It's true also. A family of 4 that makes $50.000 a year is just scraping buy. If they were truck drivers or handy men or any job where your boss does not buy most your health care plan.. Under Hillary they would be forced to pay $4,000 or more a year for health care. That's already with her tax breaks and cost cap. How in the world could they do that when gas and food are already breaking the bank?

Obama still doesn't address the fact that his healthcare plan also has mandates that require all children to be covered. And with all mandates there has to be a way to enforce them. Obama doesn't understand the basic principles of insurance which require that everyone contribute to the insurance pool in order to balance out those that are healthy with those who are sick. If you make it optional to enroll, most won't enroll until they are sick and need to use the insurance causing adverse selection and insurance rates that are not affordable. Hillary's plan is sound and with this balance the cost to have the insurance will be much more affordable for all. Do your research before passing judgement and examine Obama plan carefully. He tends to only highlight points in his plan that he feels the public will be receptive to.

How does one explain the overwhelming number of Pennsylvania newspaper endorsements for Obama? One would think that with the close proximity to New York, and the constant support of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party establishment, and the long association of Hillary to the State, that she would be able to grab at least one large city newspaper endorsement!
Mabe it is because the editors of newspapers actually read his speech on race instead of the dissected three second sound-bites. Maybe they listened to the entire Rev. wright speeches with the offensive phrases in their proper context instead of the distilled Sean Hannity endless loop. Maybe they read the entire transcript of Obama's San Fransisco discussion, instead of Hillary's parsing of the phrases to suit her own ends.

Obama said that the political establishment would not change quietly. There would be a battle at every stage. He could have easily degenerated into a personal attack on Hillary's gaffes, but he didn't. He tried to remain above the silliness, because the cost is too high to sink to Clinton's levels. We must have a bipartisan effort to end the Iraq war in a sensible manner, and end the recession without ballooning the federal deficit. The drama of the 1990's Clinton years will not take us there.

I am a private citizen. In 1989 I wrote to the first president bush and suggested health care vouchers an idea I got from Milton Freidman's education vouchers. The White House called me and asked where I got the idea and ran with it.
In the meantime, I was involved in a lawsuit that was defended by Lloyds of London and Mutual Insurance Limited of Bermuda. I found out that they did not file the required forms required in Colorado when selling insurance and using their courts. And I identified 10 insurance companies advertising on the ABA web site that they are authorized to sell insurance in Colorado and backed by the state's regulatory powers, which the State of Colorado has no record of.
I have now completely changed my position. I no longer trust insurance company regulation. Also, the insurance companies that I bought medical insurance from in the last 20 years keep merging and buying out each other. Now I think that the $6 -$12 K per year I spent per year on medical insurance was just a total waste of money and I doubt whether the monthly premiums I am now paying will have any value. Every few years we switch insurance companies because the previous one discontinued coverage or jacked rates. Every time we have to re qualify and any pre existing conditions are excluded. Americans judge insurance companies by the reputable companies of the past not by today's insurance companies. Today's insurance companies are required to compete with the 1200 insurance companies operating out of Bermuda where management has no liability for the accuracy of financial reports.
I now believe that we should put our $ into a government system. Even if it doesn't pay for open heart surgery, we should be able to count on it being there and getting some value from it. Otherwise we're talking about sending trillions of American $ to crooks in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. Even if it doesn't keep us alive until we are 150, we need a plan that will fix broken bones, vaccinate, etc. A recent health fair in Ohio provided basic coverage that would have been government provided in most countries to people who were not getting the most basic of services.

Clinton's campaign is out twisting arms, applying pressure, and exploiting influence to wring every last vote out of PA in an effort to stave off the elimination that comes with a victory of less than ten points. He seems to have chosen a path of restraint - emphasizing his message of change more than her negatives - but the recent debate probably alerted him to a need to do both. I expect that if Clinton does not win Pennsylvania by double digit margins, Obama will return to his more positive themes, and leave it to the parade of superdelegates moving into his corner to pressure Clinton to withdraw gracefully at some point, for the welfare of the Democratic ticket as a whole. The problem with both Clinton's and McCain's health plans is that they seem to presume more than half the reason people don't have health insurance is because they're not good with managing expenses, they're lazy or don't know how to prioritize. The truth is that with the dollar going less far, it's not just "poor" people who can't afford insurance. It's increasingly us, the middle class. And if someone buys cheap insurance, it's with a high deductible, which doesn't work because if you don't have the money you still can't get in to see a doctor b/c you can't pay the $2500-$5000 a year of out of pocket expenses.

I'm really frustrated that only one candidate, Obama, seems to understand the reality of the economic plight that many of us are facing.

Obama's specifics vs Hillary's specifics

Obama puts forward a market solution to a market problem. Citiizen's can afford Health Care. Obama - so put forward regulation of industry, and subsidize people who can't afford it but leave a hole for lower class individual who can't afford Health care with the subsidies. Hillary - so mandate every body buy health care, even though it will move demand up further, cost more even with subsidies, and garnish wages of people who can't pay. Even if she leaves a hole this would be a validation of Obama's Plan.

Obama - mandate that children be covered because there are already State Level, and Federal Level child care programs that will help pay for Child care. Allow adults under 25 to continue under coverage of parents plan to allow. Hillary - attack Obama for covering children but not adults.

Obama - Allows adults freedom to chose weather they can afford Health care or not and let them go without healthcare as to not penalize them further.

I think Obama thought about his plan a little more rather then jump on the Edwards Health care bandwagon. By the way Edwards took ownership of his plan when he came out and said Mandates will be enforced. It took Hillary till February to make this statement.

And besides all this questionable laundry in Obama’s life, another serious question is why is Obama protected and promoted by the media? Is this also being directed from behind the scenes? The American public has been fooled before and I guess those in power know we can be fooled again. (Kennedy’s assassination, Martin Luther King’s assassination, the invasion of Iraq…).

The fact that Obama has made it this far demonstrates the collective lack of discriminative intelligence and education of this country. And nothing demonstrates this better than how well Obama plays his black card; which plays on our fear of being labeled a racist.

One points out the factual differences between the two plans, and the newspaper endorsement ad is filled with actual quotes from those papers -- again, factual accounts. And, to Kelly, Clinton DID admit, when pressured during an interview, that her plan did include a means of forced payment -- she would not say garnishment. (That admission came after more than one try, just as she finally admitted -- after being asked again point blank -- that Obama IS electable.)

Baby steps...although I would prefer mandatory universal health care, I honestly feel that Obama is creating a plan that could be passed and gain support across the aisle. At Toronto's Empire Club of Canada this week, two former US ambassadors to Canada -- one Democrat and one Republican -- debated how concerned Canadians should be that the Democratic candidates are serious about re-negotiating NAFTA.

It was the Democrat, James Blanchard, who told Canadians not to worry, according to Canadian press accounts.

Blanchard, former Governor of Michigan, is a Michigan state co-chair of Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign, one of her major "HillRaiser" fundraisers, and served as US Ambassador to Canada during the administration of former President Bill Clinton.

Hillary Clinton has pledged to voters that she will force Canada to re-negotiate the deal or the US will opt out of it.

"I've said that I will renegotiate NAFTA, so obviously we'd have to say to Canada and Mexico that that's exactly what we're going to do," Clinton said during a recent debate. "We will opt out of NAFTA unless we renegotiate it.”

But Blanchard seemed to pooh-pooh that bold statement, telling attendees that Democrats are more concerned about China and Mexico than they are Canada.

''Their concern is job loss or unfairness in dealing with countries that have low wage and labor standards and low environmental standards,'' Blanchard said, according to the Canadian Press. ''I have not seen anything that would constitute a threat to trade with Canada."

The story said that Blanchard this week "played down her antipathy toward the free-trade deal, saying she has visited Canada many times and understands the country well."

People will only have to pay a small % of their wages and then it they still can not afford it they will be subsidized. Obama's plan has a mandate as well, people will need to insure their children up to 25 years of age and the best he will do is give a $2,500 tax cut. Who can get health insurance for $2,500? .

Mr Uniter, not attacker has not had to attack because he has had the MSM doing that for him or his campaign. They sent out mailers in NH that were proven to be wrong, he said it was a mistake, but now they are sending the same mailers out in PA..

Here's how I feel about the Democratic candidates' respective health care plans.

A national mandate on health care - for all citizens - hits the poorer working class most. Many families choose not to carry health insurance - especially on the adults, as there are public programs for kids. This isn't because they don't want to have it. They just can't afford it. Garnishing wages (presumably the only way to enforce a mandate) is a terrible choice - not least in part because employees who get garnished not only face less income, but angry bosses too.

Last year, I dropped my health insurance. Why? Because it was costing me about $300 per month, and I STILL had a $2500 in-market deductible. I was scared stiff about getting sick - but if I spent $3600 of my income on premiums, I couldn't pay all my bills.

Yes, I believe all kids must have health insurance. Again, the public programs we have will do a lot to cover children. But requiring all Americans to be covered doesn't work. I work in an industry where there are a lot of single people who aren't making a lot of money. They don't want to pay 5-10% of their income for health insurance. They're adults. I believe that should be their choice.

Holy crapola .... people are debating HEALTH CARE again, and not stupid gaffes. Based on that, I'd say that Obama ads are a good thing - even if you disagree with his position.

Here's my question: Neither Clinton or Obama actually gets to make any laws. They will be forced to work with congress to implement their proposals. (BTW: Congress COULD add the mandate even though it's not in Obama's plan - they ARE the legislative branch after all).

Considering the fact that the democrats are unlikely get the congressional majority required to ignore several procedures (filibuster, cloture, etc.), don't you think that the GOP is going to demand input at some stage - and probably try to derail the entire process?

With this in mind, what are the actual chances of passing a health bill that included *ANY CHANCE* garnishing worker's wages if they won't buy in? I'll tell you - NONE!

What good is a health plan that won't pass? Actually, we already know the answer: look at the results from Clinton's last health plan .... inaction, and today's health care situation. If the next president fails, the results will be the same: inaction.

Why the hell would we want to revisit Clinton's biggest failure to date - didn't she learn anything?
