I read this blog everyday and enjoy. I have tried many, many times to comment, however, my messages never appear. I can spell, I think I have rational thought, I think my comments are appropriate to the statements of FR. Yet, I never get posted.

Cathy, nice thing about FR is they welcome everyone don’t get discouraged… if you read daily you’ll notice I try to hold Mark & Domenico’s feet to the fire – as for Chuck T he’s a big shot now… so poor Mark & Domenico are trying to hold it together…

Like they say here in Chicago there are two seasons… winter & construction and I like to think FR is temporarily under construction! Yes I’m l@@king at you two!

Awesome article over on HP by Vanity Fair on the Wasilla Chillbilly! Most definitely a keeper in case Klondike Barbie ever decides to take another run at POTUS! She is soooo far out of her league it’s not even funny!

Actually you look more comfortable in front of the camera than with the press corp. Move over David Gregory.

Our Troops:
Yesterday Pat addressed the troop pull-back. The Iraqis are celebrating our withdrawal. We, here in the US, should also be celebrating that many of the troops are standing-down. I don’t know why we are not. (celebrating) Instead we are focused on Sotomayor, gay rights, Sanford. None of these issues hold a candle to the sacrifices made by our troops.

Sanford:
He says he won’t resign. Politically speaking that is good for Democrats. Sanford and Senator Ensign are the new poster boys for the GOP. I’m hearing the word “women” as it pertains to Sanford. If this is true, I am thinking of the “I” word. No, not “infidelity”, though that may apply. “Impeachment” is the other “I” word.. BTW, Ensign should not fall under the radar. FR what’s up with him? Pun intended.

And I don't see a whole lot of coverage about how the Democrats distributed the final cap and tax bill at 3:00 in the morning with 300 pages worth of new amendments. Why are they voting on such big pieces of legislation BEFORE reading them?

What are the benefits of this bill? You say you understand it, so you must know. The costs are well laid out, and they are draconian, but where are the benefits laid out? At what rate will the earth cool because of this bill? Can't answer that question? Why not? That's the entire purpose of the bill, right?

This bill is only a stepping stone to the beginning of creating clean energy jobs and we have to start someplace. Of course we will see an increase in energy bills of roughly $25.00 dollars per house whole, but that is far less than the price we “will” pay for using fossil fuel as our primary source of energy. We’ve stymied our energy resources and our countries development potential, all for the sake of wealth and greed.

You say the cost is draconian. When in actuality they are less harsh than what we’ve done to our environment. Evidently you are one of those people that don’t believe that we are experiencing global warming and if you are then I’d like to sample some of what you’ve been taking; better yet I decline, because it has dulled your abilities of sound reasoning.

The less we depend on fossil fuels and foreign oil and start exploring other means of harnessing our natural resources, we will start to see an influx of new educational opportunities for our children in the areas of physics and science, from that new jobs. I don’t have first hand knowledge however, I am not lacking in common sense. I am “hopeful”, for the future of our children and our planet.

We are no longer in the 19th century yet we are still relying on 19th century energy dependency standards and technology, when we are actuality in the 21st century utilizing 21st century technology and energy dependency. Eventually, all nations will share and trade global resources, after all, this is a “global” issue and it will require global efforts to slow down the effects of”global” warming.

This bill is a step in the right direction and will slow down the effects of global warming. We were warned years ago when we tried to save the rain forest, but deception and greed destroyed it. BTW, I made several attempts to answer this on yesterday…

- By the American people in energy protesting against the war and energy trying to create the illusion of success in the face of massive casualties in pursuit of an at best unclear goal.

- By the U.S. Treasury in billions of dollars spent monthly on attempting to form a “democracy” that could survive without our guns in Baghdad, lining the pockets of “private contractors” with no bid contracts, and finally paying off former enemies to fight at our side.

- By our children, since we have spent almost a decade inserting ourselves where we were not needed, charging two wars against future generations, while simultaneously neglecting to invest in education, health care, and the future industries that will decide if America continues to lead the world, or if we join the long list of formerly great empires that collapsed under their own weight.

After giving our EVERYTHING in Iraq, we now find ourselves strangely numb to it all.

Here is hoping that if we agree on nothing else, ALL AMERICANS will MAKE SURE that EVERY SOLDIER returning from Iraq, whether they are mangled physically, emotionally, or both, is treated like the long suffering HERO that they are.

I would expect an increase in violence, after all the Taliban would prefer that our troops remain in Iraq because they are aware that it continues to deplete our financial resources. After all that was the plan from them in the beginning once our forces were there. The saddest thing is that Cheney-Bush allowed our nation to be duped due to their greed and irresponsibility. The Iraq war was the war of lie and the war of choice. The victory of America is to withdraw our forces and return our servicemen and women home to their families.

One, regarding Gitmo, he said the Obama administration would absolutely go to Congress first to get approval of holding detainees indefinitely. Two, Gibbs pledged repeal of “Don't Ask, Don't Tell” by the time Obama runs for re-election.

No comment on Gitmo detainees, because the majority of them being innocent of crimes are being released.
On DADT, it will be repealed and that is what's most important. The President did explain that there were a set of complicated laws involved that required close observation...

On Honduras vs. Iran-you have got to be kidding. To say that the 'world community' was not on board with condemning the Iranian 'non-election' and abuse of protesters is a stretch that even the most ardent Obama worshippers would have trouble making. Sarkozy, Merkel, Brown-any of those names ring any bells? They were out in front with strong condemnations. Of couse, they lead only little countries-France, Germany, England-so of course their words do not matter.

The real difference in Obama's rhetoric this time is that he agrees with Chavez, and the attempt by the deposed president to turn Honduras into another worker's paridise is right up his alley. Forget the fact that the Honduras Supreme Court ruled that the president was calling for an unconstitutional referendum not once, but twice, and ordered him to stop. Forget that he was attempting, like Chavez, to give himself lifetime tenure. Forget that the ELECTED vice president is serving out the term of office, that elections are going ahead as scheduled for the fall, and a new, elected president will be in office in January. Forget all of that at your peril.

I, for one, can see Obama trying to pull the same thing. Don't believe me? Okay, Obama worshippers. However, I will be storing your responses and playing them back to you when he loses his re election bid, and tries to pull a Chavez in this country.

By the way, Nashville fan-I tried to respond to your response yesterday on the CBO. You proved my point, although you did not realize it. The CBO projects where spending and output will take us in a period of time. If we do not stop this out of control spending, Obama will bankrupt this nation. What's the difference between Honduras and Iran?

Iran had an ELECTION, however flawed. The dispute they are having is about the results of that election, and they have processes set up to deal with that internally, however flawed.

Honduras had a military coup. No votes to count, just the guys with guns deciding they wanted a new President.

Big difference, although the police crackdown in Iran led to a similar feel ultimately. The United States has condemned the use of violence to circumvent the established process in both cases.

So the primary difference is just the media spin, as ususal.

I find it comical that so many "commentators" are crediting President Bush with establishing the withdrawal date in the Status of Forces Agreement when he was basically dragged kicking and screaming into signing it after the Iraqi government sided with then candidate Obama about the timeline to withdraw from Iraq.

The Bush Administration put out a story about the Iraqi Prime Minister being "mistranslated" and started using the phrase "time horizon" to get around the fact that they were agreeing to candidate Obama's deadline date after spending YEARS saying that would be a sign of weakness.

Uh huh.

Revisionist history is rising to the level of sport these days . . . there should be some type of prize.

Its astounding to me that it took the McCain campaign about two months to know that Sarah Palin was not a suitable candidate for VP. As soon as she opened her mouth it was evident she was going to crash and burn. Which tells me as has been said before, she was not properly vetted.

There is seldom a day goes by that I am so thankful the voters are smarter than the GeeNoPers and elected the right person for the job. I loved watching Sandra Day O'Connor this morning. She is absolutely right that our court clearly is not 'representational'. I am glad she is disappointed that she wasn't replaced by a woman. I am a little surprised that she thought 'W' would be more 'progressive' in that regard. I don't personally think Sotomayor will have too much difficulty with her confirmation. The party of "NO" intends to make it awkward and uncomfortable for her; but what else have we come to expect?

First of all, some house cleaning:

1. The upgraded graphics on MSNBC (less clutter and more white background) look terrific. Has anyone else noted the coincidence that, within a 2 week period, the NYT Magazine, Newsweek and now MSNBC have all cleaned up their graphics to make them cleaner and more readable?

2. One problem, however - When my flat-screen is set on S-Stretch (giving my image the least distortion) the bottom crawl on MSNBC gets cropped off. (This doesn't happen on CNN). Perhaps a little bit of tweaking by NBC's graphic geniuses could solve this problem without compromising the new clean look.

Now for stuff more substantive:

1. Appropriate answer to the "if not Iran, why Honduras?" question. The Monroe Doctrine (i.e. Hondurus is in our hemosphere).

2. But I do think it would help the Obama administration to be clearer about its policy toward Iran. What I keep waiting to hear is the the distinction between (a) cheerleading for freedom by both our citizens and our government and (b) our nuts & bolts relationships with other sovereign countries. There should be nothing inconsistent about criticizing another country's human rights policies while still trying to talk with them to address potential areas of common interest (Even though we were still in the midst of the Cold War, we were in close negotiations with the then Soviet Union over nuclear proliferation and arms control).

3. Finally, the insistence by NBC and other MSM outlets to pin down the Obama administration on dates-certain for hitting economic targets, reaching military objectives or passing legislation is, in my opinion, unrealistic. I keep waiting for Gibbs or Pres. Obama to reply that (1) there are times when you don't want to telegraph your foreign policy or military punches and (2) while we can attempt to manage and rein in macro economic events and trends, the government cannot actually control them. The best it can do is to set bench mark dates for quantifiable goals and then track "directional progress" toward those goals. For some news outlets to proclaim certain policies as "a failure" just because a goal wasn't reached by some arbitrary date is irresponsible journalism bordering on the yellow.
