They were picked to win the Super Bowl before their season even began. They were crowned the winners before a pass was ever completed back in September.

They were going to win it all. Remember that?

One problem - another team quietly put together a game plan on how to beat the Patriots. Still no one gave them a chance. But the Giants persisted. And along the way people started to take notice. And as everyone knows, they persevered and won it all.

The Patriots were outcoached and outmatched in every way.

But it’s not fair we all said in New England. Tom Brady v. Eli Manning? Give me a break. Eli didn’t deserve this. HE COULDN’T WIN!!! It’s just not fair!!!!!!

And now we have Obama v. Clinton. And you continue to say of Obama - HE CAN’T WIN!

Actually, what you’re really saying is - It’s just not fair.

Well, Barack Obama has put together a game plan, he has persisted, he has persevered. And in the end you will see that you were outcoached and outmatched in every way.

And just like Eli Manning, Barack Obama can win and will win.

Fair? Absolutely. Just like Eli Manning. Why? Because he fought for it and he earned it.

Sincerely,
Patriots Fan
Those white working-class voters...

These numbers can be misleading. How many white individuals making less than $50,000 are actually working as opposed to seniors who are on a fixed income. Clinton definitely has an advantage among seniors, but I don't buy that she has a huge advantage over working class whites, these numbers need to be better scrubbed.

Those white working-class voters...

"Scew 'em" is what she said about these people in the 90's, and yet they're voting for her now. I think the media should be honest with the American people and vet HRC. She has not been. Ask her the tough questions. People are being disillusioned that things will go back to how they were in the 90's this is impossible.
I’ve used the phrase, "Solutions to hoodwink the American people" in many of my post because that is what her campaign is doing. Especially when she says, "I know I like how things were in the 90's...during the Clinton Administration." Please media do you job and ask her how we will get back to those times because that is what the American people are expecting with her presidency, and I afraid she will fail miserably. This year, it's critical to the aspirations of both Clinton and Obama.

As such, the candidates need to engage Indiana voters and one another in a forum that stretches beyond glossy TV commercials, showy campaign stops and rote speeches delivered in city after city.

In short, the candidates need to meet for a debate in Indiana in the next few days.

Why another debate toward the end of an exhausting campaign? For starters, the last debate, in Pennsylvania, was heavily criticized for delving into side issues rather than centering on topics such as the economy, health care and foreign policy. Well, then, let's have a debate here that digs into the many serious issues facing the nation and this state. How, for example, do the candidates reconcile increasing taxes during a possible recession? How would they fulfill their pledge to pull troops out of Iraq in a matter of months if the Iraqi government were to collapse or terrorist organizations were to set up training bases there?

It's true that these questions and others have been addressed at various points in a long campaign. But voters tend to pay more attention to candidates' positions when their own primary is imminent. Most voters in Indiana have forgotten what was said in Iowa four months ago.

A debate planned for North Carolina, which also holds its primary on May 6, fell apart this week after the Obama campaign backed out. The senator's loss in Pennsylvania should prompt his advisers to reconsider whether this is the right time to disengage.

The Clinton campaign already has accepted an invitation issued by the Indiana Debate Commission, along with its partners CNN and PBS, to stage in a debate here. (The Debate Commission represents various civic and media organizations, including The Star. Star Editor Dennis Ryerson is vice chairman of the commission.)

Those white working-class voters...

I'm feeling as though the media is giving more importance to old, poor, white, uneducated voters than to other populations. Since when did old, poor, white, uneducated voters become the most important voters in the Democratic Party? (Probably when the Clinton spin machine said so, right?)

The truth is Obama is winning other populations that Clinton may not win, too. Obama is winning young white voters, African-American voters and wealthy white liberal voters. Money-wise, it would seem the latter are more important to the Democratic Party than old, poor, white uneducated folks. I hate to be so crass, but in keeping with stories like this one in First Read, why should an old, poor, white uneducated person be given the prime responsibility for the direction of the Democratic Party? Don't we want America to be rich again? Don't we want America to be a thought leader in the world? Don't we want America to include everyone? Let me tell you as a woman this shows much weakness on her part.

Those white working-class voters...

Oh by the way, this didn't warrant being posted as a thread. There are a whole lot of skeletons in both Hillary's and Bill's closets -- we only broached the tip of the iceberg in 1992. What about African American voters can Hillary win them over. The media just discounts African American voters. They have been very loyal voters for the Democratic Party. Why do you just dwell on White older voters. Its another example of how the media plays the public.

Those white working-class voters...

Weren't those states at the top of the list also at the top of the list for driving under the influence?

Those white working-class voters...

I have no doubt that this election is over and has been for some time. What absolutely amazes me is the success of the Clinton PR/media machine. It literally has to be the most successful PR effort of all time.

Try and think of another situation where a candidate is losing in the popular vote, is losing in states won, and is losing in elected delegates with absolutely no chance to catch up and is STILL getting huge press as if he/she has a realistic shot at winning. It's mind-boggling.

Granted, the media is likely going along with the Clinton PR blitz because by saying the race is close, they get the public to believe the race is close, thus more people tune in to news broadcasts and they can sell more commercials.

But even given that, the Clinton PR machine is showing it's true strength in an unbelieveable way. Who else could claim that they don't want to disenfranchise the voters of FL and MI while simultaneously claiming that they would like the superdelegates to overthrow the will of the entire nation, and not be called on it once? It's amazing.

Fortunately, I don't believe even the media or the Clinton PR machine will be able to keep this up after May 6. Thankfully, it will all be over by then.

Those white working-class voters...

It was the blue collar white voters that put Bush in for the last 8 years look where we are today. In a recession. Gas is at it highest and soon we will be fighting to get rice. The war in Iraq has crippled us. Our bridges are collapsing and young people can hardly find the money to get a good education. This is what the old blue collar white workers have done for us. Go Hillary you will get the chance to sink us deeper in the ground while you live the lavish lifestyle that we would never be able to live. Thanks again white america.

Keep the faith Obama if the White House is to be your home, there is nothing those white blue collar Hillary supporters can do to bring you down. Keep believing cause we believe in you.

OBAMA 08 A NEW BEGINNING

Those white working-class voters...

I am thinking of a media boycott by the masses. I feel discriminated against! The same for classifing me as "under $50,000.00" Just because I grew up in an era that you didn't need a college education to get a job does not make me a minority, I have worked hard all of my adult life, I started working at age 14, and recently due to the Bush White house I was making good money, now I have a job that pays $10.00 per hour, but that gives no one the right to think that I will vote for Hillary Clinton just because of what I make per year!
This story was as bad as the one with the "thongs" in it. Doesn't it make sense to not say things that you wouldn't say in front of your own grandmother! What happened to respect? Which my the way CLintons have none of!

Those white working-class voters...

I think if everyone really thought about the reason that Senator Obama, will not get many blue collar workers we already know. They will never vote for an African American no matter what. We can not change their minds. It is something that they believe. It is for those of us who refuse to let this opportunity pass by have to work extra hard to get his message out. We must work together to bring this nation together. There will always be those who have dislikes for those not like them. We as a nation must be patience and try to get them to understand there is a new day in America, and if we are to move forward we must all work together.
