Sometimes I wonder why I read these posts because they often make me angry. As for Pam -- an old friend of mine – she’s just expressing the frustration that many of us are feeling about how some issues are playing out. I’m personally upset about single payer being excluded from the health care discussion. But effective government is about compromise and taking the heat for it, as someone (Harry Truman?) said. It appears that President Obama understands this, even if some liberals do not, and conservatives generally do not. Obama’s primary goal is to get things done, even if not ideally, rather than to become a martyr for lost causes. No percentage in that, for sure.

By the way, who SHOULD Obie be? “Unplanned” parenthood? Or is that just reserved for conservatives? If so, you can have it.

I have not seen the video (it doesn't make it through the workplace filter), so I will not comment on the video itself. However, I would like to ask some questions, please answer honestly:

* If a white male said that white males make better judges, would this be racism and/or sexism?

* If a hispanic female said that hispanic females make better judges, would this be racism and/or sexism?

* If a nominated person had earned an "yes" (or even a "possibly") to the above questions, is it not reasonable to investigate that prior to naming them as the next supreme court justice? This is not rejecting the nominated individual, just the request for vetting.

* How does asking these questions equate to racism on the part of the person asking the questions? If a conservative had said those comments, I would say the same thing. If a liberal questioned a conservative who said those things, I would support the question. For a justice of the supreme court, I'd support a liberal who would follow the constitution before a so-called conservative who would judge based on race, gender, or who would try to ligislate from the bench.

If these question offend you, think about why. Is your reaction any different than the so-called conservative Anna says can be manipulated easily? What about liberals who freak when simple questions are asked? Isn't it the same thing really?

Female? = no problem
Racist? = let's look into it before judging

When making judicial decisions you need a diverse group. Why do you think the SCOTUS is comprised of so many members. Why don't you try reading some of her opinions, and you'll get a better sense of the candidate. Instead of basing your entire conclusion of the candidate on a single, one-sentence remark made years ago.
