Just what exactly is Barack Obama trying to do?

(1) Overturn a culture of cynicism and institutional corruption dating back before any of us were born.

(2) Begin a new day of people comming together to build solutions to problems, instead of tearing each other apart for political gain.

(3) Begin the healing of the wounds of war, sickness and economic deprivation built up from the decades of cynicism and institutional corruption.

It is no wonder that all the forces of the darker side of our civilization have come forward to oppose him.

Efforts were made to drown the crowd out by turning the music up full blast, but they couldn't stifle it all.

I'm waiting for the video of the crowd booing Gov Easley (who endorsed Hillary). That was a hoot too.

I was told by someone who was there that after Hillary finished speaking, she had a "pep rally" in the parking lot outside of the dinner. This is unheard of for the Jefferson Jackson dinner, it is a fund raiser and not a candidate rally.

The first half was a typical stump speech but the end had a very interesting riff of the "It's my patriotism" issue where he pushed back against Wright and flag pins and that part was very new and powerful.

Elizabeth likes Hillarys approach on Health Care. I to am a cancer survivor and just had second surgery. I hope I can see Hillary as first Madam President.I cannt though see John Edwards with the Wright debacle and more comeing back a plan that leaves so many out.Hillary does believe in what John Edwards tried and I hope still tries to fix and that is close to his heart.Hillary has so many Vet endorsements cause it means so much to her. and she has worked and is working so hard to help our brave men and women.I am proud of her for so many things she has done.Obama has done a lot of damage to the party and country. I hope he would work as hard to bring it togeather should Hillary be the nom.

If we Dems are as stupid as the GOP believes we are, we will eat each other, rather than honor our Democratic ideals. Let's put our differences aside, and unite.

The reason this primary has been so divisive, and contentious, is because we are almost desperatly passionate about the historical significance of our respective candidate's potential of overcoming the oppression that has shut us out of the Presidency.

Let us leave this in G-D's hands. Let us accept His Will.

Has anyone put it together that the media has an interest in prolonging the 'drama' of this campaign? It's kind of like the O.J. trial -- guaranteed grist for the 24/7 cable folks for months, don't you think? So, maybe their predictions, their forecasts, their obsessions with Rev. Wright, lapel pins and the like, are all about sowing the kinds of doubts in the minds of the uncommitted voters that would cause Hillary to pick up some steam and----LENGTHEN THE RACE! How dull for these pundits if the thing were to be wrapped up Tuesday night by Obama. No more fun -- no excited predictions about a tumultuous Democratic convention, about superdelegates, about 'the math' and all the other horse-race stats they've focused on. No fun, at all.
I hope the American people realize what's really important here --- let's not let the media shape our values, our understanding of what's important and what's not. Let's use some critical thinking and do what's best for the Democratic Party and the United States. Elect the person with judgment, temperament, commitment to raising up those who lack opportunities, and restoring our image in the world. Barack Obama for a new America!
