Well that’s it… Now that we’ve seen ‘The Week Ahead’ the weekend has officially started!

I want to say thanks again to Mark, Domenico & Ali for ‘stepping it’ up around here today!  Reminded me of the good old days…

My question for you this week is:  Who’s going to be filling in for Ed Schultz while he’s on vacation next week?  Could it possibly be another ‘feisty’ redhead whose last name begins with ‘O’?  Now… that would be sweet!

Most polls say that most Americans (80%+ I believe) are satisfied with their own insurance (even though a majority of them also believe the system is broken). However, I would hazard a guess that most of these people rarely pay more than routine visits to their doctor, if at all.  Here are two questions for you.

1.) How confident are these people that their insurance will cover them in the event of a serious or chronic condition (heart failure, cancer, diabeties, serious accident)?

2.) How many people who've had to rely on their insurance to pay for serious medical issues are satisfied with the coverage?  How satisfied are they?

As always, great work this week.  To my fellow libs, we have our marching orders.  Get in the face of the Blue Dogs and let them know that we can vote them OUT of office just as easily as we voted them IN.  And to the righties here, do yourselves and your brains a favor and read a book.  ANY book besides the Bible, that is.

My wife and I both just got real nice promotions. About another 30K per year. Yeah, yeah I know, "how can you say such a thing when so many are unemployed"
Simple, I say it every morning at 6am when my wife get up and go to work at our non union jobs and work for 8-10 hours every day and not call in sick, or arrive late.
As I saw on one vehicle last week "You don't see many Obama bumber stickers on cars driving TO work"
I have a Chevy truck 16 years old, a Mercedes Benz, 17 years old, and a Volvo 6 years old.  
We won’t go near the cash for clunkers deal, even if we qualified.  Detroit and the UAW got themselves into this mess, let them not the tax payers get them out of it.  Of course I would love to get a new Mercedes.  
In our circle of friends, about 10 couples, we are all making about 125-175K per year. None of us have any intentions of buying much of anything for the next three years, or however long it takes to get rid of the idiot in the White house right now.  
We may have lost the election last year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still vote with our pocket books, and trust me on this, there are a lot of people in our economic bracket who feel the same way.
Anyway, that is our "week ahead"

When commenting on the Deathers why doesn't someone mention that most hospitals request a Living Will when you are admitted to hospital.. How dumb are we if we believe the Obama administration wants to get old of all of us Old folks. I am one of the old coots.

Reform is needed in many areas.  
Medicaid provides medical care for teenage girls - only if they are pregnant.  Aid to dependent children provides monthly pay for all the children born out of wedlock ... so much for promoting and rewarding family values. Welfare should be work fare and I venture to say many of us see disability fraud and need to find an easy way to know how to report it.

 ... and what ever happened to that balanced budget amendment.  Did I dream that?  

 ... cash for clunkers ... should take any car, running or not, and why not ELIMINATE sales tax, property tax and premium full coverage insurance rate jump they'll incur for new car sales.  That might be more appealing to consumers. After all - the definition of a clunker is :    1.  an old machine in poor repair; esp., a noisy, dilapidated automobile
  2. a thing that is worthless, inferior, unsuccessful, etc.

It would be REALLY interesting to compare the hourly wages of jobs lost to those created. Does this exist somewhere?  

I heard today that the 100 Million budget cut Obama is asking to be made amounts to six one thousands of one percent of the budget deficit.  THAT IS NOTHING.  Who's going to bail out the government when we can't pay the interest on the debt!  

Margaret Thatcher once said something like, "The trouble with Socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money".  We might want to remember this going forward.

A philosophy of "The more you make - the more we take" doesn't foster excelling and achievement.  

Dear First Read,

I have been so fraustrated with TV lately.  It's as if we are not being told what we need to know.  I am so grateful for public TV.  But the misinformation that is coming out of all the news stories on nearly all the stations is ridiculous.  Even on stations like MSNBC, (which is the only station I prefer to watch on cable for politics) more time is spent alerting us to the misinformation than should be.

I have began to wonder if all the stations are ran by the same people or maybe they have some sort of deal to not get at the heart of real arguments.  Why is it that on the weekend when most people gather around their TV sets.  MSNBC and has no politics and serious issues at all.  CNN is doing reruns of their stories or reporting as little real issues as possible.  But FOX has all weekend to present their slant on issues & and politics.  And then everyone is surprised during the week when misinformation and conspiracy theories rule the airwaves and all other channels have to talk about all that misinformation again and again, just to let us know how wrong it is.
