From NBC's Mark MurrayAbout the same time Clinton appeared on ABC, Obama sat down with NBC's Tim Russert to discuss Jeremiah Wright, gas taxes, Clinton's comments on Iran, and the Obama-Clinton race.

He looked presidental and had a hold on the issue. I especially liked when he said that people we have relationships with change and sometimes the relationship ruptures. Good point. Once again he connected with the working class through his story of struggling finacially and fighting for the middle class by rejecting the gas tax holiday. This holiday is pandering to the working class and will cost us more money for gas than saving us money. this is what we need as president. someone willing to fight for the middle class not someone like Clinton who fights with anyone who does not agree with her.

Obama on NBC's Meet the Press

Clinton's gas tax holiday proposal is in the main no different than what the predatory lenders were offering.

Both are bait and switches, both prey on working people's need to save money, both employ illusory promises.

I wish Obama would make this argument. He IS arguing that oil companies would raise prices and there'd be no actual savings at the pump. But IMO, he should tie that in with the predatory lending scam to show that in both cases the "haves," duped/are duping the "have nots" with the lure of saving money while hiding the big picture truth.

The lenders made money, but their scam resulted in economic turmoil. Clinton will get votes, but the end result will be divisiveness and more gridlock. Both involve deception and cheating.

And both scams are dishonest and elitist. The mutual mantra: Dupe 'em, take 'em, move on.

IMO, Obama should be talking to voters on this level. He IS calling Clinton's plan a "shell game." But why not also show voters that it's the same kind of shell game the predatory lenders ran on them. He is a thinking man, very eloquent and his presence is very Presidential. He doesn't think 'bullying' is the way to improve our stance in the world. I agree. He does not think a quick fix to the gax price gauging that has been going on for months is the solution, but has offered up precise, long-term solutions that will. He LEARNS from his mistakes and the has EXPERIENCE necessary to KNOW when something will not work. He listens to those around him and takes ALL data into account BEFORE making a decision. He has listened to many viewpoints, some he agrees with some he does not, in order to learn from and appreciate where people of different backgrounds come from so he can best lead the American people FORWARD! If you do not have understanding, you cannot truly bring about the REAL change this country so desparately needs.

I am proud to be an Obama supporter. I am proud that he has the guts to stand up against the Clinton name recognition, inside advantage and criminal tactis to try and free the American people from the politics of fear and division.

God Bless this wonderful man. You don't have to agree with everything he says and does, but you do have to give him credit for having the courage to stand up for what he sees as the 'FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW'. Wright. this is a decision of the people.

If we are to dismiss Obamma's connection to this person who proudly proclaims that America is the Worlds Terrorist, and chants "God damn America" in a context that unequivocally supports the worst possible understanding of his intent, Mr. Obamma must give us a rationale for this. What he has offered is simple disavowal only. You cannot have the depth of willing and intentional association with such an individual and simply just say I'm going to change the subject. In fact he leaned on the association with Rev. Wright to offer proof he is no longer a Muslim.

Then when it is politically expedient he claims that the closest of direct intentional associations is and should be severed. He says over and over again that Wrights views are not his, but actual objective evidence says the opposite, and he tries to change the subject.

Obama uses deceptive reasoning when he analogizes his somewhat racist white grandmother (which, like ones skin color is not a relationship that one actually chooses) to his fully consensual and intentional relationship with Wright. The American people do not judge a man for their family because they know no one gets to freely choose their parents or siblings, but they can and should judge the character of the man for his open free choices of association, particularly when they are directly on point. Wright hates America, in a very racist, direct and unacceptable way. I write this after listening to hours of Wrights words (in perfect context) fully willing for the sake of friends whom I love to see if this was nothing but sensationalist reporting. It is not, Wake Up!

This is not constructive criticism of occasional bad policies (which is true of every country).

We all knew little about Obama in the beginning, he is a great speaker, and he is very charismatic. We now know enough to say at least that he must give a proper defense of Wright, not a simple disavowal.

We cannot stand for hatred of America.

Obama on NBC's Meet the Press

IT's my birthday and I want my family to donate to Senator Obama's campaign as my present! I am still waiting for Hillary Clinton to apologize for the 4,000 people who are now dead in Iraq (that's only the Americans, let's count the millions of Iraqi civilians dead, too) because she voted for this Iraq War. I also want her to apologize for the trillions of dollars wasted in Iraq that would have prevented the home foreclosure crisis at home and the economic crisis now. Oh yeah, I forgot, that isn't newsworthy enough for MSNBC because the Wright controversy is more "sensational" than 4,000 dead young Americans and thousands of dollars of taxes wasted for each American. The questions some here have complained about weren't tough, they gave the illusion of toughness while giving Obama a friendly environment to offer his anti-Wright comments to a national audience. No tough rebuttals from Russert. Not one. Softballs all.
Obama on NBC's Meet the Press
From Head of State
http://headofstate.blogspot.com/2008/05/hillary-says-that-regarding-rev-wright.html

"Sunday, May 04, 2008
Hillary Says That Regarding Rev. Wright and his 20-year membership in the Trinity congregation, I believe you owe it to yourself and the people you are trying to convince to learn more - much more - about Rev. Wright and develop a reasonable picture of precisely what Obama heard during those 20 years. Are the video clips legitimate reflection of the sermons from which they were taken? (In 2 cases - 9/11 and 'damn America' - they are not. The 9/11 clip, in fact, was a quotation of statements made by a former US Ambassador to Iraq - and clearly identified as such.) I have paid attention - because I was as offended by those clips as anyone - and the only absolutely objectionable sermons/statements I have been able to find were the clips from Dec 07 referencing HRC, the sermon that was discussed in the Rolling Stone (and that led to Obama's rescinding his invitation to Rev. Wright), and the spiels he went into at the press conference last Monday. If you can find others - for which Obama should be condemned for 'sitting through' - then you are welcome to continue your argument. Empty words based on baseless assumptions will (or at least should) convince no one. Please. Do your homework or stop harping on this made-up argument.

Obama on NBC's Meet the Press

He brought me close to tears. He humiliated her in the most public way. He was impeached based on lying. She chose to stay. I believe they have been married for over 30 years. By the reasoning in the post then she will have marital affairs, be impeached, oh and also pardon felons upon leaving office.
2. I would like to make 2 points about Rev. Wright.
He is 65 or so? Barack is 46. These are far different generations. It is very possible that Barack was attracted to the church to finally find a place to belong. I did the same thing growing up as a military brat. I wanted to put down roots. When he joined the church he was 26. How much have all of us changed since we were 26. Isn't it possible that his worlview grew as he grew? I absolutely understand how he handled all of this. He didn't handle it politically. He tried in every way to prevent any harm or hurt to his "church family" which became symbolized by Rev. Wright. A church family sees pastors come and go but the congregation is the church. Even this morning he expressed his intention to continue as a member of the church, the church family that has 89 ministries for the people of the southside of Chicago and around the world.
Finally, I absolutely do not understand how anyone who has been really listening to Obama, reading his books, following his career can ever believe he somehow is hiding his "real" beliefs which would be those of Rev. Wright. This would make the most extreme conspiracy theory even more extreme! Do his critics think he will morph into Rev. Wright as soon as he is sworn in on the BIBLE? Please remember he is biracial. His father who was Black would have been the target of any hate he may have. IT was his father who abandoned him. He talks about his mother who was White with great love and affection. I just don't understand how anyone can truly believe that Obama is a clone of Wright. Well, yes I can. Those people are only repeating sound bites. If you can remember the 90's and even at this time, the Clinton's have always been associated with questionable financial transactions. There is an actual trial in California at this moment alleging additional illegal activites in fund raising by them.
Obama has never been accused of illegal activity in the Rezko trial; the Clintons have - over and over and over. Last go around it was the vast right wing conspiracy. This time it is the far left conspiracy.
Those of you who are too young to remember the 90's, do some research. And yes, you will be electing "the Clintons" and all that involves.
