Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is out of touch. Sen. McCain is out of touch with most of the soldiers I know (who are referred to as bullet catchers by the elitist Navy sailors and Air Force pilots). The varying degrees to which there out of touch is up to everybody to judge for themselves. I know that I was shocked to find out that these 2 PRESIDENTIAL candidates who have been on the campaign trail for so long; and that have so many years of experience in Washington. Don't know that a large amount (some even say 80% of Americans polled are dissatisfied) of Americans are bitter. With all the important looking news clips of them at hospitals and poor people’s homes; and the pictures of them with concern etched on their face in some living room or picket line. I couldn't believe that neither one of them knew that there were God fearing, red blooded, patriotic, Americans who are bitter. I'm sure once they get wind of all these comments and see the error of they’re ways there’s going to be some quick backtracking. In the mean time I want to voice my opinion about this latest “Bitter Controversy”.
Because I’m bitter; after Two 15 and 16 month tours to the sandbox and less than 6 months together with my wife in the last 2 years… Yes I'm bitter; but I'm not the only one. I see and run into bitter people all the time. Much more frequently than I run into happy go lucky optimistic satisfied people. To clarify my statement though I would like to add. Some of the bitter people I run into are very funny, well behaved, well spoken, law abiding, respectful citizens. Being bitter doesn’t mean they are violent, disgruntled, hateful, or walking around permanently angry. People are just bitter, with these high gas prices and the economy only getting worse and worse. Former New Orleans Louisiana Citizens are bitter with a federal government that seemingly left its own citizens to fend for themselves: in one of the worst natural disasters since the big quake in San Francisco. Every American citizen is bitter from living with an antiquated immigration policy that’s broken and that seems like the government is just playing politics with. People are bitter with racial tensions seemingly worse now than they were in the 90's, 80's, or even the 70's. The rest of the free world is bitter and disenchanted with us as World Leaders. The Euro is sometimes twice the value of a dollar: so a 4 Euro pack of cigarettes cost $8 American dollars. The ridiculous hundreds of billions of dollars in debt we are in to communist China should make any red blooded American bitter. While were steadily outsourcing jobs and in trade agreements with countries that could care less about our people or our families being out of work or struggling; I have family that’s in Akron and Dayton Ohio out of work getting old, bitter. Broken borders... The Democratic Party should be bitter that the Clintons again seemingly (with scandal after scandal) left the door wide open for Al Gore (A Nobel Prize winner) to crash and burn and go down in flames. It is in my opinion that its partially because of them that the Country wound up in the hands of the Republicans who have lead us into this disaster. I still love my country but I'm definitely bitter and upset with the last 2 administrations that I grew up in that have let things come to this.

I believe in the second amendment. I believe Sen. Obama believes in the Second Amendment and the right of Americans to be able to bear arms. He has been one of the Amendments fiercest defenders. I was baptized and have attended Christian School almost all of my life. My faith didn’t come out of bitterness but I know that Jesus message has always been to bring hope to the downtrodden and downcast. What the Senator said is correct. We as Christians cast off our burdens and sorrows in Christ and in church where we believe we are uplifted by his Holy Spirit.. One of the reasons we fellowship in the Lord is because they're are bad governments. From the Pharaohs to Pontius Pilate they’re have been administrations that have made the people bitter. When times are tough people look to they’re faith for refuge Read Exodus, Psalms, Thessalonians, Corinthians, the New Testament... All those letters to the Churches after (the) Acts of the Apostles or Disciples were pretty much about staying strong in the faith through desperate times. I respect Sen. Obama more than ever for standing up and actually telling the truth. To say that most Americans are happy and optimistic like little children is out of touch. When times are good people aren’t worried so much about crime or guns. When times are good and people are happy and truly optimistic we don’t have so many people using drugs like Crystal Meth… People are happy when they have good jobs that they’re confident they’re going to have the next year. When they’re’ not worried about loosing they’re home or worried about how they’re going to afford gas and still be able to save for they’re children’s education and they’re senior years… No government has ever been perfect, or utopian, but is it unrealistic to just want a President who will help the people instead of the lobbyist and big Bear Stearns?

I believe that out of the three viable candidates that we have left, that Sen. Obama is the one who is the most in touch and connected to us. He didn’t grow up in a wealthy Illinois Republican dynasty, or in some very wealthy Military family that could give him access to the elitist Navy Pilot School. That doesn’t except the children of the common American family. Sen. Obama wasn’t some fancy Navy fly boy… He would’ve been one of us (or like me a Grunt).
Then Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has some nerve; when she doesn’t even realize how out of touch she is. Look how she sounds in her new commercials being run in Pennsylvania: where she talks about her family summers at “The Cottage”. It's like she doesn’t get the difference or really care that most common people don’t have summers at “The Fabulous Cottage“ that looks like a mansion or some manor… or the White House. She’s completely out of touch. Most of the people I know spent summers on the porch or at they’re friend’s house; with a 2 or 3 day trip somewhere like Disneyland or the beach or some place. I can’t even imagine a whole summer of my whole family not working and being able to hang out at some gated Mansion with butlers and maids. You can see in the commercial the place was humongous. The fabulous Hiltons and Mrs. Rodham Clinton may be used to summers like this at “The Cottage”; but what is this the Simple Life or the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous? The Hills or Richie Rich?
Sen. Obama grew up with a single Mother and from his childhood pictures (looked Happy and Loved on the beach with his Grandparents) with his Mom doing the best she could; but he had to make it on his own. Like the most of us he had to make it by using his own wits and drive; without the rich connections or a Father that is the Admiral of the Pacific Fleet of the Navy. He didn’t even have the brand new convertible Corvette Stingray like Sen. McCain. He didn’t have the trust fund; like most of the rest of us he had to work and pray hard for everything. The President of the Harvard Law Review, a self made yet very intellectual Senator that really seems to still be one of us. That hasn’t completely forgotten what it‘s really like to be one of the 'have not’s'. Neither One of the other two candidates has ever even experienced an average or lower middle class lifestyle. They have all led fantastic lives and achieved and done amazing things. They have all had to overcome. The difference is 2 of them are completely out of touch with the common American or the average tax payer/voter. Senators McCain and the distinguished Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton are completely out of touch with the people, with the small hands that turn the wheels...They can read about being poor, or some older politician’s thoughts on abortion, and being frightened and out of work or being a young single mother… They can visit the barrio and the poor and be gracious enough to listen to you and me gripe; but they have never known a day of not being monetarily rich or financially set for life or even of having an immediate family member that wasn’t rich. Bill Clinton seems to me to be as close as Hillary will ever get to having someone who may have been poor in her family. Sen. Obama or Barry knows what it means to really have a debt or college loans that have to be paid back that you can‘t afford.
The rich kids like the Kennedy’s’ like him and have endorsed him. Stars like Oprah, George Clooney, George Lucas, and even Rolling Stone magazine believe in him and support him... So the wealthy and well to do should know that he’s’ not out to get them or that he wouldn't just forget about them either. He’s just of and for the people and he’s honest with us because he knows people are intelligent enough to handle it.
You don’t have to sugar coat things or try to trick or politic us into liking you. I can’t afford a new set of Nomax gloves to take to the field with me. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton telling me that I’m happy and optimistic isn’t going to get those gloves or make them magically appear.

I believe that Sen. Obama is really special. Like Governor Richardson said he’s the type of Politician that (if we’re lucky) we get, or that comes around once in a lifetime. I think this last much a do about nothing, is the result of panic and jealousy that the cats out of the bag and the other politicians are really looking bad. To anyone calling him out of touch for overtly being OBVIOUSLY in touch; it’s definitely just a jealous and desperate, frightened reaction. The words he said behind those closed doors in Marin weren’t scandalous or out of touch. The response from McCain and Hillary Rodham Clinton has been… It’s easy to see. People are at the gas pumps bitter, Protesting the War bitter, (Pink against the War or whatever…) Michael Moore and Sicko and the environmentalist are bitter… The problem with Immigration on both sides of the border is bitter the Minutemen are bitter. Out of Work people are bitter and mad at the way there jobs have been outsourced and that Nike is building a brand new 2.3 billion dollar factory in Vietnam. Dell and America Online etc… are spending millions building buildings and business in India spending millions training people in India. People are bringing guns to school and shooting everybody and killing themselves, bitter. They’re not optimistic. They say that there were officially One Hundred and something suicides in the Army last year; but I can almost guarantee that there were more than that, that the Army won’t classify as a suicide. In every unit there putting Soldiers on Suicide watch taking the bolts out of their weapons they’re boot laces and belts. When people are happy and optimistic they don’t have to give up their educations and dreams to join the Army to defend their country and families.

I am a little bitter but I do love my country and I BELIEVE in Sen. Barack Obama for President in 08.

Today in Scranton, Senator Clinton made the case that Senator Obama, while being a "good man" is also an "elitist" who said "divisive" and "demeaning" words. She went on to say that "good men" like Al Gore and John Kerry had been painted as "elitists" by Republican operatives and that she is tired of seeing Democrats painted as "elitists".

The fact of the matter is that Senator Clinton, in a desperate opportunistic Hail Mary attempt to undo Senator Obama's insurmountable lead over her, is herself doing the sleazy job of undermining the "good man" who WILL likely be the Democratic nominee. Her selfish, narcissistic need to win - at all costs - has apparently blinded her to the damage she is inflicting on the Democratic Party and, ultimately, on herself.

Senator Clinton has every right to continue the campaign, but her shameless mischaracterizations of Senator Obama's words and intent are disgraceful.

Her actions are also counter-productive to her own self-interests. If (by some unimaginable miracle) Senator Clinton succeeds in destroying Senator Obama, she can only do so by concurrently destroying herself and the Democratic Party. In such an unlikely event, I won't be the only Democrat who decides not to support or vote for Senator Clinton.

Senator Clinton's all-out offensive may allow her to win the battle, but she will certainly lose the war.

Second of all, IF Hillary ACTUALLY believed that Obama was wrong and that he was being condescending, then I would totally understand her going after him for it. But the problem is, she KNOWS that he was not. Yet she is intentionally trying to spin it and portray him as something that she herself does does not believe he is. It is so completely disingenuous that it's sickening. It's just like that Ronald Reagan quote - she KNEW what he meant by it, but she went through great lengths to try and convince the voters that he meant something else. This type of politics is just so disgusting.

What Barach does not grasp is the cultural and work ethic of rural and small town America. Look at the absenteism that occurs in urban areas and compare it to rural settings. Look at turn over rates in small town businesses.

If not, the gentle reporter should be taken off the religion beat and redirected to something else. There was much more the forum than whether or not the most recent religious flap on the trail was addressed to the reporter's satisfaction. The responses of the two candidates shed light on the personality, character, and politics of each. I thought one of the candidates framed answers to score political points more than the other did. I won't name names, though. I will let you figure that out for yourself.

At the start of this campaign I was 100% a Barack Obama supporter. That is why I can't believe that he has turned into this. Barack Obama, I have come to realize, is no different than anything we have seen in politics in the history of this country. The man is a hypocrite. He says "shame on her" and then goes on to bash her....he contradicts himself in the same speech! He says that he's a candidate for all the people...not just for the delegates "like Hillary." (unless a state has no delegates to offer him, like Michigan, then he'll pull his name off the ballot). He claims that superdelegates MUST support the will of the people in their states (unless Hillary wins New Mexico and Mass. and Bill Richardson and John Kerry want to throw a vote his way). He claims that campaign workers do not represent his beliefs (Powers and Wright) but he claims that Hillary's campaign workers represent hers (Penn). It's contradiction after contradiction after contradiction.

I am disappointed in the campaign that he has run. He is trying to become President of the United States of America. His campaign has not offered the American people anything but vague "hope for change." What substance is there in what he says now? I see him up there talking like a comedian, trying to get a few laughs at Hillary's expense more than trying to convince me that he is the candidate capable of improving this country in the next four years.

Honestly, I think John McCain represents Obama's message better than he himself does. McCain has run a very positive campaign from the start and he is a very admirable human being. McCain is a candidate who actually HAS worked across the isle in Congress (why do you think so many staunch conservatives despise him?) He's not the "most liberal" senator in Congress (like Obama is).

If Clinton manages to make the American people realize the false representation that Obama has given us, I may still vote for her in a general election scenario, but the way things are going now...it looks like as a young person who considers myself liberal...I'm rooting for McCain '08.

2. As far as the campaign goes she has had to fire multiple key staffers and retool her image, her message and herself at least a dozen times. Once again, if you can't run an effective campaign how can you run a country?

3. How do you let some who is as unknown as Barrack Obama come into a race that you were supposed to win hands down and beat you by delivering a more effective message?

4. So what are we too expect when things get hard as a president you will come on and address the nation and cry that you are not being treated correctly by the press or by other countries.

There a reason why the press coverage is the way it is. Since you thought you were entitled to this and were proven wrong you don't know ho to react.

5. The fact that you have to criticize and minimize everything your opponent has done correctly. He has done everything that you could not do. Your only chance to win is by going negative. What type of message does that send to the American people?

6. You are willing to "LIE" to get the job. The news media and your husband can sugar coat it if they want to but a "LIE" is a "LIE" no matter how you slice it.

7. She and her husband made over a hundred millions dollars profiting from his time in the White House and she wants us to believe that someone else is out of the touch with the people of America.

People ARE bitter and angry. I think Obama gets punished every time he speaks the truth. Guns and faith are important to certain sections of the population, and when they have lost everything else, they turn to what they have.. I really don't understand what this whole uproar is about. The media, especially CNN and Fox News, is stoking this current "controversy". We must be terribly ignorant, or immature as a nation, if we cannot differentiate between reality, and the lies spoken by the likes of Bush, Cheney, and the Clintons. Look at what is happening to our country. People are losing jobs, homes, and are fighting the rising cost of gas and food, health care and essential items. The war in Iraq, which should never have taken place, seems to be going on for ever and ever. Bitterness exists, not only in the small towns but also in the big cities, and if we don't change things now, I am afraid our nation will end up in chaos. Obama has been touring the small towns and is keeping a finger on the pulse of those people.
Clinton is the one who does not understand the true state of our country. She is desperate and is using GOP tactics in attacking Barack. We need to question her loyalty to the Democratic party. Ever since she lost Super Tuesday, she has shown her true nature. I used to be very supportive of the Clintons. But she lost my vote a long time ago. She is the one who should apologize to the people in the small towns, for her support of the war, NAFTA, and for her lies about her foreign endeavors!

All we've heard from HRC this weekend is a stream of attacks on Barack Obama's "bitter" comment and in such a Rovenesque manner. Clinton is switching parties before our very eyes.

Then on CNN tonight, she stated that Kerry and Gore appeared out of touch during their campaigns and that's why the voters didn't vote for them. She's dissing GORE NOW?

I think Hillary's bucking to be McCain's VP, as she's facing the reality that the Democrats don't want her.

When some said the extended primary would strengthen Obama as a candidate, I had to admit: I wasn't convinced. I thought for sure the prolonged battle would take its toll on Obama's candidacy.

But watching Clinton's latest attack on what Obama said about rural voters, I'm beginning to think this whole mess is a God-send for Barack. Hillary is coming at Obama with what would have been one of the GOP's main lines of attack (elitism, etc.) and watching Obama smack it out of the park must have McCain pretty nervous. I mean, small town or big town: if you're not bitter, you haven't been paying attention to the last 8 years. And if voters think that Obama gets that, this thing will be over in June...and I'm not talking about the primary.

No doubt many of the folks in small towns that once depended on a factory or two that since has moved overseas or even closed up altogether are bitter, angry, discouraged or beaten down.

After all, these are folks that probably had a comfortable paying job, health benefits and retirement. Their personal comfort added to the overall comfort of a great community. But once that's economically destroyed, how the hell would you expect them to feel?

The Republican's red meat issues of gays, guns and God have been steadily shopped around with little discussion about the economy other than tax cuts. Well, when you're making $7.50/hr at the local DQ and trying to support a family of four, those tax cuts don't amount to much.

Unfortunately, banning gay marriage, enacting guns rights laws and getting prayer back in the public schools isn't going to change much of anything in the day-to-day lives of the people in small town America. That won't bring back industry and prosperity.

Whether or not Obama and the Dems can stimulate the economy to the point that rural America can get a leg up on things again is questionable. On the other hand, the Republicans have done nothing in the past eight years and John McCain seems intent on maintaining the same failed policies of the past -- more money for the rich on the outside chance that some will slip through their fingers to the less fortunate. Hillary? She'll spend the next 4 to 8 years battling the Republicans and that huge chunk of the country that detest her name. And if she somehow manages to override the will of the voters and get the superdelegates to back her, you may as well add lots of Dems who loathe her. It's hard to get anything done when everyone hates you.

Admittedly, Obama's a bit of a crapshoot, but I think he's the best we've got. He's got the charisma and he seems to listen. The main question is if he can get an entrenched Congress (both Dems and GOP) to stop marching to whatever tune the special interests are playing and actually do something for the country.

We'll see!
