I believe they have exactly the right amount of rope to hang themselves.  Petty, small minds are not advancing the debate,...just bickering to hear themselves speak.  I've got the popcorn popped and am enjoying the 'show'.  2010 will be a cake walk.

With record unemployment continuing, the lies of Obama, Pelosi and Reid will catch up to them about this time next year, right in the middle of the mid-term elections. Obama can't keep bragging about how wonderful his programs are when unemployment reaches double-digits (And those Obama's numbers!). The duck-and-cover blame Bush crowd will be running for the high grass next year as taxes are increased to cover up for the massive mistakes of the Obama administration. The only friend Obama will have then will be Bo the water dog.

There's a story on Huffington Post that Chuck Todd will be getting his own weekend MSNBC program. My oh my. What great news. Happy for you Chuck!

btw, I love Ed's new program. He puts a lot of thought into his program and talks about issues very rarely brought up in the course of a day. But I have to admit that I do "mute" the right wingers. I just can't stand listening to them any longer. I tried but I can't do it. Those days are loooooooong gone.

The President is working to cut waste in the government and chart a new course for our country.

He has unveiled the first phase of the plan with the current Defense budget - do you support that?

He will do the same for Social Security, Health care, and many other areas of the budget, but it will take time.

That is why doomsday scenarios based on PAST PRACTICES do not scare me.  Because the Obama Administration is going to make the changes necessary to balance the budget and leave American stronger and more competitive.

Where were all these doomsday predictions when the Bush Administration was in office? Suddenly everyone can add again, it's amazing . . . I thought the "fairytale" was the one where we could fight two wars and cut taxes!

The Dopes of Nope just never learn do they?  The NRCC is shooting itself in the foot with this clueless dishonest ad that targets the Democrats for saving our economy with the stimulus bill.  A lot more people are going to benefit from the stimulus than not and the repugnant ones are just making fools of themselves (granted that's not difficult for them) before a grateful Mainstream America.  Every Democrat who voted for the stimulus deserves a badge for bravery and intelligence, the repugnant ones the booby prize of getting none of the credit as our economy turns around from the mess the repugnant ones caused.

Just more trash from the Irrelevant Elephants that we Liberals and Democrats will remember come 2010.  The voters will be thanking Democrats for standing behind Barack, Nancy and Harry by reelecting them while thanking the dopes of nope with election defeat after election defeat.

The question is, "How effective will these ads be?"  Answer, not very effective. Why?  The ads are negative, same-ole, same-ole crap.  Actually they will desensitize future negative ads. That's all the GOP has to offer...Negative ads.

Atleast we Democrats have a Zack like Space voting to help our economy recover than the repugnant ones who have a Zack Wimp who's just another dope of nope!

In Obama We Trust!

Very good! The economy would have turned around without any government help. Now we will be saddled with all this government spending. Just as Democrats continuously do. Here in NJ they are trying to furlough employees a few days a week. What does that do? Absolutely nothing because these people are still on the pay roll. Pensions are unfunded and Corzine keeps defering pension payments.

Next year when it is budget time they will have the same problem. I'd like to point everyone to President Bush's address to Congress days after 9/11 and this describes why Republicans spent more money. Democrats also agreed.

The same people on these posts who thought it was great that the democrats were doing attack ads a little while ago are now criticizing the republicans for doing attack ads.

It's hard to blame Obama for the deficit unless you are a total idiot. The new spending the Democrats are proposing are an investment in the future of this country. Hopefully it will be an investment that pays off and everyone in the country, not just the fat cats at the top, will benefit. Still, only God can bless America at this stage.

Scare tactics? Like, California having the highest taxes in the country? Those kind of 'scare tactics'? Or that California taxpayers are picking up the social program costs for more then 10 million illegal aliens? Those 'scare tactics'. Or that many former California taxpayers now live in tents? Those 'scare tactics'? Those are some fairly real scare tactics we're talking about here.

Keep spending though. And keep an eye on that light at the end of the tunnel.

Not sure how this will work in states like Ohio, PA, NY where unemployment is high and the stimulus viewed as necessary, it could come across as more proof they're the GOParty of No.  They intentionally forgot that much of that deficit is their fault and the result of two unfunded (no tax increases), unfinished wars all on their watch.  None of us like deficits but some of us are realists and know Government spending is crucial and necessary right now.  In his statement, Ken Spain says it will burden the middle class for years to come--why only the middle class?  Ahh, that's right, the GOP thinks raising taxes on the rich and famous is inappropriate.  

 Let the NRCC blow. They had their chance and all they produced was stains in their underwear.

Anyone with half a brain, and that sums up all republicans and the obama bashers here, should know that unemployment is what is called a lagging economic indicator, as opposed to a leading economic indicator, meaning, that unemployment usually follows all the other bad economic things, and is therefore, one of the last things to improve. Hence, the it'll get worse before its gets better rule when it comes to unemployment figures.

Here's my outlook.  First of all, nobody is watching political ads right now.  That goes for either party lobbing attacks.  People have a serious case of campaign fatigue after the last two years.  This is a giant waste of money because any "shock value" these ads could have come with will have completely worn off by 2010 election time.

Secondly, can any "conservative" please tell me why you hate Nancy Pelosi so much?  I mean, aside from her being the Speaker of the House, I can't think of anything she's done that's so egregious for the right wing.  She's powerful and all, but it's not like she's authored anything controversial, especially on the major battlegrounds of the culture wars.  I didn't like Tom DeLay because he called anyone who disagreed with him unAmerican and unpatriotic.  But Nancy hasn't done that.  I'm just confused I guess.

And the blame game continues. When will people realize the political culture is to blame, insiders and former lobbyist policing each other, "loyalty for sale" signs upon our Representatives doors.  ....But we can fix it. The US Constitution empowers the people of each state to petition their government for a redress of grievances. If people of each state petitioned their government to enact an 'ETHICS'law, a law which prohibits a candidate for,or public elected official who's office is charged with representing a particular constituency from accepting campaign finances from any constituents of areas the particular public office is not empowered to represent. ..... In essence, politicians would be forced to bring back the 'soap boxes', spend more time among constituents and more time on the job.... A Representative is a Representative whether at the local level, in Congress or court of law, loyalty means everything.

These people would have a lot more credibility if they had come up with any solutions other than more of what got us into this situation in the first place, and if they had made this much fuss when Bush was spending our childrens' future.  People don't mention that not only did bush leave us 3 Trillion in debt, but he also spent the hundreds of billion surplus that Clinton left.

Why is Chuck Todd still around? He got the presidential  election polls so wrong, he was claiming to close to call, on the eve on election Tues. and it turned out to be a landslide. He's a joke.

Too funny. Democrats have been telling us that for 50 years, and look what we have to show with all the previous "investments". Education is in the toliet. Debt is now going to double in four years. Social Security is broke, Medicare is too.

there is a way for the federal government to impact the number of people who have health insurance at minimal cost to taxpayers.

Congress could enact law making it legal for groups to form for the purpose of buying health insurance at the more affordable group rate, rather than the individual rate.  For example, I have many friends who have small businesses, two or three employees.  If they could form groups under the auspices of, say, the local Chamber of Commerce, there would be several hundred people in that group-more than enough to buy group insurance through any insurer.  Most of these business owners cover themselves, and not their employees, because the cost is too high.  A reduced group rate premium would allow them to offer that benefit, and, believe me, they would take advantage of the opportunity, as they lose employees as soon as those employees have enough experience to gain employment in a larger firm that offers benefits.

Legislation could also be enacted to allow residents to 'buy in' to their local government plans.  This, too, would be cost effective, as it would be at the group rate.

Mandating coverage would not work, as no one should be forced to pay for something they do not want.  However, there are many who find individual rates too onerous.  

Neither of these plans would cost the taxpayers much, but would reduce the number of working people without insurance.  Moreover, it would have an effect on the overall insurance rates, as demand would increase on a product which does not have a supply problem.

Another piece of legislation the federal government could enact would place limits on 'mandated coverage'.  From state to state, these mandates increase the cost of coverage for families by forcing them to buy coverage they neither want nor desire.  I don't need fertility treatment, nor do I desire it, but my state mandates that I pay for it.  These mandates further erode the number of people who carry medical insurance.  If the federal government set a limit on mandates for coverage, so that only basic coverage was mandated, it would be up to policyholders to decide if they wanted 'extras' in their coverage-and pay the premiums for them.

None of these ideas would cost the taxpayers much, and would have an immediate effect on the number of covered individuals.

Unfortunately, common sense is not that common in D.C.

I hope you get this worked up about spending on stuff like wars and military systems.  A few quick facts.  First of all, more than 90% of the debt has been added by three presidents: Reagan, GHW Bush, and GW Bush.  The last time we had a Democratic President for two terms, the deficit was completely eliminated and we were paying down the debt.  The difference between GOP spending and Democratic spending is that Democrats spend money here to build things and fix broken systems while Republicans spend money overseas to blow things up and invade our "enemies" and then say we can't afford to fix the problems at home.

The reason the educational system is broken and so are social security, medicare, etc. is because Bush spent all the money we had fighting wars and building bombs and then said we didn't have the money to properly reform education or substantively fix the entitlement programs.  It's kinda like going on a really long vacation, like a cruise or something, then telling your kids you can't afford to send them to school or take them to the dentist because you spent all your money on mai tais and pina coladas.
We're in agreement on that.  That's why I'm so confused when I hear the right-wing scream about how evil Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are.  They totally buckled to President Bush on just about every issue, and I can't think of one controversial bill they forced through.

The republicans who are suddenly fiscally conscious, forget that they started 2 wars, 1 unnecessary and 1 with no plan; then cut taxes for those who need it the least.  All we got out of their spending spree was dead patriots or injured soldiers with a lifetime of problems.  The democrats are spending money on things like roads, bridges, schools that will be there once the spending is done.  Like they will listen.

Why are the Republicans wasting such precious time, effort and money with these ads? They are really having a problem. The reason being they have no lead-ership. So they waste time and money with these non-sense ads like they have something better to offer. It would be different if they bought their plans to the table along with the cost factor. Istead, the republicans are steady trying to influence their votes into an outrage against what the Democrats and President Obama are trying to acheive. What have the republicans done lately for the American people? It appears the republicans do not care about the American people and the crisis Americans are facing. The republicans are more concern with their party and themselves that they can't see pass their noses. Why would they waste their time, Americans time and their money with such an stupid ad; is this the best they can do. Why don't they go to work? After all, they are receiving an salary and should work for it. There are more qualified people that will get the work done instead of just drawing salaries. Isn't that what the republicans are doing now; it appears they aren't doing anything else.

The Republicans are contributing to the economy through this kind of ad. The ad agency makes money, the TV stations make money when they run the ad. Whether the ad is effective or not those folks get paid. If they want to waste their money now on this kind of BS and not save if for 2010 is their business. That will be less for them when they'll need it most. It is like the Coleman thing..Wasting money that could better be spent elsewhere while lawyers laugh all the way to the bank. For those who claim fiscal responsibility the GOP sure wastes a lot of money.

Must be really tough to be a Republican right now.  No leadership, no vision, no ideas.  Just no.

We will wait to see. You seem to have forgotten that the state of unemployment did not start two months ago. It started 8 years ago as the GOP dumped more and more of the taxpayer's money into the hands of those who invested it everywhere but in the USA. The GOP and the past administration is the cause of the state we are in. I will never forget how the GOP and George Bush squandered my money, lied repeatedly, and sold us out to the banks in China. Then they proceeded to lie through the campaign and tell us how great the economy was. The ad simply continues a way of looking at the world that has done nothing good for the country. I will NEVER trust a GOP candidate again. Any promissing GOP candidate who is honest would be better off going independant.
