GOP watch: Palin hits Fed, Obama

Posted: Wednesday, September 23, 2009 9:15 AM by Domenico Montanaro
Filed Under: ,

“Former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin used her first trip to Asia to attack the Federal Reserve for creating asset bubbles and encouraging excessive risk-taking that hurt working-class Americans,” Bloomberg News says. “In a wide-ranging, 80-minute speech to fund managers in Hong Kong today, Palin spoke about issues ranging from Alaskan fishing to energy independence to U.S.-Sino ties. She repeated calls for 'market-oriented' health-care reform and said governments shouldn’t regulate executive compensation.”

More: "The Fed and the government sent a message to companies that 'the bigger that you are, the more problems that you get yourself into, the more likely the government is to bail you out,' Palin said in the closed door speech, according to a tape of the event given to Bloomberg News. 'Of course the little guys are left out then. We’re left holding the bag, all the moms and pops all over America.'"

Palin also criticized Obama's decision to impose duties on Chinese tires, but had some harsh words for China: “We simply cannot turn a blind eye to China’s policies and actions that could undermine international peace and security. China has some 1,000 missiles aimed at Taiwan and no serious observer believes that it poses a military threat to Beijing,” she said. “Those same Chinese forces made our friends in Japan and Australia kinda nervous. China provides support for some of the most questionable regimes from Sudan to Burma to Zimbabwe.” Palin said her comments did not show any hostility towards China. “We simply want them to rise responsibly,” she said.

Politico's Smith says former McCain campaign foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann advised Palin on her speech and was with her in Hong Kong.

"House Minority Whip Eric Cantor thinks House Speaker Nancy Pelosi 'is in another world' if she believes raucous anti-health-reform demonstrations could lead to violence -- and he says he hasn’t personally witnessed racist comments during a summer of passionate town hall demonstrations," Politico writes. And Cantor, who is Jewish, said on the day Obama met with Netanyahu and Abbas that he doesn't think Obama is a "true friend" of Israel. He also lamented that Obama wasn't coordinating strategy on Afghanistan with Congressional Republicans, who Cantor said are key to overcoming Democratic hurdles.”

After his "Wild Thing" performance on Dancing with the Stars, Tom DeLay Tweeted: "Last night was so much fun! The adrenalin [sic] started pumping and the crowd got into it which was so exciting. And Cheryl was fantastic #dwts"

Wait, don't the Republicans go ballistic when someone is critical of the United States on foreign soil?  Shouldn't we expect an outpouring of Republican rage over treason against the idiot Palin?  Or will they further demonstrate the hypocrites that they are?
PALIN'S BIG HIT

Sarah Palin is all over Obama in Asia, and we love it.

More critical than the box of rocks the Dems keep throwing at the elderly, the rich and the middle class.

Some of us met Palin and McCain on a Ohio campaign stop. Hopefully she won't let up on our radical prez.

Full Moon
Pat in Ohio
Palomino ... and the rest.

OH, my aching ass.  This idiot is over there talking about what China should do/not do in relation to international security?  Admonishes  them to "rise responsibley".
Maybe as an added boost to the credibility of the US, we can send Larry the Cable guy, or Joe the Plumber to Russia so they can chew on them, too.
keep it up Sara we know who caused the housing market to  collapse the dems who pushed the banks to loan money to people who had no way to pay it back and now the middle class is paying a big price for it------give the dems hell every chance you get
I always find it amusing when the conservatives define duties on imports as being anti trade except when it comes to protecting their home turf of course..silly sarah should ask the delegations from SC and Georgia why they want really high tariffs and quotas on peanuts and sugar...or she could have ended the high tariffs and quotas on imported salmon and king crab that benefits alaskans...
Are you High of just dizzy from the spin.Sarha Fail-in specking for 80 minutes, must have been a hour intermission. And get the info straight would ya.Randy Scheunemann wrote the speech,he is her speech writer, must be ashamed to admit it.To think these asians would pay this woman of little depth, and so uninformed,to try to talk about subjects she has no knowledge in.ecnomoy must be good in asia, they are throwing there money  at this foolish fraud.
Since some of you'll think this cute was she campaigning on socialist, communism but that aside she is not a representitive of nothing not even Alaska see these so called suceeder's need to realize their veiws are only for those who don't like America so she mighthave been in the right place now that goes to show antone she is in it for herself running nothing and saying nothing that a sad excuse for a woman scorned over there trying to get another bridge to no-where and her husband should be upset at her pimpimg herself out like that.
The "great internationalist", who can see Russia from her back yard, is telling other countries what they should and should not do? I'm surprised they didn't give her the bum's rush right out of there.

When others have criticized the US in other countries the right wing radical extremists went ballistic. "Traitor", they yelled! "Off with their heads", they demanded. Yet, today one of their own goes to another country and does exactly the same thing. Perhaps the Chihuahua gang of one can register a little bit of indignation over what Sara Palin is doing unless he/she wants to remain now and forever a hypocrit.
No wonder other countries think that we are vain.  Having Palin speak is like having an elementary school teacher explain physics at a University.  As for her saying tht China should act responsible, wow that's a hoot.  She was so responsible she left her job with (2) years to go and is one of the most unintelligent women I have ever heard speak.  I will go further and say that she gives women a bad name.  The ONLY reason she was popular with people like Pat Buchannon is because they were thinking with their crotches instead of their brains!
More jobs lost thanks to Obama. More unsafe Chinese made products unloaded on the US market.

Thanks for putting America first Barack!
The tens of millions of unemployed appreciate this unemployment benefit extension but what they REALLY want are jobs.

The jobs Obama promised in his $900 billion Stimulus, the bailout of GM, Chrysler, AIG and Citibank and all those shovel ready local infrastructure and road construction projects that never materialized.

Now Obama gets up and says unemployment will continue to rise into NEXT YEAR!

Where are the 3 million "green" jobs?

Where are the 300,000 to 600,000 jobs that were supposed to be created this summer?

It is all a pack of lies!

In 2010 and 2012 all the Dems and many Republicans are going to get their clock cleaned in the election. ACORN or no ACORN, the Dems are in for a massive rout!

Look at the US Dept of Labor U-6 unemployment stats, it almost 17%!
Palin criticized the President on FOREIGN SOIL?!?!?!?!?!?

Where are the Republicans who condemned Obama AND the Dixie Chicks?

Oh, I forgot . . . there hypocrits!
Just let Palin Go!  She should be in the entertainment section, if anything at all!
How did this happen? She doesn't speak for Americans. She first lost and than gave up her job. She is a loser and a quiter. She is not by any means the typical America. She knows nothing ....doh!
For all of you criticizing Obama for the loss of jobs....Are you all delusional?  Are your short-term memories totally shot-guess it is all that teabags.

This recession started under GW Bush.  Any person who has any grasp of economics and what happens in a recession knows that jobs come back last.  So quit your whining and let's see where this economy goes in the next year.

If you were honest, and put your rightwing politics aside, you would notice that the country leading indicators are all going in the right direction. The economy is so much better off than it was only 7 months ago.

Yes, there are a lot of people still suffering from Republican de-regulation and poor choices by the banks.  However, I do not hear much anymore from the GOP establishment, except the so-called "tea-baggers" of the dangers of President Obama's immedicate economic plan.  Seems like they also agree with leading economists in this country that we are heading in the right direction.
Tom Kaye:

I criticized the Dixie Chicks because I didn't agree with them.

You're free to criticize Palin for whatever she says.  Go for it.  Obama has been criticized in many quarters for the tariff against China.  The one thing missing from the Dixie Chicks is that they didn't criticize anything but George Bush.  Palin dished on China pretty good right in their back yard.

Nothing hypocritical about that.  Free speech is always subject to free response. We're not required to dislike Palin just because you do.
So let me get this straight.  You kick off your 2012 Election Swing by giving a speech in China.  Was it taped or don't I get to enjoy the screech in her voice today?  They could have called it..."The Huntress Gets Captured by the Game".  I still think Huckabee has the best chance at winning the REP Nomination in 2012.
