The scene at halftime

From NBC's Mark Murray
After the rules committee took its late lunch break, Clinton campaign representatives -- led by Harold Ickes -- held a press conference. Asked if the Clinton campaign was willing to make a concession like the Obama campaign made over Florida's delegation (allowing Clinton to net an extra 19 delegates), Ickes replied, "A concession? Give me a break."

Under that compromise, he said, Clinton would end up losing delegates (if you seat the Florida delegates fully).

Also during the break, committee member Donald Fowler, a Clinton supporter, told First Read that it's "better than 50-50" that a resolution is reached today. Fowler said that the tricky part, as Domenico posted earlier, is how to allocate those Michigan delegates.

*** UPDATE *** Former congressman David Bonior, who made the case for the Obama campaign on Michigan -- that the delegates should be split 50-50 -- told First Read that he was here to hopefully accept a decision of 50-50, not otherwise. But he acknowledged that the apportionment of Michigan's delegates is the problem right now for the committee.

Most on the committee, it seems, are willing to accepts half votes for Michigan and Florida and Florida appears all but done, including apportionment by the primary vote. That we've noted would net Clinton 19 pledged delegates out of the contest. We'll see if the Obama campaign is willing to concede somewhere between the 50-50 split (64-64 halved to 32-32) and the 69-59 (halved to 35.5-29.5) split floated by the Michigan Democratic Party. One thing's for certain, Ickes, Tina Flournoy and Clinton camp appear unwilling to budge.

It's a pretty big concession when Hillary gains a net of 19 votes from where she stands right now. Duh!

You know, from the position that Harold Ickes and all the other 12 Hillary supporters on the RBC voted for last time the RBC met.
Dear MSNBC (anyone and everyone):
You need to quit trying to shove Barack Obama down everyones throat!  Give it up!  It's ridiculous!   Stand up for what's right for the voters.  You are so paranoid about..."Oh no Barack Obama might not win"...that's all you care about.

My vote matters...my WHOLE vote matters!

Among the most precious rights and responsibilities of a citizen in a democracy is the right to vote.  My vote does count and if it doesn’t then all those who died for our right to vote, died in vain.

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
---A Hillary Clinton Supporter from Florida
Harold Ickes should be quiet. Initally, he agreed to strip the delegates in FL and MI. Second, this is different than the 2000 election in which votes for Al Gore was not counted. Some of the voting polls did not open on time etc as Donna Brazile said. The current situation is different in that FL and MI had an opportunity to hold another election and refused. This is their fault. Voters were not disenfranchised. It is important to put in consideration the thousands and millions of people who did not vote believing their votes did not count. Third, hillary does not have the popular vote. She is not counting the caucus states which is disenfranchsing voters in those states.
I am so enrage, why even televise it if you were going to cut away with your commentary....
Yeah,

It is better than 50-50 that Hillary Clinton is skinned muskrat right now and it is beginning to sink in.

The lunch break that lanced a running boil and changed an election.

Every moment is history, some are just more so.
If Ickes continues as present, Michigan and Florida may not be seated at all.

Ickes sounds like a little dog barking at passing cars. If this goes all the way to the convention, you'll find all of Hillary's supporters within the DNCC gone. And SD's that supported Hillary will find themselves in fighting for their political lives come re-election.

If Hillary wants to be embarrassed on national tv come August, so be it. Obama will be the nominee.

Obama 08
no superdelegates. They should have known better and didn't speak up and may have been complicit. that is where the punishment should be not the voters.
Hey MSNBC

Next time give an update that you won’t actually be covering the proceeding. Lets us know that is more important to interrupt coverage so we can hear your opinions, then we can turn to CSPAN and watch some real coverage of the “ACTUAL" proceeding
Whatever the decision (though I believe a 50/50 MI split is fair) BOTH candidates must publicly aggree to it on TV in writing and signed!

The Clinton camp is being disgustingly unmovable or willing to compromise on anything.  Haven't we seen this type of leadership before?
Not that it is anything new, but Chris Matthews and Nora O"Donnell both straight up lied and misrepresented Howard Dean"s Al Gore story. They claimed that Gore told him is was about what was good for the "party". The real quote by Gore, and as told by Dean, about what was good for the "Country".

I know these Chris and Nora are often far less than honest, but I felt this particular, blatant, and seemingly intentional, piece of BS had to be called on.

Harold Ickes is the black rotting heart of that campaign.  HOW DARE HE express outrage - HE VOTED FOR THIS STUPID PUNISHMENT.  Has he ever apologized for his vote?  Nope.  Just like Clinton never apologized for her Iraq vote.

"Give me a break."

No, we won't Harold, Hillary and the rest of your crew.  We've given you TOO MANY breaks.  You should have packed your bags and left in February...

Obama isn't the one blocking the MI delegate seating.  MI itself has offered solutions to the problem each of which has been REJECTED by the Clinton camp.  We know who, how, and what the obstacles to seating MI are and we know what their motivation is as well.

Clinton is looking for an excuse to take this to the convention floor.  She doesn't care how much she damages the Democratic party or its chances of winning the white house.

She must think a Democrat taking the whitehouse is inevitable.  Wait didn't she think something else was inevitable?
Ok. So we know who the real dividers of this country are. Clinton and Ickes. They were meant for each other.
Make your reservations, now.  We're gonna spend late August in Denver.
If Florida and Michigan end up without any delegates, the voters in those states will now know to blame Ickes and Clinton. They will no longer be deceived into blaming the Obama campaign.
