GOP leaders slam Dems on economy

from NBC's Luke Russert
After their weekly caucus meeting on Capitol Hill, the GOP leadership attacked President Obama and Congressional Democrats for not doing enough to bolster the floundering U.S. economy.

Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) said, “The American people want to see this Congress begin to focus on policies that will create economic growth and opportunities for working families small businesses and family farms.”

Pence continued, “The American people are tired of runaway federal spending, borrowing, bailouts and take-overs and Republican solutions will be built on the fundamental strength of a free market economy.”

Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) decried the emphasis on healthcare reform saying, “While Washington continues to focus in on this big government plan and healthcare debate, the American people are wondering, where are the jobs?”

When asked by a reporter if recent stock market gains amounted to a rebounding economy, Boehner responded,

“Anybody who thinks the stock market is an indicator of where the economy is today, they are totally not talking to the American people. The American people understand that unemployment is almost at 10%, they understand that they might be next. So this concern about the economy is real. So while the stock market is reacting, I think it is a reaction to the dramatic decline we saw late last year…The American people are not looking at the stock market in terms of putting food on the table, they want jobs and they want them now.”

On a day where the GOP sought to focus on the economy, Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) delivered the party line on the recently passed Baucus bill regarding healthcare reform in the Senate.

“The Baucus Bill has passed we got groups, members of both sides of the aisle and the other body, groups such as the unions running full page ads against the bill, warning Americans that this bill will add to their healthcare cost. The 84% Americans that have insurance will experience a significant increase to their health insurance if this Baucus Bill were to pass and be signed into law,” Cantor said.

Look for the GOP to continue to refer to the U.S. economy as unemployment hovers around 10%.

Isn't this what got us into this entire mess?

The Party of NO insists that they have the answer, when they have NOTHING!  Eight years of ruling and following Bush/Cheney got us where we are now.

RepubliKLANS need to man-up....Own Your Mistakes!

Deny, Lie, and Cover-up!
GOP LEADERS SLAM DEMS ON ECONOMY
______________

Yeah SO??? *yawn*

Another day another 'slam'... what else is new?

How would we be able to get through the day without hearing MORE WHINE coming from the GEENOPEE?

It would be like a day without sunshine ;0)

Maybe if they channeled all their 'slam's into some ideas or solutions - people might start to pay attention to them again.. just a thought!

Until then... carry on GEENOPEE & SLAM AWAY!
That's why we need a public option, Rep. Cantor! Even Price-Waterhouse backed away from their report on the increase in cost - but I'm sure the insurance companies will find a way to raise our rates as they always do.
reading between the lines, the GOP wants you to pay attention that the car is in the ditch, just don't remember that the driver "W" was drunk and asleep at the wheel.   oh and you don't need any health insurance to cover the injuries from being driven into the ditch..just ask the hospital and insurance for some hand outs...haha

Wa, wa, wa, wa, wa. What about Price Waterhouse Eric?

Feisty:
Happy to oblige. These Bush-whacker supporters are insulting. They'll eventually learn that our silence isn't due to stupidity. We just refuse to defend BS or for that matter buy into theirs.
Just curious but how does the Baucus Bill cover the unemployed?  How is portability managed?
Hit 'em when they're up
Hit 'em when they're down
If only Barry Hussein would create all those jobs he promised, the economy wouldn't be so bad.
Didn't realize the circus was in Dc today, but i see that all the clowns of the party of dopes, are out of there cages today.Pence,Boner, and Can'tor, sounds like the stooges,You have Pence play Moe,you have Boner playing Larry, and Can'tor playing Curlie,And the latest spew for you. These three are like watching paint dry,and twice as dull, couldn't ya send out Steel he has so much more comic relief for us.And as for the jobs 20 million out of work,17 million on The repubilklan party's watch,so lets do the math, lost by Bush,Three million during the Obama watch, all of this since 2007.so will the clowns of the party please go back into there cages and shut the F=up
Once again the Republifascists want to ignore their deep involvement in bringing about the current mess. They seem to forget it was their clutching to the arrogant belief in free market fundamentals that brought us to the brink of major financial collapse and a $31 trillion global reverse transference of wealth that began on Wall Street brought on by deceptive trading and lying about the security of investments - which has Republican ideological fingerprints smeared all over it.  Having the Republicans offering better solutions for economic recovery is like having wife beaters running a Spouse Abuse Shelter.  No thank you!
Anita keeps parroting, over and over, the 7.2% unemployement when Bush left office.

She doesn't mention that the whole time the Republicans were in control, unemployment was trending down.  When the Democrats had control the last two years, that's when unemployment went to 7.2%.
Pence, Boehner and all these other two faced hyprocrites have the unmitigated nerve to say anything about Democrats when they said NOTHING about Bush's tax cuts for the wlthy, billions spent in Iraq, doubling the debt and Medicare perscription part D bonaza for insurance companies. They have such concerns about us taxpayors. Peddle that garbage to your base no ones else believes it.
Blah, blah, blah, blah.

Has Mike Pence put any numbers into that Republican budget yet?

Why does the media keep giving these clowns a mic, they have nothing to say!
please post this correction:

It's like Bill Maher said last week.  Today's conservatives can't concentrate on more than one thing at a time with any degree of consistancy.  That's why they always claim that Obama's "doing too much" while at the same time claim he's done nothing.  Whenever they lose one battle, they quickly switch to some other nonsense.  They jump from one inconsistency to another, and constantly twist themselves in knots trying to keep up.  With each passing day they make themselves look more and more like the pathetic party they are.  It's time for the few sane people left in the GOP to pull up stakes and form a new third party so that we will have some kind of choice in 2012.

Hmmmm- Funny how perpetrators always want to return to the scene of the crime.
Is Rep. Pence living in a GOP Fantasyland???   It is the Republican's wish for a total "free market system" that produced this quagmire we are now beginning to climb out of based on the President's economic plan.
Cooks, is this al you have??? Where are the jobs. Bush left office with 7.2% of what we're experiencing...lets see...

Yes, lets see. Now after 10 months of Obama the overall unemployment is at 17.0%.

Aug '09 to Sept '09 new car sales have dropped 41%. Time for another Obama corporate welfare bailout to the Asian car manufacturers, the primariy winners in Cash For Clunkers.

Obama has done NOTHING to create non-government jobs. Unemployment is RISING under Obama. Blaming Bush is getting a little tiresome.

Excellent Post on the Energy/Climate article!

KUDOS!  **applauds**
The party that starts wars without budgeting for them. A party that has had a recession every time a republican president has been elected. The party that only cares about corporate profits over jobs. The troll that attacks the unemployment numbers and blames Obama. I have 2 facts for you. Guess who's budget we are using right now. That's right, we are still under W's budget through this fiscal year. So numnuts, you attack Obama, but we are still using W's budget through this fiscal year. Here is another fact for the unemployment troll, when did this recession start. WAIT, see my earlier statement showing every republican president has has a recession during their 4 year term, it started November 2007. I know , I know, these pesky facts really ruin your unabated hatred of Obama. Too attack someone with false facts, lies, and misinformnation, is the sign of a coward.  That is why anyone that knowingly lies to back up a political point is a pure yellow bellied coward. To scared to debate and talk issues, these cowards post garbage to deflect or chenge the subject. One thing is for sure, republicans are to afraid to debate, to afraid to compromise, to afraid to serve the military, to afraid to stand up and be accountable, to afraid to ever accept responsibility, and finely republicans are very afraid of facts and education. Republicans promote and deamnd ignorance, stupidity, easily manipulated, no free thought, always follow party over country, allows attack the messenger, never the message, and always post and run and hide. Sounds like the perfect descripiton of cowards.

The Titanic made it all the way across the ocean; until it hit that darn iceberg.  What is your point exactly?

(PS.  In case you don't do nuance, BUSH policies are the iceberg in this little metaphor).
Boehner and Pence are all dressed up and no where to go.  It must be tough being a House Republican these days.  They are seeing HCR as a losing proposition and they would like to change the subject. i.e. the economy and jobs.  If there is a turn-around in jobs by next Labor Day, the GOP will be feeling a big hurt.

Getting a HCR bill passed through the Senate Finance Committee is a big deal.  Its significance is that the process is moving along.  The content is almost meaningless. Brokering a the Kennedy bill with the Finance Committee bill will be important to watch.

There will be a public option, but initially not “pure”.  There could be a “trigger” or the Feds may leave the public option open to the states.  Almost all states do not want to go into the health insurance business, so the public option will, in most cases revert back to the Federal government.

HCR will be on the President’s desk and signed by Christmas.  That will be a wonderful Christmas gift for the uninsured and underinsured.
TV ads are currently trying to sell Senator Jon Kyl as being sincere in protecting Medicare and as wanting to get health care reform right, trying to present him as being conscientious for the average American.  … Why?  Kyl’s history clearly demonstrates his stubborn and arrogant strong support for everything favoring Special Interests and as just being a ‘puppet’ for the powerful and influential few, always being persistent in boldly repeating their scripted subterfuge, word for word.  Are they starting their manipulation of public opinion to try to sell him so he can be one of their primary ‘puppets’, aggressively doing their bidding?  If you recognize just how drastic the costs were to the average American with the Bush-Cheney ‘puppet’ presidency, you better hope we never see the likes of Palin-Kyl.  Talk about gross dishonesty, self-indulgence, arrogance and being sociopathic without any conscience, either one could make Bush look like an altar-boy.

Agent Orange would make a good Larry!

Or better yet:

Cantor = The Tin Man
Agent Orange = The Cowardly Lion
Pence = Scarecrow

All that & their little dog 'TOTO' too... :0)

Not sure what is harder, the iceberg, or your skull.
When ALL the bills and all the IOUs finally come due on Obie's socialist plunge, let's then see how his parasitic sucker fish enjoy the ride.  Make no mistake about it, that day is coming, and patience waiting for the leftists to be screwed will be amply rewarded. At this point, we are well anchored and don't really give a damn...except, that is, for all those citizens who have tried to achieve the American dream only to be violated by this Marxist bastard.  Sadistic revenge can be so sweet when visited upon the heads of leftists. The usual vulgar mouthed leftist scum can shove any of their usual filthy rhetoric into their hate America intestines and die from perforation and paralytic ileus.
Summers added that three major initiatives under Bush -- tax cuts, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a Medicare prescription drug bill -- are projected to add $6 trillion to the nation's deficits."

Ok, John Boehner, Eric Cantor waiting 1 day after this story came out will not make it go away, so i have copyed this from yesterday.
you have the nerve to come out to day and slam the democrats about the economey, but in my mind i will not let this story from yeaterday go away.

Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) decried the emphasis on healthcare reform saying, “While Washington continues to focus in on this big government plan and healthcare debate, the American people are wondering, where are the jobs?”

John where are the job from those tax cuts former president bush and you passed 8 years, 1.2 trillion dollars, where are they. we found out yesterday that things former president bush did will add 6 trillion to the deficets, why no mention on this one, why because your full of crap. from now on i'm going to post this information about the deficets. 6 trillion
and you have to nerve to talk shit the next day,
sir, your in the 24 hour news cycle. yeaterdays news will not go away like in the past.

6 trillion dollars, sir where are the jobs from the tax cuts, where is our return on your spending!!
after seeing you have put us in the hole by 6 trillion, the focus is not going to be on your bitching about president Obama spending, man what the hell about you, you republicans have spent us in to a hole, and now that we have found out, (24 hour news cycle) when the hell are you 2 John Boehner, Eric Cantor going to shut the hell up and face up to your screw ups. your out of control spending, health care is going to cost 800 billion over 10 years, that is a drop in the bucket compaired to your
1.2 trillion in tax cuts
800 billion on the war in iraq (based upon lies)
prescription drug program (god know who much)
the war in Afghanistan (god know who much)
Mr John Boehner, Mr Eric Cantor stop saying NO the the american people and say yes to the facts that you guys F----d everything up and your trying to cover your ass, your trying to deflect attention away from your screw up and on to a new president who has been in for 9 months.

what a sick and tired piece of crap your too are!!!!!

like i said last week, give lawmakers drug test, because these guys are acting like there on crack!!!!
they say one thing to day but don't want to face reality about yesterday!!!!!
The NFL owners do what they can to even keep the felons on the field. Remember dog-killer Michael Vick? He's back. And so goes the hypocrisy to keep Rush out.  ~ Bad Chihuahua

Chihuahua and the rest of the moon boys ~ I'm a typical liberal hypocrite, but not about this ... if the NFL wants Rush Limbaugh as an owner, I don't care.  They're welcome to him, and in that case, they will be the hypocrites.  But just for the record, the difference between Rush and Michael Vick is that Michael Vick is evidently repentant.  That'll be the day when we see repentance from Rush Limbaugh.

Barry ~ I agree that having to blame Bush for everything is getting tiresome.  When he does something we can celebrate, be sure to copy me on the memo.

There ... see how easy it is to get along with liberals?
In my small town in AZ the unemployment rate actually dropped .3 percent. Something is beginning to happen!!!!
The economy is slowly showing signs of a turn around. The GOP doesn't like it. They were largely responsible for the mess and have no viable ideas to clean it up. Their major proposal, more tax cuts for the wealthy answer to every problem, isn't going to solve the problem. An old adage says you have to spend money to make money. In this case we are having to do that to recover from the mess li'l Georgie left us with. He had done that to every venture he has ever gotten into. Unfortunately this affects many more people than his Arbusto failure and the others.
Daddy can't bail him out and so he dumps on his succesor. I doubt John McCain could have done any better and probably would have done worse than Obama has done. The haters will still continue even when the economy is back and roaring. They will find something to hate Obama for. That is what they are all about.
See it's already starting I'm a Demorcrat and I agree with Cantor on the Baucus bill;; See Prseident Obama your own campaign word's one voice can make noise and a Public option is setting the tone fired up and ready to go''
John Boehner on Jobs
When asked by a reporter what solutions he has for creating jobs, Boehner responded, No, no I don’t have any ideas I’m just here to arm wave. It’s Obama’s job to find jobs for you guys.
Feisty,,,,I think we can agree, that if fox was smart these three would have there own cartoon programs on Saturday mornings. They act like a$$ clowns, the look like circus freaks, and smell like the back side of Dan Patch. They could be called the Smellyassfreaks morning cartoon hour.
Ahh, the GOP's next topic--the economy.  Ok boys, where's your big ideas to solve it?  More tax cuts, more money for big corporations?  Most of the lost jobs were under Bush's watch.  The GOP's idea of fiscal responsibility created this mess and we aren't about to listen your rewrite of history.  You gotta wonder about a party that can spend us into oblivion, cut taxes while fighting two wars, add 7 trillion to the medicare burden with their unfunded GOP Rx drug plan and now suddenly they are concerned about the fact that medicare is in trouble and about job losses.  Party first, country last--GOP in a nutshell.  It was the likes of Pence, Boehner, Grassley, and their buddies who didn't give one thought to passing a trillion in tax cuts for wealthy and adding the cost to the debt, or about passing the GOP Rx legislation without funding knowing it would have a detrimental impact on medicare--or maybe that was the GOP's plan all along--make medicare fail so they can continue their stance against government health care programs.  Now they flap their arms and chirp in protest thinking we will listen; thanks but no thanks, their credibility disappeared years ago.
She doesn't mention that the whole time the Republicans were in control, unemployment was trending down.  When the Democrats had control the last two years, that's when unemployment went to 7.2%.

But Mr. Fact Checker - the taxes were cut for the rich so that it will trickle down to us. How did that work for you? Not so well.
You gotta' be kiddin' me!
They screw up the economy...and then blame someone else?
Okay, Let's listen to them one more time just in case they have something relevant to say... focus on jobs?  Okay, But doesn't it cost money to "stimulate" jobs?  What?... We only need a tax break for the rich to fix it all?  But doesn't it cost more for a tax break than for an "incentive" like cash for clunkers (per stimulated economic dollar).  Yes?

Okay, we listened.  Go back to sleep.
It must be nice to be completely ignorant of human behavior, logic, and economics of scale. Man i wish i could be that ignorant. It would solve alot of my stress.
This is rich.  If they really cared about the American people, they would try to help instead of just saying no, no, no.  This isn't Nancy Regan's war on drugs (no disrespect).  All they do is bitch, moan, and groan.  How about some serious ideas, and not cardboard cutouts.

Hey, how about that Michael Steele - What Up?  The sad thing is, the fool really thinks that is a good idea.  Personally, I find it offensive.  Oh yeah, I forgot, we are talking about the Republicans.
WHAT A SURPRISE !!!
The Republicans don't like our Economic fix ?

Weren't they in charge for 6 of the last 87 years ?
Didn't THEY RUN UP DEFICITS for 6 of the last 8 years ?

Didn't THEY enable Bush to DOUBLE THE NATIONAL DEBT ??
Not deficit, the NATIONAL DEBT !!

Didn't they CUT TAXES on the RICH while running two wars and a new Social Security Drug Benefit ??

I wonder how the republicans will get us out of the Bush Recession ?
(Hint: Tax cuts for the RICH)
On the economy, Dow Jones @ 10,000 means 2 trillion $ increase in 401 K's & pocket change since BO took office. This compares with a 8 year 3 trillion $ loss during Gw's admin. It means new federal tax revenues for capital gains, which will help to reduce the deficit. 2nd quarter (BO's first full quarter in office) GDP performance was 600% better than Q1 (negative 6% growth vs. negative 1% growth) stimulus has given small business huge incentive (first 250,000 expensible), and the low income/ tax cut and extended unemployment benefits have been the best stimulant and helped to reduce the (desperation) crime stats that usually occur during deep unemployment.  All in all.......the best Presidential economic performance in my lifetime (65).
Say, Boner, what is your plan for creating new jobs?
I'd be interested to know if Ohio people really value your knowledge or think of you as a giant big mouth like the rest of us.
You didn't answer the question:  Where. Are. The. Jobs.?????
