The New York Times reports that Bush's sudden about face on FEC appointments was done at the urging of McCain who needs a functioning FEC in order to get his money for the general election.

McCain looks at Obama, and sees what only can be called a target rich environment. Obama is an extreme left wing member of the Democratic party, while McCain is a left of center Republican. Obama has little to no experience either as a community organizer, state Senator, or US Senator. He has sponsored no significant legislation, and has never varied from any left wing stance. McCain has worked well with both the conservative wing of his party and with the liberal wing of the Democrats. He gets things done, and takes the political hits that one would take while engaging in that kind of politics. Obama plays it safe and stays on the far left of his party, never venturing out or taking chances. McCain has decades of experience, Obama has one year at the national level with the remaining two years he’s had in the Senate being used to run for President. McCain is the true uniter in Washington, bringing together people from all over the political map to agree on landmark legislation. Obama, has done nothing, only speaking in high level generalizations about “Hope” and “Change”. It’s not hard to see who the better candidate is for President.

I have questions for Senator McCain, since not all of us are lucky enough to be married to heiresses worth over $100 million.

If the middle class is knee-capped and not able to bear the burden of completely financing the government while the rich get to keep their tax cuts and receive future cuts, who is going to pay for anything?

If the good paying jobs are moving over seas, who will be able to afford to buy anything?

If the Republican version of "Free Markets" means socialized "losses" and privatized "profits" a la Bear Stearns? Who is going to pay for this?

You can't keep cutting middle class income, threaten social security, allowing pension programs to be raped and gutted, and still expect the middle class to pay for everything. If there is one more "let them eat cake" moment coming from the Republican Party, there will be an uprising and it will not be pretty. You can kick an electorate only so many times before they come back fighting.

I don't know which is worse, Hillary's campaign mismanagement and debts which keep her from paying for the union labor that she uses or John McCain using taxpayer subsidized prison labor instead.

When it comes to the FEC, I wonder if they will really let McCain get away with opting in and out of getting federal money for his campaign. He applied and then he withdrew... Is he really able to make that call?

Maybe Ron Paul supporters will do at the Republican National convention that they were alleged to have done in Nevada -- shut it down for a time. McCain has a ways to go to get everyone supporting him on the Republican side. It sounds like it could be bloody; just this is going to be less televised.

McCains' age and health are two of his most serious issues. There is a high probability that his vp will end up as president. That makes one of McCain's most serious issues an "unknown".
