Hussein O. to win the election. He’s unelectable. He will suffer the same fate as Mike Dukakis. Everyone here is entitled to believe what they’d like regardless of the facts - but the FACT is, he will not get ENOUGH of the support of the white voters to win in a general election. He just can’t win, as Paul Begala said, just by getting the AA & the “egghead” vote. The numbers, the NUMBERS don’t support his win in a general election. Hillary is without question a better candidate (meaning a better chance to win the general election) and if I’m a republican, I’d do ANYTHING to make sure that Hussein gets the Democrat nod. He is actually the savior of the Republican party as much as I hate to say it.
Obama vs. McCain

Oh Please! He speaks from both sides of his mouth, all the time. Yes, he is a war hero. Yes, he has experience. Yes, he is Bush term III. Yes, he has no clue on the economy. Yes, he wants to overturn ROE v. WADE (a woman's right to choose.)Yes, he wants to privatize health care and make us pay. Yes, he's for a gas holiday ( that will ruin our roads , cost 300,000 jobs and will increase demand for oil - raising its global price.) Yes, some HRC supporters say they will vote for him over the junior senator from Illinios ( voting against their own interest and better judgement). Because of the excitment created in the democratic party, our numbers have grown and outpaced the GOP by a wide margin. Even if some dems won't vote for our nominee, we'll still hold a far superior numerical advantage to the opposition. Who is excited about John McCain? I respect my elders; however, my grandparents can't relate to my issues, they just remember the good ole days. The truth is the good ole days, weren't all that good. The GOP will attach and attempt to destroy sen. Obama. The same old politics will not work this time. The people are more aware today and are closely following their canidate's actions. We don't want dirty politics. we want an honest debate, on the issues that matter. America can and will move past hatred and division, and racism. Politics used to be boring, that's why the majority of the electorate was older. Times are changing, and we want a differant type of politics. Young america doesn't care about race, color, or creed. We care about the issues and who can meet them. McCain or Obama, make your case.... we are listening!

Obama vs. McCain

Well it shows how good Obamas word is. To "lose your bearing" means to lose your way or to go off course, and was specifically referring to McCain's declaration of running a clean campaign.

Quit trying to make something out of nothing.

Obama vs. McCain

Losing his bearings....is not an age related remark.

For McCain to think it was, is a sign of his weakness and his willingness to fight around the 'margins' rather than stand-up and fight on the real issues.

A fight he will lose.

Anyone who thinks he can get thru this GE without his temper exploding in some very public venue does not know McCain.

Obama vs. McCain

I'm 66-years old and if McCain feels that words like "losing his bearings" has anything to do with age, then he is way too sensitive and is looking for a fight in all the wrong places. Of course, my opinion is subjective as I've already made my choice for November.

I suppose it remains to be seen who sticks to their promises the most in the upcoming contests, and whether things such as this are just indications of what's to come from either or both campaigns.

Obama vs. McCain

And these politicians expect us to respect them, they are acting like 5 year olds, mo-om, he's calling me na-ames...

Our founding fathers would just cring!

Obama vs. McCain

This age flap is too funny! And so early in the game. Obama is going to eat McCain for breakfast and spit him out - as stale cereal (Capt'n McCrunch).

Obama vs. McCain

"losing his bearings" was not a comment on age, and Salter is a psychopath. It's a seamans term of old, and the litteral meaning of the term is actually "loosing your way or direction".

What a bunch of Koo Koo birds over in McWar land!

Obama vs. McCain

Hamas also seem to be fond of the Late President John F. As such, I have had reasonable respect for John McCain up to now, even to the point of preferring him to HilLIARy were she to be the nominee.

These "Hamas" comments from McCain, however, are a huge step down for him in my eyes, and are simply pathetic. Watching Obama's interview on CNN, his response was measured but indignant, as it should have been. He was presidential, John McCain was surely not.

As to the Salters blowback: 1) The sensitivity to that potential avenue shows precisely where the McCain camp thinks they are most perceptually vulnerable. 2) If you are representing a "navy man" and son of an admiral, you need to cogitate that "losing his bearings" surely means "off course". It was an apt description with absolutely no suggestion of ageism or senility.

Clearly, Mr. Salter, does not have the temperment to handle his job and shapes up to be a Mark Penn-style gaffe-a-minute performer should he be allowed to fire off statements like this in the general election.

Obama vs. McCain

Hmm. McCain is an American hero. He is a brave and courageous man.
It is his vision for this country and his position on policy that most American's don't agree with. He's wrong on foreign policy, weak on economic policy, and out of touch with social policy.
Moreover, take before you tag Obama with questionable associations or we could take the "straight talk" candidate at face value and assume that he welcomes his associations with Hagee and Robertson.
McCain has lost his way as he seeks the highest office and that would be a shame for him and a disaster for the country.
The last thing we need is a McCain presidency.
