Bill Clinton to raise money for Maloney

From NBC's Mark Murray
First Read has confirmed that former President Bill Clinton will host a fundraiser for New York Rep. Carolyn Maloney -- which is certainly interesting given that Maloney is challenging incumbent Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

A Clinton source insists that this doesn't mean he's endorsing Maloney, and says the former president is raising money for her "as a way of saying thanks for Maloney's help" during Hillary's failed 2008 presidential bid.

Bill Clinton, in fact, helped raise money for Gillibrand earlier this year.

Still, the news that Clinton is assisting Maloney here probably isn't welcome news to the Obama administration (which includes Clinton's wife) and establishment Democrats backing Gillibrand.

Looks like Bill Clinton is playing both sides of the fence but he's just repaying loyal supporters for their support.  I doubt that the money Bill raises for Carol will tip the scales for her but it will make that race more interesting than before.

"California is progressive in social policy and tax policy, and they are issuing IOU's.  How long until the Feds have to do the same?"
Tom Cooper, Germantown MD

Hey Tom - While California is more progressive in social issues we do not have a progressive tax system any longer.  The conservatives have screwed up our budgeting process with their supermajority nonsense for raising taxes and we have a repugnant one governor who protects himself and his rich and greedy Tinseltown pals from paying higher taxes.  Now our state has to issue IOU's, Arnold's Funny Money, because he and a small minority of repugnant ones refuse to raise taxes on the rich and greedy.  Nope all they did was raise the sales tax which is a regressive tax that screws the poor and middle classes.  All Arnold and the repugnant ones want to do is balance the budget on the backs of those least able to afford it.  Thankfully we have President Obama who will not allow our country to go bankrupt from the bushwhacked economy he inherited.

In Arnold's Funny Money We Don't Trust!
Recall Arnold Now!
Isn't Clinton that guy who cheated on his wife or something, you know like Sanford?
>> A Clinton source insists that this doesn't mean

>> president is raising money for her "

Isn't Democratic double speak fun?
Bill is just cruising for the babes again. Nothing new to see here.
From another post...

>>>Don't take my word for it.  Go to the Quinnipiac site, and read it for yourselves.  First Read's selective reporting notwithstanding, Obama care does not have much wind behind its sails.

I did, and it appears that you've been doing some "selective reporting" of your own.  Here are some passages you conveniently left out of your dissertation.

>>>Voters say 52 - 34 percent that most Americans do not get good value in the cost and quality of health care. But these same voters say 70 - 25 percent that they personally get good value in the cost and quality of their health care, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll of more than 3,000 voters nationwide finds.

>>>Voters trust President Obama more than Republicans in Congress 53 - 33 percent to handle health care.

>>>55 - 40 percent support limiting tax deductions for those earning more than $250,000 to finance a health-care program

>>>Support 73 - 24 percent requiring employers to help pay health insurance for workers

>>>Believe 52 - 42 percent that a public plan will "keep private insurance companies honest

>>>"Americans say they want the government more involved in health care, but not in the health care received by themselves or their families. Seven in ten say they are getting good value for the health care they receive, but only a third think their friends, neighbors and countrymen are faring as well," said Brown.

Yeah, I can cherry-pick facts to support my opinions too.  But you're right.  We should look at the entire poll and form our own opinions, and since you failed to provide a link to your source (as you usually do) I'll rectify.

Bill doesn't know what he's doing anymore. Venereal disease tends to do that to you.
Bill's selection crieria: Which ones hotter?
Thanks for that update where Vale pointed out the obvious truth that the repugnant ones didn't want to help save or create jobs, they just wanted to mollify their rich and greedy base so they could accumulate more wealth while the rest of us languish in their bushwhacked economy.  They should stop their incessant whining and try to work on thinking up some useful ideas to save and create jobs, like getting rid of their jobs outsourcing tax credit.

I sure love how Jon Stewart points out what slime fox and freaks are, like Glenn Henpecked having on some neonazi clown who is advocating that Osama bin Laden strike here in the USA with WMD.  Yeah these neofacists think that Osama bin Laden is now their Savior who will save us from Obama.  With false patriots like these we sure don't need any enemies.

In Jon Stewart We Trust!
In Glenn Henpecked We Bust!
Maloney helped Clinton HRC and now Bill is returning the favor...big deal.
Governor Patterson made a mistake by picking Gillibrand.  It really is hard to undo an initial mistake. For now, I take Bill at his word that he is simply saying, "thank you Ms Maloney for helping Hillary".  Now and then a cigar is simply a cigar and should be accepted as such. (No more comments about cigars.)
When will California pay it's bills?
Jawillie- I provided the source.  I do not understand the laziness involved in providing 'links'.  Look it up yourself.

As to Clinton helping Maloney-Obama and Hillary have a tenuous relationship at best.  Rumor has it that she will resign from what has been, for her, a very unsatisfying role.  She has less input and autonomy than other Secretaries of State; Obama has no interest in her input, and thus, she has none.  It is rumored that she will run for Governor, although I have seen nothing in print on it-perhaps it is a trial balloon?

I tend to give no credence at all to the rumor that she will challenge Obama for the democratic nomination, but stranger things have happened.  After all, Ted Kennedy was on the record denying that he would challenge Carter in '80; when Carter's polls dropped, Kennedy 'changed his mind'.  So, maybe Hillary is watching and weighing her options.  It sure sounds like Warren Buffet would endorse her this time around.
Eric the idiot: Hey Tom - While California is more progressive in social issues we do not have a progressive tax system any longer.  The conservatives have screwed up our budgeting process with their supermajority nonsense for raising taxes and we have a repugnant one governor.

Place is crawling with liberals and a RINO governor, and who does Eric blame?
So now a friend helping a friend is a big fat hairy deal. As far as Clinton helping either candidate I say SO WHAT!!
Maloney helped Clinton HRC and now Bill is returning the favor...big deal.

And unlike Obama, Clinton is actually doing something, imagine that.
No big surprises here, really.  Clinton's raising money for a veteran NY Democrat over his wife's moderate, Paterson-backed successor.
Would you do anything differently?

Beverly in Chicago - Well that’s what happened with tax revenues drive by the Bushwhacker. America lost trillions and can't pay her bills either.
Tax revenues increased after Bush's tax cuts. Thanks for playing though.

I’ve often thought Bill would be the nemeses.

Hey Guy
Can you back that up with some statistics?

Jawillie and the rest of my fellow libs Happy 4th.
FR Happy 4th; let's all enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Whatever you do;  forget about that stupid Hannity Tree.
Jawille, I love my country even more so now because the hands that once picked cotton are now picking policies to make this a more perfect union.
Also Confucianism rationalizes a man cannot get rich watching his neighbor even if he watches him day and night.
I hope you all got the Hannity Liberty Tree joke. Hannity watches republican outdated m figures. Ha Ha Ha!

Bill Clinton: Still looking for Monica.
