Oh and by the way, being one's pastor or even Dad does not imply agreement of views or ideas. One only needs to witness me arguing bitterly with my Dad on politics and yes I love the old guy. The differences in tmperament and focus of those two could not be more obvious. One talks about similarities and overcoming common problems and how there are no red and blue states, black and white states but the United States since 2004. The other you give him 5 minues to talk politics and he starts on differences (he should be confined to speaking religion, if that).

One is from two backgrounds and focuses on lifting up while the other talks only of black church and black people (which obviously does not include Obama's mom, grandparents, and cousins so can not be his message).

One is self-centered, flamboyant, and attention seeking (this election is actually about me). The other has an even temperament, thoughful demeanor whenther he is up or down, attacked or praised.

It was funny watching Keith Olberman last night on the Msnbc/Obama news network. He kept asking his panel: "What does Obama have to do to get past the Wright controversy?" Olberman sounded desperate, as though he just wanted Rev. Wright to go away so that the Obama love fest could go on.

Question: If the press is supposed to question candidates, like Obama, who want to hold public power, then why is Msnbc so in love with Obama?

It's a nice thing that our future President can play ball. OK, he can't bowl, but neither can I. It's a harder game than it looks. That's why so many people bowl for fun and so few are good. Basketball is also hard to play and involves a lot more activity. The time when I could keep up with the game is long passed and I'm a few years younger than Obama. Kudos to keeping in shape enough to run with the college guys even if it was just for a little while.

Maybe Obama could talk about the obesity epidemic and tailor his national health insurance program to address the issue. If people had inexpensive access to health clubs as part of their health insurance they could get into better shape. Health club memberships are out of my price range and I would use and have used them if and when I could afford them. What is it that they say: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?" At least make health club memberships tax deductible. That would be great!

I posted some comments on Wright until I read the transcripts of his most recent appearance at the NPR. His earlier message had focused on differences and I was extremely critical.

I would enjoin everone to seek all the facts before judging the totality. (Particularly the question and answer sessions).

Just need to mention the new Indiana Survey USA poll out today. Hillary Clinton leads 52% to 43%, with 2% unsure and 3% for others. Its funny but I didn't originally comment on the basketball thing (although I think its great he got to play with the Tarheels!!) but reading the comments I was reminded of one thing...this past Winter one of the things I had my kids do (more my son but then my daughter and they are young) is to have them begin to play basketball inside at the local Y gym.

The reason, aside from the fitness aspect of the long Winter, is that I told them that if they were comfortable playing basketball, they could always find people to play with (at the gym, on the playground courts, at school). They could always make friends as long as they could pick up a basketball and play with some competence. Its a fun team sport and so easy to find pick-up games.

Basketball is a great equalizer and a universal sport...it is easily played anywhere there's a playground or gym or backyard with a hoop and a BB.

Hmmm-Obama says he likes basketball and plays basketball. He eats in diners and cafes with surrounded by regular people and gets hammered when he wants to eat his waffle. He bowls badly, like most people. I know because I saw him.
HRC says she knows how to shoot and goes to church but I haven't seen her do either one yet, and the last time I saw her in an eating venue with real people, she was chugging a beer & a $6 shot of booze. And now her appearance at Bill's fraud trial gets delayed too, boy that's funny. How come nobody I know ever got a six month postponement in court? And how come Obama is spattered in Rev. Wright's mess and HRC isn't getting spattered in Bill's mess? Hmmm.......
Yeah I'm bitter-and it's NOT Obama that's making me that way because from what I see he acts a lot more like the people than she does. Oh-I'm a college educated white woman BTW, and I'm voting for the person I think is better for the job-race and gender are and should be totally meaningless.

All of y'all saying this is irrelevant understand nothing about North Carolina. (or Indiana for that matter) Basketball is EVERYTHING there. It's blue-collar nirvana land for Obama. The fact that this guy can even play on the same court with one of the top 4 teams in the nation speaks volumes to both his stamina and his ability to resonate with "regular people." This is like Hillary downing shots in PA -- it earns him a lot of respect points. Bravo!
