Obama is somewhat hypocritcal of Former Pres. Carter's meeting with Hamas. Didn't Obama say he would meet with leaders of countries not friendly to us, like Hugo Chavez, Kim Jing Il, and perhaps Castro? Why was it wrong for Carter to meet with Hamas's leader? Yes, it's a terrorist group, but it's also the political leader of the Palestines in Gaza, so, one has to deal with them in order to make peace in Israel.

What this means--- most of those people will cast their vote using provesional ballots that will NOT be counted tonight.

I support Obama, but am very disappointed in his stance on Pres. Carter meeting with Hamas. He met with the POLITICAL leaders of Hamas, not members of its military wing. Secondly, they were democratically elected whether we choose to recognize them or not. If any peace is to be made, Hamas will have to sign off on it.

However, any presidential candidate must always regurgitate the AIPAC talking points on Israel - "chief ally," "only democracy in the Middle East," "Israel has a right to exist," "Israel has a right to defend itself," etc...

Hamas is not the leader of a country nor are any of it's heirarchy. It is a hard-line organization whose goal is the dissoluton of Israel into an Arab state. Equating the leaders of Hamas to the leader of a country is like comparing Osama bin Laden to the President of the United States. By your rationale, Al Queda is a terrorist group, but bin Laden is the leader of radical muslims against the free world so one has to deal with them to make peace in the middle east.

Hilton supporters should thank Obama instead of saying he is weak. He chose that route in politics. Questions he could have asked to give back in same coin as Clinton (or the moderators could have):

(1) Can one accurately say you are implicitly spending Columbia's money while you claim to be against their trade deal since you fie a joint tax with Bill and he took 800K from them?

(2) If you are very serious about this opposition to the deal, why would you not fire your top staff member that collects money for promoting the deal you oppose?

(3) As a follow up to the Bosnia story (the way they kept hounding Barack): Can you call it a mispeak if you repeated the same falsehood three times?
Is Bill's explanation accurate that this happens when one 60 and getting a little forgetful?

(4) Do you believe that Barack is indeed elitist compared to you considering that you also went to Yale and made 110 million last year?

(5) Peter vs. Paul: Does this suit claiming payments in exchange for potential favors not keep dogging you folks not present a problem against the GOP - if not at worst another impeachment or white house trial?

(6) Does she believe saying MCCain is qualified to be president and so is she but not Obama is worse than saying anybody is better than Bush including McCain but both Democrats are better than McCain

Pat - you are correct in that perhaps no peace agreement can be attempted at this time without talking to Hamas. But President Carter isn't meeting with them as per the U.S. diplomatic strategy - he's meeting with them despite U.S. diplomatic strategy to the contrary.

I'm as critical as anyone of the Bush Administration when it comes to foreign policy, but until President Bush leaves office, he's still the only president we have. For a former president to defy the current administration with such a sensitive visit is worthy of criticism.

Whether President Carter likes it or not, he'll never be just another private citizen. He's a former president. Its a similar criticism to how President Clinton may be diminishing the prestige of the office by acting like a Wolfson-clone campaign hack. He's not a private citizen, and not just a candidate's wife - he's a former president.

To "Democrat", actually you are wrong. The Hamas political party won the majority of seats in the most recent Palestinian elections for parliament. That makes them the majority ruling party, and that is when the US said it would not deal with terrorist organizations and froze Palestinian assets.

Hamas is both a political party and a radical islamic group bent on the creation of a Palestinian state and the destruction of Israel. They are one and the same.
