Clinton, Laura Bush and the debate

Posted: Wednesday, October 31, 2007 12:27 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Lauren Appelbaum
Less than 10 hours after last night's MSNBC debate, Clinton joined First Lady Laura Bush and other leaders to discuss bipartisan legislation to ensure the continuation of historic preservation.

As First Lady, Clinton served as the founding chair of Save America Treasures. When the administration changed, First Lady Laura Bush continued the program while also creating Preserve America. Now, both the House and the Senate are working to turn the executive orders into permanent legislation. Clinton said the effort "represents the very best Washington can achieve."

Sen. Pete Domenici was optimistic, saying the bill will go through congress "rather quickly" and challenged the House to a race. Rep. Turner agreed to the race and said if the Senate beat the House, "That would be historic."

Although Clinton made no mention of the debate, co-sponsor Domenici did discuss it. "I watched the debate last night, and I wasn't sure you were going to get here today," the New Mexico Senator said to Clinton, eliciting laughter from the audience. "Because it was all about you, and you were teriffic."

Clinton later responded to the quick turn around. "It may have been a little difficult for me to get here," she said, "but I wouldn't have missed it. I look forward to passing the legislation, getting it to the President's desk, and passing it into law."

I finally agree with Hillary.  Small potatoes stuff like this probably is the very best Washington can achieve.  If it would stop trying to achieve anything else, we'd be better off.
Another position to make her look good.
Good for Hillary Clinton...this is one campaign that is worth tackling http://www.enewsreference.com
This about the only thing she can get to the president's desk.....
I can not stand the system, and my disgust is often manifested in Hillary's approach toward nomination.  I know running as a woman presidential hopeful in this country is nearly hopeless and the only way to approach it is with an insane amount of caution.  The same RWM, who has oppressed women for centuries, trolls until the inevitable miscalculation/mistake is made and then drapes a banner on it citing her lack of qualification.  I don't know what Hillary is (I do know that Bill bombed Kosovo and so will she, rudy, mitt, fred, edwards, obama, etc.) and she can't be anyone but the person you are seeing because of industrialized and systematic sexism.  Pay attention to the criticism, some of it is justified (only because of her having to operate under the heel of the RWM) and some of it is sexism.  If Barrack were to surge ahead, get ready for problem 1a to manifest itself.
Who the heck cares?  She is soooo not important!
LMAO, this just released from Clinton spokesperson: Tim Russert unprofessional as moderator, and UNFAIR in questions. Clinton says he broke all the rules as a moderator, LMAO. IS NBC AND MSNBC going to take this crap from her...YES they are afraid to take her on or they won't get interviews with Bill. So say u are sorry Tim and Brian and send her some money LOL
i just hope that she will consider getting the soldiers out of danger as soon as possible. i believe that she's on the right track in reference to the war.
Lord forbid Hillary doing anything to "make her look good"The right wing will have their noses twitching ,their speech writers creating some garbage points and who knows maybe the whitehouse will crumble in desparation.
This is the perfect reason why she should stay in the Senate.
She just needs to stay in the Senate and go back to being a nobody like she was when she was first lady.
If this country fails to elect Clinton because she is a woman then this country does not deserve anything better than George w Bush.
Mrs Hillary get over it. The worst thing you can possibly have happen just did. You could never measure up to Laura Bush. And, since you believe in abortion, if I vote for someone who has no value on life, am I condemning myself to Hell?
Whether you like them or not, if the Democrats actually nominate Hilary or Obama, the Republicans
could win running almost anyone - now THAT's what
we all should be worried about.....
I'm shocked she could show her face after that whipping she took last night....
Finally!! An important piece of legislation that Pelosi and Reid can be proud of.  No doubt it will headline the pamphlets they send out during the election next year.
I agree with Hillary and I think she will make a wonderful President.  And to think that everyday she'll sit across from the man (Bill) who had our country in the best shape ever.  He may have hurt her (which was terrible), but he didn't hurt the country.
i wish our gov would work for the good of america and not coware donw to all the country that don,t like us , stand up and be counted.
Some men and jealous women can't stand a stong, smart, independent lady like Hillary.. YOU GO GIRL.. YOU WILL GET MY VOTE !!!
Hillary Clinton is nothing more than off shoot of her husband...perhaps the truth is she was running the office when he held the title of President.  She flip flops more than anyone I have seen, and since a woman is suppose to be the backbone, maker/ breaker of her husband, she sure hasn't shown much prowess as far as being able to present herself as woman who has hold on her family life.  Instead of standing in an senate position and running for president, maybe she should be looking at herself in the mirror and figure out why she can't keep her husband faithful.  Hillary Clinton has no business in the office of President of the United States.  Her entire life is riddled with scandal and questionable deeds.  Her husband, was a joke of a President and an embarrassment to the office of the President.  His accomplishments in office don't even hardly stack up to the list of embarrassing actions on his part while in office.  Hillary, if you have any common sense, ( which I doubt) you will do everyone a favor and step out of the race, resign from the Senate and go home and try to make your marriage one of substance.  You could not keep your husband faithful, and you cannot run our country.  You don't have any idea what you are doing.  Your health care plan is nothing more than an attempt to turn our medical industry into a conveyor belt of poor service at high cost.  Get a grip on reality woman! Your socialistic ways will not hold water in the real UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
Remeber what Clinton did in the white house.(when president)..The oval office!!!  Everyone in America must remeber....
What about the children, who look up to public figures and so on sports figures...Lets not forget!!!
Hillary is the greatest. MSMBC lost. Matthews, the main Hillary hater,Russert,Mitchell,Fineman,Williams were blatantly mean to Hillary and were obviously trying to drum up support for inexperienced Obama who will lose to Republicans. They even laughed off Craig Crawford's comments when he tried to speak up for Hillary. Matthews needs to stop being so biased and to show strong dislike for Hillary. Badly conducted debate.

Meeting with Laura to make sure the President and his backers are still pulling everything together for her Presidency.  She neede a little boost after the debate.
He may have hurt her (which was terrible), but he didn't hurt the country.

So, in other words, being a serial womanizer isn't that bad huh?

For all you idiots out there who would love Bill Clinton to be vice president, he can't.........

22nd amendment.......

Who ever Hillary picks as vice president is going to have to be someone who has no life and is just there to pick up his paycheck every two weeks.
"She was terrific?" - she was dodging and weaving so much that even a Hillary partisan had to be concerned. She is really good - at not answering any hard questions at all and being on both sides of a lot of issues - a truly great leader. The best one was (fact) at her husband's request, all documents with her name involved are specifically kept secret until after the election (Hillary version) we are releasing everything as fast as we can, it just really takes a long time.
Constance:

Maybe if Hillary would make her "private views" turn into her "public views", maybe people will understand her a little better.

She is still hiding her views to the public as far as social security is concerned, yet she will tell you privately.  Next time, she better just take the man into the closet and explain her views to him privately.
hey Constance, I will have what you are smoking, lmao, you are on a losing trip
It's Hillary or more of the GOP destroying the country.  Have you seen the value of the dollar today?
Senator Clinton did exceptionally well considering the kneecapping that went on for two hours.  John Edwards is a mean little man.  Obama is grossly overated and unelectable. Joe Biden was superb.  If the two men, Edwards and Obama, keep this attack up it will backfire. Until last night I was undecided but no longer.  If the men want to beat her up, she has my vote and money to help her win the presidency.  Chris Matthews could barely contain his sick glee.  I am through with him and Russert needs to be schooled in what is appropriate moderator behavior.  Brian Williams, as always, was a gentleman.
Nameless in California Do you approve what Bush has done in the Oval office sending nearly 4,000 Americans to their death to boost his EGO and to insure his re-election. "just think what a war can do for the republican party" Karl rove 2002.
I will have to vote for her if she is the nominee but I must now agree that Hillary is just an opportunist. Not more than three days after MS. bush calls Democrats a bunch of demagogues, hillary cozies up to her because it is expedient. After ms. bush's last rant no Democrats should have anything to do with her.

Yea I will have to vote for her in the general but in the primary Im with Edwards.

now we know that republicans and ms. bush hate AMERICA, middle class kids and Gen. Sanchez.
hey nameless, what about the middle class  children bush and his buddies refuse to help?

big oil, big business, big insurance but screw the middle class.

Remember that!
Mrs. George W., is a nice lady, too bad she married poorly. At least she now has the same qualifications as Hillary to be president, having been married to one. Actually, I would prefer Laura to Hillary as president, but I sure wouldn't want George W. in Cheney's slot.
I applaud Hillery for meeting with L. Bush to work together to presearve America's treasures.  It was above and beyond the call of duty, and shows how courageous Hillery is. To be able to stomach that bunch for the good of the country.  As for the hate some of you show toward Hillery, To me, it means she is important and are are afraid of her winning the election. But when  she does, it will be a huge step for women and cause for dancing in the steets!!! So get ready with your fireworks and balloons girls!!!
Men have had this country for hundreds of years and have turned it upside down and now it's time for the women to turn it right side up again.
             Hopeful,
