Senator McCain travels on his wife's private plane whose cost is about $7,500 per hour - not the $2,000 per hour included in the New York Times article. I would be willing to bet that the Obamas know how to pump gas (and do pump their own gas) and certainly don't have a family private plane to fly around on. Why don't you see stories in the media discussing the label "elite"? i.e. why don't the media even attempt to challenge how patently absurb it is for Clinton and McCain to call anyone else elitist? Comment: Isn't this a peculiar quote that deserves some attention from the blogosphere and the MSM? Curious how President Clinton should use this phrasing when Senator Clinton's campaign can arguably be tied to the same "rule-changing" (e.g., the Florida/Michigan pact, the "it's the delegates, stupid" comments, etc.) that appears to be a key (and some might say, indispensable) part of the Clinton campaign strategy. This is apart from the fact that Senator Clinton's policy prescriptions are presented in the same "I-know-what-is-best-for-America" tone that was evident at times during President Clinton's Administration.

I guess you could just sum this up by saying, "Pot . . . meet kettle." (Isn't this deja vu . . . I mean, hasn't this been said with respect other comments made by the Clinton campaign before?)

I'd look closer to home and not just to "conservative attacks".

If Barack Obama is sincere about changing the approach to politics and moving beyond politics of old, and let's assume he is, his biggest obstacle is represented by Jeremiah Wright and the rest of the entrenched black power structure, also represented by Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan.

These power mongers rely on victim status in order to perpetuate their control of their constituency. Obama, with the message of looking beyond race, is a threat to that.

And look at who the entrenched black power structure has been aligned with in the past. It is with the Clinton wing of the Democrat party, the "first black president" and his wife.

Perhaps conservatives have reacted predictably to the Wright rantings, but the origins of the current controversy might be traced to a different source.

Republicans really have no horse in this primary race that goes on and on. They will work at weakening both potential candidates. That's just the way it is for both parties.

But who has the most interest, especially currently, in making things hard on Barack Obama?

Any time Bill Clinton moans about having the race card played against him is probably an indicator he/they are playing it themselves.
