eight years ago and he tilted Republican ever since. He's the second coming of Zell Miller.

I don't mind blue dog Democrats who have Conservative ideals in southern states. But this guy is opposing his party just because he actually lost the primary in 2006 over the Iraq War issue. His opposition and support of McCain is more about his ego than about politics.

Now if Lieberman would only refer to himself as an Independent Elected Democrat, then he would be an IED. I was not going for humor here, largely because it's not funny.

If Liberman were that unpopular in Connecticut, he never would have gotten re-elected as an independent after losing The Democratic nomination to Ned Lamont.
But he did get re-elected, and he did so in a landslide.
If anything, Lieberman will help take votes away from Barack Obama, if he is the Democratic nominee. He'll help push some Democrats, in particular Hillary supporters, to vote for McCain in the event of an Obama candidacy.

that's no surprise. i used to live in CT and there's no love lost between him and us. just look at numbers from the last election between him and Ned Lamont. for such a high ranking incumbent who was VP on the ticket in '04 he came through by the skin of his teeth. just like the more people know obama the more then like him, the more people know leiberman, the less they like him. He's only independent in the sense that he's looking out for number 1. (ps I like Connecticutensians)

I personally think Lieberman as a supporter of the war in Iraq like McWar, would make a horrible VP. He has the right to support whoever he deems fit as president, but the country is supertired of warriors. Joe's reasoning for backing the war seems to be in line with McBomber out of friendship rather than common sense.
If the two of them become our next eladers in the White House, America will certainly go and "bomb, bomb, bomb" Iran.

Doesn't matter, I don't think. McCain isn't picking Lieberman for a running mate. He'd only have cover to do something like that if Clinton was the nominee - a situation in which the base would be with McCain no matter what.
