McCain: 3,704 miles

Posted: Tuesday, November 04, 2008 9:35 AM by Mark Murray

Per NBC/NJ’s Adam Aigner-Treworgy, McCain flew 3,704 miles yesterday. He made seven campaign stops -- first to Tampa, then on to Blountville, TN, then on to Pittsburgh, then on to Indianapolis, IN, then on to Roswell, NM, then Henderson, NV, and finally to Prescott, AZ.

In Prescott, Aigner-Treworgy adds, McCain held his event on the steps of the Yavapai County Court House, where Barry Goldwater launched several of his campaigns. While introducing him, Cindy McCain got a little choked up saying how proud she was of her husband, and McCain seemed to get pretty emotional too towards the end of his 10-minute, unscripted remarks when he thanked Arizonans for giving him the chance to sere.

McCain also told his favorite story about the curse of Arizona -- recounting that Mo Udall used to ask sympathy for the people of Arizona for being maybe the only state where mothers can't tell their children that one day they can grow up to be president. He said that tomorrow he was going to reverse that trend.

And he said that it had been a long journey to win his party's nomination, but he knows that he can win if only his supporters can get out the vote.

Video: Republican presidential candidate John McCain will make final stops in New Mexico and Colorado after voting in his home state of Arizona. NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell reports.

The Boston Globe’s Milligan writes, "True, the math looks pretty daunting for the Arizona senator as voters head to the polls today. On paper, it seems improbable, with Democrat Barack Obama leading in every major national poll, as well as in numerous battleground states expected to determine the winner. But impossible? There have been greater comebacks. The Red Sox recovered from a three-game deficit in 2004 to win four games straight against the Yankees, as Sox star pitcher Curt Schilling, a McCain supporter, noted in Peterborough, N.H., on Sunday as he stumped with the GOP nominee. And while Obama has run a relatively error-free campaign, political specialists say, 'almost perfect' doesn't guarantee the big prize."

It's not over until the proverbial fat lady sings.

I give it about 13 hours...

HE CAN TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD, BUT HE WILL "NEVER" BE OUR PRESIDENT.HE HAS TAKEN THE "LOW" ROAD, ALONG WITH THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. THE PARTY IS "OVER" FOLKS !
I didn't think these two ruthless people had the ability to get choked up. You would not think after all the lies and low down campaign tricks they have done, they would have emotions.
Erratic and flailing to the end...
He flew 3,704 miles to talk to roughly the same number of voters.
McNasty wasted a lot of oil yesterday running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.  What a despicable desperate old man he was whining about everything.  What a joke that he and his little Twisted Sister were whining about coal and something that Obama said over 9 months ago as if it was brand new.  Time to put coal in their stockings today by voting for Obama/Biden!

I'm really sick and tired of hearing "Simpleton" Sarah whining about the left wing agenda and us liberals being soft on terrorism.  Only a fool would believe Osama bin Laden when he says that Iraq was the central front on the war on terror.  Only a fool would cling to what Osama says as being true.  Only a fool wouldn't see that Osama wants the central front as far away from him as possible.  Only a fool would have tried to box him in at Tora Bora with a three sided box and outsource our dirty work to a bunch of Osama's pals.  That's why "Fool" Bush never brought justice to Osama and why "Fool" McCain has no plan to get him.

Win one in Memorial to "Toot"!
Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
McCain is toast.
Uh John, you weren't actually born in Arizona. you were a Florida resident until Cindy Lou came along and strutted her stuff for you and lured you back to her home state.
McCain and Palin have proven themselves as reformers and will take on Washington's elite as McCain always has .... and Palin is energy smart and busted the oil monopoly in Alaska, giving rebates back to the citizens.

Obama is green and as Hillary said, "McCain has all the experience and knows the system and what he's doing. The only thing Barack did was give a speech."

Biden has too many memory lapses and makes stupid statements which have not been in Obama's best interest.
Last chance to vote McCain, who is better qualified.
The reason Obama has run a 'relatively error-free' campaign is that the media have covered for him in the most blatantly partisan way I have ever seen.

Had the news that he promises to bankrupt the coal industry come out before the debates, (the statements were made in January), McCain could have hammered him with them; heck, if they had been released at the time, Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic nominee.

So, please, spare me the 'Mr. Wonderful' shlock.  For all we know, Obama shares his cocaine with the reporters on his plane.  That may explain the coverage.

Today, the voters get their say, and I have a feeling that many of the Fourth Estate are in for a surprise.

That's the hope I can believe in.
On any given day, McCain doesn't know where the hell he is.  Imagine what yesterday must have been like for him.  Sheesh.
After Obama's landslide tonight, I guess the old coot will have plenty of time to rest in his 7 - 8 homes.
"I'm not happy unless we are in a constant state of war.  If elected, I'll make sure we are always fighting somewhere." - John McCain.
I know McCain said he wanted to end this race having a good time, Thats all well and good but I am not having a good time, the Rev. Wright ad has been on my T.V. for 16 hours, running over and over again, This is S.C. fools, you will carry S.C.  For me you republicans make me sick, I will never again vote for a republican again, I will vote for a crack head on the corner before I vote for one of you disgusting
so called condervatives. The filth this race has brought to the light should make everyone in their right mind think about where you want to lead our great nation. Shame on you all

Obama/Biden
This morning I cast my vote for "That One", and I have to say that it is the first time since I've been eligible to vote in a presidential election (1984) that I actually felt good about my vote.  Before today I always felt as though I was either voting for the lesser of two evils, or voting party line by default.  This time I feel as though I'm voting FOR someone instead of AGAINST someone.  Even bigger, I'm voting for SOMETHING that I can actually believe in.  While I'm not so naieve as to believe that Obama is the end-all be-all answer to what's wrong with this country, I do believe that he offers more than the blind partisanship that has gripped this country for the past 8 years (at least).  For once, I'm actually PROUD of my vote.

GET OFF YOUR ASS AND VOTE!

Obama/Biden '08!

No joe, et al,
GOD's will must prevail, and it will prevail today.  Whatever that is.
By the way, on that coal thing, I listened to the entire tape.  THE REST OF IT had Obama saying, more info which in no way suggests he's going to bankrupt the coal industry.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/11/palin-coal-1.html

... remarks Obama made elsewhere in the interview about coal’s role in the nation’s energy future.
“But this notion of no coal, I think, is an illusion,” he says. “Because the fact of the matter is, is that right now we are getting a lot of our energy from coal. And China is building a coal-powered plant once a week. So what we have to do, then, is we have to figure out how can we use coal without emitting greenhouse gases and carbon. ... The point is, if we set rigorous standards for the allowable emissions, then we can allow the market to determine, and technology and entrepreneurs to pursue, what's the best approach to take.”

And, oh by the way, McCain, on vidoetap, championed something in June 2001 which was repudiated as costing 24,000 jobs.  Where? in OHIO.

Looks like McCain on June 21, 2005, from the Senate floor, pushed legislation where Sen. Voinovich said McCain’s position would put coal industry out of business.  There is even an estimate of 24,000 lost jobs in state of Ohio.
