The article mentioned the "bush-cheney" energy bill.

The robo-call is a complete misrepresentation of that bill. Here's what I remember of it: There was a Bush-cheney version. Then the House of Reps got to put together their version and pass it. The new bill, the one that went to the Senate, was the only Bill on the block that ROLLED BACK tax breaks (subsidies) for oil companies and put some money into alternative energy instead.

Clinton did vote against it. So did McCain and the rest of the right-wing.

Then lets remember the "credit card bill" . . . the one that both Edwards and Clinton supported . . . (he only in 2001). It was called "The bankruptcy bill", and it was really horrible . . . basically making it so that individuals declaring bankruptcy would be even more vulnerable to the credit card companies . . . sorry Edwards fans, but he voted for it before he fine tuned 'the cause of his life'. Clinton thought it was terrific too. Obama was against it, both in 2001 and 2005 . . . so he had a chance to be against it, and then to vote against it.

Edwards apologized for voting for the bill, and says he now knows how horrible it was. Clinton says she voted for the bill, but is very happy that it didn't pass. She then tried to smear Obama for voting against the bill given that one of it's amendments (a 30% limit on credit card interest) was not as horrible as the rest of the bill. ugh.

If Obama was mean and nasty like Clinton, he could do up a great robo-call about that . . . but he isn't.

Elizabeth Edwards said what makes the Clinton Plan Universal is that Sen. Clinton has Mandated, required by law that everyone must purchase healthcare. She said the plans are 99% the same relative to policy and benefits.

If you don't purchase Sen. Clinton's plan because you can't afford it more than likely the premium payment will be taken out of your check. Sen. Clinton has refused to tell us how she will force Americans to pay for the mandatory plan/those that don't purchase it.

That's what Sen. Obama has explaining as the difference between the two plans.

A state has alread tried this mandated/required/mandatory approach and there are many people who could not afford the plan. They still don't have health care but they are paying the state a penalty for not having it.

So Sen. Obama's plan makes the cost as affordable as the Clinton plan but will not make you/force you to buy the plan if you feel you cannot afford it.

Again Sen. Clinton's plan would force Americans to buy healthcare however, she won't tell us by what method she will force us to purchase her plan.

The day after New Year's 1996, operatives for Barack Obama filed into a barren hearing room of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.

There they began the tedious process of challenging hundreds of signatures on the nominating petitions of state Sen. Alice Palmer, the longtime progressive activist from the city's South Side. And they kept challenging petitions until every one of Obama's four Democratic primary rivals was forced off the ballot.

Fresh from his work as a civil rights lawyer and head of a voter registration project that expanded access to the ballot box, Obama launched his first campaign for the Illinois Senate saying he wanted to empower disenfranchised citizens.

But in that initial bid for political office, Obama quickly mastered the bare-knuckle arts of Chicago electoral politics. His overwhelming legal onslaught signaled his impatience to gain office, even if that meant elbowing aside an elder stateswoman like Palmer.
A close examination of Obama's first campaign clouds the image he has cultivated throughout his political career: The man now running for president on a message of giving a voice to the voiceless first entered public office not by leveling the playing field, but by clearing it.

One of the candidates he eliminated, long-shot contender Gha-is Askia, now says that Obama's petition challenges belied his image as a champion of the little guy and crusader for voter rights.

"Why say you're for a new tomorrow, then do old-style Chicago politics to remove legitimate candidates?" Askia said. "He talks about honor and democracy, but what honor is there in getting rid of every other candidate so you can run scot-free? Why not let the people decide?"

In a recent interview, Obama granted that "there's a legitimate argument to be made that you shouldn't create barriers to people getting on the ballot."

But the unsparing legal tactics were justified, he said, by obvious flaws in his opponents' signature sheets. "To my mind, we were just abiding by the rules that had been set up," Obama recalled.

"I gave some thought to … should people be on the ballot even if they didn't meet the requirements," he said. "My conclusion was that if you couldn't run a successful petition drive, then that raised questions in terms of how effective a representative you were going to be."

Asked whether the district's primary voters were well-served by having only one candidate, Obama smiled and said: "I think they ended up with a very good state senator."
Obama behind challenges
America has been defined in part by civil rights and good government battles fought out in Chicago's 13th District, which in 1996 spanned Hyde Park mansions, South Shore bungalows and poverty-bitten precincts of Englewood.

It was in this part of the city that an eager reform Democrat by the name of Abner Mikva first entered elected office in the 1950s. And here a young, brash minister named Jesse Jackson ran Operation Breadbasket, leading marchers who sought to pressure grocery chains to hire minorities.

Palmer served the district in the Illinois Senate for much of the 1990s. Decades earlier, she was working as a community organizer in the area when Obama was growing up in Hawaii and Indonesia. She risked her safe seat to run for Congress and touted Obama as a suitable successor, according to news accounts and interviews.

But when Palmer got clobbered in that November 1995 special congressional race, her supporters asked Obama to fold his campaign so she could easily retain her state Senate seat.

Obama not only refused to step aside, he filed challenges that nullified Palmer's hastily gathered nominating petitions, forcing her to withdraw.

"I liked Alice Palmer a lot. I thought she was a good public servant," Obama said. "It was very awkward. That part of it I wish had played out entirely differently."

His choice divided veteran Chicago political activists.

"There was friction about the decision he made," said City Colleges of Chicago professor emeritus Timuel Black, who tried to negotiate with Obama on Palmer's behalf. "There were deep disagreements."

Had Palmer survived the petition challenge, Obama would have faced the daunting task of taking on an incumbent senator. Palmer's elimination marked the first of several fortuitous political moments in Obama's electoral success: He won the 2004 primary and general elections for U.S. Senate after tough challengers imploded when their messy divorce files were unsealed.

in the debate. OH REALLY! He brushes off his shoulders, talks about gotcha games, petty politics,

questions...and on and on when he claimed that he wanted to talk about issues. He was crying about the questions. He mangled the answers. Regarding Wm. Ayers, he went on to say that "he's not someone I exchange ideas with on a regular basis." He wasn't even asked that,
so it was strange that he brought up the exchange of ideas. He also said something about it was false to suggest that Ayers ideas vould be attributed to me. That was not implied...he was only asked to explain his relationship. He also mangled his answer about Pastor Wright. He said he "disowned him" and then was asked, you disown him? Obama quickly corrected himself and said, "I disown the comments".. It is quite amazing that Obama still defends Pastor Wright.
And it is even more disturbing that it does not matter to some Americans. Guess we should all go around singing "God Bless America" with a small "change" in the wording. The Wright style would be acceptable I guess.

It is too sad to see all those who have been duped by Obama and his campaign. All they have been doing the whole time is attacking Hillary with excessive negative campaigning. Do you get it yet? Barack framed his campaign positively and Hillary's negatively, and all his campaign does is full-spin attacks against Hillary.

She has only forecasted and raised issues that Republicans will raise in the fall, and we will lose because Barack has no proven ground to stand on with swing voters. He has no record - just his past - and there's a lot of extreme stuff in it that swing voters don't like. Like it or not, Reverend Wright was his pastor for 20 years and he said some really extreme paranoid things that Republicans will bring up and examine more thoroughly to the country as issues. There are a lot of questions and doubts that they will raise about Senator Obama - he has not proven what he can or will do. Republicans don't like that. Even Laura Ingraham said she would trust Hillary more with the Presidency than Barack. The Clintons have proved how hard they will work to bring this country prosperity. They know how to do it. They are proven centrists. Hillary is smarter than John McCain on the economy, and smarter than John McCain on defense. Barack doesn't like to debate her, because she knows "circles" around him. But do we live in a country where we really want the most qualified, knowledgeable candidate to be President? The person who would be able to help and govern our country most efficiently and effectively?

It is the press who focus on personal attacks (especially against the Clintons)and not on substance.
Bill's policies were mostly constructive and good for the country - and Bush's have been so destructive - but who cares about what matters? Let's bash the Clintons! Weeee - how fun! We are so grown up. We are so mature in our priorities and what matters to this country.

I don't think Barack could beat McCain with swing voters. Hillary has a better chance with swing voters, and it is only because his campaign has attacked her so badly, and framed her with all the blame that you don't understand she is an intelligent, good woman, and a person who has dedicated her life to being one of our most competent, outstanding public servants. She would be an excellent President. Barack could run in the future and have a better chance against Republicans after proving himself nationally.

Most importantly, Hillary has the best policies for helping the country.

What a crock of stuff. Obama supporters call Hillary a liar, but read what they write. If Obama uses robocalls and Hillary does too, then why the uproar. Drawing comparisons on competing ideas is not dirty politics. If you read almost any of the blogs, most of the comments are from Obama supporters who spend all of their words attacking Hillary with half truths, outright lies, and rumors that they have gotten from some blogger who doesn't really know if the information is true or not.

More than one Obama supporter called Hillary rude after about 300 words that were pure BS about her. Some are accusing her of murder (how stupid is that).

One even said that she had pardoned criminals in 1999. She, like Obama has never been able to pardon anyone.

I'm of the impression that if Obama said that he was a criminal (I know he is not) and had done unspeakable things, his supporters would say 'that's all right we know you had a good reason because you are pure.'

I was watching Tim Russert today along with NBC's Chuck Todd and David Gregory. I think Chuck Todd has it correct, should Barrack Obama not be given the nomination there will be a dishevel of the democratic party and hundred of thousands of democratic voters disband and leave the party. People want things to change, they want a better life for themselves, their children, some peace, a little prosperity. They want to believe that our future looks better than the past 12 years and will listen, let alone believe Hillary, even when she lies. You are so entrenched in the same old political quagmire filled with its enuendos, dirt-throwing and negativity that you can't see "Change is the only Hope" our country has. Also, Hmmmmmmm, has anybody noticed where Hilliary is wearing her "flag pin"....or that Bill pardoned some of the people associated with Ayer's back in the day..why is Mr. Obama assummed "guilty by association" when you know all to well that the clintons have very questionable associations and contributions.
Its time to give our country and its future a chance, its time for the power-mongers and the good old politics as usual to have its last curtain call.
Iam not proud of what our government has done in the last decade, I am personally bitter over the loss of personal freedoms, working harder but getting further behind...I want a change, I want to hope that the future looks better...

MoveOn.org is 3.2 million strong, of donors, voters, and volunteers...who Clinton went after for an endorsement...but they chose Obama. She has recently attacked on TAPE...revieled on Huffington Post.

I remember I was visiting my mother the day before the Ohio primary in Cleveland. She joked, "I've gotten six calls in the last two days from John Glenn, Bill Clinton, and the rest of the team telling me to vote for Hillary! Obama must not care about me, he hasn't even called once!"

She was being sarcastic of course, as she has a great sense of humor (and of course, she voted for Obama, becuase she's a hard woman to dupe with gutter politics). What she was slyly suggesting was how typical it is for the Clinton camp to think the voters are so dumb they'll be wooed by heartless robo-calls.

This is classic Clinton campaigning. Just like in New Hampshire, sending out a eleventh-hour blitz of mailers wrongly attacking Obama on his abortion stance, leaving too little time for him to adequately respond.

The formula in Pennsylvania appears to be a lot like the one they used, successfully, in Ohio and New Hampshire.

Step 1: Bombard the voters with baseless negative attacks at the last minute, regardless of their validity (see: Clintons attacks on Obama's abortion stance in NH despite getting a 100% rating from Illinois' state chapter for NOW. also, see: Clinton's attacks on Obama's NAFTA stance in OH, despite that in fact her husband is the architect of NAFTA and in fact she rallied support for it).

Step 2: If the Obama campaign takes the high road, as he usually does because he respects the intelligence of the voter, continue attacking. If the Obama campaign even lifts so much as a finger to defend itself, decry it as "whining," and claim he's not capable of picking up the phone at 3am.

Step 3: After the dust settles and it becomes clear the attacks were bogus and the voters were duped, move on to the next primary and pretend it never happened. The media assists very nicely in Step 3.

This is the Clinton Family Recipe for stealing an election. And as much as I'd like to think that it won't work this time, it has in the past. Just watch, the ambiguously racist geriatric wing of the Democratic Party that cares only about where the next Medicare check is coming from will carry Hillary on her shoulders. Insert four more years of partisan bickering, needless war, and failed policies here.

If people keep voting how they always voted, they'll keep getting what they've always got. Just look at us saps here in Ohio. We got left behind at the station economically because we fall for name brand recognition (Taft, Bush, Clinton). We have suffered dearly as a result of voting for people who either have no interest in helping us, or are too incompetent to do so.

Where I used to live, in Missouri, Hillary is what we call a snake-oil salesman (or woman as it may be). Please America. Don't screw this election up.
