Reagan aide criticizes Palin pick

From MSNBC's Adam Verdugo
Ken Duberstein, former Republican chief of staff to President Reagan, told MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell today that the pick of Palin has undermined John McCain's credibility.

"What most Americans I think realize is that you don't offer a job, let alone the vice presidency, to a person after one job interview," Duberstein said. "Even at McDonalds you're interviewed three times before you're given a job."

Duberstein joins a list of prominent Republicans to criticize McCain's running mate pick -- including former Secretaries of State Colin Powell, who endorsed Barack Obama, and Lawrence Eagleburger, who is a McCain supporter.

It was later reported that Duberstein will vote for Obama.

yes we can
Palin.  kinda like a scud.  at first glance looks pretty good, but the closer you get the uglier she is.  (and beauty isn't just about looks folks...)

Reagan's chief of staff isn't voting McCain.  how devastating is that?  Wasn't McCain one of Ronnie's favorites?  oh, just until he left his wife for cindy and showed how ugly he is too...
Duberstein to vote Obama. That will make a lot of reaganites cry.
Good for you Ken!
Go Obama/Biden 08&12
Duberstein is certainly onto something.  I am beginning to think the Republican calculator is completely broken AND they do, in fact, plan on 'stealing this election'.  I was just on www.realclearpolitics.com and I just do not see a path for McCain, other than theft.

People, we have to be diligent in our efforts, document everything and make sure your vote is cast and counted ACCURATELY.  We will never forget Florida, it was sealed in the books as a 518 vote difference when we all know THOUSANDS of voters were purged from the rolls and hundreds more hasseled.  If you believe in Democracy, take no chances this year.

“…Republicans are going to become IRREVELANT !!”  MSierra, SF (Sent Friday, October 31, 2008 12:14 PM)

I actually have a button that says, “Republicans are IrrElephant!”  Made me laugh.
^^^^^
“Palin: Get your kids off the public scene!!  Do you actually need that big of a crutch and why aren't they in school like all the other kids across the nation?”  Kim, MN (Sent Friday, October 31, 2008 12:22 PM)

Kim, I heard this the other day and it made me laugh.  “When she leaves them at home, they end up pregnant.”  Okay, don’t get all robo-vicious on me.  It was meant to be humorous.  I agree that Trig the Prop baby should be bonding and imprinting in a ‘normal’ environment.  Very odd that she has made her children the central theme of her campaigning.  I believe I read that she intentionally used her 6 year old at the hockey game, etc.  She certainly doesn’t represent the typical Working Mom.  If I brought my kids to work or even on a job interview, I’m sure I would get a “Thanks but No Thanks”.  It was great for the convention; but not reasonable parenting.  Of course, that’s just my backwards, Midwestern “fake American” thoughts on it all.
Another Republican criticizes Palin... We can't be surprised can we? It was the worst VP Pick in modern history. Someone in McCain's camp should have seen this coming a long time ago.

Only those willing to be dishonest with the American people will say Palin is qualified--even to be VP.  Forget about CIC.  The pundits (Pat Buchanen for example) have sold their credibility in this election.
Stick a fork in Palin - she's done.   What a total moron..!!  She is not the future of the REpig party - when she goes head to head with other REpigs in a primary.., they will chew her and spit her out like a plug of stanky tobacco....
I must agrees she doesnt seem like a good vice president she needs to stay home and care for her kids and husband. She doesnt have a plan for this economy all she does is complain about Obama
My sentiments exactly! Had McCain taken a thougtful approach to this very important decision, perhaps he would have come to the right choice. But this is what McCain has shown us lately-reactive decisions. That is one reason I don't have great faith in him as Commander-in Chief. At the beginning of this general election campaign, I thought I could feel good about  whichever man won. Not anymore! McCain has disappointed, angered and worried me with each passing day. I really wish he didn't let it come to this.
And, out of curiosity, just HOW many Republicans is that now?  Defecting because of Palin?  How many Democrats have defected (sorry no joe, no bo, nj - but I am not counting Wendy Buttons)?

This thing is as good as over, put a fork in it and let's all give Thanks!

Happy Halloween to my many friends here, donna - good to see you back (been thinking about your dad) and Nashville Fan, how is your grandpa?  Mark Seattle, really miss you!  Too many to count, Wednesday will be a major 'withdrawal' depression.  Did anyone catch this on Newsweek?  http://www.newsweek.com/id/166535

too true, come on Tuesday - no early voting for me!
The guy makes a serious point.  I've said before I wouldn't have such an issue with voting McCain if he represented my best interest, but the minute he chose Palin after not having really vetted her, his ratings in my book went down. McCain showed me he doesn't have the right judgement.  At this point, McCain would do well to work on getting some of his credibility back....In regards to his Palin pick - He should have lost the zero and got himself a hero !  if he had, it could be a completely different race today.
Yeah, but at McDonalds you have to be able to make  change and all Sarah has to do is talk about it.

Fries with that mooseburger?
Seriously, Johnny Mc's and the Right Wing Crew are the only ones who still think this insufferable bimbo was a good choice.
Eagleburger's wife must be tied in a basement somewhere after seeing him backtracking on Fox news.  He acted like someone had a gun on him from off camera.  It was ridiculous.  I didn't mean it, Palin is fabulous.  I am stupid.  Wow, what they heck does McCain have on that guy???
Ken Duberstein, now too is speaking non- facetiously. Sarah, he doesn't think you're one of the sharper tools in the toolbox!

Mostly everyone gets it except you. Don't watch Fox news (McCain’s Headquarter); because Rupert Murdoch will blur the lines of distinction between reality and delusion to misled you Sarah.  National Security requires a lot more than sleeping with the enemy (your husband Todd, former Alaskan Independence Party member, until you became VP candidate).

BTW: You can Larry Eagleburger, former Colin Powell aide, to failing, inexperienced, list  too.
You and Joe the so-called patriotic plumber don't have a clue about security or economy.

Beverly, the choice/change maker
Vote EARLY for self and country if you have not vote Nov  4th
Vote Obama/Biden; I did.
Hahaha! McCain, your friends are deserting you left and right. We gladly welcome them!!

Your pick of Palin was horrendous! I would have never voted for you, however, I, like many of your colleauges then your pick of Palin is in poor taste. That's like me applying for a job as CEO off the street with no background.
Johm McCain is surly and erratic and Sarah Palin is not ready!
John McCain dishonored America by picking Palin.  She is not qualified to be VP and in picking her,McCain showed the nation he is not qualified to be President.  He did not put Country First.

Sarah Palin dishonored America by accepting McCain'f offer.  She did not put Country First.

The joke that McCain and Palin have been saying is that they are a couple of Mavericks.  Mavericks need someone to marverick against - mavericks are not leaders.
John MCain has to be held accountable for foisting this asinine Veep choice on the American public. No one, has vetted this idiot and until that time, why is she being allowed any opinion ...period. Or maybe she finally came up with that crystallizing moment in her political resume when she could answer that unnerving question...uhhh...."what newspapers does she read"!!!

Aside from giving interviews to right wing radicals Hannity and Hewitt) that kiss her butt and give her slow pitch, soft ball questions, that ANY NEOPHYTE could answer, she's been scripted and shielded to keep her true identity as someone with out a brain from the voting public at large. I dare, the McCain Campaign to allow this dolt to venture out, un-chaperoned, unscripted and see how she would fare.....we all know the answer to that one, so at least between the rest of us and Sarah Palin we'd at least have one answer between us.....

In the world of politics for this high of office, in the instance of an unprepared for question...you have to at least sound intelligent, coherent...not some rambling knit wit trying to assemble random talking points that aren't relevant to the initial question, which she is precisely what Palin has done when any legitimate newsperson has interviewed her....she's in WAAAAYYYYY over her head and a $150,000.00 wardrobe isn't going to change her intellectual capacity. It's one thing to have a legitimate candidate question the opposition's qualifications, views, accomplishments, etc.,etc.... but to have the likes of this moron spouting innuendos is pathetic. I predict this will be one of the main reason's that McCain and his rabble of Carl Rovian hit men are going down in flames....Hero my ass....he deserves what he's going to get in the massive embarrassment he’ll receive in this election....
John McCain?  Credibility?  When and where?
Ha ha!  Love the McDonald's quote.

Obama/Biden '08
We all know Palin is better than Bonehead Biden, who is being shut up by his own party. Palin has more real experience than Barack. She's dealt with the big boys but, on the other hand, Barack has dealt with crooks. MMMM, I still thinks she's more qualified than Obama and it's obvious that McCain is.

The problem is that libby's are too hell bent on getting Obama in that they actually can overlook his unbelievably scathing resume and all the nonsense that he really stands for.

Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.
Barack Obama, please make a stop in TUCSON, AZ.  I know you will draw a HUGE crowd.
Wow, this is HUGE! Palin has been comparing herself and McCain to Regan for months now. Now one of Regan's top advisers has chosen Obama over McCain? That has cinched it for me. I was quietly scared of her but now when the Republican insiders are joining the other side. I am really scared. I feel she was very much the wrong choice. She also seems to be in some serious hot water at home. That’s not what we need to start out with in he White House. I too will vote for Obama. Far less fear in that vote, thanks for publishing this story.
For those that still are considering voting for another four years of the republican government, ask yourself a few questions-
+ Is the US better today than it was in 2000?
+ Do you acknowledge McCain has confirmed he voted with Bush 90% of the time? And now, is showing the STRENGTH to bash Bush in the last few, desperate days of the campaign for doing a poor job?
+ Would Warren Buffet (one of the WORLD's most successful capitalists) back a Socialist?
+ Or, would that same man risk alienating the Republicans if he really didn't believe his country needed a change? After all, haven’t they done more to protect his interests than the Democrats?
+ Why would Colin Powell discard a lifetime of Republican support if he didn't feel his party had gone astray?  After all, his LIFE has been dedicated to protecting our rights and freedom!
+ Do you feel comfortable that the Republican party LIED to you and to the WORLD when they took us to war in Iraq?
+ Do you feel McCain demonstrated character and judgement as he bounced around the military as a womanizing, plane crashing fool before his tragic imprisonment in Nam?
+ Do you wonder if McCain has already shown his commitment to change by enlisting many, many top lobbyists within his campaign?
+ Are you amazed McCain has chosen a ridiculously inadequately prepared, uninformed as a running mate?
+ Are you disgusted that McCain has repeatedly lied and tried to create diversions from the core issues of our day?
+ Are you dismayed that McCain showed his character by dumping his first wife for a richer and more well connected partner, and now spends 40% of his advertising trashing the character of a man that is with his ONLY wife and children?

How can there be any question that we need to throw the McCain as far away from our government as possible before there is nothing left of our country and the awesome ideals it stands for?

GO OBAMA GO BIDEN
GO AWAY MCCAIN GO AWAY PALIN
What?  You mean Palin was actually interviewed by McCain's staff?  I thought they just handed her a script to read and said "Read it with FEEELING!", to which she replied, "You betcha!" and the job was hers.

This guy's got to be dreaming. Sarah Palin has been more popular than John McCain.
