MoveOn targets recalcitrant Blue Dogs

As the House Energy and Commerce Committee today tries to vote out its health-care bill, liberal MoveOn has issued a threat to conservative Blue Dogs on the committee: If you vote against the bill, we'll run a radio ad against you.

The deal that was cut earlier this week between House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman and the Blue Dogs included four of the committee's seven Blue Dogs.

Here's a script of the MoveOn radio ad...

Today in [STATE], a patient lost insurance coverage for medical care she needs...

Hospital bills will eat up another families' savings…

and a small business owner is worried about affording health benefits for his employees.

But when Congressman [XXX] recently had a chance to help fix our health care crisis, he voted no.

Instead of helping [STATE] families get more affordable, quality health care choices, Congressman [XXXX] sided with the special interests and insurance companies

If you believe it's time for quality health care every American can afford, call Congressman XXXX at 202-XXX-XXXX and ask him why he doesn't.

I wish all Americans would call their representatives and ask why they are against a public option, and why Congress gets free government-run healthcare for LIFE if it's so terrible? I would like to see Congress have to get Social Security and have to get health insurance like the rest of us.

MoveOn has every right to lambaste the "blue dogs", but it will ring hollow to the average citizen. True conservatives try to control spending, and the "blue dogs" are the closest thing we have to true conservatives in Washington. They are not the radical morons being led by Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter, Palin, and Boehner. Those people have no clue what is happening. The "blue dogs" will help keep the spending on programs from getting too big, while the GOP will just try to shut down everything. MoveOn should concentrate their efforts on zapping the "birthers", the neo-cons, the "religious right" fanatics, and the criminals of the previous administration, and leave the moderating voices of the "blue dogs" alone.

Moon Dawg - Do you even know what ACORN does? Did you know John McCain's name appeared on the organizations letterhead during the last election? Is there something wrong about registering qualified people to vote? The fact they probably register more Democrats than Republicans is that there are more Democrats than Republicans. That they were paid per registration form was stupid, I admit. That encouraged illegitimate registrations, but do you really think a canvasser would turn down a commission because the person was a Republican? True democracy calls for every person be a part of the process, not just those YOU agree with.

The Blue Dogs are just whores. They have received more from the health care cartel than many Republicans. Their motive is as clear as their conscience is cloudy. Shame on all of you and if I was a vindictive person I would wish those close to you would suffer the tragedy many of your constituents without health insurance are undergoing as we speak...

Blue Dogs need to ditch the democrat/communist party and become what they really are......closet republicans in red states.By now these conservative democrats have to realize how leftist Obama and his cronies are. Obama's philosophy of nationalizing everything he can is ample evidence of his core beliefs. The Clunker bill is another instance of how stupid and cold dems can be when it comes to the lower economic classes. The $4500 rebate for new high MPG cars is a going to remove a whole bunch of perfectly good used cars that are in the affordability range of poorer americans. What's more the remaining used cars will become more expensive because of the basic rule of supply and demand further exacerbating the poorer buyers' problem. For some reason democrats cannot grasp this most basic economic principle which really drives all economic activity. Being the dunces they are they actually believe they can manipulate the economy to the benefit of the country. If that were the case the Soviet Union would be supreme instead of its landing on the s--t heap of history. The Clunker bill is just another example of dems creating unintended consequences that hurt americans. Truely unbelievable.

all americans who support single payer health care should show their support by turning their flashers/emergency lights on their auto during daylight hours while driving on every wednesday thru august.
this visual support will get nationwide coverage mainly because the police wont like it one bit but if everyone joins in what can they do? the negative effect will slower traffic, but the positive effect just mind blowing because by the third wednesday of august you would have to be totally uncool not to join in the show of support. it would give all americans a way to show they can join in something to affect a change in this country.

Public opinion is against another government run entitlement program funded with tax dollars. Social security is going down the drain. What is Mr.Hussien Obama's plan for that?? Nothing. He will let it die! But wants 1 trillion a year for a new program, Get real...
And the healthcare that the congress gets is not what Obama is offering you. You will never get that quality of care under Obamacare. NEVER!
And yes congress should get the same retirement benifits, healthcare, etc that the rest of us get. Only then would they look out for our benifits like they look out for thier own.
