When he came home, he was dedicated to out-perform his father and grandfather. He says we can grow the economy, but will not tell us how. He says he will cut govt waste and if he follows the lead on this by Gov Palin, we will not fund necessary science (ie the fruit fly flub in Pittsburgh). He says he knows how to win in Iraq and I'm pretty sure you can't win an occupation.
I DO hope for a stronger America and have already voted for "that one"....
His whole campaing has been silly and now the cherry on that will be a cameo on SNL. Indeed I would rather my president be focused on the issues instead of a skit three days before election day. No one I know for a minute questions John McCain's service to our country. I have the utmost respect for him and everyone who has served our country, whether it's military or government service or any other kind of service.
But the election is not about what you have done already. It is about what you will do in the future. And in that respect, I know more about where Obama plans on taking our country that I do McCain.
We all know and understand that the country cannot continue on the path it's currently on and expect our lives to improve. No one can deny John McCain's service to his country. He has been a war hero and was, at one time, a good Senator.
But that war was 40 years ago, and it proved to be a debacle for the United States. And he stopped being a good Senator when he began his latest campaign for President, a campaign characterized by an over-all sell out to the far right wing of the Republican/Christian Conservative wing of the party.
Perhaps he was a maverick at one time, but he has proven to be just a shill for the rabid element of the right at this point, as evidenced by his choice of Palin for V.P. Clearly, he has sold his political soul.

McCain will look back at this election and chastise himself for compromising his beliefs, which are closer to Obama's than he can now currently admit.
